I will miss the beautiful friends I have made.  Pam and Monica, thank you for spending many hours with me at the Yogurtland eating and talking about running and how addicted we are to the sport.

IMG 8491

I will miss Billy’s family and how they are just as easily entertained as I am by playing games such as, ‘Try and catch the gummy bear without using your hands, but you are allowed to step on the other people’s feet’ game.

IMG 8498

I will miss winning 9/10 times every game we play.  Yes, Jon and Ryan, I did beat you twice last night in pool and I will never let you forget.  PS don’t even try competing against me when the prize is a delicious gummy bear, I will do whatever it takes to win.

IMG 8500

I will miss the amazing food that we eat EVERY. SINGLE. MEAL.

IMG 8525

And more importantly I wll miss your ice cream sundaes with hot molten cake as the base.

IMG 8526

I will miss the perfect temps, spending 23 hours a day with Billy, beautiful scenery, lazy days, pools, beaches and bike rides.

But, I have missed THESE PEOPLE a lot and so I am looking forward to seeing them in roughly 9.4 hours.

Tell me a joke/story/quote/ANYTHING to help entertain me on the long drive back to Utah?  I can read the comments in the car on my phone:)

What are your two FAVORITE STATES AND WHY?

-Utah and Cali…..you saw my cali reasons and my Utah reasons are family, the mountains, friends and I think those are enough to get me over the fact that there isn’t a Trader Joes.

What are you looking forward to about FALL?  Moms out there:  Are you happy or sad to be sending the kids back to school?

-I am looking forward to some awesome camping/biking weekend trips that Billy and I are planning!

I would have to say I love Arizona and Utah the most (No I’m not sucking up :D ) I was able to visit Ogden, Utah last year and I took a long drive through the mts and it was breathtaking. I also found the best cupcake shop I’ve ever been to and I had to climb a huge hill just to get to it. That meant it had zero calories! Fall means going home finally! I could’t be more excited :D

Reply

Im so glad to see that you had a GREAT summer in Cali!!!

Hmm….well I have a trader Joes in Ohio so I guess you need to come to this state!!

Here is my joke to entertain you Janae:
A man had been driving all night and by morning was still far from his destination. He decided to stop at the next city he came to and park somewhere quiet so he could get an hour or two of sleep. As luck would have it, the quiet place he chose happened to be on one of the city’s major jogging routes. No sooner had he settled back to snooze when there came a knocking on his window. He looked out and saw a jogger running in place. “Yes?” “Excuse me, sir,” the jogger said, “do you have the time?” The man looked at the car clock and answered, “8:15.” The jogger said thanks and left. The man settled back again, and was just dozing off when there was another knock on the window and another jogger. “Excuse me, sir, do you have the time?” “8:25!” The jogger said thanks and left. Now the man could see other joggers passing by and he knew it was only a matter of time before another one disturbed him. To avoid the problem, he got out a pen and paper and put a sign in his window saying “I do not know the time!” Once again he settled back to sleep. He was just dozing off when there was another knock on the window. “Sir, sir? It’s 8:45!”

Okay so I have not been to very many states but my favorite ones are Ohio and New Jersey. I have lived in Ohio all my life. I love our fall times. I love Cedar Point(I live 3 minutes from it) I love how we have the OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!! I just love everything about it. I spent a summer in New Jersey. It will always have a special place in my heart. I met my second family there. I spent 11 weeks growing and learning a ton in my walk with the Lord. I loved that I was 4 blocks from the beach!! The boardwalk was amazing!!

What Im looking forward to the most about the fall is….possibly running a 5k, leaves, pumpkins, watching football, apples, crisp air, hay rides, bonfires.

I love Cali and Hawaii b/c they both have beautiful beaches, warm temperatures and lovely landscapes. Santa Barbara was my FAV when I visited some cities in California…..I also go to meet Steven Tyler while I was there so it’s been dear to my heart :) Hawaii was like a dream. I feel like that’s where Heaven must be. The “aloha spirit” was my favourite part. I think you’d fit right in there :D

I LOVE FALL, can wait for the ultimate outdoor temps, the leaves falling, the leaf pile jumping, pumpkins, corn mazes, salmon swimming up stream ….cottage and outdoor fun!!!!

…oh and fall clothing! b/c it’s always the best. Have a safe drive!

Great pics! I am actually looking forward to going back to school this fall..and my bday haha :)

It sounds like you’ve had an awesome time in California! Have a safe trip back to Utah, Janae!

My two favorite states are Michigan and…well, I’m not going to go with a state but with another country. England, and specifically, London. I absolutely love it, and just moved back from living there for a year. But Michigan is my home and I love it as well. :)

Reply

So sad to see you going home! But happy too – but sad because that means you have to go back to school.

