The day we kept losing important things, a wedding and a BOOTCAMP DATE!?!

We kept losing things yesterday.  It first started off when I locked my keys in the house (the floor guys have my garage door opener) so we hung out in the driveway for quite some time.  Later on I lost my keys in Target… that was fun.  And most importantly, Andrew lost his wallet (and found it).  After the Target incident, Brooke said I was ‘Struggle City.’  She was completely right.

My treadmill isn’t set up quite yet (because we are still working on that room) and so locking myself out of the house/car lost me my gym daycare spot so running didn’t happen.  I even had my new SPEED shoes packed up with me for my run so I could get some good intervals in…  next time!

We moved farther away from my mom (she had my other car key…how am I surviving so far from her;) so we just hung out and Brooke used me as her jungle gym until we were able to get going.

We need one of those doors where you just enter a number to get inside.. keys aren’t my thing.

We had a very important wedding to get to!  AB and J to go!  PS I am hooked on almond butter… I prefer it way over peanut butter even.

IMG 4105

Brooke fell asleep on the way up!   The wedding was up the canyon in a gorgeous area and it was much cooler up there which was perfection.

LINDSEY got married!!! She was a huge support to me during the years of single momness and I am so happy for her and her kiddos to have found such a perfect fit!

Once Brooke woke up it took her approximately 30 seconds to go from this:

Megan lightened her hair and I’m obsessed with it.

DSC06501

Caught red-handed;)

Andrew is good friends with the groom too so I see some fun double dates in the near future.

DSC06514

He sure is good with Brooke.

And for the daily Brooke and Beretta cuddling picture.

IMG 4115

Long story short—>  Somehow Andrew’s wallet ended up in a box, I took the box out to the trailer and then Andrew took all of the boxes down to the recycling bins…

That happened on Sunday and we searched the entire house yesterday.  Every inch of it.  Andrew went back yesterday to check in the recycling bins for his wallet and there it was.  It’s a miracle.  We are going out of town this weekend too and his wallet is very needed = hallelujah he found it.  I’ll try to avoid throwing his wallet away from here on out;)

IMG 4126

We had our first bootcamp date… we probably shouldn’t have worn gray ha!  Megan invited us on over to bootcamp and it was KILLER.  Like such a good workout and the post workout feeling… I think that is probably the #1 reason why I workout.  Mentally and physically I just feel so much better afterwards.  It was more fun than ever to have Andrew there killing it.  Megan’s bootcamp classes involve a lot of circuits, heart rate blasters, weights, running, jumping, squatting, push-upping… aka everything;)

Andrew had a soccer game after bootcamp so I’m sure he is just going to feel great today;)

IMG 4130

While we were at bootcamp I was telling Megan that my left arm feels SOOOO much stronger than my right arm.  She asked me what side I carry Brooke on—> yep, my left.  Holding her with my right arm just feels bizarre!

IMG 4156

Watching the Olympics in my patriotic Launch 3s just makes it that much more exciting for me.

IMG 4163

PS Andrew and I are going to CANADA THIS WEEKEND!!! We will be in Victoria… so if you have any recommendations for things to do in that area PLEASE let me know.  We cannot wait.

Oh and I have to share this with you..  SEVENTY SEVEN MILES?!?!  Holy cow!

What do you lose most often?

Is your right or left arm stronger?  Parents—>  What side do you carry kiddos on?

Where is your favorite place that you have ever visited?

-Andrew is already getting me out there exploring and we’ve only been married a month ha!

What is your run looking like today?

-I’m just excited to run because it feels like it has been forevvvvver since my last run.  I’m sure Andrew just loves how dramatic I am.

I LOVE Megan’s hair!! I think I lose my mind most often. Just kidding :) It’s probably my badge at work. I am always misplacing that thing!

I did some intervals for today’s speed work, and then I’m playing basketball with my coworkers right after work today, so tomorrow’s run is definitely going to be a bit sluggish.

