How did you not tell me about this and my first DIY project.

Oh ya know…. Brooke is just working on her yoga.  Her flexibility amazes me.

IMG 8879

We went over to my friends’ house yesterday morning to borrow her sewing machine (and her talent and skills) to make a banner for Brooke’s room.  We worked hard and after a few hours of cutting, sewing and trying to keep two kiddos entertained at the same time we were ready for lunch.

How come you guys have never told me about how good these things are?  I am absolutely hooked.   Dip them in guac and you will be incredibly happy.

DSC 1572

For lunch she made us the best taco salads.  Spinach, cheese, sour cream, guac, ranch and a turkey/bean chili topping.

DSC 1576

Why don’t I have milkshakes after lunch more often?  It really is such a great idea to finish your meal with a vanilla and Reese’s Fast Break milkshake.  This was the fuel that got us through the end of our project.

And the finished product:

Mark your calendars for a week from today… I think that is when the nursery will be complete and I know you are all dying to see a post with at least 40 pictures of every square inch of the room.

What were you doing from the hours of 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm last night?  I was taking the best nap ever.   I was so deep asleep that the second I woke up I started saying, ‘where am I supposed to be right now!?!??!’  I think I thought it was morning and that I had a spin class to teach.  I was so confused.

Earlier on in the day I told Billy I was going to make salmon with fresh lemon and sautéed spinach and feta.

When I woke up the last thing that sounded fun on my list of fun things to do for the rest of the night was make dinner so mac and cheese it was!  Like I said in my last post, simple foods are sometimes (99.9% of the time) the best option.

————————————————————————————–

Since you haven’t told me to try Pop Chips before is there any other delicious food/snack that you need to tell me to try!?!

FAVORITE milkshake flavor/add-in?

What DIY projects have you done?

Do you snore/sleep talk/sleep walk?

-I snore.  I will fully admit it.  It is pretty loud too.  Poor Billy.  I have slept talk a few times before.

I love reeses pieces milkshakes! And oreo milkshakes too as long as the cookies aren’t blended too much. Sometimes I sleep talk, I once asked my roommate to go to the super bowl and she still won’t let me live it down!

Reply

Milkshakes for lunch- now that’s genius. Actually, milkshakes at any time are genius. I can’t wait to see this room! You have been working so hard on it! Make sure to add a little yoga corner for brooke to practice her crow pose. She’ll be the next youtube sensation.

What a cute banner! I can’t wait to see how the entire nursery comes out! Eeeekkk! How exciting! And those chips are fabulous. I love them sooo much!

I snore….. Loud :/ I really sometimes wake myself up and I can’t help but laugh because really, who wakes themselves up from snoring??…. me, that’s who.
I am in love with Cocoa Roasted Almonds. I bet you’ve had those already. I think I remember you posting them.
I do a lot of diy projects. We move in 3 months, let the decorating diy begin soon!!! I’m talking curtains, bed skirts, the works!

Her little pigtails put a smile on my face every time I see them! :)

Can’t wait for the nursery reveal! I never do DIY projects. I love exercising but hate anything crafty. It’s not in my genes.

Luckily I only snore when I have a bad cold. So embarrassing!

Reply

My husband tells me I talk in my sleep all the time. He works nights and gets home around 3 to climb in bed. He says I say the weirdest stuff to him. LOL. I love just a plain old chocolate milk shake! Have you ever tried Eat Your Vegetables chips? They are delicious and come in different flavors. Each snack size bag is a full serving of veggies!

Reply

I will definitely mark the calendar…can’t wait to see Brooke’s room! Banner is adorable. I have never tried the chips, but then again, I live in the middle of nowhere and doubt my store even has them yet. Maybe in 10 years…we seem to be that far behind! ;)

Reply

The pictures of Brooke make my day….her smile is contagious. Pop chips are the greatest snack food. Can’t wait to see brookes room. Looks and sounds like you are having fun preparing it with all your great friends.

