MY shoes, 130 cookies and a HOT run.

We started our morning off early by going to help some friends out and do some cleaning.  Brooke made a new best friend.

From there my sister-in-law and I went STRAIGHT to the gym (PS my SIL is 5 months pregnant and still rocking her workouts) and while we were there we saw THE Billy Banks… inventor of Tae Bo.  I really want to take his class someday.

IMG 6972

I thought that I had packed clothes for the gym and when I went in to the bathrooms to change out of my cleaning clothes I had only packed a sports bra and my running shoes.  I had two options and lucky for everyone I chose to stay in my cleaning clothes for my run.   Only problem was that I was wearing clothes meant to run in 20 degrees in an already hot gym.  I decided I was NOT going to let being hot be my excuse for taking it easy.

I did 8.35 miles in 60 minutes… I think that is about a 7:10 pace.  I was a sweat ball at the end and got at least 8 drops of sweat in each eyeball.   I know I am a Brooks Ambassador and all but I really and truly promise you that the PureFlow 2s are my absolute favorite shoes ever.  I cannot say enough good about them.

While we were at the gym Billy’s family went for donuts.  I threatened Billy if he didn’t bring me home an apple fritter that there were going to be serious problems… it was heavenly.

Next thing I knew it and everyone was ready to go to Costco.  We love eating lunch there and I had my normal chicken caesar salad.

My in-laws always buy half the store (one of two carts).

This is where it gets exciting.  We went to the Spectrum (an awesome outdoor mall and this is how Billy and Brooke stayed entertained in Lululemon.

Yep, still in my cleaning clothes.  My SIL and I got matching running tanks and I can’t wait to wear them at the same time at the gym and at home and at the mall and at the park and at In-n-Out so that people can see our twinnerness (I am quite upset that they didn’t carry it in Brooke’s size).

We got home and my MIL forgot that she needed to make a trillion cookies for something.  I decided that I wanted to make them so I ended up making 130 chocolate chip cookies.  I think I will quadruple the recipe  each time I make cookies, way more fun that way.

For dinner my MIL made her famous ribs and my BIL made creamed corn and the best everything potatoes I have ever had (cheese, cream cheese, bacon, green onions and butter).

To top it all off we watched Elf and I was in bed by 10.   I feel very good about that.

I have made 16 dozen cookies for our annual cookie exchange. I think between my husband and I, we have only eaten about 3 dozen so far. The rest will be given out on Christmas! :)

Reply

I am off to my mom’s this morning to make gingersnaps (mom’s favorite), chocolate chip (Chris’s favorite) and PB blossoms (the one with the kiss on top….dad’s favorite) for the Christmas eve cookie try.

I loved glazed donuts and I’ve had no time to make cookies but your post has inspired me to make some tonight!

I am currently pregnant, 18 weeks tomorrow !!!!

I have made a few different types of cookies so far this holiday season!!! Oreo truffles (do those count?), sugar, chocolate chip, peanut butter M&M cookies and smores cookies!! I think I need to make more =)

Enjoy your holidays!

I am pregnant! 16 weeks with my first. I also have still been working out, mainly running, ellipticizing, and walking. I hope to keep it up through my entire pregnancy.
Those cookies look delicious – good work!

The more I see and read about the Brooks Flows, the more I want to try a pair! Everyone has been raving! My mom and I had a marathon baking day yesterday when I got into town and made four different kinds! And the way Billy and Brooke were playing in Lululemon made me laugh!

Reply

Love Brooks too! I wear the ghost 5’s. Don’t even ask about how many cookies I’ve made this past week….I feel like I’m going to turn into a cookie!

Reply

I don’t know if I have one perfect pair of shoes, but I have a rotation of shoes that I love: Saucony Kinvaras, Altra Provisioness, Newton Gravity’s and Newton Distance U’s. I go between all of them and I love them all!!

Reply

Your costco carts looks like ours after a trip to Sam’s club. There’s so many good things to buy!I love lululemon so much. Too bad my wallet doesn’t. Those cookies look SO good, send me some ;)

Love a good Cinnamon Sugar Donut!

I have made sugar cookies a couple times already this season. Thinking we need a batch of Chocolate Chip cookies for Santa though now.