Reply

My 2 fave states are Cali and Dirty Jerz :P I’m so sad that I moved back to NJ before you came to Cali!!! I def miss the perfect weather, the breathtaking beaches/cliffs, how ‘big’ it feels, my gorgeous running routes, and the palm trees.

I love being back in NJ though, because I get to see my family and friends whenever I’d like!! And I am looking forward to the change in seasons, which we didn’t really get in San Diego. Last night we went to Wine Works, and they already had out the pumpkin beer!!!

I’m looking forward to pumpkin everything, hay rides, super cute boots, flannel, leaf crunching runs, and running my 2nd full marathon!!

Here’s a joke that Shane’s niece found on an ice pop just yesterday: What kind of call does a marathon runner always make? ….. Long distance!!

Have a safe drive back to Utah!! xo

Reply

I haven’t been to that many places in the US. New York and Hawaii were fantastic though, I would definitely go back! I really want to travel to Cali. I’ve always wanted to go! And Utah, obviously, to see you.

I am looking forward to fall FASHION. I love leggings and boots.

You may know this one already but here it goes:

How can you find a blind man in a nudist colony?

……

It’s not that hard.

Reply

I like Indiana and Michigan. Indiana because that’s where my immediate family lives, and Michigan because that’s where my relatives live and where I’m originally from. I’m looking forward to trips to the apple orchard, being able to exercise outside with sweating to death, and the two weddings that I’m in!

Reply

without sweating*

Janae, I am IN LOVE with your jeans! Please tell me where they are from! You are so freakin gorgeous! Have fun seeing your family again :)

My two favorite states? Well, obviously Florida doesn’t count since I live here. I love it because it’s my home, but it’s too dang hot! So honestly, my two favorite states would be North Carolina and Utah! I have only been to Utah once, but I fell in love with it instantly.

Reply

Instead of a joke I’m going to give you guys a good car game. Play 20 questions but food style!

I feel like Cali would be my fav state if I spent a good amount of time there. Til then, it’s NY and Florida!

Reply

2 favs…hmm I don’t think I have any, although I do miss Florida even though it’s full of horrible, nasty bugs!!!!!! I love fall.. hate winter!!! Only my oldest is going to school. He was giving me a horrible time at home. He’s off to highschool. The rest are still here with me.

Reply

Noooo dont go! We didn’t get girl time yet! Darn my hectic schedule. I need to switch careers and become a teacher so I can have summers off.

I love fall and can’t wait! The hot September SD weather goes away (yes, it does get hot, haha) and we usually stay right around 68- maybe 72 on a warm day. About an hour northeast there is a place called Bates Nut Farm and it is so fun at halloween! It’s the biggest pumpkin patch I have ever seen. I can’t wait for that! I get to be a kid with my kids!

Reply

I love Florida and would LOVE to go back to Cali (only been once – my friend’s there right now and I *almost* fit into her suitcase).

I’m definitely a summer fan. Winters in Canada are poopey, and that’s honestly all I think about when fall comes. I definitely was born in the wrong country. I would live in the sun, sand and beach all year if I could!!!

Reply

:(

Cali, obviously! I guess second place… NY.

I can’t freaking wait for school to start!

I swam at the gym yesterday and realized I had a piece of toilet paper hanging out the bottom of my suit from when I went to the bathroom. I tried to do the “pull to the side” method to tinkle, but I guess I missed the fact my toilet paper didn’t make it in the toilet. I’m not sure whether I should stop being lazy or just make sure it makes it in from here on out. This is probably TMI but I think it’s the funniest/embarrassing-est thing I’ve done recently lol.

My two favorite states? Probably South Carolina and Florida. I love sunny states!

Fall = hoodies&sweatpants, pumpkin flavored cappuccinos, starbucks holiday drinks, and a new semester (my last Fall semester of college). But I LOVE fall, just not the season following it, YUCK!

Reply

haha I love your gummy bear picture! Cali will forever be a part of you now!!

Reply

I am sooooooo ready for the kids to go back to school…although that does have its own set of challenges :P

My favorite states: California because the weather is so conducive to getting out and about all year. Pennsylvania (western) because you get 4 real seasons w/o too much brutality :P and there is so much interesting colonial as well as natural and native history there.

Jokes: did you hear the one about the jumprope? Awww…skip it.

Did you hear the one about the fire at the circus? It’s intense (in tents).

Did you hear the one about the roof? Hmmmm…nevermind…it’s over your head.

What do you call a deer with no eyes? No eye-deer.

Email me when you need more. I have a lot :)

I would have to go with Illinois and Wisconsin…midwestern girl for sure! Planning a trip to New York this fall, though, and would not be surprised it that ended up knocking Wisconsin out of the top two. :)

This fall, I am really looking forward to meeting my new students (I am a teacher t00) and having some amazing weather to run in.

Have a safe trip!