Reply

All that hard work paid off- that banner is adorable!! Last DIY project I did was painting with my boyfriend. It was his idea that we throw ourselves into the project and it turned out to be a really fun saturday!

Reply

I CAN’T WAIT to see every square inch of that room… in pictures and in real life! The banner looks great! I’ve never tried pop chips either. If you’ve never had snyders flavored pretzel pieces you NEED to. They come in tons of flavors… my favorite is cheddar. Let me know what you think :-)

Reply

I totally agree with your Snyder’s pretzel suggestion :-).

Reply

Those milkshakes look so good! Haven’t thought to have one of those since I was little, they definitely need a comeback. Can’t wait to see how the nursery turns out, the banner looks great!

Reply

So many things to comment on! Pop Chips are my favorite. 1) I can’t eat just one serving. 2)That salad reminds me of the taco salad @ McAlister’s, which I love. 3) Annddd I feel for Billy. My husband snores and I don’t love it one bit. :)

Reply

I love the banner and the colors that you used! A milkshake after lunch is a great idea! Can’t wait to see more pics of Brooke’s room!

Reply

Ohhh, I love naps. When the stars align and both of my girls nap at the same time on the weekend, I usually take the opportunity to catch some zzzz’s too. Sometimes an old-fashioned vanilla milkshake hits the spot! I am a sleep talker and used to scare the daylights out of my college roommate when I would sit up in bed and start ranting & raving.

Today is my youngest’s 1st birthday. I really don’t know where the last year went – it just flew by! Looking forward to a messy cake smash tonight!!

Reply

I love milkshakes, especially chocolate! The weather is warming up here, can’t wait to have one!!!! :)
Can’t wait to see Brooke’s room!!!

Pop chips are sooooo good! Were obsessed with the bbq flavor. I’m glad you discovered them :) I snore too…especially when my allergies are bad…so basically all the time. The banner looks great! I can’t wait to see the room.

Reply

My newest favorite snack is the Snyder’s pretzel sticks in the onion and pumpernickel flavor. It sounds pret-ty weird, but man are they good. I need to go whip up a batch of dill dip to stick those bad boys into.

Ps, it should be ILLEGAL how cute Brooke is.

Reply

My new favorite snack is Funfetti Dip with graham crackers! I might try it with my apple slices and see if that’s also delish because I may or may not have overdosed on the crackers haha. A single serving is just 3 tbsp cake mix, 2 tbsp plain yogurt & 1 tbsp lite Cool Whip. So yummy.

Also I don’t think I snore! I do think I’ve talked in my sleep before, though. Poor Billy indeed. :P

Reply

I like plain vanilla milkshakes. Once things start getting added the milkshake becomes to rich for my taste. I’ve not done any DIY project recently, but I am hoping to do some projects outside when the whether gets a little nicer. I don’t snore, but I’ve been told I breath really heavy in my sleep — maybe I’m running in my dreams.

Reply

DIY- I’m working on a baby-toddler puzzle that we found at the thrift store for 50 cents. It’s a what-is-that-animal shape, and it’s coming along nicely with the hope of teaching colors while being fun.

One of the best things I’ve made were car seat & stroller toys- (cost almost nothing!)-

http://www.newmomstalk.com/2013/03/11/egg-struments-diy-car-seat-and-stroller-toys/

I’m a vanilla milkshake girl. When I worked at DQ as a teenager, I’d always add in extra malt.

Reply

I love Kettle brand krinkle cut fresh ground pepper and sea salt chips! They are so yummy. My favorite milshake is plain old chocolate. I don’t know if this counts as a DIY but I unweeded some logos and ironed them on to some shirts. I talk in my sleep, I’m famous in my family for often saying the “bus is coming” in my sleep. Can’t wait to see Brooke’s Nursery. I like the patterns you picked out.

Reply

My fiancé snores. He doesn’t believe me!

I work third shift so I sleep from about 1pm until 8 or 9 pm….the other day I shot out bed at 6:45 pm fully convinced that it was 6:45am and that I had slept through work. It was special.

