(shorts, tank, shoes)

Seven miles @ 8:36 pace with Jo. It was one of those runs where you start thinking you are too exhausted to run a mile, but then the conversation makes you forget that you are running, and your watch beeps 7 miles.

Back. To. School.

They were all so excited, which made my heart happy.

I came home feeling overwhelmed, so I cleaned summer up in the house for a few hours. I’m pretty sure I didn’t truly clean once this summer… oops.

PS house update–> There isn’t one. Not sure what is going on, but nothing has been going on for a few months.

Back to planning a race again for the school:

It feels so good to eat at home again. Trips make me SO beyond sick of eating at restaurants.

The queen of Yahtzee:

We met up with Andrew during his break to share a Rice Krispy treat. I need more of these in my life.

I decided that today needed some random lists of three. Beck helped me out with these:

3 best books I have read this year:

*Great Alone by Kristin Hannah

*Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano

*One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

3 books I want to read:

*Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano

*The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

*Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt

3 current favorite running shoes (this question is causing me stress because I have so many favorites right now, but I’ll narrow it down):

*Saucony Peregrine 13 for trails

*Endorphin Shift 3 for easy runs

*Vaporfly 3 for racing… the pink/orange combo is just too great.

3 races I want to do someday:

*London Marathon

*Big Sur Marathon

*Kauai Marathon (trying to convince Andrew I need to do this one this year;)

3 best things I’ve bought from Amazon this year:

*The best sheets for so cheap.

*This ribbed tank top with a built-in bra. I wore it yesterday, and I can’t believe how great it is for the price.

*These white t-shirts… such a good deal and my #1 white tee.

3 pieces of running gear I could not live without currently:

*My wildcat sunglasses

*My Garmin. I wear mine all day, and it is perfect, in my opinion (also, it is 38% off right now). Here is my review of it!

*These mini water bottles for my spandex shorts pockets… saving me this summer. I don’t even feel them in there.

3 foods I could eat daily and never get sick of:

*Guacamole

*Cake with a lot of frosting

*Homemade bread

3 favorite books I’ve listened to on Audible this year:

*Good for a Girl by Lauren Fleshman

*I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

*The End of Normal by Stephanie Madoff

3 reasons to go out and run today:

*Because life problems feel smaller after a run (at least for me)!

*It helps us to feel alive and adventurous.

*The 15 hours (how long I believe endorphins last;) after make getting out of bed and running worth it.

Please share any of your responses to these lists of three; I can’t wait to read them!

I still need to read Good for a Girl! I read Des and Kara’s books, but not Lauren’s. Need to get on that.

I bought those bed sheets from Amazon and they are great! My other great Amazon buy this month is a two piece linen short and tank set, so easy to wear for summer!

I really loved listening to it, I hope you love it too. Ummmm can you send me that link, I need to copy you. Have a beautiful day, Mariah!

I’ve always wanted to run the Big Sur Marathon too! Hopefully one day soon. The Kauai marathon or Maui marathons have also been ones I’ve wanted to do, and a great excuse to finally go to Hawaii!

Reply

Can we all plan to go and do those marathons the same year?! Seriously… run the race and then go sit on the beach for a few days. We need to make it happen. I hope you have a beautiful day, Brittany!

I just started The Great Alone. It is getting really interesting. I went to Alaska last summer, so I understand the long days thing, it was never dark, twilight at it’s darkest for 4 hours. 11 p.m. looked like 7 p.m.

I just reserved Remarkably Bright Creatures, can’t wait to get it, sounds really good! Recommended by my Mom and sister.

Okay, I’m jealous of your Alaska trip and I bet that has made the book even better. Keep enjoying! Hope your day is a wonderful one, Sara!

Big Sur marathon is definitely on my list too. It’s just so pretty up there.
Yay for the kids to all be excited for the 1st day of school! And so fun to have them at the same place for a year or 2 (Brooke and Knox are 5th grade?)
Love your book lists. You’ll love The Four Winds. I want to listen to I’m Glad My Mom Died. I’ve heard it’s really good.
Hope your Thursday is great!

