It’s that day where I fill up a page on the internet of completely random things.

It happened, the moment you have all been waiting for (because I am sure all day you have been thinking.. ‘oh good, Janae was able to run today after going a few weeks without it. I am so thrilled for her’  (I know my running soap opera is high on your list of things to think about).  It went great.  A full 4.123524 (every .0001 counts) miles of me, the treadmill and the awesome breeze that our deck gets.

PS our deck is covered and so rain won’t ruin her and I won’t be getting sunburned every time I go out and run.  Plus we keep it covered with a tarp.

I missed my gorgeous cousin’s wedding last week.  We aren’t going to talk about it unless you want to buy me a new computer because if you bring up the fact that I missed my best friends wedding then 2 cups worth of tears will fall onto the keyboard and break it.

Billy’s mom sent me a picture of him from a few hours after he was born.  What do you think?  Any Brooke resemblance?

Have you ever seen cuter baby shoes?

Photo 2

The only thing cuter are actual baby feet.

I tried to do a really nice thing for Billy and bought him a pound plus bar from TJ’s.

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.  Billy, I will buy you a new one but just know that this one tasted amazing.

Billy’s grandparents are here to pick me up for a day of awesomeness including stalking Billy at school.  See you soon!

Yay for the first run back!! Glad to have the “R” back in HRG!! (Though you were just as fab without the R … it just flows better with it in)
Billy’s missing the signature Brooke spiky hair! And love that he didn’t get the chocolate bar (sorry Billy!).
I had the courage to buy my first “sugary” cereal in a LONG time today. Kicking orthorexia in the butt! :)

My big accomplishment today was that I finally got the last thing with my old last name changed to my new married one. Exactly one month after we tied the knot. I think that’s pretty good :-) Good to see you running again Janae! PS-Cutest. Shoes. EVER.

Congrats on your first run back!! You’ll be up to your old mileage in no time!

Tangent? Today I ran 20 miles…my first 20miler of this training cycle (planning to get another 1-2 in before my marathon in 6 weeks). It was tough, but great!

I’m recovering now with wine and Big Bang Theory. Speaking of tangents, do you watch Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother? It seems that we have the same taste in tv (I love old sitcoms, Friends, and Make it or Break it)…so you might like them.

Reply

WOW!! Way to go Ashley… 20 miles wahooooo!!! You are going to rock your marathon. Big Bang Theory is one of my FAVORITE shows. I need to watch How I met your Mother… thanks!

Reply

I’m SO happy you finally got to run! I know it must have felt amazing! I was totally obsessing over it btw even if you don’t believe me!

Reply

Awesome first run!!!

Reply

Ahhhhhhh I am so happy for you!!! That is so awesome!!

Today: I tried biking…it was SO GOOD to get out and move, but I cannot wait to run again. I have been out of running since July 2 (yes I know the exact day) and fingers are crossed that I am only weeks away from hitting the roads!!! I also made peanut butter. And my grandparents randomly stopped by!

Random question, but how did you decide to start with 4 miles? Is coming back from pregnancy or a rest period different than coming back after an injury?

Reply

Congratulations on your run!!! Was it difficult for you to get back in the saddle today? I don’t have many tangents today – but my friend and I decided today to train for my first half marathon together today. Super nervous, but we both read your blog for inspiration. She will have her baby next month, so she’s excited to get back into running again. Baby feet IS the best thing ever. I’m glad i’m not the only one obsessed – Harper is almost two, and i’m still obsessed. Little girls are the best thing ever!

Reply

Ahhhhhhhhh I am beyond excited for your first half marathon! You are going to do amazing! Keep me updated with how it is going!

Reply

What a wonderful thing to be able to run out on a beautiful breezy deck! My tangent would be how angry I am that your blog inspires me to run every day BUT (the angry part) I have a KNEE INJURY and I can’t do anything but the boooooring elliptical without it hurting. :(

Reply

I am so so sorry about your knee! What is wrong with it?!? How long has it been hurting?

Reply

Thank you…I just took it to the doctor and she ordered x-rays for me and told me I can’t run for at least one month. I haven’t gotten the x-rays yet because I am scared lol… I’m a new runner and it’s been hurting since 5 or 6 months after I started running (so now it’s been getting increasingly worse for about 6 months since it started hurting). I’m thinking (hoping) I just have been using the wrong shoes and I plan on getting new ones when I start again!

Reply

Oh girl, I am so sorry! PLEASE keep me updated with how it goes and I sure hope it was the shoes too!

Reply

Just came back from a 7-mile run around Lake Merced (next to SFSU)! There’s my little tangent for this wonderful Tuesday.
So glad that you got to run more than 4 miles, Janae! Must have felt amazing!
And, yes. Newborn-Billy is definitely a Brooke look-alike!

Reply

Okay, thank you for reassuring me about the treadmill. :) I’m glad she will be OK out there.

CONGRATS on your first run post-baby!!! YAY!!!!

Reply

I am so impressed with your 4 miler so soon after having Brooke- so incredible! I had a baby 9 months ago and it took me MUCH longer to get back into working-out. I’ve been running now for a few months but am still really struggling to build up the endurance to go more than 4ish miles, it gets super challenging for me after that. Any tips? I know it’s mostly mental, but it’s hard to breakthrough and I want to so, so badly!

Reply

Okay, Janae, not fair. My baby fever is at an all-time high after reading this post!!

Reply

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE that picture of your cousin’s wedding? It looks like the kind of picture that will be famous one day. All of them are just gorgeous (as are you ofcourse!:) )

p.s. I am so sorry you had to miss the wedding and also…..Congrats on your awesome run!!

Reply

First run back and whipping out 4 + ! Good for yoU!

and those baby shoes are fabulous!

Reply

Congratulations!! 4 mi just one month after baby is totally impressive! Also I love baby feet, it always reminds me of Anne of Green Gables when she calls them “delicious” and I can never think of a better word!

Reply

Wow your back in full force!!! Great going on the run!!!!

Those shoes are really cute!!! She kinda looks like Billy lol KINDA. Found a deheaded mouse on my porch this morning hahaha and my cat isn’t an outdoor cat……Congrats on your run :) So happy for you!!! Can’t wait to see how tomorrows goes for you!!

Yet your tangents still make awesome reading! World’s cutest shoes – and toes :-D

My today tangent is that a friend made me chcolate and pb granola, and I am steadily making my way through the entire jar – working from home is dangerous.

Reply

Congrats on your first post partum run!

Baby feet are adorable. I just love kissing on Clara’s feet all day long. Those red shoes are PRECIOUS!

Yay for a successful first run back!

Reply

woohoo! Way to go on your first post baby run!! I wish I had your treadmill setup that is amazing… I’d have been able to run more than 2miles this morning grrr. I think if I got a treadmill for our tiny apartment, my neighbor below us would literally kill me… she complains about every noise… starting with my “stompyness” when I was pregnant to my adorable 20 pound dog barking to my beautiful 6mo and 3 week old scooting around the apartment… talk about poop of a neighbor.

Reply

Woo hoo for your first run! I was wondering how much you’d do too…my guess was between 4-6. Wicked cute baby shoes too! Everything for babies is cute. That’s just a fact.

Reply

YAYAYA good job girlie on your run!

Reply

YAY for your run! I love that you ate your present for Billy. :) I told Daniel the other night that I bought him some ice cream, and he said “oh – thank you!” and was walking toward the kitchen to get it….and then I added, “but then I ate it. oops.” For some reason I couldn’t quit laughing but he didn’t find it quite as humorous.

Reply

those shoes!!!
