(Long sleeve, leggings, ear warmer, shoes, socks)

10 miles @ 8:06 average with the girls.  I definitely copied Maddie with these shoes and I love them.  They aren’t as cushiony as the Cliftons, they are lighter and a big springier but they still have that “I’m getting older and needing Hokas to keep my lower legs/feet happy” feeling that I love.

When I am not in training for a race it is so hard for me to remember to do the extras.

I’m recommitting to stretching and foam rolling because I can’t run healthy without both.

Made another batch of this heaven.

Mel’s Creamy Gnocchi soup is amazing.  Every recipe that I have ever tried from her blog is amazing.

Annual Christmas sugar cookies with the kids happened on Sunday but here is the picture:)  The thicker the sugar cookie, the happier I am.

Cookie recipe and icing recipe.

Along with some snuggling by the tree.

I finished up the night at a Favorite Things party.

I brought goop sunscreen and Core Power (code 20HRGIRL for 20% off) of course:)

I came home with this and cannot wait to try it.

Today’s post was written with Skye’s help.

For today’s questions… I want to hear about your unpopular opinions (most of mine are about food ha). I love reading people’s answers to these things.

Here are some of mine:

*Twix is overrated.  I don’t want a dry cookie in my chocolate.  I used to love them and I don’t know why.

*I like it getting dark early.  It makes my kids want to snuggle me more in the evening.  It also makes me feel more okay about my decision to be asleep by 9 pm;)

*I hate honey.  I love honey nut cheerios but don’t give me any real honey, please;).  Especially on a piece of bread.  I just want butter.

*A lot of toppings or meat on pizza (unless it’s my sister’s homemade pizza).  Give me the sauce and cheese (and maybe some fresh basil and tomatoes) and I am a happy camper.

*I HATE COLD ketchup on fries (I hope this is actually a popular opinion).  I want packets from the restaurant that are room temperature, ketchup from the fridge is not for me.

*Parks and Rec—> I have tried to get into that show 5 times and it just hasn’t happened and I’m not sure it ever will.

*I think eating the same meal over and over and over again is the best (Andrew is who switched that up for me because before him, I REALLY did that often).

*Marvel Movies and Star Wars. Just not for me.  I’ll watch them but the odds are high that I’ll probably fall asleep during them but that is true for most movies.

*Andrew does not like Serial (that podcast from 2014… I loved it).  I don’t understand this at all but this is his unpopular opinion… definitely not mine.

*I don’t like Captain Crunch one bit.  Maybe not as big of an unpopular opinion now but it sure was when I was a child growing up with my brothers.

*Andrew does not like syrup.  He really doesn’t even like pancakes unless he has honey butter or really good jam to go on top.  It’s strange.  He also doesn’t like toppings on/in his ice cream so we can’t take him super seriously on these types of topics;).

*Andrew doesn’t like watching football on tv which is unpopular among many of his friends and brothers.

*This is more of a recent thing for me but I can’t stand Goldfish crackers.  Maybe I was sick when I ate them pregnant or something but I would be okay if I never had to eat them again.  Even the smell of them…

*Andrew does not like warm showers.  It’s bizarre.

*Andrew LOVES the smell of cows.  I do not.

*Andrew also just told me that he doesn’t like drinking water ha.

Andrew is a rebel haha!

Bahaha he really is and the water one kind of scared me;). Hope you are having a great day, Cheryl!

Reply

Hahahah those are all great unpopular opinions, but the water one made me laugh out loud. Sometimes I don’t either! Like in the winter I’d rather drink a million cups of hot tea during the day.

Unpopular opinions for me- I don’t like sushi. Monopoly is the worst board game ever, it takes way too long. I think decaffeinated coffee is silly, caffeine is why I drink coffee! Driving is a chore for me, I only drive to get to places I want to go, not for enjoyment.