Reply

I snore when I have a cold and I used to sleep walk a lot when I was younger!

If you haven’t tried these, you NEED to: Food Should Taste Good white cheddar flavored tortilla chips! They remind me of Smart Food but as tortilla chips…sooo addicting!

Reply

Have you tried the guacamole flavored chips? They are pretty awesome!

Brooke’s room is going to be so cute!

Reply

My husband snores. And I talk. Best one ever was during a nap at my mom’s house, when I’m told I sat up, pointed and yelled LOOK AT THE KITTY!” And then continued to sleep until laughter woke me up.
Have you tried Chocolate Cheerios? I love any excuse for chocolate at breakfast!

Reply

– Stacy’s Pita Chips! Great with hummus.
– I LOVE caramel milkshakes
– I don’t sleep talk often but onetime I accused my husband of eating the last of the lettuce~!

Reply

That banner looks so pretty – I can’t wait to see Brooke’s finished room. And speaking of Brooke… gush… what a cutie.

If you liked the Popchips, then I definitely recommend trying out some of the other flavors. I’m sort of in love with the sour cream and onion ones, and sweet potato is really good as well. They have a tortilla chip version, so if you can get your hands on the nacho cheese one then dooooooooo.

Reply

Popchips ROCK! My kids even got some sent to school for snack today–and I’m usually an apple or raw almonds packing sort of mom. My favorite flavor is barbecue. Yum!

Reply

I’m pretty obsessed with element bar minis right now. They are so perfectly tiny!

Funny story about the sleep talking… I am pretty bad and my most recent episode was last weekend when I was in a hotel room with some people I was doing a Tough Mudder with in the morning. One of the guys sneezed about 10 minutes after I fell asleep and I woke up FREAKING THE FRICK OUT and said “what are they doing in here?!?!” I thought there were two people in the hotel room standing by the door being creepers. Needless to say I freaked every one out. Victory.

Reply

Your banner turned out great! Excited to see the room, creating a home once you have a family is really fun :) I bet the nursery will be super cute!

Reply

I love Popchips, but love CheCha Puffs more! http://www.cheecha.ca/
I like banana and vanilla – kind of boring I know…
Love your DIY flags! I recently sewed pillowcases for our livingroom.
I used to sleep talk a bit but do not think I still do.

LOVE the triangle banner! Can’t wait to see the nursery! I am a sleep talker/sleep walker… IT get real awkward!

Reply

I love pop chips! Although I haven’t tried very many flavors. And I don’t think I do anything in my sleep… other than wake up every 2-3 hours… And you should do a video tour of Brooke’s nursery!

Reply

BBQ Popchips are even better than the plain ones! Costco sells a greek yogurt jalapeño dip which is heavenly when eaten with the bbq popchips. :)

Reply

Love that banner you made! It will look adorable in Brooke’s room. And I cannot believe you’ve never eaten Popchips before?! They make tortilla chip style ones too!

Reply

If you think Popchips brand are good chips, try the Trader Joe’s brand of Pop Chips (in a light blue bag)…SO delicious. They are my absolute favorite snack.

Reply

So I know I say this in pretty much every comment, but that’s because it’s always true…Brooke is simply adorable. Your banner is so cute, too! I wish I was better at crafting…it always looks so good in my mind but it’s so hard for me to transfer that image into real life!

My favorite milkshake flavor is probably pina colada, or anything tropical. Reese’s is pretty close second though–how can you NOT love peanut butter and chocolate?!

Reply

Brook is so cute as usual!

I sleep talk, which my husband finds hilarious as I have a habit of saying ‘help me, help me’.

Reply

Popchips are amazing, and they don’t have all those crazy chemicals and artifical stuff in them. I really like the BBQ and the Salty/Sweet versions.

Reply

I remember years ago I fell asleep and woke up around 7 PM and it was dark and I was convinced it was 7 AM and no one else was home and spent a good amount of time confused, thinking it was the following day.

