My boss, saved us in our time of need, reenactment.

(Top, shorts, socks, shoes, headband that I basically wear every day and therefore wash every day because my skin lady told me it was giving me acne)

Please note:  The above picture is a reenactment of a mile repeat.  There wasn’t a smile from me during our mile repeats, even though forcing a smile would have definitely helped trick my body.

I think it’s the workouts that you really don’t want to do that make you feel the most proud about afterward.  Between sick kids (Andrew was home with them in the morning) and PMS, I did not want to do this workout.  But I did, and I felt prouder than ever at the end.

We did a 2.5-mile w/u and then got into a 7-mile tempo @ 6:51 average.  We did this loop on a hilly one, which felt new because we do so much of our speed on flat roads these days.  We then had a recovery (supposed to be 4 minutes but ended up longer because we needed the restroom) and then started our mile repeats.  My friends running Mesa did 3 of them, and I did 5.  The recoveries for the mile repeats were 90-120 seconds; for some of those, I jogged, and for some of them, I walked.

We decided to do our mile repeats at the track so a big group could all be there and work together regardless of their paces.  When we tried a loop on the original track we were planning, it was way too icy, so we did our first mile repeat to a different track.  How lucky to have another one not that far away!

This one was ice-free, also open to the public, and saved us in our time of need.

One of the many joys of getting a new watch or resetting your watch—> It makes you feel so cool! Look at that trophy; I felt like a true winner seeing that pop-up when I saved my workout.

In my opinion, peak week training uniform should be sweats and only sweats when out of your running clothes (if your lifestyle/boss permits).

Beck is my current boss, and he said he would let it slide this week.

Brooke still wasn’t feeling well, so we spent a good amount of time watching Bluey.  Brooke was craving Great Harvest bread, and so Andrew picked it up for us on his way home from meetings.

Later on I got outside with the littles.

Fresh air is everything.

Sometimes, the easiest dinners are really the best dinners… and having roasted veggies in the fridge makes life even easier.

I have been loving different videos about everyone training for the trials!  Sometimes, all I need is a little YouTube to get me motivated for the rest of a big week.

————————————————————————————————————-

Are there any YouTube clips or channels that help motivate you with training?

Will anyone be in Orlando for the trials?  Who is planning on watching it live on tv?

-I am going to do my best to avoid blinking for all 26.2 miles.

Favorite easy dinner?  Do you meal prep at all at the start of the week?

Anyone going anywhere to escape winter for a bit?

That’s great that there was another track so close! Those mile splits are amazing! Hope the boss agrees!
No tropical vacation planned but a family trip in April to Norther Arizona/Southern Utah for National Park overload. A decade ago my in-laws showed me their photos from Antelope Canyon. I announced that I must visit this place in my lifetime. Now they are taking me (us).
Late tangent: I bought my husband a Tadej Pogacar cycling jersey for Christmas. It arrived and ready to fit me (oops). I finally emailed about a return on Monday night. Yesterday I received an email about instructions for an exchange back to Slovenia. From Tadej’s dad. I am still in shock. I’m two steps away from getting an annual Christmas card.

Boss gave me approval for the workout;) You guys are going to have the absolute best time seeing all of the best (imo) National Parks. I might drive down and have to meet you:) FROM TADEJ’S DAD. You are basically all friends now. That’s incredible that his dad is the one in charge of getting his jerseys out to his fans. I love it. Happy Wednesday, Molly!

What a great little video. And that’s where you live! Very cool and very inspiring. And awesome job on your workout too.
Poor Brooke, I hope she’s feeling better today.
Hope your Wednesday is a good one!

You are going to do amazing in your marathon! I will live through you :)
One of my favorite easy dinners is rotisserie chicken or steak with Dr. Praeger’s veggie patty (I get at Trader Joe’s) and some cilantro lime rice (90 sec pouch from Costco) all mixed into a big salad w/lettuce and whatever salad things I have around, all topped w/honey mustard dressing and pumpkin seeds.
My dad is Australian, so I used to spend the winter months down there, but sadly not this year. Spring will be here soon, right??!

Thank you! I’m just so ready to taper. Ummm how have I never tried these vegie patties? Sounds like the perfect dinner. Next time you hit up Australia for the winter, I am coming. So cool! I hope you have a wonderful day, Geni!

One of my favorite easy dinners is quiche– also a good “use-up-the-fridge” meal. Loaded nachos are another quick go-to. Not a lot of meal prep unfortunately, except for with the babies (making purees and whatnot), but I do like buying blocks of cheese and using food processor to pre-shred, etc (mostly because it’s cheaper, not gonna lie!). I do appreciate my previous planning when I have meal-prepped, or at least meal planned, though!!!

We are going to Puerto Rico in less than a month!!! SOOOOOO EXCITED! Give me the beach! =]

How have I forgotten about quiche! You are motivating me to save money by shredding it myself. Ummmm I didn’t know you were going to Puerto Rico? Are you taking the kids or no???

Reply

We are taking the kids! And get this– over break I was telling a dear girlfriend about it and she told me she has tons of Southwest points and has been dying to have a warm-weather trip during the winter. She lives in Colorado but is going to meet us at our layover and join us for the trip to help with the kids. I was worried about it not being as much a “family trip” but I think it will help make us more relaxed so we can ENJOY it even more!!! :)

ps– if you put the grater attachment on the food processor, shredding a block of cheese takes minutes– and the kids will LOVE doing it (at least Enso does!).

Ummm that almost sounds TOO good to be true. Courtney, you are going to have the best time and you need the relaxation so badly. Seriously brilliant. Thanks friend!

We are going to Disney World in two weeks! I’m very excited! I am wondering how it will impact my Boston training because I’m probably not going to have much time to run. My training has been going well so far and I’m into it, so I don’t want to lose momentum. But also don’t want to be stressing about fitting training into to Disney World. Maybe all the walking will count.

You mentioned wearing sweats only during peak week and I have a question for you about sweats. I have been stalking all the all cool Boston marathon 2024 gear by Adidas. I finally bought myself a cute sweatsuit and I’m very excited to wear it. Do you think I will jinx myself if I wear it before the race? I was thinking it would be a nice reward and motivating to be able to come home after a long workout and put on my boston sweats . But I’m also superstitious . Do I need to save the boston gear until I actually complete the race? I know this might be a controversial topic :)

Jenny,

Lol, that would be a fun vote. Maybe Janae can post your question on her blog tomorrow? I’m going to vote to not wear the Boston 2024 gear prior to the race.

Such a good idea! I’ll put it up in the questions tomorrow! Thanks John!

Disney World! Oh I am so excited for you guys. Can you schedule it in to make sure that is your downweek for training? I fully feel like the time on your feet will be great for training. You are going to do so well at Boston and I need to see a picture of the sweatsuit. Mind if I ask this in tomorrow’s question? I would LOVE to see how people feel about it!