Reply

WATER?!? It stressed me out when he said that haha. Hot tea is great… I think Andrew just wants to drink soda all day;). I’ll take all of your sushi and I do not understand why people would drink decaffeinated coffee either. Yep, driving is the worst. Hope your day is a great one, Mariah!

Reply

Haha I actually agree with a lot of these! But I gotta lend you a piece of advice; if you’re ever willing to try twix again, try giving it a quick dunk in some coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. It makes the chocolate all melty and the cookie & caramel all soft. It’s a game changer and how I have to eat them. Otherwise, I agree, they’re pretty meh just dry.
Can you tell me how the “favorite things” party works? Sounds so fun! I’d love to know more!

Reply

Courtney, I will try a twix dipped into hot chocolate just for you and I’ll report back! They are so fun! So for this one the price limit was $30 and we each brought one gift (one of our favorite things). We each put our name into a bowl and went around a circle… when it was your turn to pick out a gift, you drew a name and gave your gift to them. SO fun to see everyone’s favorites. Have the best day, Courtney!

Another Twix comment – have you tried the salted caramel Twix? Yum!

Reply

The list cracked me up this morning. Now I am trying to think of any for me but having a hard time….
*I don’t drink coffee or any caffeine regularly and I really don’t understand people who do – just go to bed!
*Similar to above, I really don’t like hot drinks – During Christmas I will occasionally but otherwise I hate not being able to drink a beverage ASAP
*I don’t like sushi
*I don’t watch most highly popular binge shows or I watch them way, way after the fact – I used to be obsessed with popular culture but I just don’t have time anymore
*I love Star Wars but HATE Star Trek

Reply

Hahaha just go to bed yes…. I go through stages where I just go to bed and then the next week need caffeine to stay awake at 0 am. I’ll take allllll of your hot chocolate and sushi. Star Trek is BAD! Thank you for sharing, I loved reading these. Hope you have the best day, Jessey!

Reply

Hi Janae! These are such strong opinions! Gotta agree about the cold ketchup though.
Mine are that I wish they made savory cereal! I don’t like sweet cereal or sweet oatmeal.
Happy Tuesday!

Reply

Maybe a little too strong haha. Okay, how did I not know this about you and cereal?!? I’ll take it a step farther and tell you I like sweet soggy cereal ha;). Hope your day is a great one, Amy!

Reply

Unpopular opinion that I know I will get hate for… Taylor Swift is overrated.

I’m with you on ketchup! If I know I’m going to use it I take it out of the fridge well before I actually need it so it can come to room temp.

Reply

Same on Taylor Swift! HA!

Reply

You either love her or hate her… no middle ground with Taylor! HOW DO PEOPLE EAT COLD KETCHUP?! It makes no sense. I’m glad we can agree on that. Have a beautiful day, Maureen!

Reply

Ok here are my unpopular opinions:
1) I love going to bed early- like 8 or 9pm. I love sleep over tv/etc.
2) related to above: I prefer sunrises to sunsets.
3) I don’t like sweet things for breakfast (no pancakes or muffins) and I can’t do eggs in the morning. I prefer something like cheesy grits or toast with butter. Savory carbs!
I don’t know if these are unpopular or just the opposite of my husband’s preferences!!

Reply

YEP… sleep trumps tv/movies for me too. Also agree with sunrises. But your 3rd opinion, I cannot stand with hahaha…. hand me the cinnamon rolls. I loved reading these and getting to know you better. Have a beautiful day, Nadya!

Reply

I love reading these.
Mine are: I hate COSTCO and I do not understand the appeal at all.
Slightly stale gummy bears are the best.
I *HATE* windy days. Even if it’s beautiful, i will happily stay inside to avoid it. (Consequently I’m not a fan-person either).
I love wrapping gifts. I like to hoard all the gifts and wrap a bunch of them at once. It’s a treat for me at Christmas.
My coworkers like to keep the lights off or dim in the mornings but I want it lit up so I am always the jerk who turns on all the lights on the floor.

