Wealth, Never Imagined, Sleep Tap.

(Shirt, shorts, shoes)

I was woken up a few times on Monday night, and it wasn’t by my children… Now and then, I get taps on my shoulder in the middle of the night from Andrew.  He is COMPLETELY asleep when he does it, and he is a very polite shoulder tapper, but it is just something he sometimes does ha.

I’ll never forget when we first got married, and one night, I woke up to him sleep eating graham crackers dipped into milk during the night.

8.18 miles @ 8:42 average for Tuesday, and I have another short workout today—> 300m repeats.  I’ve never done 300m repeats, so I’m excited for some new PRs;).

Long-sleeve/shorts weather will always be my favorite run weather.

I’ve gotten a few questions about what is in the Power Greens, so here is a picture of them.  I always saw them at Costco but never imagined Andrew and I going through almost a bag daily.

Another motivation I had for this new change and joining my sister in her smoothie habit happened a few weeks ago.  I had a UTI that got so bad it went to my kidneys one weekend (THE BACK PAIN), and I had to get myself to urgent care while Andrew was home in pain from his broken fibula… It was kind of a rock bottom moment.  Yes, we’ve got the exercise side of things covered, but Andrew and I need to be doing everything we can to take care of the bodies we have.  HEALTH IS WEALTH.

A few of my children (I won’t name any names) bet against me that I wouldn’t last longer than a week without soda.   Here I am, proving them wrong and cheersing with Beck’s morning sippy cup.

My brother-in-law is the coach for Cosmo and BYU’s dunk team, so we were able to get them to come for an assembly.  The kids all went nuts for them.

I get nervous skipping a stair, and these humans fly through the air.

We also went and helped in Skye’s classroom (Kindergarten teachers deserve awards), and Beck loved having a day at school with so many kids.

We are now working on removing the wood that was placed around our fireplace because it turns out wood and fire don’t mix well together.

This pink pasta recipe is so so good.

Big fans.

I did not support this purchase.

I did support this purchase.

Do you ever sleepwalk/talk/anything strange?

-One of our kids used to have night terrors, and that was TERRIFYING!

Egg nog feelings?

When does Christmas go up in your home?

-I started putting a bit up yesterday and it feels so good.

Who has a speed workout this week and what is it?

I am going to try your smoothie Janae! What liquid do you use to make it? Is it just water? Thanks and have a great day!

Just water! Let me know what you think and I hope you have a beautiful day, Mary♥️

I have 3mintempo directly into 3×400 x3 with devreasing rest! Thankful my coach programs my app so my watch remembers everything. All the other days this week are easier so this one is supposed to be hard

Veronica, that workout sounds amazing. I love that you get it programed into your watch. I’m sure you are going to crush this and PLEASE let me know how it goes afterward.

I’ve been grinding my teeth since I was quite young. My parents would be able to hear me from down the hall– they said it was like I was chewing walnuts (shells on, ha). When I was really stressed in dental school that picked up and I’d also groan in my sleep so my husband had to shake me out of it haha. I’ll start Christmas around the house in December, but I’ve put a few things in Enso’s room because this is the first year he’s really understanding Christmas (excited for Ho Ho to visit, as he calls Santa). I do love the cozy vibe Christmas decorations create.
Oh, big ask! You’ve inspired the cookies I’ve brought to my Christmas-cookie swap for the past few years (through recipes I’ve gotten through your site). Any new favorites?
Have a wonderful day!

NO WAY! Oh I used to grind my teeth pretty bad too but for some reason it changed. I bet the stress made it all so much worse. As a dentist, what are you doing for your teeth grinding now. I love that Enso is calling Santa Ho Ho. So so cute. Courtney, that is a big ask because I take this so seriously. I will start my research and tasting today and get back to you. Cookie exchanges are no joke. Have the best day!

Fully agree on the long shirt & shorts being the best running weather. Its perfect.
I actually started also doing things while asleep without remembering any of it the next day. Mostly talking apparently and calling for my husband. He finds it very strange but nothing you can do when you are not even conscious.

