I tried so hard to take a day off.

First lesson. Don’t put your bike trainer together while on pain killers.  10 minutes into my ride my bike fell over, I was clipped in.  It’s all good…..I couldn’t feel a thang.

Yes, I did tell Billy to take a picture before I wanted him to help me up.  Creepy racoon eyes are part of the recovery process.

IMG_3780.JPG

After a nice little ride the bff MEGAN came over with ice cream for me.  She knows me way too well. By the way, if you haven’t been to her blog, do so now!! She is a personal trainer and pretty much my number one inspiration when it comes to healthy eating and exercise.

IMG_3781.JPG

If you make fun of my swollen cheek Billy said he will come beat you up….I mean look at those guns, scary.

IMG_3800.JPG

The sis called me and said they were going to Chuckee Cheese.  I don’t care that I just had surgery….I wouldn’t miss this and I was actually feeling just dandy:)

Let us just pretend that the doc said no showers for a few days k….I need an excuse for the greasiness.

IMG_3785.jpg

It does hurt to smile but I couldn’t stop, we had way too much fun.

IMG_3793.JPG

After an amazing time of spending $30 worth of tokens to get a lipgloss and stickers for Billy’s biceps with our tickets, we headed over to the sisters to hang out until midnight….oops.

They ate beautiful cheesy pizza while I ate mashed potatoes and ice cream.  I did mix the papa murphy’s butter/garlic sauce into my potatoes and it was the best decision I have ever made.  Oh yeah, I think I ate 34 frozen gogurts too….have you tried those? They are amazing.

photo-3.jpg

Ended the night with an eyebrow intervention.  I guess my sis didn’t think my unibrow was that hot so she helped me out and plucked my eyebrows.

What is your favorite take-out pizza place?

-Papa John’s….it was speaking to me to eat it.  I will be ordering an entire pizza for me when I can eat it again.

Have you ever fallen on your bike?

-Good thing I landed on carpet:) When I was first learning to use clipless pedals I fell SO many times.  I am sure I entertained many drivers!

Do you eat differently than your family and friends?  If yes, is that hard for you?

-Tonight was hard watching others enjoy their pizza while I ate smooshy baby food.

YAY for chuckee cheese! have you ever been to a dave and busters? same idea but for adults

1. hmmmm probably papa gino's but they seem to be disappearing around here!

2. yes. but not recently because i do not hop on bikes anymore. so kind of a cop out. i do remember riding my bike through the woods when i was little and hitting a root and going over the handle bars. fun stuff

3. yes and no. i'm a picky eater so yes but i have lots of the same principles of eating as many of my friends and some of my family.

I fell on my bike today. LOL.

hahah I probably would have FAILED clipping my bike in withOUT the pain killers!! Glad you are doing so well with your recovery. I know that last picture is your sis plucking your eyebrows but there is so much love in that picture =)

Reply

My mom ALWAYS plucked my eyebrows that way (with my head in her lap). In college, a girl on my hall offered to pluck my eyebrows once at "girl night", so I sat down and put my head in her lap. Everyone thought I was crazy.

I love that you had billy take a picture after you fell before helping you up. All for us! You're dedicated!

I haven't fallen off my bike in a while, but I've had a few close calls. Mostly because I wasn't paying attention.

I love Papa John's butter garlic sauce. Yum. They have a chicken and spinach alfredo pizza that is out of this world!

I don't eat differently than my family and friends, I just eat more :(

Reply

Sounds like a fun night! I eat differently than friends & family just cause I eat mostly vegetarian. It's not too hard because I'll eat their side dishes, and sometimes, I'll make the yummy vegetarian food. Also, I thought of you yesterday when I went to my first spinning class! It was awesome!

Reply

Papa John's is my favorite (non-local) take-out pizza too, but my husband isn't a fan so I don't get it very often! I looove the garlic sauce it comes with.

I had a bad fall on my bike at a camp one year, riding on trails – I went over the handlebars. I haven't been on a bike for a long time though!

I do eat different from most family and friends since I'm a vegetarian. It was harder in the beginning, but not so bad now. But I would have a hard time if I couldn't have pizza that everyone else was eating.

I knew a little mouth surgery would not keep you sedentary.