Reply

It is so fun to read everyone’s responses. I am more on your side about Costco (I love the products but not going there) but Andrew will be so sad to read this. YES to the gummy bears and I am hoping that means you love frozen gummy bears too. Yep. Wind is the worst things possible. Bringing our presents over to you. And if you ever come to my house and turn all of the lights on, I will be so mad at you;). Have the best day, Hilary!

Reply

Yes on the windy days! I can’t stand it no matter the temperature. And don’t even ask me to run in wind…

I’ll add mine on here too – I can’t stand the show Friends. Tried to watch it…it’s not funny, just dumb.

Reply

Same on Taylor Swift! HA!

Reply

I swear there is no middle ground with taylor, it’s either love or hate. Have the best day, Pam and I hope it is free of all of Taylor’s music.

Reply

oh man, mine are going to be very unpopular…
I don’t like cream cheese and bagels; that seems to be a big hit with everyone not me.
I don’t like bed bath and beyond, I get the worst headache, and always get something from there as a gift.
I don’t like the fact that the 90’s are back. I have a lot of trauma from that era I’d like to leave behind :)
I won’t name these artists, but there are certain singers that everyone loves and I just don’t like their music. I get the worse reactions when I tell someone that I don’t, like I just said the worse cuss word imaginable.

Reply

You are the first person I have met to say that about cc and bagels. I’ll get over it. Oh my gosh, I am WITH you on bb & b. Bahaha I am fully embracing the 90s fashion but I’ll try to limit the exposure of those things on my blog for you. I bet I can guess which artists haha. Have a beautiful day, Danielle!

Reply

Janae woke up today and chose violence. Hahah
But so will I by saying:
-I hate the game apples to apples. It’s so dumb, slow, and boring. It’s a lot of “omg I have the best/worst card for this! *Long moment of silence* Who hasn’t put a card down yet? “Oh I just can’t choose I have so many good options!” Cue me doing an Irish goodbye.
-Starbucks coffee is awful. It tastes burnt.
-I don’t like ice in my water. I thrive in Europe with this one.
-And the show The Voice is the absolute worst. It’s the professional singers making it all about themselves. “you both are so good!! How will I ever decide?” “Yes, I’m so happy to not be you having to make this decision!” Repeat for 60 minutes. And I was the first to not like Adam Levine. I was a decade early to that party.

On a happier note: have a great day, hope you had a great run this morning with friends and no mountain lions!

Reply

PURE VIOLENCE. Bahahaah but have you played apples to apples with me?! I keep hearing that about Starbucks. ICE. Stop it. I need ice to live a happy life haha. I’m with you on The Voice! Thanks Molly, we avoided all mountain lions (well, they always see us but I’m happy I didn’t see them;). Hope your day is a great one too. Thanks, Molly!

Reply

My #1 unpopular opinion that I JUST told my husband for the first time and now he thinks he doesn’t know me anymore haha: concerts are overrated. The sweaty crowds, standing up for hours, bad sound quality, insane traffic getting out of the parking lot. Doesn’t bring me joy lol

Reply

I mean… you have a point. And the fact that we pay so much to go to them hahaha. Such an interesting thing that we as humans do:). Hope your day is a great one without any sweaty crowds ha. Thanks, Christine!

Reply

I feel the same way!

Reply

These are so fun! I’ll give you five of mine — 1. I hate peaches. Furry fruit? Gross. 2. I despise the chocolate/mint combo. To me, it tastes like I’m eating a brownie after just brushing my teeth. 3. I can’t get into the show Schitt’s Creek. I have tried, and I just don’t find it funny. 4. I don’t like indoor plants. I love plants, but to me, the dirt and bugs should be kept outside.
5. Starbucks coffee is gross. Dunkin Donuts for me!
Also, my husband keeps honeybees AND makes maple syrup in the spring. I won’t tell him about your aversion to honey, or Andrew’s dislike of maple syrup. Though if either of you want to be adventurous and taste the real, fresh stuff, let me know where I can send some :)

Reply

PEACHES. Stacey. HOW. And the chocolate/mint thing… I want to cry hahaha but I totally can see where you are coming with both the furry fruit and toothpaste things:). Well, now I’ll be thinking about bugs when I look at any of my indoor plants ha. I WOULD LOVE TO TASTE THE FRESH STUFF… I think we just are trying the fake stuff and that’s why we don’t like it?!? Hope your day is the best one, Stacey!

