Top 10 reasons to get overly excited that summer is getting near.  Heck, Lindsay and Dorry enjoyed 90 degree weather yesterday in TEXAS!!!!

10.  Seeing Billy in a bathing suit (fyi I couldn’t think of the last one and this is what Billy said, but I have to agree;)

9.  Um, hello RACE SEASON!!!

8. Rainbow sandals are worn all day, every day…….makes getting dressed in the morning a lot easier.

7.  We will be in S. CALI for two months (who is down for blogger meet-ups?!?!)

6.  Me and Billy’s FREE vacation to the Dominican Republic.

5.  My legs will no longer look like I am wearing white tights at all times.

4.  Our summer dates are the best: Scooter rides to get slurpee’s, picnics, long boarding down the canyon, mountain biking and tennis.

3. I am a teacher.  No work for three months.  Yep, I will take that. My days will consist of run, blog, stalk your blogs (4 hours at least), run again, go lay-out with Megan, Hang out with Billy, repeat.

AND THE TOP 2 ARE…….Get excited for this, it is kind of a big deal.

2.  BBQ’s.  There is nothing better than getting together with all of your family/friends and grilling your favorite foods while running around in the grass and finishing off the night with at least 3 popsicles.  To prepare for our grilling days ahead, I grilled salmon, zucchini and red pepper on my George Foreman and put them on top of my normal 3.5 lbs. of spinach and broccoli with tomatoes, cheese and eggs (I know……eggs with salmon, don’t judge a book by its cover.  Would I ever mislead you in something when it comes to food, I think not).

And the most important reason to be crazy happy that summer is getting closer………..

1.  I will enjoy unlimited amounts of ice cream without shivering.  Even when it is cold I still eat more than enough ice cream which makes me even colder than before (definitely worth it) but as soon as those temps rise, I will love ice cream that much more and probably increase my intake threefold.

6. Starstruck by Lady Gaga

7. Roll by Flo-Rida

8. Sweetest Girl by Akon

9. Bleed America by Jimmy Eat World

10. I Can Transform Ya by Black Eyed Peas

11. ET by Katy Pery

12. I just Can’t Get Enough by Black Eyed Peas

13. Some random techno song that I found forever ago and is the best adrenaline pumping song….I can’t find the name of it, sorry!

Anyone want to do a skype spin class……bring your laptop to your gym and we can spin with each other even though we are miles apart!!!

Oh my word. I CANNOT wait for summer! We have snow here right now and I am disgusted! I love summer because it means endless amount of playtime out side! Biking, hiking, walking at night. Love it all! Oh, and getting my tan on is #1.

Veggies and Fish. mmmm…

Hike in a remote woods, picnic by a stream, followed by the afternoon laying by a pool… and dinner out somewhere on the patio of a ritzy restaurant. Yes, that would be like a 40 hour day, but a girl can dream, right!??!

yes, grilling!! Love salmon on the grill. 90F here yesterday means its going to be 120F come summer. EEK! save me some ice cream!

Your list made me so excited for summer! Sadly down here in the South, summer means the end of racing season because it's wayyyyy too hot to be running any distance more than a 5K before sunset. I'll be spending lots of time in the gym this summer and going on my outside runs around 7 p.m.! :)

Reply

You just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside which is awesome because it's snowing here!!!!!!!! I love your top ten!

My favorite thing about summer is going to the beach!

I LOVE grilling. We unfortunately can only use a George Forman because we don't have a deck at our new place. BOO. That's the only downfall.

My ideal summer date is going to watch the sunset at the beach!!

Reply

The thing I'm looking forward to the most in spring/summer is warm weather!!! :) Also, eating ice cream and not freezing to death! I love ice cream year round, but it'll be nice to eat it without wearing sweats and being covered in a blanket haha.

My favorite thing to grill are potatoes and onions! I haven't even made it, but my Dad does and seasons them so well! :)

My ideal summer date involves walking on the beach at night after going for froyo!

Reply

FLIP FLOPS!!! Anything tastes better on the grill but my fav veggie is asparagus and fruit would be pinapple. Yumm! Ideal summer date would be spent outdoors whether walking on the beach, sitting on the dock of the bay or camping out in the mountains. I <3 summer.