Favorite milkshake= cookies ‘n cream

I came here today to tell you that I did the 8 minute abs video 2 days ago and I’m still sore. I usually do about 5 different ab exercises at the gym 2-3 days a week, but clearly this video works different areas than I usually do… hurts to move and laugh!! Oh my. Thanks for the recommendation!

Reply

I love to add Oreos in milkshakes. YUM! Last night between 6:30-7:45 I was having dinner with a bunch of HS girlfriends. So good for the soul to laugh that much. I’m a huge sleep talker… my hubby and I were just talking about this last night. Alledgedly – sometimes I speak in English – and sometimes its my own gobbily-gook language.

Wasabi or chipotle hummus, you won’t regret it!!

Currently obsessed with Trader Joes Organic Animal Crackers. And also currently OUT of them!!! And I am an over an hour away from the closest TJ’s!!! What is a girl to do!!

Favorite milk shake add in IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE Peanut-Butter. Hands down. No matter what.

Reply

I love that banner!! The fabric is so cute!
You need to try the quinoa and black bean chips from TJ’s so yummy!!
This summer we are planning on stripping down our kitchen table and chairs and doing something I found on pinterest with wallpaper as the top? Looked cool so I am hoping it works out! This winter I took large paper mache letters that spelled EAT and wrapped them in yarn. It looks pretty cool!
I use to snore until my tonsils were removed. I sometimes sleep talk and I have slept walk a few times. I am very weird I guess in my sleep!

Reply

Popchips are the best!! The sweet potato flavored ones and the BBQ ones are my FAVE! I also love pretzel crisps with hummus…they have awesome flavors for those too, including BUFFALO WING :) I eat those with a blue cheese greek yogurt dip…i’m more of a snacker then anything else so i’m obsessed with snacks, lol

Doing a lot of DIY projects for the wedding…which usually involve me finding the ideas and Kevin actually working on it while i supervise since i’m not terribly good at crafting ;)

Reply

Oh I’ve been in love with Pop Chips since Jillian did a promo for them! I prefer the original flavor best :)
Speaking of dips.. got a smoked Gouda dip at Costco the other day – def a winner, pair with Stacy’s Pita Chips!

FAV milkshake add-in? frozen bananas! +almond milk + protein powder + chocolate syrup and PB and some mornings a dash of instant coffee.

DIY – too many since we bought our home! I did iron hem my own curtains which took me forever! So worth it though, curtain panels can add up in cost. I’m wanting to DIY my own sunburst mirrors and bought the supplies – now I just need time :)

PS – Brooke is the cutest baby! gah!

I am getting married in June and I feel like I am constantly doing a diy project for it.

I will be happy when we are married and we don’t have anything else to plan for it.

The sweet potato POP chips are good. Anything sweet potato is good.
I made a map out of 3 canvases and mod podge. You put it on the wall and put flags or pins in it for all of the places you have been.
Anything peanut butter cup is a good add in.
I do all of the above. A real treat for my husband. He snores like a freight train.

The banner looks awesome!! Can’t wait to see everything all put together. :)

I am not a huge DIY-er but I am making a succulent and cactus terrarium this weekend that I saw on Pinterest. :) Oh and I think I snore… but it is drowned out by hubby’s snoring so no harm, no foul.

Reply

I LOVE popchips!!!! I consider a whole bag to be 1 serving. That’s ok, right???

Reply

I apparently breath really deeply and loudly, although I’m not sure I believe my husband. I think I sleep like an angel.

I really like kale chips, especially the cheesy ones. Healthy and delicious

Reply

that salad looks delish! I have done some knitting in my day but don’t have much time for crafts lately.

Reply

Y’all don’t have Publix out west (best grocery store in the south), but their brand of hummus is delicious, especially the roasted red pepper kind. I should try it with another brand though. So yummy. And I’m going to assume you’ve had puppy chow. Super easy to make and SO ADDICTING. Especially when it’s warm and fresh.

Oreo milkshakes are the best. But I could eat oreos for breakfast, lunch & dinner (and snacks in between).