Hmm…here’s a funny quote off of a sight I used to go on (boardofwisdom.com)
I laugh so hard everytime I read it:
9 Things I Hate About Everyone

1. People who point at their wrist asking for the time… I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their butt to search the entire room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually.

3. When people say “Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too”. Damn Right! What good is cake if you can’t eat it?

4. When people say “it’s always the last place you look”. Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you’ve found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?

5. When people say while watching a film, “did ya see that?” No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor!

6. People who ask “Can I ask you a question?”… Didn’t give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?

7. When something is ‘new and improved’. Which is it? If it’s new, then there has never been anything before it. If it’s an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn’t be new.

8. When people say “life is short”. What the hell??? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!!! What can you do thats longer?

9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks “Has the bus come yet?” If the bus came, would I be standing here???

;)
My two favorite states are HAWAII and…Florida. Hawaii (Maui specifically) because I went there this summer and it was so relaxing there! and everyone is so nice and happy! Florida is my favorite too because it has Disney World!!! I love Disney :D

Things I’m looking forward to in the fall: My classes start! I’m actually really excited to start, and I have a class with my best friend so it’s going to be a blast!
I also love the apples in the fall because they’re so crisp, and I like going to hay rides, apple orchards, you name it.
Hope your trip back is safe! :)

Favorite states … Florida for sure and probably California, because I love San Francisco/Napa Valley. But I miss Florida lots. There’s nothing better than the warm weather, palm trees, and sandy beaches!! :)

I’m looking forward to lots of fun things in the fall … my birthday, my husband’s birthday, college football, running a 10k and half-marathon, seeing the leaves change … definitely lots to look forward to!

I stink at thinking of jokes, so I can’t help you there. But I hope you have safe travels back to Utah!! :)

Cali is where I’m from, so that’s my #1 fav.
I live in NY now, but that’s not my 2nd fav. Hmm, I’ve been to every state except for Alaska and I like so many of them. You’ve stumped me! :)
I am looking forward to fall because the northeast puts on a beautiful show of fall colors. I love seeing pumpkins and apples and baking with both. Cooler temps and fewer bugs! Fall running is probably my favorite too.
Do you read Kara Goucher’s blog? I read her most current post and thought of you immediately. If you need a way to pass a few hours, check it out:

Janae, not gonna lie, i was super excited to read your posts as I logged on this morning, I missed ya this week! It sounds like you’ve had an amazing time in california (or maybe im just incredibly jealous of your food pictures!) I’ve always wanted to go to Cali and I hope I get a chance one of these days, my boyfriend talks about how amazing it is.

My trip to El salvador was really amazing…I got to spend time with all of my family down there, I only wish I could see them more often. We were there for a while though, and I was feeling hella homesick by the time the trip was winding down. I didnt run the whole trip, I knew I needed a break, my right heel had been acting up. Turns out it was still sore as I jumped back into running this week. I bought some new inserts (it pains me, they were supposed to last 13 months, come on, its 72.00 for a pair! but the running store said with my high mileage there was no way they would last that long, sigh) and i THINK its gonna be ok, we’ll see. I have a half marathon coming up in the beginning of October and i’d really like to PR.

Ok, onto your questions…my two favorite states so far are def…NJ (its dirty and gross to some people, but its my HOME…we have the shore within driving distance, and diners 24/7, love it) and Mass. I LOVE going to boston, if I could live there, I definitely would…id never be able to be a boston sports fan, (Go NY!) but ya know..haha

FALL IS MY FAVORITEST SEASON EVER! I love the whole back to school vibe, I love the changing leaves, cooler weather, me and kevins birthday, halloween, apple picking, cool windy runs, thanksgiving, pumpkin spice lattes, making apple pie, pumpkin pie, octoberfest beer, i just love it!! hahaha

Reply

I am so excited (and extremely nervous) to start my first year teaching! I just graduated in May and will start teaching special education at a local middle school in September… GAH!

Cali & North Carolina
California because I live here and this is home. North Carolina because it’s gorgeous! The weather is perfect, the beaches are amazing, people are sweet and genuine, salt water taffy is somehow just better there, and did I mention that the weather is perfect and the beaches are warm and soft and amazing?
I tell the hubby that if he wants to leave California I will go IF we move to N.C.

I’m looking forward to nice weather so I don’t have to run at 6am for cool temps ( I live in Cali remember, and it 98deg out). Fall cooking of course, found a recipe for sourdough chicken casserole that I MUST try. Stews, fresh apples, fresh pears, squash, cute boots and long sleeved shirts, and RACE SEASON will be upon us.

Hope you are well, I LOVE reading this blog! So cute!

I’ll tell you my brother’s favorite joke. It starts out like this:
“Two dyslexics walked into a bra…”

My two favorite states are Utah (because I’ve lived there my whole life) and California. I would love to live there if it wasn’t so stinkin’ expensive.

