The muscles in my legs are still shaking 24 hours after finishing this workout.
My visor and ear-warmer combo was brought about by the fact that it was snowing very hard as I was getting ready for my run but then as soon as we started running it was sunny and I was actually hot enough to take off my gloves. Utah weather in February is the biggest guessing game ever.
Started off with a lucky kiss from Skye and then we were off.
It was so nice to see Emilee’s and my speed shoes together again. We met up at Emilee’s favorite hilly loop that she has been doing and I now think this loop is going to be key for us. It is 4 miles of non-stop up and downs and it worked my legs in an entirely new way. Emilee did 2 x 4 miles at tempo and I was extremely happy to do one of the loops @ 6:35 average.
My lungs were burning, everything but my earlobes were hurting and I had to focus on pumping my arms because my legs were telling me to quit but it felt so good to be back at it. I needed two months away from speed for recovery and some mental burnout but speed is back to being fun again. Never be afraid of a break… they are a necessary part of training when we need them.
Ten miles total for the day and those amazing post-speed workout endorphins were at an all-time high.
We were then off to meet my mom and she took us to lunch for my bday!
Skye was thrilled to get all of the attention on our little date.
After lunch I went straight to the dentist (Skye was with Andrew). I had another appointment for my gum therapy and when they checked them out, they said the therapy was successful and I do not need to get gum grafting again. Such a huge relief. If you want their information, let me know I am extremely happy with how it all went! Basically I had to go in for some treatments at the dentist and then I was given a bunch of mouth washes to use daily and in my water pik along with antibiotics for an infection that they found and Paradontax toothepaste. Now I just need to stay on top of it all and I’m very happy that my gums are happy again.
Easy peasy dinner of these packets from Costco, pulled pork from Costco and roasted veggies.
This is why we keep the ladder put away in the closet.
I told the kids all that I want from them for my birthday is for them to sleep in a bit so Andrew and I can sleep in. Do we think it will happen?
Thirty-three has been by far my favorite year of life and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for thirty-four. PS does anybody else actually really enjoy getting older? I’m liking life more and more with each age.
What is your favorite way to celebrate your bday?
Tell me about the last speed workout that you did?
