Friday Favorites!

On our trip to Budapest, Brooke tucked away a note for Andrew in his backpack for him to read on the plane. In the note, she talked about how much she loved camping with him. We looked at each other and said we needed to make camping happen more often. So we did.

We got this tent a few years ago, and it is amazing. It took 5 minutes to put up, it has a light, and it easily fits the 6 of us (including Beck’s pack-and-play) with extra room.

Lauren loaned us her blackout cover that goes over the pack-and-play; it saved us. Beck slept the entire night… the last time we took him, he was up all night!

I was in 4 layers, but they were fine in their t-shirts.

Going to start doing this more often.

Brooke wanted me to show you that she has perfect roasting marshmallows.

I shared this on IG but when we were helping moving things for Mer’s house yesterday, there were so many of my blog posts that Mer had printed out. It meant the world to me. I’ve gone to text her a few times this week before remembering she is gone.
These were from 2012:

I have a bunch of favorites for you today:

*I’ve worn this Wool Shacket three days in a row now. It’s so comfortable and currently 17% off on Amazon!

*Before I left on my trip, my friend Jo told me about the best travel pillow. I ordered it immediately and slept for most of the way home with it (I was too excited to sleep on the way there). It was much better than any others I have tried, and I held my head perfectly to sleep.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is A951C3C3-6D65-42F7-9D38-6E28FFFB1431-897x1024.jpeg

*A few people asked for some links to a few of the things I wore on my trip and loved–> This was the black long sleeve Rickie Top, the Ripstop Pants, my coat, swimsuit, fleece pullover, green purse, and lulu dress.

*My favorite 2 p.m. pick-me-up is back in my life because the temps have dropped. This flavor is so good, and I use this electric tea kettle all winter to stay warm here.

I love every mountain picture!!
You know, some people wear expensive jewelry to show off wealth. And some people print out things with colored ink. What a flex. (heheheh)
This weekend is my work weekend. I suppose that works out well since it’s taper time!
Have a great weekend!

Haha I was thinking about how much she must have spent on colored ink… she must have really loved me 🤍. Taper time! Molly, I have a really good feeling about your marathon. Good things are coming your way (especially after all of the mental tips you learned from the tour)!

Janae! You are going to LOVE Seville, I am so excited for you! Seville is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with such an interesting mix of Arabian and European culture. Make you sure you visit the ‘Metropol Parasol’ and the ‘Real Alcazar’, one of the most stunning palaces in the world. And the food…you are going to think you have died and gone to heaven with all the tapas dishes to sample.
Have a great weekend!

I love camping! I wish we had done more of it when the boys were younger.
I’m currently reading Where’d You Go Bernadette… It’s funny.
I’m helping with a big fundraising event for the nonprofit I volunteer with on Saturday. It should be fun. Other than that, more yard work. But, the temps are finally going to cool off, so I am really looking forward to that.
I love that Mer printed out your blogs. So sweet.
Have a great Friday Janae!

So do you backpack in to the camp place? Or is this a campground you can park at? Do you bring all food? I need a go camping guidebook because my kids would love it and I don’t mind it. But it’s not my husband favorite thing to do.

Hey! We just had to hike to our spot for about .25 miles so super close. We roasted hot dogs for dinner and brought fruit. I hope you get to go soon, your kids will love it. Thanks Mary!

Camping is meh for me. Like, I love the beauty of it when I’m there and I like the idea of it. But the prepping for it is a nightmare! Plus, I just want to wash my hands, haha. I’m currently reading The Covenant of Water (I was intimidated by the length but I’m almost half way through now, it’s so good) and The Art of Gathering.

Sooo true, the prep and cleanup is so much work! Still working on the laundry! I get nervous about really long books too but you are inspiring me. Have a great weekend, Tess!

What a sweet find from Mer!

Les has been at a work conference all week and gets home today. Looking forward to a weekend at home together!

I love camping. Our family use to camp at Morro Bay and San Simeon (central California coast) It was the best in the summer! We’d all get to escape the heat. usually waking up to cool, overcast mornings. One year we all went to Heart Castle and because our group was so big we got our own tour guide.

It really was, I had no idea she did that. So happy Les is back home today, enjoy! Ummmm I bet that spot was the prettiest for camping. I’ve been to the Hearst Castle, that place is incredible. Happy weekend, Kathy!

Okay I’m not trying to be that person but if you like the chai chill you know the energy is like 100x better right??? And if you don’t want caffeine they make the energy in caffeine free and I promise it’s soooo much better than the chill. K sorry I’m done 🙈
Signed, not that person 🤣

I love camping! We go tenting every year in Banff for a week. I do almost all the prep and camping work by myself and still love it.

Congrats on your recent marathons! How fun to travel as a couple and share it xxx

Your story about your Mer and printing your blog posts had me in tears – honestly how sweet.

I loved these 2 books recently – flew through both of them!

We love camping! Back before kids, my husband and I would camp before hiking 14ers and backpacking. We were too intimidated to try camping with little ones. Then in the fall of 2020, our neighbors upgraded their camper and sold us their old pop up camper. Best purchase ever! Our first time camping, we took our newly 3 yr old and 6 week old camping and it was so much fun! It’s not fancy, basically tent camping above ground. (No water, and no heat or ac) it takes mg husband just 10 mins to set it up all by himself while I distract the kids. We don’t use it as much as we’d like… but try for 2-3 times a year. The no heat or ac really limits us. Our kids love it and it’s such a fun way to disconnect and have family time.
The most beautiful camping spot I think we have been to was Lake Irwin outside Crested Butte. Lots of mountain lakes and we kayaked on the water and hikes around. Our favorite spot though is Ohaver Lake near Salida. Camping spots are just a few feet from the lake.