Reply

Sour cream glazed are my fav donuts.
I am 8 months preggo, about to head out for my run!
NB minimus roads are my fav shoe as of the last 2 years.. I have 4 pair.
I didn’t know you had lulu there! It’s a Canadian store.. $$ but that’s all I wear now for running, their tanks are amaaazing, (although my belly currently sticks out of mine due to being prego – they need a mat line!)

Reply

YES!! Lulu Lemon definitely needs a maternity line:)

Reply

Still not sure about THE shoes that are perfect for me. I enjoy Nike Frees a lot but I am not sure if they’re the one. I just got a pair recently that I’m reviewing and they certainly have potential but I’ve only done two runs in them so I want more testing time.

Favorite donut: Anything with sprinkles and without filling!

Haven’t made any cookies yet but I did buy a lovely package of frozen cookies yesterday that I look forward to “baking” later :)

Reply

The cookies look so YUMMY! Can you come and make mine. My favorite shoe is the Newton Gravity. Any time I try something else it makes me realize how much I love my shoes.

Reply

I have made and eaten a ridiculous amount of cookies. I’ve made chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, snicker doodles, chcocolate peppermint and funfetti from a box cookies. I’m almost getting tired of cookies. My excuse to eat as many cookies as I want ends in just a few days.

Reply

My friends make fun on me because my fav donut is an ‘old lady’ donut…the French cruller. And I’m in desparate need of new running shoes. I’ll have to check out Brooks!

Reply

I watched Elf yesterday too! I was quarantined here in Chicago (supposed to drive home yesterday with my brother and SIL) so I watched holiday movies while riding out my fever. Love that movie.

Reply

Me! I’m pregnant! I’m having baby #3 in April! I have been horrible about working out lately. Yikes! For a donut, I love me a raspberry fritter or a Bizmark! As for cookies, so far I have only made Heavenly Pieces to take to school, and they were definitely heavenly!! Merry Christmas to your cute family!!

Reply

I need new running shoes! The ones that have been my go-to the last 6 years, I’m realizing are probably contributing to an injury :( I *think* I am going to try the Brooks Ghost 5.

So far I’ve made Hot Cocoa Cookies and Soft Gingerbread with White Chocolate Chips.

Even if you have to run in cleaning clothes…at least you didn’t have jeans on and you had the sports bra! I once forgot my good sports bra and realized it when I got to xc practice!

Reply

I haven’t found THE shoes yet. I am working on it.
Chocolate donut.
I am about to make orange white chocolate cookies. They are a substitute for the cupcakes that DIDN’T work last night.

I absolutely LOVE how much Brooke smiles, it’s SO obvious what a happy little baby she is…I’m guessing it has to do with her wonderful parents :D I LOVE Brooke’s jacket- so cute!!
Looks like a fun day..especially the part about the mall & luluemon- I JUST got into luluemon…and now I see why everyone is addicted to it…although my wallet is not liking the idea ;)

Reply

Sounds like such a fun day. And yay for not letting having the wrong clothes stop you from having a great workout!

My favorite donut is anything with cream in the middle.

Reply

I love mizuno wave precisions! I’m always worried when they come it with a newer model, but luckily they still fit great!!!!
My #1 favorite donut is toasted coconut!
Have a Merry Christmas :)

Reply

Yes, I am pregnant with baby #1 and due in Late June : ) Excited and nervous to be a mom!

Reply

I got the Brooks Glycerins for Christmas (I made my Dad give them to me early so I could go for a few runs in them already muahahahah) and I am OBSESSED with them!!!! Quick funny story- I’ve started seeing this guy and I was telling him how I love blogs (yours especially) and I feel like you’re my friend even though you don’t know who I am and he thought I was a total weirdo. I was cracking up because I guess it is funny to think that I feel like I have a friend through the internet who doesn’t know who I am but whatever! Anyways, I had to show him the adorable picture of Brooke in her santa outfit because I still think she is the cutest lil santa ever. And it was even more hilarious when I opened up your blog it was the post about your sister’s wedding and I started naming your entire family and he thought I was extra creepy. hahaha. Maybe I should have told him about my blog hobby a little later?

