A Really Good Day

I don’t even know how to explain to you how much I love to travel, so I won’t try but just know that I really love it.

After I got to the hotel I went on a walk around the area to locate some good shopping, the gym, somewhere to go for breakfast in the morning and to people watch.

Photo 16

Once I got tired I came back to the hotel, got under the covers with a bag of pretzels and watched multiple episodes of Say Yes To The Dress.  I could get used to having cable with the perfect view of the tv from my bed.

Here’s where it gets really good…..I got to go out with the Lowfat Chocolate Milk Refuel Team for an incredible dinner.  It was just a little fancier than my normal baked potato and chicken nugget dinners lately;)

We started off with some amazing appetizers: Fresh tortillas with Indian butter (not pictured), soft-shelled crab and chile rellenos.

I ordered the steak and it was perfect.  I also tried a purple potato for the first time, too bad Costco doesn’t sell them in bulk because they were good.

IMG 1728

After dinner we did what any normal group of girls would do:  go to one froyo store and determine the toppings weren’t good enough and to solve the problem walk 20 minutes to another froyo establishment only to find it closed and angrily try to break in to steal from them.  It is amazing how good I am at writing run on sentences.

Don’t stress, we still got our fix and stopped at the grocery store for mini containers of ice cream.  Not gonna lie, I should have bought the quart size for myself.  I tried to convince Billy at midnight to go back out with me to get more but he didn’t think that was the best idea.  Lesson learned, never settle for less than 2 cups of ice cream at a time.

As I am typing this there is a tray of snacks and candy staring at me.  The only problem is that they are $7 for a small bag of chips. and $8 for jelly beans, I am bound to cave.

Billy will be getting 14 miles in on the treadmill this morning and I will go with him to run a few miles myself, lift some weights and do cool tricks in front of his treadmill to entertain him when he starts getting bored.  After some lunch we will be doing things for the Endurance Live event and meeting some incredible athletes.  My cutest friend Anna already ran into Meb Keflezighi!

Remember:  if there are any questions you have for me to ask the athletes tweet the questions to me using #eLIVE.

Do you have a tv in your bedroom?

-No but we always watch stuff on our laptop from bed.

What are you going to have for breakfast this morning?

-I am gonna get a waffle or pancakes or probably both.

Looks like an awesome dinner! Have fun today!!!

I would want to meet Kara Goucher–love her!

The same b-fast I have every day–oatmeal, pumpkin with an egg whisked in and a p.b. spoon (of course).

My favorite big city to visit… I live in Chicago, and I know a lot of people would say New York. So I am going to go out on a limb and say Honolulu! Is that cheating?!? International cities, don’t even get me started…

The athlete that I would love to meet would be Antti Niemi. I am a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan, and he was the goaltender and by far my favorite player when they won the Stanley Cup in 2010. Kind of random, I know, but I am a total hockey nut.

Breakfast this morning is Special K cereal and a banana. Keeping it simple!

Just had toast with almond butter/banana/cinnamon- getting ready for a 90 minute long run!

Have a great trip! I would love to visit Washington D.C. again but run the cherry blossom half. I’ve heard it’s gorgeous! I just had multi-grain cheerios to get me through my Praxis teaching test….bleh, but as soon as I get home I am going on my 16 mile run yay! It definitely gives me something to look forward to. Have fun with all the cool athletes. You should definitely ask them some type of candy question:)

Chicago by far is the best city in the US with Denver a close second.

I’ve been craving waffles eat those!!!

We do have a TV in the bedroom, but it doesn’t have cable or satellite. We just watch FRIENDS dvds and sometimes King of Queens dvds.

I haven’t been to too many BIG cities, but I loved NYC and Chicago!

Even though I’ve met him before, I think I would go with Peyton Manning. Swoon.

I had a little granola and some cinnamon roll coffee, but I cooked Daniel scrambled eggs with cheese and a biscuit with homemade strawberry jam. I’ll probably fix something for myself soon.

Haha we do the laptop in bed too :) I love to visit NYC, but I’d never want to live there. Outside the US I love Brussels and Rome.

I would love to meet Tom Brady or Wes Welker of the New England Patriots. In the running world Joan Benoit or Desiree Davila. I had an english muffin with egg, ham and cheese.

I don’t. When I did in college I would spend wayyyy too much time being lazy in bed watching it.

New York. At this point I’ve left about half of my heart is in that city and I can’t wait to go back to find it!

I had half a protein bar and some PB crackers…my eatting is always a little off on the weekends.

My favorite city: San Francisco hands down. I also love anywhere with mountains. I do have a TV in my “bedroom”, but that’s because I live in a studio apartment, so technically, there’s also a fridge in my “bedroom”, which can be dangerous at times. haha.

We don’t have a TV in our room…Andy didn’t want one in there, so naturally I watch netflix on my phone when i can’t sleep.

I loved visiting San Diego and would love to explore Chicago! I’ve been to their airport but that’s it!

I had cheerios and an apple this morning. Keeping it light since I’m getting over a sickness!

No tv in my room — i try my hardest to keep my bed for sleeping and reading, that’s it!

My two fav big cities ever are probably Paris and Buenos Aires. I loved both equally but both for different reasons!