Reply

Um…is anything NOT good when it is grilled? Seriously! I got a griddler a couple months ago. Best.Purchase.Ever.

Reply

My ideal summer date…April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.

haha But really, I LOVE summer because of fire flies and warm nights hanging out with friends!

Oh, I just love you more everyday! I love your list and agree with many of them. It's so warm here already and I really need a pedicure, but I'm waiting until after the race on Sunday. :) I love to grill veggies and salmon, too. Well, Billy is the one who grills and he does a great job. Hope you are having a great day, J! xo

Reply

Can't wait to wear flip flop everyday! And run without 10 pounds of clothes on, although I will complain about the summer heat too. Hamburgers are my favorite item to grill – I just love a big juicy burger!! Ideal summer date – one where we don't take the kids lol.

ice cream is the #1b reason… #1a is that I'm getting married this summer!!! ;) lol

I thought summer was well on its way as we've been having high 50's – high 60's degree weather and then I get up today and they're calling for snow and the heat is on lol… bleh!

You're getting me so pumped for summer, and that salad sounds so refreshing.
You should definitely skype teach my spin class later today – your playlist sounds awesome!
The perfect summer date would be (I hope my boyfriend's reading hehe): hiking, maple soft serve ice cream, then spending the rest of the day in the water or lounging by a lake.

Glad you get the summer off lady, enjoy every minute of it!

I'm looking forward to summer for hiking, biking, and camping.

But, as a side note- noooooooo on the laying out/tanning girlie! I've seen someone die a slow and painful death from melanoma, and I have had moles carved out of my body that were bad news.

It's just not worth risking your health for a little color. Seriously, you want to be around a long time for Billy (and you want to look hot for him too, and tanning causing premature aging and wrinkles!)

Have fun in California but please pack some sunscreen :)

Reply

I love this post for reminding me that summer is just around the corner! I can't wait! Although our summers are usually cold and rainy, that won't stop me from bbqing, wearing flops, surfing in rashie and shorts, vitamin D…!! Best summer date? early morning surf, picnic, tennis, and a bbq with friends. Bliss!

Shh I am reading you here at work while listening to person talk about boring stuff here at work. BUT you just made me really LOL here. OOPS! Here is your quote " My legs will no longer look like I am wearing white tights at all times." and I must say we both have white tight legs. My hubby last night said to me (while packing my race bag for this weekends National Half Marathon here in DC) HONEY OMG are you really going to wear that skirt?!? I said why yes! He then went on to say I think your legs are as white as the knee socks you are wearing and to those people cheering on the side they are going to think your socks are your legs. UGh…… I rolled my eyes and thought in my head MEN! HAHA
I love grilled potatoes cut to look like fries with a little EVOO and sea salt on top as well as scalops YUMMY!

I just love the heat. I am Georgia girl, and I like it as hot as I can get it. The kind of heat that just hurts!! Bring it!

YAY grilling. We live near where the fishing boats live in Seattle, so we have the FRESHEST seafood & salmon in the summer. I grill sockeye w/ a bit of butter & Johnny's seasoning, then squeeze 1/2 a lemon over it. NOM NOM NOM.

Hey, if you ever make it near the Sacramento area, let me know and we can meet up.

your post makes me want summer RIGHT NOW but it's supposed to snow in DC on Sunday. UGH.

Can I move to Utah and hang with you? Please.

I am so very excited for bare legs, sundresses, flip flops and not layering up for every outside activity. Eating on patios, my deck, reading in the sun.

I lovveee grilled pineapple. And veggies.

my favorite summer date growing up was going to the drive in movies and watching the flicks on a blanket in the grass. now i think it has to be a long run followed by a brunch outside! (that's a date, right?)

I hope this isn't creepy! Last night I was eating froyo out of a container the size of my head while reading your blog. Then while sleeping I had a dream that you and I hung out and ate a lot of froyo.

Needless to say, your blog is my fave! Especially while eating froyo!

I'm kinda loving song #11.

My initials. Got to freaking love that!

I love to grill a nice hunk of meat for cheese burgers…mmmm!! This summer the only thing I am really looking forward to is camping, running and eating :)

Reply

You always give me so much motivation to eat healthy, but I read this way too late and already had a hamburger today hahaha.