Reply

These are all so funny!!

I hate cereal. I think it’s all gross with the exception of plain cheerios but only with whole milk and not when it gets soggy

Math is the best subject at school, hands down

Corn chips are way better than potato chips

Hard things are better than easy things

Reply

ANDREA… I AM SHOCKED OVER YOUR CEREAL OPINION and I am embarrassed to tell you that I love soggy cereal haha. Loved reading yours. Have a great day!

Reply

You have some similar unpopular opinions to me –

*I also don’t like honey, BUT I don’t mind honey flavored things. My fave cereals are Honeycomb and Golden Grahams, but I just don’t like real honey. It’s too strong a taste for me.

*I dislike cooked pepperoni, so I hate it on pizza. I don’t mind it if it’s cold on a charcuterie board with cheese slices, but on a pizza, no way! I feel it overpowers the taste the sauce and cheese (aka the best parts haha).

*I don’t like the Lord of the Rings books or movies (and this is coming from an English teacher). I just find them so, insanely boring and not worth my time…and I have seen the first 3 films and read about 50 pages of the first book – that’s all I could handle.

* I do not like spaghetti. I love almost every other kind of pasta, but I just do not like the texture of spaghetti in my mouth, so it has never been cooked at my house haha, unless my husband wants it for himself. I will gladly cook spiral noodles, stuffed pastas, penne, etc, but not spaghetti.

*I absolutely LOVE winter running (maybe not so unpopular in the running community, but I get weird stares from my husband and many nonrunning friends all the time on this haha). My husband is the opposite and LOVES hot, humid running…. now THAT I do not get at all!

*I hate pumpkin spice lattes. Sorry, not sorry haha. I love pumpkin flavored things, but I hate pumpkin flavored beverages with a passion. :P

Reply

I loved reading your unpopular opinions and I think we differ the most with spaghetti… I am so sorry for your loss on that one;) I’m with you, real honey is way too powerful of a taste. And your husband like hot and humid running, that is pure crazy to me! Have the best day, Elizabeth!

Reply

100% agree with you on honey. Its the worst! I cannot stand anything pumpkin spice. It just tastes like a candle to me.

Reply

Honey is truly the worst. I can absolutely see where you are coming from with the pumpkin spice too! Hope you get to avoid both things forever. Have a great day, Corrinne!

Reply

My newest discovery of unpopular opinion… I don’t like the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes. GROSS! I 100% agree about ketchup on fries! I love ketchup but warm. To combat this we purchase the smaller bottles and if there is even a chance someone wants ketchup it is taken out of the fridge when we start dinner.

Reply

I don’t know if I have ever tried one of those cakes. BRILLIANT idea with the smaller bottles, I will copy you with this from here on out. Have a beautiful day, Bridgette!

Reply

Mint and chocolate do not belong together.
I hate the song Bohemian Rhapsody, and pretty much all songs from Queen.
I can’t handle shows with canned laughter, e.g. Friends.
Disney princesses are better than superheroes.

Reply

RACHEL… mint and chocolate were created to be together;). Did you ever watch Bohemian Rhapsody?! That movie would have killed you. Hahaha I can see what you are saying about the canned laughter. Hope your day is a great one!

Reply

Ok, this is a fun game.

Nutella – I should like it? Chocolate is delicious, hazelnuts too. I do not.

!Soggy cereal, Nooooo Janae! hahaha, one of my daughters prefers it soggy too.

Coconut cream pie – ergh, like hair pie.