Reply

I run with my ID for safety and have often left it in my shorts or misplaced it in the car. Never lost it but certainly made myself panic a few times!
Victoria will be such a fun trip! I’ve heard it’s like going to Britain.

Reply

There are so many amazing places that I’ve been lucky to visit (my husband is also into exploring/traveling so we’ve been going crazy since we graduated college!) My top place might be Murren, Switzerland, which is just incredible. Highly recommend! This weekend I’ll also be in Canada (Vancouver) and I’m super excited! Hope you have a great trip as well :)

I ran a short and slow 4 miles this morning for recovery. Having to cut back some due to this pregnancy making it harder now. I’m subbing some of my mileage with spinning so it’s still fun :) Have a blast in Canada!!

Reply

I lose headphones like it’s going out of style. I feel like they’re in my hand one second and then disappear. I think I’ve gone through 5 pairs in the last two months. It’s not the best haha.

Today’s run was a quick 5 miles while zoning out on the treadmill. It was too dark for me to get it done outside, but the run was awesome and felt really comfortable. Back at it!

Reply

Victoria??? So jealous. Go to Butchart Gardens…and really…just be outside. Perfect weather. We thought about moving there. Loved everything about it. We stayed at the Magnolia, they have a great spa. Have fun!

Old Vic Fish and Chips. So amazing and authentic. It’s where our concierge told us that HE world go. Check out the Parliament building, the Empress Hotel (the tea time is so expensive, but you can walk around in there), Butchart Gardens, whale watching, and the Royal BC Museum. Victoria is so fun and British-feeling! You are going to love it!

Reply

That is really lucky about Andrew’s wallet! You would think someone would have taken it. I’m always losing my phone and it’s definitely something I can’t live without!

Reply

Our exercise looked like two miles of slow walking this morning to loosen our muscles. We are still very much in recover mode from our 135 miles of fun over the weekend.

I posted on our blog, so you can catch the recap there.

Todd tends to lose things and I tend to find them for him.

My right arm is stronger b/c I shattered my left collar bone training for an Ironman and I will forever favor that arm.

Reply

Today is a public holiday in South Africa, so I went for a easy 11km run and I started after 08h00. It’s winter over here so it was nice to start late. Gordons Bay near Cape Town is great! Enjoy Canada! !

Reply

My family and I play this game all too often… it’s called “where’s my cellphone?!” Usually, one of us calls the missing cell phone while the rest of us put our ears to the floor to try to hear the faint ringing.

We’ve found cell phones in the RANDOMEST places including: under/behind furniture, in a cookie jar, in the freezer, and my personal favorite — in my hand!

That’s right, I’ve been so out of it/panicked/crazy that I’ll freak about losing my cell phone when it is literally in my hand :(

Has anyone else done this?

Hi! Loving your blog. From today I’m loving ‘Struggle City’ too, I may have to borrow that one :)

My run was nonexistant today, I also feel as though it’s been an age since the last one, which was yesterday! Oh well…

I don’t lose my daily necessities but when I lose something it’s years before I find it or I never find it. Like my road id shoe pockets. I had 3 and now I only have 1.
I’m gonna try for 5 miles today. Been hovering in the 3-4 mile range for the last month just because the heat is so intense.
My boyfriend and I love to travel. We are going to Banff Canada near Calgary next month. We are also going to Seattle and Vancouver.

Reply

Our family LOVES Canada!!! Every time we go we joke about moving there! You HAVE to go to the Butchart Gardens! It’s gorgeous! I could literally spend ALL day there!!! We also love the farmers market and Beacon Hill Children’s Farm. I think I need to go back ;)

Reply

I’ve always wanted to go to prince Edward islands, I have no clue where that is in Canada in relation to Victoria, but hey, if it’s close by I’d go there. It supposed to be beautiful. I grew up watching Anne of green gables, and that’s where it takes place.

