The time we ran her to the hospital to have her baby + pictures from my phone.

(Shorts, shoes, tank)

Yesterday was one of my new favorite run memories.  We ran Lauren to the hospital to have her baby.  She is amazing.  She will take ten weeks off after having the baby, but I love that she could run to the hospital and invited us to join her.

Her husband met us there with her stuff and some hashbrowns for her to eat:)

And then we set up for a few miles afterward for a total of 8 @ 8:25.  Ummmm, the river is up to this bench now!

Now let’s go through some pictures from my phone…

*tru fru sent me a package with these… the coconut ones are too good.

*We are out in the street playing and staying up way too late every night.  I’m not sure we will ever be able to get back on a schedule again.

*One con of summer is that I feel like the big kids are gone more, but they also have so much fun at both houses.

*I came across this picture and saved it because it made me want to pass out.  This marathon started at 30°F in the canyon but probably got up to 50-55° once we were out of the canyon… How did I have a tank top and a tight long sleeve/turtleneck?  I would be in a sports bra and pouring water on top of my head with temps like this now, ha;)

*Quality time together:

*My hydrangeas have been so forgiving. If I forget to water them and they start dying, I water them quickly, and they come back alive.

*Knox’s dream… a break from swimming to having a tray of chips and salsa.

*These girls made a cake!

*We are off for a family trip!

*Does it get any cooler than this?

Tell me something interesting today, we’ve got a long car ride and I want to hear what’s on your brain!

I’m not sure anyone can beat running their friend to the hospital to have a baby!!!! How was she able to do that? How far from the hospital does she live? I hope she has a quick easy delivery. Congratulations to her!!!!!
there’s nothing interesting going on here today. Just work, work, and more work. I’m counting down the 8 hours. It’s really nice out and my garden is calling my name.
Have a fun trip!

Just a few hours! Seriously, she might be the only human doing it ha. She just delivered this morning at 3 am so it was a very long day for her. I hope your day flies by and you are out in the garden before you know it. Thanks Lee!

She ran to the hospital?! How strong!! Sending well wishes!

The thing on my brain lately is how to get better at meal planning. I’m not great at it, I go through phases. Especially over the summer! Any advice? Or suggested recipes? I love seeing recipes other people like, especially for easy, tasty, and healthy-ish meals.

Thank you so much, Mariah! Ohhhhh how I would love to know some tips for this question too! Can anyone help us? We’ve been eating out way too much! I do always love anything from A Bountiful Kitchen!

I tried the frozen strawberry tru fru for the first time a few months ago and my life is changed. But I’m too scared to buy any of them because I know that is ALL I will eat, haha! Also, Brooke’s freckles kill me – SO cute. I’ve always loved freckles probably because my Mom had tons, but I didn’t get them. Have so much fun on your trip! :)

Somebody was just telling Brooke yesterday about how cute her freckles are! I need to drop off the other flavors from tru fru, they are all so so good. Have the best day, Tess!

I love that you ran your friend to the hospital. That is such a fun way to go into having a baby.

Let’s see on my brain is getting to pick up my oldest from junior high camp at church, and I will probably cry when I see her. I’m equal parts excited for her as she grows up, but also my heart breaks with them getting older. I’m sure you feel a bit like that when Brooke gets on a plane each time.

Other things I’ve been thinking over, how easy it is to get complacent about things we’re able to do (i.e. complain about running or not wanting or feeling like going out) and how that perspective changes when we just can’t. 2.5 months ago after months of getting sick a lot and getting many weird symptoms, I went to my Dr bc I knew something was wrong. I’m grateful it wasn’t life threatening, but I learned I have/gad almost no iron in my body. Turns out iron is really important for a lot of regular bodily things. Not the least of which is getting adequate oxygen to our organs, muscles, breathing. Who knew? 🤣🤣🙈 So I’ve had to give up running for a time, because it causes us to lose a lot of iron, and my levels are so low they aren’t replenishing much if any. So I’ve had to rest a ton, let my body recover, but oh how I miss it. Funny how the things we can take for granted suddenly show us how much we care for them when they’re taken away. I can’t wait to run again, and hoping my blood check in a few weeks shows improvement!

Oh Beth. I relate! It is so exciting to see them spread their wings but then I want to just have them back by my side at all times. I cannot wait for you to see her and that hug will be so special.

I am so so sorry you are going through this. I bet you miss it so much but you are making the best choice to take a break and rest. Will you please keep me updated with how you are doing? I hope everything in life feels better once your levels are back up. Thinking about you.

I’m counting down the hours. I cannot wait to hug her and see her! And thank you. I do miss it so much, but vicariously live through your posts. I also get out to walk when I feel up for it. I will keep you updated for sure!