1. Goes in phases, right now I am on digorno's frozen pizza phase. My hubby is Papa john's through and through.

2. Fell on my bike and broke a rib the first time i road clipless pedals. :(

3. My mom and I eat the exact same, and my relatives think we are food snobs. However, she loves her sweets, and really rich desserts bother my belly, so I am always one my own with that. I always found it funny that people cared less if it made me feel gross, and more just wanted me to eat it so they would feel less guilty eating it. That's weird, and their issue.

Reply

1. Dominoes! Hands down!

2. I don't even have a bike. I read all these triathletes' blogs talking about clip pedals vs. clipless and their shoes and being fitted to their bike, and I honestly have NO idea what any of that means.

3. I eat completely different from my hubs. I will eat ANYTHING (except seafood–YUCK!), and he is extremely picky. He thinks if it's healthy it's gross. Makes me so mad sometimes.

Ditch the plucking! Electrolysis is the way to go! I wish I could afford to have it done everywhere!

I love that you had Billy take a picture after you fell. Hahaa. Glad you are OK. Also love that you have so much positive energy after your gum surgery – proof that you are a force to be reckoned with. (Did I just say that? I sound like my Grandfather.) There's a random small pizza place down the street that we love to order from. I fell off my bike once in the middle of the street- my tire got stuck in a trolley track. It was SO scary! And I'm sure people laughed. I cried. I eat differently that Billy, but we've learned to get creative with our meals. It's not so much about eating the same things – we just make it a point to eat at the same time. Hope you are feeling good today! xoxo

haha!! Great picture!!
Don't you just love that feeling of being clipped in and falling over and being able to do nothing to stop it??
I've done it several times. Once at a stop light a friend fell over into me and knocked me over as I was balancing and a car almost ran over my head. You've never seen someone jump up so fast!! It was really scary.
Another time I fell over in my drive way while the neighbors watched :-)

Papa John's was my FAVE when I ate dairy pizza! But now I make my own and it is so much better:)

I have fallen off of my bike too many times, I am a klutzo.

Slash being vegan and gluten free makes it sound like I'm picky, but usually it's not too hard to eat with my buddies:) Except when I had my wisdom teeth out I was so mad that I had to eat soupy mushy foods and couldn't crunch on pretzels and other crunchy deliciousness!

Reply

oh my gosh that picture is hysterical! I generally think i can do everything when on pain killers as well. Needless to say i fall a lot!

And i never pluck my eyebrows either, once every few months my mom will attack me with the tweezers.

Reply

Love your racoon eyes. Brilliant! :D

Haha I eat very different from most people! But I'm proud to be different! And baby food is so 'in' now, didn'tcha know that? :P

Your mom's comment at the top is probably my favorite thing I've seen all day. I am SO glad you are feeling better and that I got to see you yesterday! You are the most darling post-surgery victim I've ever seen. Please tell me that you took today off.
Also…I've been meaning to pass along this very important piece of information…please tell your sister that I am obsessed with her gorgeous hair, and if she could please teach me how to shower and do mine like hers I'd be very appreciative. As we can tell from the above photo where I look as if I'm a chinese fan attacking you for a photo, doing my hair isn't really a, "priority," or whatever…I LOVE YOUR GUTS.

Yep, definitely taken some embarrassing spills off my bike :) The best was when I was just getting used to clipless pedals. I was riding up a monster hill and there was a stoplight at the top. When I got there, it was red, and I couldn't get my feet out quickly enough to stop, so I just fell over right in the middle of the road! No danger of being hit, but there were more than a few cars that stopped to see if I was okay…

Reply

Sometimes I do eat differently than my family does, but I don't really let it bother me!
Hope you have a super-quick recovery!

Oh, I fall on my bike like it's my job! I always seem to hit my left knee, too. I have some wicked scars. That being said, I can't wait to start up again, or for my fiancé to get his trainer up here so I can play on that, too!
Call me strange, but Pizza Hut is my favorite chain takeout place, though now that I live in an area with more options I'm looking to change that. ;)
Glad to see you're feeling better–hope the recovery keeps going well! :D

I'm glad you are feeling better! Ice cream always makes me feel better!

My fav pizza place is in Idaho. I love it so much and once I move back will be getting a big pizza all to myself.

When I was in college I used to work on campus also. My work and classes were on the complete opposite ends of campus so I would ride my bike. Well one day I was riding with a friend and thought I would be cool and jump up on the curb, BAD idea. I fell off my bike had a huge grass stain on my butt. And then that friend told everyone at my work.. nothing I could do but laugh haha.