I’m with you on honey, cloyingly sweet. *I do love bees, though :)
And I love running on warm days. Have a beautiful honey-free day!

Reply

I truly laughed and startled my pup when reading “hair pie.” THAT IS HILARIOUS!!! (I love coconut but now I will think of this every time!)

Reply

“I don’t want a dry cookie in my chocolate” is HILARIOUS, and I agree. Except have you had the Twix ice cream bar? Because it’s nothing like the normal candy and it’s actually SUPER good.

I like winter more than any other season, also ok with the same meal over and over again, and I canNOT get into Marvel or Star Wars, so this is probably why we are internet friends. ;)

Also, I’m so tempted to try the Mach or the Bondi, but I’m just too scared because I’ve been a Clifton fan for years and I don’t know if I can do it! But dang, those colors are so pretty.

I love that you have bookclub and favorite things with your friends. It’s so hard making good friends as an adult, and it’s something I’ve been struggling with lately! Especially since I’m in my 30’s and don’t have kids. Anyway, you always inspire me to keep trying.

Reply

Totally with you on the Twix – I actually don’t like a lot of candy that I liked as a kid, especially if it involves a milk chocolate coating. The chocolate tastes kind of waxy to me now – I think I’ve turned into a dark chocolate snob in my older age :)

I also can’t stand beef or burgers. I wish I could say it was for ethical reasons, but the texture and taste of it are just a big nope for me! I haven’t had a traditional burger now in 30 years!

Reply

I was waiting for your olive opinion!! Last week when I was with my sister and her family we ordered pizza. My sister, niece and I all wanted olives on ours. My nephew-in-law says that olives on pizza make the whole thing taste like olives (Les is the same way!) As the granddaughter of an olive grower that is kind of the point ;)

I don’t listen to podcasts.
I’ve never watched a single Star Wars movie.
I can run hundreds of miles in a year and not run a single race.
I don’t mind flights that are about 4-5 hours. I’m a pro at packing enough snacks and entertainment.

Reply

I love exchanging unpopular opinions!! That breaks my heart about Parks n Rec for you, especially since you like The Office?!
Here are a few of mine:

-I hate ketchup on fries at all. Give me ranch or honey mustard or really anything aside from ketchup. Plain is fine too.
-Movie theater popcorn is TOO MUCH, too salty, too buttery, just TOO MUCH flavor.
-I prefer winter to summer (but everyone knows fall is the best)
-I don’t like going to concerts any more (Unless they are during the day and outside) I have 0 desire to stay up late (AND WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS ON WEEKNIGHTS?!), or deal with the crowds
-I hate BBQ sauce (I got food poisoning from pulled pork, not once but TWICE and I just cannot handle the smell or the taste of it anymore)

Also I’m worried about you. Andrew is clearly a psychopath ;)
(WHO DOESN’T LIKE WARM SHOWERS?!! DOES HE SHOWER COLD…ALL THE TIME? EVEN IN THE WINTER??)

Reply

I am with you about honey. To me it just tastes like dirt!

I don’t like peaches, cantaloupe or mangos. They smell so good but I can’t stand the slimy texture.
I’ve never read or seen anything Harry Potter. I’m a big reader but I’m just not interested in HP.
I HATE dry cereal with milk. Cannot stand soggy food! I only eat it dry, as a snack and not very often.

Reply

I don’t like drinking (plain) water either-haha. The only place I’ll drink a lot of it is at a restaurant. At home I always need to put something in it- lemon, Nuun, or a splash of juice.
I like my pancakes plain too. And i really like breaking off pieces and eating them with my hands.
I don’t like the movie Elf.

Reply

This is such a hilarious thread and I’ve learned so many new unpopular opinions I didn’t realize I had! haha.

I can not stand cereal milk or watching someone drink the leftover milk. I’d rather just add more cereal.