My sister-in-law and I tried armour etching our glassware. Well, we tested it out on an old glass that didn’t matter, and I’m glad we did, haha. We think we’ve got the hang of it now… but let’s just say that glass got thrown out :P

I used to sleep walk and talk A LOT when I was younger, but now my husband says I talk occasionally.

Reply

Have you tried Pirates Booty? Love it!

Reply

BBQ Popchips are the bomb dot com. We are also Stacy’s Pita Chip lovers- during Christmas they have Gingerbread ones that my husband still talks (and dreams) about.

I am not a sleep walker or snorer BUT I have been known to have conversations (full ones) with people and not remember. I am also a kicker… I think it’s because I’m running in my sleep I love it so much.

Reply

Ok seriously she is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! I don’t really drink milkshakes.. if you remember me I don’t eat sweets much because I have fatty fear.. LOL! BUT..I love peanut butter if I could chose!

Reply

That banner is adorable!
I am the opposite of crafty, so I dont do too many DIYs haha

Reply

Brooke’s outfits are always so cute. I guess that is one thing why I wish I had a daughter, to dress her up in cute outfits. Before my son, I used to sew, crochet, knit, all that crafty stuff, but now not so much. I still have a DIY project that I havent finished it was for my nephew who was going to be born, a baby blanket, well he is 2 1/2 years old now, so I don’t think that will get finished anytime soon. Try the sweet potato popchips, they are super delicious and addicting!!

Reply

Yum! I just discovered pop chips too and they’re delicious! I think I had to stop buying them because I ate them too fast!
I’m so impressed with the banner! It’s great to have crafty friends :)
I definitely snore and occasionally talk in my sleep. My lucky, lucky future husband.

Reply

I am NOT a DIY person. I probably would have chopped off all of my fingers or stuck them so many times I’d run out of band-aids. Oof. I love the color scheme!

Reply

POP CORNERS are amazing too!!! My fave is the kettle flavor.

Reply

YUM! Pop Chips! I really love the Food Should Taste Good tortilla chips. Or the sweet potato chips. Or Terra Chips. I think I’m seeing a trend here…I just love chips!

My favorite milkshake of all time is a Braum’s peanut butter cup milkshake! I pretty much love everything from Braum’s, though. :)

Reply

I love chocolate and peanut butter milk shakes! Love the banner, great job! I made my own “painting” for our living room. I took a plain canvas spray painted the entire thing one color. after that dried, I held some cool looking leaves on it and sprayed it a different color. I also printed our wedding dancing picture on a canvas with our 1st dance song on it. That’s in our bedroom.

Reply

Mmmm popchips are delicious!!! You should try Pirates Booty, too!

I like oreos in my milkshakes.

My last DIY project was repurposing a dresser! It looks so great now and I only spent like $20 on it!

Reply

If I had taken that late of a nap, I never would have gone to bed that night. I LOOOVVVEEEE naps but almost never take them anymore because they mess up my sleep schedule.

I love a good coconut cream pie shake though I cannot remember the last time I had one. They used to sell them at Sonic!!

Reply

I’ll tell you a snack NOT to try. My son had the bright idea to try one of these new Lay’s chips that are a crazy flavor, that people are supposed to vote on. The chicken and waffle one. It’s pretty much disgusting.

Reply

I was eyeing the popchips in the store yesterday and almost bought some but knew we had some at home. I’ll have to buy them once we run out of chips! I know I occasionally snore but my husband sleep laughs and talks. Literally sometimes he rolls over and just lets out a few chuckles….while fully asleep. He must have very happy dreams! He also has had full conversations with me…on the phone…in college while he was sleeping. He has no recollection of them but we talked for 5-10 minutes each time and he was asleep! So weird how the body works…

Reply

I can’t wait to see this room!
– My best DIY project would have to be planning and constructing my raised vegetable garden.
– When I was 10, I cleaned my room in my sleep and, while still asleep, got annoyed with my Mum for making me go back to bed. I wish I still had that skill!