Let’s all go do Big Sur the same year, please. Yes, it’s crazy that all three are at the same school. I can’t believe it! It is really good and shocking. Let me know what you think of it. Thanks Wendy, give your puppy some snuggles for us!

I just bought those sheets as well (they came yesterday). Excited to wash them and get them today!
3 foods I could eat daily and never get sick of:
Popcorn (I can’t control myself)
Pecans (TJ’s roasted/salted)
Cheese (really any cheese)

3 pieces of running gear I could not live without currently:
My new Nathan Hydration Pack
My Garmin (although I am debating a new one.. it’s either summer or mine has been lying to me…)
My OpenRun Shockz Headphone (obsessed)

3 Best Books this Year
My book taste is a little dark in general (more horror/fantasy) but this year
“How to Be Eaten”
“Lady Tan’s Circle of Women”
“Cackle”

Oh how I hope you love the sheets! Off to go buy those pecans, I’ve never tried them before! Let me know if you get a new Garmin and which one… I hate it when they start lying. I bet Andrew would love those books! Have the best day, Arianna!

Love your lists! I have read and LOVED LOVED 2 of your 3 “best reads”. I just added Hello Beautiful to my reading shelf. I glad you enjoyed The Great Alone so much :) – Four Winds has a similar sad but profound feeling. I learned more about that time in US History than I had known before. Remarkably Beautiful Creatures is a sweet story, you will love it!

I am so excited for Four Winds, it should be arriving on my doorstep today. You will have to let me know what you think of Hello Beautiful. I want to read it again already. Thanks for sharing Kaelin, have a beautiful day!

Such great lists of 3. Mine for trail running
1. Trail shoes.just bought the hoka speegoat while on vacation
2. Salomon hydration pack
3. Gummies.

As a random fun fact I went out and bought those trail shoes 3 days after I raced/ran 40 miles at Fat Dog in manning park last Saturday lol.

Can’t wait to check out some of your books on the list and hope back to school goes well for the kiddos!

Have a great day Janae!

Oh goodness, I love the speedgoats too. And the gummies are truly a must. Not sure how people trail run without candy. 40. Miles. Kristine, you are inspiring! Congrats and thank you so much, you too!

Remarkably bright things was so good! It’s probably one of my favorite books I’ve read this year!

Hi Janae! What a fun post! You listed so many books I loved or want to read! I’m going to check out those tees!
Have an awesome day!

Reply

I hope you love the tees! I wish we could meet monthly for a book club. Thanks Amy, you too!

I’m positive you could win Big Sur. Also in the past they haven’t allowed headphones and I think you’d be just fine with that giving you another advantage on the course. Can’t wait to read your race recap from it someday!!

Our book tastes are very similar; love the three you’ve read this year :-) The Great Alone was so good! I LOVED Remarkably Bright Creatures; I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was fantastic! Dear Edward was great too. I have heard mixed reviews about The Four Winds so I’m on the fence about reading it.

Reply

Oh my goodness I want to do the London marathon so bad! My sister is living there for another 2 years and I promised myself I would run it before she moves back home!

Reply

Remarkably bright creatures is a great book! I’ve added the great alone to my list since your recommendation.

I love my new balance rebel sneakers. They are so light and fast.

Happy day to you, Janae! You seem to be rocking it – as mother, wife, runner, blogger :)

Reply

But I must clarify – the version two of the rebel because the version three is terrible! I hope they go back to the old version when version four comes out :-). I was able to stockpile some and have three unopened boxes of the v2 :-)

I loved the Nightingale by Kristin Hannah but hated the four winds- too much tragedy

I LOVED remarkably bright creatures- I listened to the audio book.
Happy reading!

I have loved so many of your book recommendations! Thank you for always sharing what you are reading! I always add books to my must read list from your daily blog. Four Winds was one of my favorite reads last year but it was definitely full of hardships. Keep sharing so we can all keep reading along!!