I eat similiar to my friends/family, I would hate to watch them eat pizza.

Reply

oh too funny!! I've done that before, but on my trainer. I am pretty sure I would have wiped out on the trainer if I was on pain meds too. At least you tried. hehe!
ANd I can't even tell that you have puffy cheeks. You should see me when I have teeth work done. I am literally a chipmunk on steroids.

Any pizza is good to me!!! My favorite is from the hospital I work at. I know that's weird but they have great pizza!
I have fallen off my bike before and it was pretty embarrassing!

Reply

WOW! You are recovering fast (just like you run!!) and I can't even tell your are swollen. I was expecting some Alvin & the Chipmunks look!

I totally biffed on my bike when I was 13…I tried to do the "Look no hands!" and bam-lost balance! I still have a scar on my knee. :P

Hahah the picture of you under your bike killed me. Too funny. And your "eyebrow intervention" made me literally laugh out loud. I do that to my cousin but there's never any photographic evidence. There's this amazing pizza place in my town that has the BEST CRUST EVER. It's really fluffy and not remotely greasy – perfection. And when I say "extra veggies, like literally as many as will fit on the pizza" for my vegetarian pizza, they take me seriously. They seriously test the ability of the crust to do its job. I lurve them. The last time I fell on my bike was when I was a kid and I claimed that "the wind blew me over" – I never lived it down. Although I am about to invest in clip-ins so I have a feeling I'll fall over more often.
Lastly, yes. I eat differently than my family and friends all the time. I'm a vegetarian (technically a pescetarian, I eat some fish) so it's hard at family gatherings when EVERYTHING has meat in it. I wind up eating the entire veggie tray and not being able to eat anything else.

I've fallen off a bike twice before (well, at least recently!) I wanted to try my dad's… big mistake. I ended up in the bushes once and the street the other time!

Reply

I love Megan!!!! She is one of my favorites (just like you!)
I have fallen over on my bike while being clipped in more than once.
One time I rode up a really steep hill in La Jolla and completely exhausted my legs. By the time I got to the top I didn't have enough strength to pull my foot off the pedal so I feel straight over. There were these tourists right there taking pictures of the view and they stared at me like I was the biggest idiot ever. I don't think they realized my feet were ATTACHED to the pedals so it appeared as though I was just too dumb to put my foot down. HAhaha. I had a big old gash on my leg to remind me of my fall for weeks after.

lol at the bike picture! You stay safe!

1. Rosatti's, then Papa Johns

2. Definitely. I went to visit a friend in Germany, first time riding a bike in ages… fell twice, once into a bush and once into really tall grass.

3. Yes, and it is difficult, and I feel bad when they make something that I won't eat (like any kind of pork) and I won't eat it…

I need an eyebrow intervention. Think you can send your sister over here?

I fell off my bike when I was 7 and have this huge scar on my chest – I like to think of it as a battle wound. (ok, not really. It's kind of gross). When I'm with family or friends I usually eat differently in that I don't eat fried stuff, but I'm always in for dessert. Glad you're feelin' good!

You on the floor with that bike on you is great…and the fact that you had the husband take a picture before helping you was priceless. I have had many spills with the bike clips. I used to road bike in San Francisco and it was so unsafe and I shook the entire time I biked as I knew I was 1 second away form being hit. We like a local pizza chain called Sals, but last night I had Pizza and I topped it just right…tomatoes, basil, fresh mozz and ricotta. AMAZING! I do eat differently with friends and family. My mo is here and I love it because she just assume eat healthy. Luckily too my husband loves salads, soup and all the things I like to have for dinner. I am off to read all your other recent posts…I feel so behind….I don't even know what surgery you had…must go see now!

I love that Linda was the first comment….she seems like an amazing mom. =)

Um, that photo of you on the ground with your bike…priceless!!! And you can just tell you are high! No one in the the right state of mind would hollar for a camera before getting. Ha!!! I almost bit it today with my clip in peddles. I always unhook my right foot and have developed a bad habit of not undoing my left. Well I had the right out but then started falling to the left!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!! I got it out just in time to not eat it. Shew!!!

You are so adorable!!! Seriously, that first picture, lying on the floor with your bike, PRECIOUS! and I love that you had Billy take a picture of you before having him help you. Now that's dedication.

I live near a pizza place that is THE BEST EVER, but it's not a chain, so no one would know what I'm talking about. But I always get sun dried tomatoes on my pizza, no matter what else is on it, there MUST be sun dried tomatoes. YUMMM.

