33 minutes of running baby. No leg pain when I land mid-food and barely brush my heel on the ground but anytime I land heel first….oucharama. Overall, this is a good thing because it is going to FORCE me to have better form and therefore I will be speedier than before:)
Even though my leg felt great mis muscles and mis lungs HURT (like I said before, I LOVE that feeling) but I am remembering that it is TOUGH to start running. Yes, I did hours of other forms of cardio but running is a whole other ball game.
My students were confused about why I have turned from a drill sargeant to Mother Teresa while they were running the mile and it is because now I know what it feels like to be grasping for every last oxygen molecule in the atmosphere but I am LOVING the challenge. Bring it on.
Recycled post-run photo: my face was 8 times more red than this one today and I was embarrassed (which is saying a lot because I post EVERYTHING on the blog) and plus I was already 4 minutes late to work because a certain somebody decided to hit the snooze button 6 times……I guess going to bed at 8:30 pm is still not early enough for this g-ma.
*****Side Note for those of you that are injured. LISTEN to the doctor/pt that you are working with and TAKE A BREAK!!! Believe me, my treadmill and the sunny weather called my name many times to join them for my choice of drugs (endorphins) but sometimes you just gotta say NO.
You know it is a good day when a student brings you your favorite salad in the whole wide world from cafe rio.
During lunch I locked my door, turned on some ‘Adele,’ ate my salad and for a second I really thought I was in heaven (except for the fact that I am out of Swedish Fish). Mom, you can take that as a hint if you want.
We got some AWESOME race photos to admire:) Sit back, enjoy and let the good times roll.
Heidi @runaroundaroosent in a picture of what she wore at the Minneapolis Monster Dash Half Marathon on Halloween weekend this past year. She said it was SUPER comfy and got tons of compliments. The best part is that she didn’t have to buy anything to put this outfit together!! LOVE IT GORGEOUS GIRL, you are looking mighty fine!
The GORGEOUS MADDIE sent in a picture of her and her husband running the Boston “Common Man’s Marathon” which is 2.62 miles around Boston commons. “It was fun, although we had to run up the same hill THREE times. Killer (his face in the picture of us at the finish line tells all). But we were happy to be finished.”
The BEAUTIFUL Carla @irunyourun sent in a picture of her finishing her FIRST marathon last year (she did her second marathon 3 weeks later!!) She is the one in the pink with her arms up. I LOVE IT!!!
I have parent teacher conference after school until 6 and then I teach spin at 6:30…….we will see how this works out. Nothing wrong with wearing a skirt to teach a cycling class right?
Check out the AMAZING JULIA’S GIVEAWAY!!! You will fall in LOVE with her and her blog!!!
Do you push the snooze button on your alarm clock? If yes, how many times on average?
-Yep, poor Billster. On average only twice but this morning was another story.
What was the hardest part for you when you first started running?
-Breathing. I felt like my heart was beating 220 beats per minute and like I needed an oxygen mask.
Did you have to run the mile for PE in jr. high or high school? Did you love it or hate it?
-My students HATED it at the beginning but now that they are seeing improvements in their times and how they feel they are loving it.
Do you eat lunch with your co-workers?
-Usually yes but today I wanted to just sit and savor each bite without any interruptions, wow I am cool.