Reply

It’s the total opposite side of the country, haha ;-)

Reply

Haha well I guess that’s out then. :)

Reply

I was just in Victoria last summer! It was such a cool town and I could have spent days there. We were on a cruise and only had a couple hours during the evening to spend there so we mostly hung out/walked around on Government Street. My favorite places I’ve ever visited are Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, Alaska and Seattle :)

Reply

I went just past the border of Canada wayyyy back when you didn’t have to have a passport. It was my Dads way of making sure his children were “international” travelers. We didn’t get out of the van! Anyway have fun!!

Reply

That dog-with-the-tongue-out pic… SO GOOD! Have fun in Canada!

Reply

I switch back and forth carrying my daughter because she is so wiggly that I just end up “catching” her in the opposite arm every few minutes. Maybe I should try keeping her on the left side to gain some strength. It’s crazy how much weaker one side can be!

Reply

I always carried my son on my right side. As a lefty it just felt right this way

Reply

You will have such a great time in Victoria! I am Canadian – I live in Ontario but my husband is from Victoria so we visit regularly. You should definitely do the following:

– Visit fisherman’s wharf for some fish and chips, houseboat viewing and seal sighting
– Eat at Fishhook for some delicious sandwiches and fish
– Go for a run along Dallas Terrace. It runs along the ocean and is gorgeous
– Have high tea at the Empress Hotel. It is a bit pricey but it is so classic and British.
– Just wander around the inner harbour and enjoy the view
– Wander outside of the downtown and hang out in the smaller areas like Cook Street Village

Have a great little getaway! Victoria is a stunning town filled with great people :)

My right arm was stronger, my 5 year old got to big for me to carry a when she turned four – tear. However, oddly I’m right handed and left footed so I’m this weird contradiction where my right arm is stronger and my left leg is stronger. It was comical when I learned how to play golf. I’ve never been to Canada, but I can’t wait to see pics!

Reply

Left-footed? Is that a thing? I’ve never heard of that!

Reply

Yes! I was a gymnast and I have always been more flexible and did cartwheels, etc with my left foot. I probably never would have known if it weren’t for gymnastics ;)

Reply

Try and stop by Tacofino for out of this world tacos/nachos/burritos. I visited BC from the UK in May and their crispy chicken burrito almost made me want to move there.
Also we saw humpbacks and orcas with the ‘Prince of Whales’ whale watching company and it was truly incredible! Once in a lifetime experience – cannot recommend it enough!!

Reply

I’m always losing my keys! It’s a problem. I’m glad I have a door that has to be locked with a key or I’d be locking myself out all the time.

Reply

My family and I just got back from Canada- it is such a beautiful place with so much to do! Downtown Victoria has a quaint little chocolate shop called Roger’s chocolates that is so fun to walk through (not to mention delicious). There’s also a restaurant called 10 acres kitchen which served one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life, although it’s definitely on the “splurge” side of things. We took and architectural/historical walking tour around downtown to get a feel for the city, which I would highly recommend, and I’ve also heard that the BC museum is a great! Ok last thing :), you’ve got to get some animal time in your trip: kayaking with harbor seals (we got a tour from Kelp Reef Adventures) and/or going orca whale watching (we went in Sidney but there are tour places in Victoria too) are both such fun options! Whatever you do it’ll be fun and the weather has been so nice lately!

Reply

We love our keyless entry on the house!!
I had a really rough week with losing stuff too! I left my sunglasses at a restaurant and my credit card in the bill on the same night!

I would assume my left arm is stronger since I’m left handed. No more carrying my babies since my youngest is 9, unless of course it’s on my back :)

My fav place I’ve visited is probably Greece. I’ve been to Athens and Rhodes and I would love to go back and visit the rest of the Greek Islands.

Run today is 6 easy.

Reply

You HAVE to stop by Fishermans Wharf in Victoria. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the main inner harbour and has colourful houseboats and little takeaway restaurant wit picnic tables, etc right on these big docks. The best part is though that there are wild harbour seals thay hang out there and you can buy raw fish from the fish and chips place to feed the seals. You’ll see a crowd of people around the area where they are. We live in Vancouver so we go to Victoria often and I make a point to do it everytime I go.. just watch for seagulls because they will swoop in to eat the fish that you have for the seals.