Reply

I'm not sure the reason I'm looking forward to summer would fit in the comment area. I woke up to 11 degrees this morning…blerg…

Reply

Your post has me even MORE excited for summer than I already was (especially since I woke up to some random snow!) My ideal summer date has to consist of either fro-yo or ice-cream. It's a make or break it kind of thing for me :)

Reply

Absolutely can not wait for summer. Spent part of spring break in GA for the Atlanta 1/2 Marathon = perfect weather. Fingers, toes, hair, legs, and arms crossed that I'll be moving south in December for my final clinical! I was spoiled being down there for 4 years in undergrad!

Summer dates = outside! Love me some good country concerts and beach dates!

Reply

I'm in San Diego!!! Where in SoCal are you going to be?

I HATE summer temperatures (I am a heat baby) but I do love warm summer nights with BBQs with friends. I have never BBQed a pizza though and I MUST try that!

100 degrees is around the corner, blech.

going to be super hot for my race this weekend. I am NOT happy about that either. Warm weather and distance don't mix for me

Reply

I would love to skype spin with you…I don't have a gym nor a bike, but that would be so much fun! And it would be my first spin class I've ever taken.

What part of Cali will you be in?

Grilled veggies are the best thing ever. I love how they get and the grilled charred flavor is just so darn good!

SOCALBLOGGERMEETUPSUMMER2011!!!!!!!!!

Keep me posted. It's summer here all the time, baby.

Except, um, right now, with the rain and the Ark building and such.

Love this cause it refers to summer and as a college student, I. CANNOT. WAIT.

I went to the Dominican my freshman year for a service trip and loved it. So beautiful. =)

FREE Dominican vacation?! Do explain! Sounds like it will be a blast!

Favorite thing to grill is onion and brussels! Just make sure to steam them a bit before and cut them in half.

i'm loving your playlist. Lately I've been listening to the same rockin tunes, they always help pump me up for long workouts…which reminds me I still have to workout today…running & strength training here i come!

p.s. I love your blog. It's rare that I find others my age who love running and fitness too. Cheers! :)

Reply

I love bbq! I never eat sausages at them though, waste of stomach space, which is so valuable.
I eat salads, with steak. In NZ we put mussels on there too yummy.

Reply

I'm in Socal too and would love to meet up!

Reply

Flip flops! Also, seeing daylight when I run since the days are so much longer now. I'm super jealous of your 3 months off and vacations. Graduate students don't get summers.

Reply

I will skype with you on spin bikes! you can motivate me while i swear! LOL

Reply

Considering that our summers here in Phoenix get 100 degree plus. I am NOT looking forward to summer. On the contrary I am enjoying the perfect 70-80 degree days right now. My summer months are more like your winter months. Mostly inside ( unless I'm vegging in the pool)

Trust me on this one: Cut a red onion in 1/4ths (not all the way through) cut a piece of bacon in half place on top, sprinkle with salt and pepper, wrap in foil and grill about 1 hour till VERY soft. pure sweet melt in your mouth heaven. Try it and let me know what you think.

Reply

okay so this salad, and all your other spinach and broccoli salads, totally inspired me tonight. i realized i had nothing for lunch tomorrow and would probably be taking ramen and then looked at your blog like i do every day of my life and saw this salad and remembered i had spinach AND broccoli. oh my. so i just made my lunch for tomorrow and i'm so excited to eat it. serious. spinach, broccoli, peas, corn, ham, pineapple, and cheese. plus salsa and this amazesauce dressing. talk about party in your mouth. seriously can't wait. crazy that i comment on your blog like 9 times a day and try to copy you? probably.

Reply

okay. half of my point was to tell you about the amazing dressing. only because i know you love cafe rio. like how i said that like i totally know you? i'm ridiculous. and it's not exact cafe rio dressing. obviously that can't be copied. but it's close. and healthier! way healthier. anyway. don't know if you even care about this right now?? i'm posting the link anyway…

ggirrrl, this post made me SO excited for summer! I'm from Socal, but I'm not really a blogger, and definitely not a runner :( Can I still be your friend? I used to swim in High school haha

3. Snuggling on the couch under blankets
4. Hot water bottles!