Here are some jokes for you:

Three sons left home, went out on their own and prospered. Getting back together, they discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly Mother. The first said, “I built a big house for our Mother.” The second said, “I sent her a Mercedes with a driver.” The third smiled and said, “I’ve got you both beat. You remember how Mom enjoyed reading the Bible? And you know she can’t see very well any more. I sent her a remarkable parrot that recites the entire Bible. It took Elders in the church 12 years to teach him. He’s one of a kind. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse, and the parrot recites it.”
Soon thereafter, Mom sent out her letters of thanks: “Milton,” she wrote one son, “the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house.”
“Gerald,” she wrote to another, “I am too old to travel any more. My eyesight isn’t what it used to be. I stay most of the time at home, so I rarely use the Mercedes. And the driver is so rude!”
“Dearest Donald,” she wrote to her third son, “you have the good sense to know what your Mother likes. The chicken was delicious!”

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, “When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah”. The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?” The little girl replied, “Then you ask him.”

Q: How did Jonah feel when he was swallowed by the whale?
A: Down in the mouth.

Q: To pass the time, the animals on the ark held a poker tournament. Who won all the money?
A: The cheetahs.

Q: Who was the fastest runner in the world?
A: Adam – he was first in the human race.

The home teachers were visiting an elderly widow in the ward. As they are visiting, one of the home teachers notices a bowl of peanuts on the coffee table and asks if she wouldn’t mind if he had a few. Of course, the elderly widow encourages them both to have some.

Nearing the end of their visit, one of the home teachers realizes that they have eaten all of the peanuts. He says to her, “I’m sorry but we didn’t mean to eat all of your peanuts.”

She replies, “That’s ok. I can’t eat them anyway. Ever since I got my dentures, I’ve only been able to suck the chocolate off them.”

My favorite states are New Jersey and Mississippi. NJ because it’s where I call home. Plus the fact that it’s close to NYC and Philly, but there’s still rural areas. Then there’s the shore, where I have so many childhood memories.

Mississippi because I spent a week there rebuilding houses and I have so many memories of that trip. And I just love the laid-back feeling that’s so different from NJ.

Texas is my #1 – even with our blazing heat/drought this summer. Super friends, inexpensive housing, amazing people. I’ve only been here 7 years but you’d have to drag me out kicking and screaming. Cali #2 – beaches, temperate weather, and mountains.
Fall=Football, cooler temps, and my first marathon. I hate when my kids go back to school. I miss them terribly.
Be safe on your trip.

I’m the least funny person ever. I promise, I’m doing you a favor by not telling you any jokes! Plus, I always forget the punchlines anyway.

Favorite states? Hawaii and Georgia! I lived in Hawaii for 10 years and still kind of think of it as “home” and GA because I just moved here and so far I love exploring all the beautiful places nearby. But one day I want to head to Utah and see those gorgeous mountains I always see in your photos!

My favorite states are Washington and New York. I’ve lived in western Washington for the past 11 years, and it has grown to be one of my favorite places. The rain totally sucks while you’re here, but I find that when I’m gone…I miss it. I wake up and can see Mt. Rainier and the Puget Sound from my living room window. New York is where I went to school (upstate/central), and I’ll be moving to NYC next month to pursue my dreams as an actress. I love fall on the east coast, and New York is pure magic.

When I was pregnant with my first, my friend and I met at Target to do a little shopping. We got out of our cars and as I started to walk in, my friend asked if I planned to turn my car off. I had walked almost to the door, with my car still running. Total pregnancy brain. I don’t think I have laughed so hard in my life.

Texas & a tie between Cali & Hawaii. I was born and raised in Texas and love everything about it. I have a lot of Texas pride. It’s also where all of my family lives. I love Cali because we spent 3 years there and grew so much as a couple being so far away from our family. Thankfully, we made great friends and love going back to visit. Hawaii because it’s tropical, beautiful, great food, wonderful beaches, and it’s also where my husband & I went on our honeymoon.

This fall I’m looking forward to delivering my third child, Peyton. She will be my second daughter and I’m excited about having two daughters, which means we will outnumber the boys.

This is the first year that both of my kids will be in preschool and tonight I went to the orientation and meet the parent. I’m so excited for them, especially because they can’t wait. However, I’m sure there will be some tears on my part. It goes by fast.

My favourite in the US are definitely California (countless reasons including but not limited to: Ben, San Francisco, Ben, Los Angeles, Ben, San Diego, Ben, Ben’s puppies, Ben…) and New York (well, hello, NYC is there!).
It’s coming into spring here Down Under and I can’t wait for the change of seasons! I am visiting LA in just under two weeks though so I can’t wait for the end of your summer either. Gets a bit confusing with all this weather talk :)