Reply

High tea at the Empress Hotel in Victoria is totally worth it. My husband kinda scoffed at it when I first told him we were going but he ended up loving it. He tells everyone about it. Also the Butchart Gardens. Must go.

Reply

I am forever, forever, forever locking myself out of the house. So I have a key hidden outside so I can let myself back in. My cousin has an extra key in a lockbox on her porch so maybe it’s a genetic thing .

I did my first triathlon on Sunday and am enjoying some relaxing and stretching this week. I may do a quick run tomorrow because I’m already missing the crazy workouts.

Venice and Hawaii were my favorite kid free places. We went to Cocoa Beach last year and my kids loved it. The waves were calm at the beach and the pool at the hotel we were at was awesome. We never left.

Reply

You will love Victoria! Check out Beacon Drive-in for amazing food & the creamiest soft serve ice cream. ?

Reply

Yes! I am from Vancouver Island and second the soft-serve recommendation :) Also running along Dallas Road. There are some great hikes in the area also. Have a great time!

Reply

Oh you’ll have a great time in Canada. I’ve never been to Victoria though so I’m no help there.

For me, I lose my keys most often. I think it’s about once every few weeks. Honestly I just get so frustrated but if I just relaxed and took a step back I would probably find them much faster.

Reply

There are so many great trails in Victoria and near Victoria! Elk/Beaver Lake is super close and is a nice and easy 10k loop to run. Or if go out of the city go to Juan de Fuca for a few hours, it’s beautiful!

Reply

hahaha OMG I feel you! A few days ago i got my bike and wanted to ride it home, i drppoed my cell in the way got home and then realized it… BF went back but no cell phone anywhere and then we went back together to look for it… And out of the blue someone asked us if we lost anything… apparently this very polite and nice guys had gathered it but couldnt do anything with it because -obviously since it is me- my phone was out of battery!

Reply

I’m forever losing things! I take my glasses off a lot and they’ve been sat on a few times because of it…
I was 11 when my brother was born so he was like my little baby. I took care of him and carried him around all the time and I’m definitely a right sided carrier.

Reply

I lose my mind and patience the most… I end up searching for my phone because I move it from my bag to my wallet to my gym bag, etc.

I carry most stuff on my right side but that’s also the side of my back that’s out of whack. So now I’m trying to balance it out.

My favorite place ever is Maui; gorgeous, laid back and full of good memories. San Diego is where I would choose to live if the husband would only go for it.

Reply

I love Victoria so much! We went on a road trip there last summer! My favorite thing was High Tea at the Emperess. A fancy and scrumptious tea party. My hubby even enjoyed it! Was always on my bucket list, and it was so fun! Make sure to make reservations at least a day or two in advance, you can do it on their website. We also enjoyed the little harbor cruises you can take on the water taxis aka pickle boats. Relaxing, historical, and interesting. Come to think of it, we also did the double-decker bus city tour, fun too! It is a beautiful and relaxing city lots of yummy food – making me crave gelato! :) Enjoy your adventure!!!

Reply

Struggle City. Too funny. I lose my wedding ring temporarily a lot. Especially if I’m not home because I don’t have a set place to put it like I do at home. Not good. I loved visiting the British Isles and Budapest, Hungary, and Switzerland. I haven’t been to Canada yet but I want to.

Reply

Thank you for sharing that story about the dog. That was so touching and a great way to start my morning!

Reply

I just moved to Victoria last month, and it’s awesome! I would highly recommend Tacofino – it’s delicious. For running spots, I like Dallas Road for amazing views and the 10k loop at Elk/Beaver Lake. Maybe I will see you out there this weekend! :) Enjoy your trip!