Right?! Oh and I’ll add some gloves too because then it truly is my favorite temperature:). Oh that is so interesting that you recently started doing that. Not a thing you can do… that’s why I don’t get mad at Andrew for waking me up in the middle of deep sleep ha. Hope your morning is off to a fabulous start, Karina!

What a fun assembly for the kids! Those people are so impressive!!
My husband sleep walks somewhat often, when he’s been really stressed and not sleeping well. It’s always slightly entertaining to see where in the house he ends up, ha ha.
We love celebrating Thanksgiving as Thanksgiving, so Christmas doesn’t start going up until the day after.
That pasta sounds so good.
Today I’m doing the last of the Peloton 5 Boroughs run. They have been so fun!! Then definitely going to get in core and strength.
Have a great Wednesday!

He sleep walks! Haha I bet that is entertaining for you. Oh that Peloton run sounds amazing. Enjoy and good call on waiting to get Christmas up until after Thanksgiving. Thanks Wendy, you too!

I love eggnog so I fully support Andrew’s purchase. I am not a fan of pumpkin spice anything but give me all the eggnog flavored stuff especially a latte! I tend to sleep walk if I am super stressed or worried about something. Always freaks me out if I wake up in the middle of it and I don’t remember how I got to another room of my house. I am holding out on decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving except our outdoor lights are up already since we have been having an amazing weather in Illinois right now.

Reply

I hope you get all of the eggnog this season. You sleep walk… ahhh that is so freaky. I cannot imagine. I hope you continue to have amazing weather, we are having our longest fall ever and I’m in heaven. Thanks Corrinne!

My husband talks in his sleep; sometimes it’s funny and occasionally rude. (Like the time he told me shut up and go to sleep because my questions/confusion were annoying him😂. He never says that when awake).

I decorate after Thanksgiving but usually leave decorations up until Epiphany.

Reply

Nina! Oh my goodness, haha that is too funny. A different side emerges when your husband is asleep! Enjoy decorating soon and thank you for telling me about Epiphany. I didn’t know what it was until your comment and I started searching it online. Very cool. Hope your day is a great one!

Did you say you use 1/2 cup of chia seeds in your smoothie? Can you tell we’re all smoothie crazy :)
I usually add spinach to mine but not as much as you do. I also use almond milk and add protein powder.

I don’t do many speed workouts but I should. I usually try to end my run on a hill that I’ll do 2-3x .

i work in NYC and Christmas prep is in full swing!

Reply

Smoothie crazy… yes! It makes us feel so much better. Yep, 1/2 cup of chia seeds. Don’t quote me on this but I guess our foods today are so robbed of the Omega 3s that we need that the chia (or flax) punch of Omega 3s is so helpful for our overall health and hormone function. No joke. I feel like a new human. Hill work is speed work in disguise. Oh, I bet it is… I want to visit for Christmas. Hope you have a beautiful day, Deidre!

I did a speed workout this morning. I copied your 600×4 workout and added 2×400 all out at the end with a 2 mile w/u and 2 mile c/d. I gave it the ol college try but the speed was just not there this morning. However, getting out on the track and going all out always makes me feel better the rest or the day.

And I second your comment that shorts and long-sleeve shirt weather is THE BEST running weather. It’s been low-40s with little wind in the mornings lately and it’s been amazing!

Reply

YES!! Way to get out there and do it and it’s all about effort… you gave your best for the day. I’m so with you, it feels cleansing to get to the track. Oh goodness, the weather of our dreams. We are right there with you. Best fall we have ever had. Have a wonderful day, KJ!

I completely agree that health is wealth – doctor visits and medical treatments are SO expensive compared to smoothies(even if you have to buy tons of greens at Costco, it’s still cheaper!). Egg nog, no thanks, but my husband and brothers all think it’s delicious. We fully put up Christmas about a week before (and then keep it up until 2 weeks after). I start putting up some of the greens & a few things like that right after Thanksgiving. I’ve always felt like Thanksgiving is the kickoff to Christmas! Speaking of Thanksgiving, that snuck up on me fast – next week already!? 46 days until Christmas too.