Flavored coffee beans are gross (why are we infusing beans with hazelnut or vanilla)

I do not like Yankee Candles or any of those massive, scented candles in a jar. I get a headache.

Cropped winter jackets and sweaters (don’t tummy’s freeze?) are silly and the 90’s “fashion” resurgence is painful to witness. I guess if I go back to photos when I was a young mom I now look stylish, but those who are now wearing mom jeans used to make fun of us!

Frozen twix are great. If I eat a twix I like to bite it so the caramel and chocolate come off, then the cookie.

Those sugar cookies are exactly what a sugar cookie should be!!! Thanks for the links!!! ’tis the season where cookies are pre/post run fuel.

Reply

I am concerned that there’s someone in the works that doesn’t like warm showers.
I don’t like blueberries which people find shocking. I like the flavor when they are baked into something but I hate them raw! Too squishy! I also don’t like corn kernels on a salad for the same reason (corn on the cob is a-ok).
I don’t know if I have any other unpopular food opinions. I don’t like olives very much but I feel like that is a pretty popular opinion!

Reply

I think my biggest unpopular opinion is that I don’t like any dessert with fruit in it. No pie, cobbler, crisp…whatever. Dessert is not meant to have healthy stuff. ;) Also unpopular (but I *think* you agree with me on this) – I enjoy running in the rain!

Reply

I agree with you on Star Wars, but I do enjoy a good Marvel movie. Also, my kids (and husband) are obsessed, so that helps ;)

How can Andrew not like Serial?? I used it in my English class last year and my students loved it! I even have former students come into my class and talk with me about the newest updates.

I am not a fan of meat in general, maybe a little chicken, but otherwise not so much. I have to chew it too much.

I am also not a fan of mashed potatoes. I definitely have an issue with some textures.

I love long road trips. My kids are amazing travelers and I find it so peaceful.

I don’t really enjoy watching TV (this drives my husband crazy! I would much rather read a book.

I love the dentist. I didn’t go as a kid, and I am just so grateful that I can as an adult.

Reply

I don’t like desserts a la mode. Ice cream on its own is fine, but it doesn’t belong on the same plate with pie, cake, cobbler, etc. Same with whipped cream. This one’s becoming more popular now that more of my friends and family are lactose intolerant as we get older, hah!

I can’t get into boxy tees or cropped anything.

I prefer to drive a stick, which must be unpopular since you can’t find them anymore!

Reply

I have unpopular opinions:
-I don’t like things to hot or cold. Lukewarm water and lukewarm soup are my favorite.
-I do not like Starbucks
-I think “Friends” has aged BADLY and I don’t like it anymore
-I do not like brunch (this is a dealbreaker for many, hahah)

Reply

I hate country music. um, ditto Harry Potter..I tried, just boring…….and don’t get me started on Michael Buble.

Reply

I love soggy cereal (mixed kinds especially)
I don’t like garlic or onion on ANYTHING
I don’t like white potatoes only yams
I don’t like Starbucks but LOVE Tim Horton’s
I love dipping pretzels into syrup :) (Don’t tell Andrew)

Thanks for the fun blog

Question about the Core Power — I LOVE it so much, do you know if they ship to an APO and does your code work on Amazon? I am currently deployed and we are missing our favorite protein drinks!! :)

Hope you have an amazing holiday season, thanks for always being a bright light on the blog and IG !

Reply

I don’t like “Friends”. Everybody I know seems to adore that show, but I just don’t think it’s interesting or funny and find all the characters super unlikable. :)

Reply

Okay I love All of these!!

My unpopular opinion that NO one else has written – I don’t like to travel!! I’ll go to the occasional All inclusive where I can lay around and no nothing but anything remotely adventurous and I’m OUT! Backpacking sounds like an absolute nightmare to me – switching locations, getting lost, foreign languages, touring, people I don’t know… no thank you. I tried to force myself to like it for most of my life until I just accepted that it’s not for me.
I’m a huge homebody and I’m happiest just hanging out in my house.