Reply

I don’t lose things often. I am OCD about everything having an exact place and I put things in their place, always. So I never have to spend time looking for things. My husband and kids hate it thought because when THEY can’t find something and they ask me, ‘Mom? Where are my ____?’ I always reply, ‘If you always put things where they go, you never have to wonder where they are.’ They don’t like that answer ;)

Ross and I went to Vancouver when I was 9 weeks pregnant with Annabelle. It was so beautiful there. We wanted to go to Victoria but we didn’t have the time or extra money (poor college students, yo) to take the ferry over and do the things we wanted. We started to drive up to Whistler, but never made it. Those roads were wiiiindy and my stomach couldn’t handle it. Poor Ross was so sad. We need to go bad and do all the things we couldn’t then. One things we did do is stock up on Oreos. Canadian oreos are soooo much better. Please bring me back a family sized pack. I will pay you. They are Ross’ favorite.

The wedding looked beautiful, as does Lindsey. So so happy for her!

My run was 4 miles in 95% humidity! Ugh! I am over NC summer!!!

Interesting you mention being stronger on the side you carry your kiddo. I have a 2 yr old and noticed about a year ago that my right hip was kinda sore from time to time. Guess what hip I always carried her on??? Yep. I make an effort now to switch it frequently and the soreness vanished. Even though she’s 2, she still likes to be carried a LOT! For that matter, even my 6 yr old does from time to time!

Reply

Yahoo!! Welcome to Victoria :) It is beautiful here and you won’t want to leave! Here are a few crazy cool things to do:

1) take a harbour tour on one of the small boats at the inner harbour

2) have a patio sip at the Steamship Grill

3) Walk the Breakwater on Dallas Road

4) Grab a famous ice cream from Beacon Drive in (beside Beacon Hill Park) and walk through the park

5) Run around Beaver/Elk Lake (10km loop) or along Dallas Road

6) Grab a homemade Empire donut from Picnic coffee on Fort Street and walk through the stores

7) Stroll Government Street

8) Go zip lining at Adreline Zip Lines and then enjoy a burger after at the 17 mile. This is a whole day event ;)

Have a wonderful and welcome, welcome WELCOME!!!

Reply

I second all of these things! and would like to add this to the list… http://www.freebfilmfest.com/ It’s a free movie festival they put on in Beacon Hill Park. Bin 4 is also a great place for burgers and you can grab pizza from Pizzaria Prima Strada on Cook St. to take to Beacon Hill Park! Enjoy our awesome city!!

Reply

Yes!!! Free B Film fest for sure… good one Ashley ;) Seriously though, Victoria is so beautiful and has a million and one things going on… hard to capture them all!! I love seeing my city through others eyes and can’t wait for the posts and pictures.

Reply

I live here too and second everything on the list! Especially Bin 4 Burgers!

I would add Rogers Chocolate for a treat and coffee in Cook St. Village. So many great hikes too if you want to get a bit out of the city.

Reply

Oh my goodness, I lose things all the time too. I haven’t lost my keys lately, but I’ve come close! I always seem to misplace Landon’s things too. (sorry babe!) I have yet to toss his wallet though ;)

Today’s run? 2 miles in fairly decent weather!! My brain keeps telling me what a tiny distance that is, but it feels like my 10 milers (ha!) maybe it has something to do with me being 37 weeks pregnant?? ;) Even though my distances and paces are way different than they used to be, I’m thankful I can still run!!
Have fun running today! I understand the dramatics, I’m the same way ;)

Reply

I was in Victoria just a couple weeks ago! Although I only had a few hours in Victoria (I took a day trip from Vancouver where I was staying), make sure you check out Chinatown (it’s one of the oldest Chinatown’s in all of North America) and spend some time out on the water. It’s an absolutely beautiful city. You’re going to really enjoy your time there.