And now I’m on a mission to find a donut.

Reply

I wish I was at the Spectrum last night! I would have loved to meet you!

I haven’t found my perfect shoe :/ I’ve tried many but none of them were the one. I’ve never tried Brooks though, maybe the perfect one lies in the brand. I was fitted for shoes at 2 different running stores for 2 different types of shoes so I’m really confused about what my needs are and what will work for me.

Reply

When Brooke gets older you’ll have to check out Ivivva – it’s Lululemons store for young girls – http://www.ivivva.com/

Have a fun first Christmas!

Reply

I’m a sucker for the pureconnects myself. That pure project line of Brooks is pure gold! I love it.

I feel the need to make a ginormous batch of cookies now…

Reply

Unrealted to this post, but… have you ever posted on your experience with a Costco sample-lady? and if so, did it receive 167 comments?
I used you as an example of blogging to one’s strength and uniqueness. Hope it makes you smile: http://markmatthewsauthor.blogspot.com/2012/12/262-tips-to-run-running-blog.html

Billy blanks…glad he is still going strong!! ps_- that is a hell of a lot of cookies. MERRY Christmas!

I was at the Irvine Spectrum yesterday too!!!! ahhh!!!! it was a mad house!

Reply

I SWEAR by my asics running shoes, and krispy kreme’s glazed donuts hands down win the award in my book. :)

Reply

I’m currently running in Brooks Glycerin 10’s and I really love them. I won’t promise that I’ll always stay in them because I get bored easily but I am loving them right now. I think I need to go to Lululemon too.

Reply

My poor feet are crying out for new shoes, so I’m currently in the market. I know Brooke is a fantastic brand, but I haven’t yet tried out their PureFlows. I’m going to have to do that – thanks for the reminder!

Reply

I would love to try the Pure Flows, but since I’m a major pronator, I have stick with a supportive shoe. My running BFF – Asics Kayanos. Love them!

I’m more of a cookie person, but I have to admit, the pumpkin spice donut from Krispy Kreme is ridiculously good.

So far, I’ve made sugar cookies and chocolate chip walnut cookies. Sugar coma.

Reply

We watched Elf too yesterday for the first time and we LOVED it!! My little 3 year old loved the snowball fight scene, so when it was over…we recreated it in our front room using cotton wool balls. Hilarious – and much warmer and less wet than the real thing!!!

I’m getting new shoes the week after Christmas. I’m going for either Brooks or Saucony. Quite excited about it!!! I just hope they’re a nice colour, I can’t wear ugly shoes.

Reply

I haven’t found “the shoe” yet but my poor feet have told me I need to!! They are wide and I feel like I need a lot of cushioning but there are so many choices out there not sure where to start so if anyone has recommendations please share!!
My 9 year old son is a donut connoisseur and we have agreed that our small town donut shop makes the best glazed in the world!!!

Reply

I did not think it could get better than the Kinvara’s…then I ran in my Flows.
True.Love.

Merry Christmas! Your daughter is so precious.

Reply

I love old fashion donuts. I think they have more calories and stuff, but that’s probably why they’re so dense and delicious.

Reply

Looks like you’ve had a ton of great food already, and it’s not even Christmas yet! Have a great holiday!

Reply

Yummmm so many cookies!! My favorite doughnut is a cider doughnut, it might be a regional/east coast doughnut though

Reply

haha woulda loved to see Billy from Tae bo. I’ve got his dvds!

I feel really comfortable in asics at the moment, but still looking for *THE* shoes for me!

Reply

I swear by Asics!

Reply

Donuts are the one kind of sweet food that I don’t like. Probably a good thing though lol I have made white chocolate peppermint cookies and hot chocolate cookies this season. I love them both so much that I don’t even want to try a new recipe!

Reply

I seem to like Brooks shoes the best, however I’ve been thinking about going back to Mizuno for a bit. The Ghosts 5 don’t feel as comfortable for some reason. I made cake batter chocolate chip cookies the other day – first time baking those and they are so yummy. My favorite Christmas cookie is a tie between sugar cookies and the Hershey kiss ones. Yum!! My boss just gave me a giftcard to lululemon – I looked on the website and couldn’t find anything I wanted! What is wrong with me? I normally love that place!