I have traveled a ton and whenever I am in a new city I just get so much energy and try to live like they do! I spent almost two years in Istanbul, Turkey and miss it so much! The first thing I do is find the best local coffee place! I dont have a TV in my room but I use the ipad or labtop for sure!

Wow, what an awesome weekend/night, everything all together looks like so much fun! We just have one TV in our house, it’s big, but none in the bedrooms. We don’t have cable either. I am way to cheap. I haven’t had breakfast yet, did the long run and it’s already 11am, have to decide what to eat asap! I just had a peanut butter wrap, totally random, but so easy and quick.
Have an AWESOME day meeting all the athletes. Looking forward to hearing about it!

Looks like a fun night in LA!!! Those mini cups of ice cream are such a tease!

We do not have a TV in our bedroom, but between the french doors to our room and the mirrored closet, we can get a pretty good view of the TV in the living room from our bed. We never actually watch it that way, but you could if you wanted!

I just finished breakfast – pumpkin protein pancakes with diced apples! Oh yum. Its a Saturday staple at my house!

About to hit up the Farmer’s Market…hope there is delicious brekkie options up in there.

Hahah I’m curious to know what the toppings were in the first joint? I had Greek yogurt with straeberries, almonds and honey- perfect pre run fuel!

I’ve always wanted to try a purple potato!

I don’t have a TV in my room…but I’m just like you, I bring the laptop to bed all the time.

No TV in my bedroom. I would be way too distracted to sleep! And while I’ve never visited NYC, I think that would be my favorite city to visit. Huge Broadway fan here–I would be practically hyperventilating with excitement.

Hope you get to hit up the “good” fro-yo place soon!!

Not sure if it counts as a big city, but I like visiting Washington DC. Lots to do and I always end up there for work! I also love Chicago. I am from Michigan and Chicago was only a 2 hour drive from home (now I’m in Ohio and it’s more like 6, boo).

We have a tv in the bedroom unfortunately. A husband-mandated luxury.

My dream would be to have you dancing around and being a general ray of sunshine while I was running on the treadmill – I’d be able to do an entire marathon on there on that basis. Billy is very lucky :D

I would meet Paula Radcliffe, and then possibly cling to her and try to steal her talent by osmosis.

my favorite city to visit is my hometown of Chicago! such a fun city with lots to do, see and eat :)
nothing is better than lounging around in a big hotel bed, enjoy!

Reply

my favorite big city is LONDON! I would move there so fast were it not for all of those pesky immigration laws – apparently the English know how cool it is over there and make it very difficult for new people to move on in!

Enjoy your vacay!

I LOOOOOVE sleeping in hotel beds with giant down comforters!!!!!

I live in Denver so life is already awesome but my mom is from San Francisco so that is like a second home. Love it SO much.

Breakfast was boring so I’m making cookies.

I love to travel so much I know just how you feel. I love the airports, the airplanes, the cities, the hotel rooms. Every part of the experience.

How fun, you’re like literally a mile from where I live. Hope you’re enjoying this ridiculous awesome weather today!! If you have time tomorrow morning, go on a hike at RUNYON CANYON! It’s in the Hollywood hills about a 15-minute drive from Downtown. You will love it! From the top you can see all of LA… I take everyone there who is visiting from out of town and they wonder why I force them climb up a mountain… then they thank me ;)

Reply

My favorite big city to visit is San Fransisco. Beautiful! But I am also in love with Nashville where I currently live…obsessed with this place. It has everything you can think of..music, mountains, hiking, eating…lots of fro yo and cupcake shops!

Breakfast was at a old in the wall place in Franklin TN where we sat at a table next to Alan Jackson.

Glad you are having a blast :) Meb is kicking off the SD Half tomorrow. Hitch a ride with Sarah and come hang with us gals. It’s going to be a blast :)

I ran my first (and only so far, til Boston in April!) marathon in San Francisco and so that city pretty much has my heart. I was running on the treadmill this morning, watching Fairly Legal, and it’s filmed in San Fran…made me run a little faster, I think!

I would LOVE to meet Ryan Hall. He is a major hero of running and of my faith.

Reply

We don’t have a tv in our room but we used too.
I actually don’t like big cities. Crowds of people make me nervous! :)
Looks like you had a great time! I totally would have bought that $8 bag of jelly beans.

Reply

That’s so awesome that you are there! I need to get in the know on things like this, haha! If you get a chance ask Chrissie Wellington how we can get a copy of her book for the the release date in the US (it’s already been released in the UK). Other questions for Chrissie – longest swim, ride and run before Ironman? Longest brick before Ironman? Best advice for Ironman?

Have an awesome time, and live it up in LA!

I’ve never been here, but I would love to visit New York. I could see it easily becoming my favorite city to visit. It’s on my bucket list!

Ah fro yo disappointment is hard to be over! I had some amazing eggs, sausage and bacon cooked by my friend’s boyfriend who’s a chef! We’re all staying at a lake house for another friend’s wedding tonight!

Oh my goodness. That episode of SYTTD. I can see which one it is. I absolutely BAWLED. That girl was so sweet and so BRAVE for going through what she had and still being such a poised and happy person. I still tear up when I think about it! I seriously cried through the entire episode when I watched it–because of what that girl had gone through and seeing her pictures from when she was at UGA not injured, and also because my cousin who is the closest thing I have to a sister just got engaged and I was so so happy for her!

I love hotels.