I feel like I lose my mind most Often! (We are dealing with the “terrible twos” ?up in this house!) working out/running helps me find it! My workout looked like WERQ at 5:30 am and bootcamp this evening. I just got the Garmin Forerunner 235 do you go swimming it? Take Brooke to the splash park? I was just wandering I have a toddler that I take to the splash park and I occasionally take water aerobics. I know it says water resistant just wondering if you or anyone has swam in it? Thanks

Reply

Have so much fun! I’m lucky to call Vic home.
I would pop by Beacon Hill Drive-In for icecream, Miss Cold Comfort for custom donut icecream sandwiches, run along Dallas Road, drive up Mount Tolmie or hike up Mount Doug, hike in East Sooke Park on the coast trail, eat at Ferris’s Oyster Bar, and definitely breakfast at Jam. But I just love all those things and places ;)

Reply

Victoria is beautiful! We got married there 5 years ago. You need to run along Dallas road, it is awesome and some areas double as an off leash dog park so you can get your dog fix. There is also a nice run around elk lake and bonus you can dip your feet in the water after or go for a swim. You can rent bikes and go along the galloping goose trail which is awesome as well. Lots of good restaurants! And like many have said, check out butchart gardens (elk lake is close if you want to pair activities). We got married at sooke harbour house which is about a 25 minute drive but the dinner is worthwhile!

Reply

My right arm is stronger aka kiddo holder arm! ;) Now that she’s walking though I get a little less strength training (boo!)

New York is my favorite place, that followed closely by Pictured Rocks in Upper Michigan. Gorgeous and great trails for hiking!

Looking to do 5 miles today after work, busy week so getting them in where I can.

Reply

I don’t lose things very often because I always put them in the same places. My lovely wife on the other hand….

I carry the little ones in my right arm because it was already stronger and more coordinated. My left arm is almost vestigial (oooh, big word).

I cheated on my run today. Just wasn’t feeling it and my knee was locked up since Sunday run.

For me: The best place in the U.S. is Big Sur. The best place in the world is Oberammergau Germany. I’m open to finding other, better alternatives but traveling with a big family right now isn’t happening. (Unless there is some sort of emergency my two younger kiddos will get their first plane rides when we go to, where else, Big Sur next year for the marathon).

Tim Hortons donuts. Go to Brentwood bay and rent kayaks. Butterfly gardens (close to butchart gardens).

What a beautiful bride!!

We visited London this year and that was pretty amazing!! We have a pad lock on our door with a code so I never get locked out. It has been a very good investment for me!! lol

Reply

Oof that bootcamp looks really intense. Workout buddies do make it better though! I’m much stronger on my left arm too and I think it’s because I’m left0handed so I’m just used to picking things up with my left hand, carrying groceries, etc. Today’s run is looking like a few easy miles. I did 7 miles of track intervals yesterday so I’m a bit sore today!

Reply

Oh, yay for Canada! You guys will be nestled right up against the lower mainland where we live. Victoria is beautiful; that’s where I ran my first marathon in 1998. Enjoy your trip!

Victoria is amazing! My husband and I went there last fall and had a fantastic time. I highly recommend Brasserie L’ecole for dinner-it’s dark and romantic. We also rented mopeds and drove around the city. That was so much fun!!

Glad he found his wallet! That was a close one.

My favorite high-income country I’ve visited is Italy and my favorite low-income is Honduras! I love love Central and South America! (i’m living in Peru right now and thinking about Guatemala next)

I’ve actually never been to Canada! I want to go some time soon though

Reply

Back home in Chicago today and just knocked out a 7-miler along the lakefront. Good to be home!

Don’t think I have an absolute favorite place but I was just in Cape Cod over the weekend and it was BEAUTIFUL!

Reply

Losing your wallet is one of the most terrifying things. I hate that guttural feeling. So glad you all found your lost items in the end of it all.

Most often, I lose whatever book I’m reading at the moment. I carry them everywhere and put them into places I have no idea how they got there! Coming in close second would definitely be sunglasses! While I’m not a parent, I do nanny a 9 month old and always carry her on my right. I’m the opposite- carrying her on my left feels so strange! I’m not as confident in that arm. Rolling with the questions… favorite place I’ve ever visited is hands down Spain! I just came back from a summer of studying abroad and it changed my life.