Was she in labor or being induced? I walked while I was in labor, but I can’t imagine actually running. I remember walking with a neighbor while I was having contractions and it really meant a lot to me that she (also pregnant) took the time to keep me company and she told our husbands and toddlers who were trailing me to leave me alone. It is a special memory for me, but she doesn’t remember it at all. :)

Reply

I love that you have that memory with your neighbor. Hahah I hope she remembers it one day😂 Yes, she was induced so she found out that morning what time and then started running! Have a beautiful day, Allison.

I can’t believe she ran to the hospital!!! What a trooper

This was her second but she did it for her first too! Yay for new swimsuits, I have a post here with the ones I’m wearing this summer. I love the sports bra type look. Happy summer, Deirdre!

Hi! Haven’t commented in a minute because my husband and I were on a DREAM vacation for our 10 year wedding anniversary/my birthday last week in Kauai! It was amazing, and if you haven’t been but plan to go and want tips feel free to hit me up. We ate all the fresh fish, did all the hikes and saw turtles, dolphins, etc. etc. I have recommendations! One thing I did NOT anticipate was all the mud on the trails, once we sort of decided to go with it it was fun, but a pair of running shoes def. stayed in Hawaii.

Anyway the trip is still on my mind (just a little- ha), and then the normal things, work, kid schedules, The Bachelorette contenders, the latest book I read, if my cat really likes me, running… you know…

And, without intruding on your friend’s personal life I feel like I want more details! Did she go into labor and call you to run!? I am assuming she has other kids so SORT of knew the drill because I could not imagine being that calm as a first-timer!

Safe travels!

Kauai!!! Oh my gosh I am so so happy for you two. Happy anniversary! Crazy but I think Andrew and I might be going there soon🤍 I’ll have to get ideas on what to do and eat from you! The things on your mind made me smile so big. I’m sure your cat loves you! She is an open book hahah so I’ll answer for her:) it was a scheduled induction but she didn’t know what time until she called in the morning and it was earlier than expected so I rushed over. She has one other but she also did this with her too! She is amazing. Hope you are having the best day and hope adjusting back to normal life is going well and that you don’t miss that pair of shoes you left too much!

Yes! Let me know for sure… one thing I would DEF. advice on is that if you want to do the Kalalau trail at the State Park (which you should 100% do- it’s 2.2 gorgeous miles out to a beach that is only accessible by hike (!), and then hardcore people can go all the way out 11 miles on what was an ancient costal trail to a campsite), you need to get passes WAY ahead of time.

It’s a really cool system they put in place in 2019- the beach at the start and the hike were getting just totally destroyed and the roads had become overparked and dangerous… so with the pass only system they went from 3,000 visitors to the beach a day to 900! But it takes some planning. I was able to snag two shuttle passes about 2 weeks out but I was checking daily to get them. If you have advance notice they release ahead 30 days out. https://gohaena.com/ Anyway, if you guys are going to try to go this summer, recommend the hike and DEF. get the passes- with the shuttle pass you can park and ride out and stay all day long.

Anyway, that’s just a sample of my hot tips!

Between your friend running to the hospital to have her baby (freaking amazing!) and that world record just gave me the biggest motivational boost because when I saw that she is 38 it makes me so excited for all the running I have ahead of me! I’m 36 and 20 weeks pregnant and still able to run which has been awesome and I can’t wait to get back out there and train after baby arrives!!! You are also one of my biggest inspirations and it’s just been so amazing watching you crush your goals over the years!! I hope y’all have a great trip!

Reply

Congratulations Blaire! 20 weeks, I’m so happy for you. Are you having a girl or boy? Yes, you have so much time to hit your running dreams! Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. So happy you are still running, you are amazing.

Thank you!! We’re having another boy- I’m outnumbered now with my husband and 2 boys :) but I’m excited- it’ll be great!

I’m SO happy for you and seeing your boys together will be amazing!

What?! Amazing and so strong! Was it a scheduled induction? I could walk but that it when I was laboring!

Reply

Yes! A scheduled induction! Hahah I was telling her that I couldn’t even walk with beck… they used a golf cart to get me to my wheel chair! Have a beautiful day, Susie!

A few things over here today…
We currently have the worst air quality in the country today. Wild fire smoke is out of control currently.
My food drive is this week and today was the first day I collected items. It’s so touching for people to donate.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for Lauren, hope everything goes great with her. That’s the best story of getting to the hospital!!

my life right now is to stay away from news channels and newspapers..I’ve been addicted for too long, so either I’m running, biking or swimming or watching bike races and triathlons on TV…..also, the count down to the tour de france…always motivating…and spending a lot of time figuring out a training for old guys….I wanna be 18 again