Reply

AMEN. So expensive and when we are sick… we realize that money means nothing, feeling good and experiencing life with our people is everything. I cannot believe that Christmas is as soon as it is and Thanksgiving next week? HOW? Hope you have a wonderful day, Katie.

Be thankful that Andrew just taps you in the night. Les has whacked me pretty hard a few times!

Les loves Eggnog, I’m not really a fan. Ghirardelli made eggnog chocolates last year and they were pretty good.

I’ve never done Christmas before Thanksgiving. Honestly, by New Year’s I am pretty tired of it all, so I don’t think I could have it up any longer.

I saw a guy today who was flying and realized I haven’t done speed work in ages!

Reply

Whacked you haha. I am very grateful for his politeness in waking me up;). Hmmm might have to try a sip of the Ghirardelli variety. I’m guessing I’ll be sick of it all in a month so I probably should have waited ha. Hope your morning is a great one so far.

Haha, that’s so funny about Andrew! When my aunt and uncle got married, she woke up to him standing on their bed, running his fingers up and down the blinds. Two of my kids talk in their sleep and I always forget until we share a room when we travel. I talk in my sleep once in a great while.

Egg nog is awful. Two of my kids like it and I do not understand.

Christmas is up in my house :) My two oldest work at Chick Fil A, so since they had last Sunday off, we decided to put it up then because I will be out of town this weekend, and this way we can enjoy it longer!

No speed work for me this week because I have Big Bear on Saturday! Eek. I’m so excited.

Reply

UP AND DOWN THE BLINDS… Ummm that would freak me out so bad haha. I want to hear my kids sleep talk so I know what they are dreaming about. Yay for Christmas up. Ummm do you get a discount? I need my kids to work there to save me money. Keep enjoying it all and good luck on Saturday. It is your day. I know you are going to have the race of your life. Soak it all up and know I’ll be thinking of you!

It’s a no-go on the egg nog for me. Christmas went up at my house last week and my outdoor house light are on too. If I wait until Thanksgiving or after I feel like I’m behind schedule, imo. My daughter’s birthday is around Thanksgiving so that means one weekend is all about her and we celebrate Thanksgiving early with extended family so for scheduling I have to get Christmas up early. I love it though. I will say that by Dec. 27 or 28 I’m ready to pack it up.

I love how you make it all work with this extra busy time of year for you guys! I’m with you, usually I’m putting it away on December 25th at midnight haha. Have a beautiful day!

You’ve inspired me, Janae! I’ve made the smoothie the last two days now. I’m using flax seeds and spinach/romaine, because that’s what I have. And I’m not quite to your levels (half a cup and half a pound!) but I’m really enjoying it. Just like you – I have the exercise part down pat, but need a nutrition refresh! Thanks for the push!

STOP IT. Oh, this makes me so so happy. We’ve got this, Maria! Keep me updated!

Question! Did you ramp up to 1/2 cup of chia seeds a day? That seems like a ton! The bag says 2 tbsp per day is recommended…do you notice any GI side effects from so much fiber? TMI, sorry!

Reply

Never TMI with me! My mom’s GI can only handle 1/4 cup but mine has been great with 1/2. But maybe try to build up to it?

This is no ordinary waffle. Waffle game is a highly entertaining game for all players who love word guessing games. You can play with any time. The game is unlimited so you can play multiple times a day without worry.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……walked into a grocery store today..Christmas decorations and Christmas muzak, already…..December 1st, yes, out outside lights are up and on…just because, but, think I may go shopping at COSTCO next week, I’m guessing they have their spring stock up already…

Your anecdotes about Andrew’s sleep habits are amusing, and the sleep-eating story with graham crackers dipped in milk must have been a surprise!