Final question! No run for me today, but I’m enjoying the sunshine outside with some reading. :) Have a beautiful Tuesday, Janae!

I misplace my brain too much.. lol!

Congrats to your friend! What a beautiful place for a wedding!!!!

Have fun in Victoria!

Red Fish Blue Fish has amazing seafood … and I don’t even like seafood. Don’t miss the mushy edamame.
We took a float plane tour for some great aerial views of the city.
Craigdarroch Castle is a neat landmark at the top of the hill. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the Inner Harbor area.
Take the water taxi around the harbor.
Run around the harbor on the waterfront path and out around the point on Dallas Rd. for amazing views.

Reply

So far in life I’m pretty good about not losing things, people even consider me crazy for having my driver’s license and debit card in my phone case (since I’m at risk for losing everything at once). But knock on wood I stay responsible. I have locked myself out of my apt/house a few times, but didn’t technically lose the keys.

While you’re in Victoria, you should hop over to Vancouver for the Lululemon Seawheeze half marathon! Or at least come join some awesome people for yoga/music at the sunset festival :)

Reply

If you’ll be in Vancouver at all, you should take the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish! The views are gorgeous and there are so many trails at the top you can follow! Also, there is an incredible suspension bridge at the top. The whole thing is just beautiful.

Another Vancouver recommendation… Do the Deep Cove hike to Quarry Rock. And afterwards, go to Honey Donuts which is in the little town RIGHT by the trail head. The Donuts are AMAZING (I recommend the cinnamon sugar, but you really can’t go wrong).

I’ve never gone to Victoria, but I’ve heard it is amazing! Enjoy!

Reply

So exciting that you’re coming to Canada!! I wish you were coming to Alberta though :( Victoria is beautiful, you will love it! I have no recommendations as it’s been years since I’ve been but I can’t wait to read all about your adventure.

My right arm is definitely stronger and that’s the arm I carry my kiddos with. And I recently discovered I can finally do the monkey bars, all that strength training must be paying off :)

Can I just ask why your friends chose to get married on a Monday? Just very nosy…

Oh I am very nosy too:) SO now they have SIX kiddos between the two of them so it was a date that worked for all of the kids to be there, before school starts and before a few trips! It was just the only day that worked out for everyone involved! Hope you have a fabulous day Hilary!

Cool. THa t makes perfect sense. I got married on a Thursday so I’m always curious for others’ non-traditional wedding days :)

I ran 10 today at an easy pace but for whatever reason have had a stomach ache ever since :(. Stomach aches are the worst during runs. Favorite place is a really hard question. Maybe Yosemite in CA. I am going to Yellowstone in a couple weeks so if anyone has been and has any suggestions also let me know!!

By the way, I love the article.

And Brooke is killin me with the Struggle City! Have so much fun in Victoria!

Reply

Hey Janae! So I’m heading to St. George this weekend….where would suggest to run down there?

Reply

I was in Victoria last weekend! The weather this time of year is amazing, and only a short burst from Seattle for me. You MUST go see the Butchart Gardens. I love nature, but overly pruned gardens have never been my thing. That being said- these gardens are some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. A large portion of it was built buy trucking in over a million pounds of soil to place over a quarry. That’s dedication.

I hear the hiking and whale watching is amazing, but I was only there for a day. Next time I’ll be staying the weekend. Their is just so much to see!! Have a fun time in Canada!

Reply

We added a keyless entry pad to both our garage & front doors. They are inexpensive & easy to install.
Have a blast in Canada!!!

Reply

Victoria is the best. I lived there for years and years. Everyone else will cover the touristy things to do but food-wise… make sure to go to Pagliacci’s. It’s an Italian place downtown (all the locals know about it and it will be BUSY with lines out the door) and the pasta is incredible but really everyone goes for the bread basket. Seriously. Fresh out of the ovens bread. It’s amazing.