Reply

Love your blog! I’m pregnant with my first, 22 weeks and still feeling good to run. I hope it lasts till the end.

I’ve always had good luck with Saucony’s but I may ave to try the Brooks Pure Flows.. Love the style of the shoe.

I love a good butternut donut.

Reply

They are discontinuing my favorite shoes !!!!! :( I love the Brooks Launch. If you know of a replacement/equivalent, please let me know!

Reply

maple glazed definitely! i always crave donuts or french toast after an early morning long run :)

Reply

I first got a pair of Brooks this past summer and I don’t know how I’ll ever buy a pair of running shoes from anywhere else! I have the Pure Cadence onces and absolutely love them.

Reply

130 cookies!!! holy cow! now that’s the best thing I’ve ever heard!

xo

Reply

That donut looks incredible! I think I need to get my in-laws to get on this donut-loving-and-buying kick like Billy’s family! Brooke is just the cutest being cradled in that sitting position that the guys in this post are holding her in!

Reply

130 cookies sounds like a pretty good amount :D I couldn’t decide on what kind of cookies I wanted to bake this year so I figured I’d just make all of them. So far I’ve probably made about 12 dozen chocolate chip, sugar, gingerbread, snickerdoodles, and shortbread cookies. I’m thinkin’ another few dozen and I should be done ;)

Reply

I am 32 weeks pregnant and would love a donut or some cookies right now ;) any kind would do ;) Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Reply

5 months with boy #2 ( :
Loving my runs (now usually run 5 minutes, walk 1) for an hour or so and feeling great!
And while I was in a local fro yo shop the other day they had an Entertainment Show on about women running while pregnant and they were interviewing a woman in Provo, Utah who I think was 9 months pregnant with child number….9!!! I don’t know but it could have been a re-run of the one you were on?!
No cookie baking but helped package my mom’s amazing low fat chocolate chip banana muffins that she graciously made for my son’s school PTO bake sale.

Reply

I am! 37 weeks…OMG, she cannot come fast enough!! 3 more weeks to go!! And still rockin the workouts too! I’m mighty proud of this! They just make me feel GOOD.

I have yet to find my perfect running shoes. I’m contemplating trying a new brand.

& Chocolate glazed is my favorite doughnut!!

I *think* I have my favorite running shoes (Asics), but I’m overdue (yikes!) for a new pair. Thankfully, Santa has already told me he will sponsor a trip to Road Runner Sports for a new pair. I’ll be looking into Mizunos and Brooks for sure!

Cake donut, with gobs of frosting and SPRINKLES!!

Not pregnant, but I’m eating for two this Christmas….blerrrgh!

I’ve made Chocolate Chip, Monster Cookies, Banana Bread, and today I made fudge (both with and without nuts). Tomorrow, I’ll make “Hockey Pucks” (ritz crackers sandwiching peanut butter, and then dipped in white or milk chocolate.) Omm nom nommm. :)

Reply

I made your hot chocolate cookies! So festive, fun, and oh-so-delicious. :) I also put them in Christmas-themed Chinese take-out boxes and they made great take home gifts after a holiday party!

Reply

Favorite running shoes: Gortex. Any brand will do, as long as they keep my feet dry.
Donuts….not really into them.
Yup, 38.5 weeks pregnant, due January 2.
I have made gingerbread cookies, white chocolate chip chocolate cookies, and gluten free chocolate chip and chocolate chocolate chip cookies

Reply

My favorite donut is a straight-up glazed donut with chocolate icing. Simple but AMAZING.

Reply

Brooke! Question… how did/do you become and Brooks ambassador?

Reply

I have worked out with billy blanks before :)

Reply

I’m not sure what my fav donut is. Maybe maple bars. I might have to go buy a dozen variety of donuts to taste each one and make sure. It’s been a while since I’ve had a donut, so maybe my preference has changed. ;)

So happy you guys are having so much fun! Merry Christmas Eve!

xoxo

I absolutely LOVE my Vibrams for running. I’m 33 Weeks pregnant right now, and I haven’t been able to go running in a little while sure to the extra pregnancy weight and a torn meniscus. I can’t wait to go running again.