Definitely a sleep talker

Reply

Bean & Rice Chips Pico de Gallo flavor with guacamole – my daughter and I are obsessed! I even ordered a case from amazon because we couldn’t find them at our local grocery. You must try them.

Reply

I talk in my sleep occasionally (usually just mumbling) but never snored, and I cannot STAND sleeping around people who snore. I WILL throw pillows and/or elbows! ;) haha (true story). Thank goodness my husband doesn’t snore. That just wouldn’t have worked out haha! Hmmm delicious snacks…. I love putting sliced brie on little pieces of baguette. So yummy. And brie and apple slices are good, too! I’m on a brie kick right now, if you couldn’t tell…

I just had the best smoothie, it came from the smoothie bar in my gym. It was Matcha Green Tea with whey protein. OMG, so good! I can’t believe it took me more than a year to try it.

I need to tell someone about my purchase this morning and I think you might agree with me on this one. I just bought an amazing new foam roller – the Progression Roller by Rejuvenation. It’s intense….it has ridges all the way around. I definitely get the ‘chipmunk face’ because it hurts SO good.

Reply

Pop Chips are so good! I also love Pirates Booty which are like Cheese Puffs. The latest DIY was my son’s nursery. I repainted old things and did what I could to save money. I loved doing it but he’s 5 months now and I have yet to do anymore DIYs.

My husband talks in his sleep and lately he wakes up in a panic wondering where the baby is. I have to push him back down and tell him that the baby is fine. He doesn’t remember this at all in the morning! haha

Reply

LOVE the banner- ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, please, please send a milkshake to me right now..?? :)

Reply

Love Pop Chips! I buy huge bags in Costco! I never tried dipping them in guacamole though. OMG, I have those moments too when I take a nap mid afternoon and wake up at night time, I would get confused of the time.

Reply

Have you tried brownie brittle by Sheila G?! I just found out about them and soooooo good!!! I just saw some popchips today and thought to grab them… now i wish I had!
The last DIY project i did was make some high waisted shorts! They came out cute! I want to make more just too lazy! Not a milk shake drinker. I’m not a milk drinker so never cared to try them. The banner is too cute and I can’t wait to see the finish product!! I don’t snore or sleepwalk anymore. As a child my sleepwalking was terrible! Like my parents use to put chairs by the front door to block it and all!!!

Brooke is the cutest! I can’t get enough. Love the Yoga and Plank poses she does :)

Reply

You have to try the Popchips nacho cheese tortilla flavor! They are like super healthy Doritos! AMAZING!

Reply

I always like to add spinach, chia seeds, wheat germ, and ground flax seeds to every shake for an extra boost of nutrition! Sounds gross, but you can’t taste it!

Reply

Ohhh my gosh, that picture of Brooke is too cute!!!! Her little pigtails kill me!

My favorite milkshake add in is a tie. If I’m making a homemade milkshake, then it’s peanut butter all the way. But if I’m ordering it from somewhere, I will almost always go with marshmallow. I think that I will have to try a peanut butter and marshmallow mixed milkshake really soon, that sounds too good for words!

Reply

Edamame chips are so yummy! They are my new favorite from TJ’s :) That banner is so simple & cute! I am so excited to see pictures.

Reply

Re: delicious snack foods to try… You should probably try every flavor of those Pop Chips. And I recently became addicted to Blue Diamond’s coconut flavored roasted almonds… sooo good.

Brooke’s banner is adorable! I’m sure you made a second one for me to hang in my room, so just let me know when I should be expecting it in the mail. ;)

The BBQ Pop chips are my fav

BBQ popchips are my fave…also love the cheddar and sour cream flavor too!

I’m assuming you know about both Brookside fruity chocolate and Pretzel Crisps? If not, you should probably acquaint yourself on the double ;)

Mark sleep talks all the time, and it’s the funniest thing ever. He once we through a whole dream conversation with me calling me Mrs. Clinton. Why? No idea. But SO. FUNNY.