Lately I’ve been losing my phone very frequently! Luckily whenever that happens, I just get my husband to call it from his phone, and we can track it down by the sound of it ringing :)

I love the article you posted. I swear I’m terrified to get a pet bc I’m terrified of loving something so much. It is amazing that a tiny dog like Gobi made it 77 miles. All my friends’ dogs give up after like 2 lol!

Hey I live in Alberta, Canada! Glad you’re visiting beautiful Victoria. I would defs visit Butchart gardens. It is absoluetly amazing. Make sure you try Tim Hortons while you’re here (ummm DONUTS!!! I recommend the chocolate timbits. I too lvoe apple fritters, but Tims doesn’t make a great fritter).
Where did you get your outfit from that you wore to the wedding? Brooke also looked adorable!
Are you still taking running accomplishments?

Do you have a garage? That’s how I get in just about anywhere, I use the garage code and… magic! Great for kids to (if they can remember the code…) so you don’t have to give them keys!

Um, a candy bar at the wedding!? OMG THAT LOOKS SO GOOD! I should do that… (one day, or well, just for fun).

Brooke and Beretta make me so happy.

I locked myself out once. My husband had to drive an hour home and then back to the office to let us in. After that, he installed a lockbox with a key on the porch. After we moved, he installed a lock box at our new house. It’s saved the kids and contractors a couple of times.

I think my right arm is stronger- I always carried the girls on my right arm…. I still carry my youngest sometimes :) Just for a few seconds though cuz she’s getting so heavy. I just want to hold her and squeeze her..but my arms don’t let me! Plus I know she’ll be too embarrassed if I did that in public.
Canada was fun! I went to Vancouver and Banff (? I forgot the spelling..of that cute place), Niagara Falls…
Hope you enjoy! For me, the most memorable place was Kyoto. It was just gorgeous and I loved it out there.

You MUST go see the Bucharest Gardens. I am pretty sure they are in Victoria or on Victoria Island. I visited when I was 15 and I remember thinking it was Heaven on Earth.

Buchart Gardens. Not “Bucharest.” stupid autocorrect…

$40 and less than 5 min to install a keypad on your garage. Best money we’ve ever spent!

Oh gosh, ‘struggle city’ is hilarious. I am proudly Canadian and will also be in Victoria for the first time this weekend. We have been told Red Fish Blue Fish is the place to eat. We are staying near China Town so I’m super excited about that! Enjoy!

My favorite trip was when my husband and I visited Monterey Bay California! It was absolutely beautiful! Hope you have a wonderful vacation!

I lived in Victoria for 3 years and became a runner there/ran my first half a full marathons there! It is so beautiful and perfect running conditions!
Run along Dallas road! Start at the breakwater/lighthouse and run as far as you want. It goes on for miles. Beacon hill park is also beautiful to run through and has a petting zoo and amazing icecream at the beacon hill drive through across the street.
EAT DONUTS AT DISCOVERY COFFEE!
I miss these almost everyday, seriously. They are delivered fresh every morning to the coffee shops. There are 4
Locations around downtown.
JAM and blue fox Cafe are the best breakfast in town, you need to eat here! Prepare for a line up or go when they open.
Picalinos is amazing Italian, PIG is the best BBQ, red fish blue fish has the best fish tacos, Hernandez has amazing Mexican
I could go on and on but these are the best of the best. Enjoy!

I love love love Victoria! I went there with my then boyfriend/now husband years ago when we lived in OR. Of course you have to do high tea at the empress hotel, yah gardens is very pretty, there’s a nearby castle thE kids might like (craigharnie castle or something like that?) and my husband loved the ant museum….(it wigged me out a little bit because I’m not a fan of bugs, but the kids and Andrew would like it!. Of course we were there in the winter so I’m not sure about summertime/outdoors things. Also, if you’re taking the ferry to get there, buy some ginger medicine in Canada-it helped with our sea sickness a ton. Ok have a blast!!