Eyebrow intervention-ha!!!

I have thought of you so many times this weekend! Glad you're recovering well!!

OK-I've never flipped the bike trainer but I did ride my bike into the light pole while I was waving at a friend-not on painkillers:) Totally bent the rim and jarred me into EXTREME pain. I'm certain it was my most embarrassing moment!

OK-the little blonde curly princess has the BEST look on her face in that picture!! Way too cute!

We're ordering pizza for supper! Yumm! Have a great night:)

Reply

we have a place near us that does "fancy" pizza, i don't know what's fancy but it's amazing.

also hi, i am just getting caught up, how ARE you, don't ride the trainer while high, not a good plan. eat some ice cream for me!

I love DOminos. So unhealthy, and pretty much the best thing ever. Yum.

Once i went on a bike ride with my cousin and her two little ones. The bikes were attached and my little man rhys was connected to my bike. We were going up a hill & just as we came to the top and started to cruise down, the gears changed on me and i lost control, fell off the bike, skidded down the hill and landed at the bottom… not only was i screaming bloddy murder, rhys was too. after that incident, riding bikes has been few and far between!

Reply

I love B.J.'s pizza :)

I have fallen off my bike. I was riding my bike around our neighborhood with my brother one time and we were talking and he said something and Ilooked back at him and then i hit a parked car and fell to the ground after my brother recovered from laughing he helped me up ;)

I do eat a lot differently from my family. It is hard espeically since I try to be healthy!!

Hope you are feeling better!!!

Can you never ever delete that picture of you please? I think it really highlights your features :) My favorite take-out pizza place was this one down the road from my house called Pizza Village. It has this smell that I've never smelled at any other pizza place and just thinking about it brings me back to those "treat" Friday nights! Glad I just got my hopes up. It's not like I can eat gluten anymore anyways… haha. Glad you're getting better!!

Okay, I'm seriously giggling at you falling off your bike… indoors! I can't say that's happened, but I totally couldn't unclip outside on my first ride with my now hubby and his family – I only knew them like 3 months. I was mortified… they were bikers and no phased by it at all! :)

I love me some papa johns breadsticks with cheese dipping sauce – extra please! :)

Reply

When I was 5 I fell of my bike and have never tried again. I am one of those sad adults who can't ride a bike.

But when I see pics of you looking cute in a helmut and pink top, I think I can try again!

Pizza, there is a place called Wholly Bagels that sell what they call "New York Style Pizza", when you live in New Zealand anything with the words New York will appeal.
I like New York style cheesecake, bagels and pizza.

Or anything with feta and spinach is good.

oh my gosh, glad you're okay crazy girl!

I have to say Domino's (even if it isn't) because my boyfriend works at the corporate office for them, so by default they're my fav since they provide him with a paycheck, hehe.

I've never fallen off a bike…yet.

I eat somewhat differently than my fam, but not a ton. I just get wayyy more obsessed with foods than they do.

One of my usual running routes takes me right by Papa John's. One day I'm just going to run in and place my order. The smell is so good!

LOVE Papa Johns and the garlic sauce.

Yeaa! Chuck E. Cheese! Chuck E. and I are best buds!!

I love Costco pizza. No, never have fallen off my bike but, I dropped my brother when he was younger (he was on my handle bars)! I was put on restriction for the week for doing that!! :(
Yes, I do eat differently from the rest of my family. My 14 y/o daughter says that I'm too healthy. The hubby says that I eat too many salads. I eat what I like and hamburgers and fried chicken don't sit well in my stomach. But, I don't deprive my family of foods they enjoy. Everyone has different palates…My mother is 100% Korean, father is caucasion but, I always preferred foods my mother ate. Lots of vegetables, fruit, rice…

You have a beautiful smile and a beautiful family!! xo :)

My sister and I pluck each other too. At least I know we aren't the only weirdos.

I don't really have a favorite take out pizza place. I probably Promise Pizza here in Austin maybe?

I eat completely differently from most of my family, friends, and coworkers. Doesn't bother me any, but sometimes it's a challenge. My mom and sister try to eat healthy. Dan eats whatever I cook at home, mostly because he doesn't have a choice. when we go out though, we are completely different when it comes to food choices

my fave chain pizza is pizza hut… but there are a ton of local places i love :)
