Hold Me Accountable

(shorts, tank, bra, shoes, socks, sunglasses)

Morning! I met up with the girls for 9 miles @ 8:26 pace and then picked up another running partner for another mile at the same pace…

BROOKE! She made a new soccer team that is now state-level and wants to run with me this summer a few days a week to get ready for the season.

They will also have practice all summer, but I am fully on board with the miles we will get in together over the next few months.
I need you to hold me accountable… on Monday, in my race report, my goal is to have my last mile faster than the first mile of my 10k. I’m not concerned about hitting an exact time for the race, BUT I want to pace it smart, so hold me accountable. I want to dial into my internal clock and race smart… not the fly-and-die strategy.

His mood sure turned around once he saw the pizza box;).

Just in case you need some swimsuits, my favorites for this season are in this post. I love sports bra-type tops.
He refuses to go on our bikes now because he wants so badly to be on his bike now. Andrew is very proud of this independence on the bike.
My mom came over for reading time.
There is a reason we will never have grass in this area of the yard again…

Book club last night was at Block Restaurant. It was my first time there and it was so good but I only took a picture of an appetizer.

We hated the book so we just talked about everything else going on, ha.

Who has a June birthday, race, or anniversary?

Tell me your run today!

Read any meh books lately? Do you force yourself to finish books you aren’t really into?

Do you finish races with your fastest mile???

Congrats to Brooke! Her running form is great, too. You must be so proud!
Oooo which book did you read? I finished a book a week ago that was so awful but I was determined to finish it just to be able to give a review on Good Reads.
The biggest thing that I am looking forward to in June is the Tour de France documentary coming out on Netflix.

I just love watching her run so much. So the book got amazing reviews ha but it was just so predictable and long in my opinion… Things We Never Got Over. I also didn’t like Knox in the book and his character 🫣! What was your book? Now you have to tell me! Ohhhh I can’t wait for that documentary, I didn’t know it was coming out. Have the best day, Molly!

My son has a birthday in June :) No run today, did a strength training video (Heather Robertson-she’s fantastic). I do force myself to finish books…most recently “The Sun Also Rises”. It was the most tedious book I have ever read, I was so disappointed. I also recently read “Lessons in Chemistry” which I really enjoyed.
Have a great day!

Happy birth month to your son, Deidre! Great job on the strength video today. Good to know, I’ll skip that one ha. Hope your next book is an amazing one. Have a great day!

Do you like the super blast?
Does it have good heel firmness?

I love them… I think I have 400 miles on them right now and they are just still amazing. Yes, it definitely has good heel firmness. Here is my review of them and I hope you have a beautiful day, Lisa!

Wait, what was the book you hated? I try not to DNF anything but I really didn’t enjoy the latest “YOU” Novel (or the latest season of the show). Everyone in those books is so unlikeable (partly by design) but I found the woman he was obsessed with this time to make no sense and be irritating. I also was really disappointed by Romantic Comedy (Curtis Sittenfield).

June is BIG for me! Our anniversary (10 years), my birthday, and our anniversary trip to Kauai WITHOUT the kids for 6 nights. So excited/nervous.

Congrats to Brooke! I’m headed out for 5-6 miles before the day starts. Nothing special but I have a lot of technical work to do so need to clear my head.

Things We Never Got Over… I am just shocked the ratings were so high because I just could not get into this book. SO good to know about YOU. Thank you from saving me from it ha. Ten years, your birthday and a trip to Kauai?!?! Best month ever for you… I want to come with you guys haha. I hope your run was a beautiful one and you come home feeling refreshed!

Congrats, Brooke, on making your soccer team! I know you’ll rock it! Is it bad that I’m curious to know the book you hated? :) My June race is the Grand Tetons half on Saturday! I’m so excited/nervous! It’s only my second half marathon. No run planned for today but plenty of hiking while we see the park before the race. Happy Thursday, Janae!

Things We Never Got Over… Everyone else in the ratings just seemed to love it. We were so confused haha. Emily, I have been wanting to do that race for years. Please give me every detail after, and I need to see pictures. You are going to do amazing and I’m cheering for you!

Ken and I will be married 28 years on 6/17. We feel proud of that!

28 years. You both should feel so proud of that! What are your anniversary plans?!?

I feel like ALL OF Colleen Hoover’s books have fallen flat for me, yet everyone raves about them!! Anything off Reese Witherspoon’s book club I know to avoid haha. Where the Crawdads Sing might as well have been a comedy with what a terrible plot it was, when I read the back cover, I thought it was horror genre because she was known as the “the marsh girl.” It was soooo bad and I was very disappointed.

Hahaha I’m with you… Reese’s book club list does not call to me either. I’m laughing so hard reading your comment. Thank you for this! Have the best day, Lauren!

Congratulations to Brooke!! Very exciting, and how fun to have her run with you.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book I didn’t like. And I didn’t finish 2 of them. I just couldn’t, ha ha.
My birthday is the 26th of this month! Mys sister-in-law and mom-in-law also have birthdays this month.
Today is gym day for me! So some sort of specific workout on the treadmill (haven’t decided yet) then my Barre strength class.
Today is the last day of school for my hubby, yay! Hopefully the weather will warm up so we can really be on summer mode.
Have a great day

Happy birthday month, Wendy! You guys need to all get together to celebrate. I hope your gym day was amazing and yay for your husband being done for the summer!

Hi Janae! Congratulations to Brooke that is awesome!! Looks like a fun summer ahead!
If I buy the book then I force myself to finish it. So I prefer getting books from the library when I can! Then I don’t feel bad just returning a dud without finishing.
There’s a 10k around here where it’s out and back and the first mile is uphill but that means you fly on the last mile! I love it.
Have an awesome day!

She was so so excited! That is so true about it being easier to stop reading a book when it is from a library vs when you pay for it. Ummm I need that course! Thanks Amy, you too:)

I have a lot of friends who cannot NOT finish a book they have started. But if I don’t like a book and I can easily imagine going on with my life and never wondering how it ended, I am done. Life is too short and there are too many good books.

I was supposed to run the Utah Valley marathon this weekend, but when I was ramping up mileage in training I kept having pain in my hip and groin. When I went to an ortho I found out I have arthritis in my hip–I’m only 45! So I am focusing on mobility and strength training right now instead of mileage to keep the hip healthy for as long as possible. But I can’t wait to hear about your 10k. Love the self-experimenting you’re doing right now!

My husband’s birthday is June 7th and we are pregnant with our second child and I am going to be induced with our son on Monday the 5th, so June is going to be a big birthday month for us!

My 23rd anniversary is this month :)

Today was an easy 6 mi run.

I started “Tiny, Beautiful Things” by Cheryl Strayed and didn’t finish it. I usually try and give books at least 50 pages but if I’m still not interested in it by then, then I don’t force myself to finish it.

I usually try and run my last mile as my fastest. Good luck on your 10k!

I used to finish any book I was reading even if I wasn’t into just to finish it but then I realized there are way too many good books out there that I could be spending my time reading so now if I’m not into a book and feel like it isn’t going anywhere or enjoyable I have no problem not finishing it – though I still skim the end just to see what happened. Last book I didn’t finish was Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks.

a good run today….just went, made up the route as I went along….found a memorial that I’d probably run past forever, and just didn’t notice…I just noticed because someone placed a ballon and some candy at it’s base….you know, you never look, but the tree and the memorial is for a girl, birth date apr 20 2006, passed away feb 8 2019…didn’t recognize the name but the inscription ‘our beloved daughter and sister forever our enternal angel’……..so sad….then the run went well….
