(Bra, shoes, leggings, top)

Some friends are still in marathon training, so we rallied together to help one get in a 20-mile run with a 5-mile tempo in the middle. I finished with 14.6 miles @ 7:36 pace, and I can’t express how happy I am that I took two weeks off after Seville because I’m feeling really good now. Rest is cool.

The wind is not cool, though; I’m amazed we could smile for this picture because our faces were frozen.

Lauren and I went to the gym afterward to get in some weights, and she had us work on our hip flexors.  We lifted the kettlebells with each leg ten times before switching to the other side x 3.  It burned.  Our shoes couldn’t fit inside the kettlebell ha.

The rest of Saturday was pretty packed between swim lessons…

I also switched my nails up to my favorite shade of green.

Then Andrew got off work earlier than expected, and we headed to his parents’ house to visit with his sister, who was visiting.

There is just something about going to their grandparents’ house that puts kids in a very good mood.

Sunday was as low-key as it comes, and of course, I made another TJ’s 5-item or less meal.

Cheesy Gnocchi Bake.  This IG account has helped me increase my cooking by 80% because everything is simple.

I finished The Women in my front yard with tears streaming down my face.  I forced myself to read this one slowly because I’m not sure when Kristin Hannah will release another new book, and I wanted to savor it.  It was incredible.  Her writing makes me feel like I am actually in the scene with them.  I cared so much for the main character and I learned so much about the 1960s from this book and a love for the women who worked as nurses in Vietnam.

Remember, if your runs feel crummy and resemble feeling like you have the flu, it’s probably because of the time change.  It always kicks my trash for a few days.

Lifting friends—> At a gym or at home?

-I usually do it at home, but it’s been fun going to the gym with Lauren (and she is keeping me accountable).

How are you feeling waking up with the time change?

Tell me any highlights from your weekend?

I really want a 5k or 10k to sign up for soon… anyone have one coming up?

Beck looks like Knox in the swim photo!
I do my strength workouts at home. I have basic equipment that gets me by.
Yesterday I had a 800s and 400s in my long run that included a bit of wind. That wiped me out. I was in bed before 9pm…which I’m now realizing was getting into bed before 8pm technically. But! I still work up groggy today but can’t complain!
I am on the library wait list for The Women. It will be available in 3 months!! hahahah

He is seriously looking more like him lately. It is so nice to have stuff at home, it takes out any excuses to get in the strength. Speed + long run + wind = exhaustion. I am all about climbing in bed before 8 pm haha. I am jealous that you get to look forward to it, it was so good. Have a beautiful day, Molly!

Unless I am practicing BODYPUMP at home to teach it, I am out on the gym floor lifting. 2 arm days and a leg day each week is my goal (and I pay a virtual trainer to program these workouts for me). I love feeling stronger–even if my approach to lifting is not as “to the plan” as my trainer would like (I’ve gotten sick more this year than ever before, and some weeks insomnia and/or my teaching and subbing schedule has me not going to the gym for MY workouts nearly as often as I should…), but my goal is to feel strong as I keep getting older and to minimize the degree to which I lose muscle tissue as I get older.

I love that you’re lifting along with your running!!!!!

That gnocchi dinner–I think I need ot steal it. It looks good!!!

That Kristin Hannah book is on my list. I just finished reading CIRCE by Margaret Miller, and before that I read MAD HONEY by Jodi Picoult and before that THE FIRST LADIES by Marie Benedict. I’m reading a silly chick lit book right now as a palette cleanser…and then I need to dip into my ginormous pile of to be read books. (Kristin Hannah’s THE FOUR WINDS is in that pile!!!!)! What’s next for you?

Have a great day out there! :)

A virtual trainer is such a good idea! You have had a hard winter, insomnia is no joke! I’m with you on that goal as I age… it’s my biggest motivator now. Oh The Four Winds was incredible. I’m jealous that you haven’t read it yet. I need to finish Boys in the Boat and then I’ll choose a new one… there’s just so many books to read and not enough time. Thank you friend, you too!

I lift at home, but always with a video so it feels like friends. I used to do the gym & I liked that a lot.
Time change is going alright – schedule-wise we got on track right away yesterday, but I am still wondering where my energy is.
I’m interested in this race called the ‘Trail Mix’ race at a park reserve about a half hour away from where I live. They offer 6k, 12.5k, 25k, and 50k… I’d probably do the 12.5k.. even just thinking about it, is giving me motivation to get out more regularly!

A video is A MUST at home. I fully agree. I hope you find that energy sometime today! The ‘Trail Mix’… okay, that sounds SO fun. You’ll have to let me know how it goes! Have a beautiful day, Katie!

Unfortunately, covid really made me stop enjoying some people at the gym, so now I work out from home. I don’t have as many options, but I’m enjoying it and don’t miss the rat-race and rudeness of the gym.
I live in Saskatchewan Canada and we don’t change our clocks. The only thing that the time change affects is our tv programming. Our American channels change times.
You have turned me onto Kristen Hannah books and the couple that i’ve read I’ve really enjoyed and had a hard time finishing because I couldn’t see through my tears.

LUCKY! I really hope that one day we get rid of the time change and that is so interesting about the time change you have for TV! Right?! Get ready for that to happen with this one too. It is incredible. Keep me updated with your favorites and I hope you have a beautiful day, Corry!

Highlight from the weekend: Rocking a 21-miler! I’m trying to take 20 minutes off of my first/only marathon to get a BQ and have been really doubting myself lately. This run was a nice confidence booster, and a reminder that even if I don’t BQ this time around, I’m putting a ton of work into training and should be happy with whatever result comes out of that on race day :)

Wake ups are always rough for a few days; luckily my partner heard my alarm this morning, because I had no memory of waking up and turning it off (I’m usually a light sleeper!) until he nudged me 15 minutes later haha.

Thank you for this reminder. I thought I was maybe coming down with something. Totally dragging on this Monday.
Highlight of the weekend was having a dinner with my cousins. Some of them I have not seen in years!!

Where is that frozen hot chocolate from? Looks delicious!!

I think my nap on Sunday helped me with the time change LOL. I was never a nap person before getting pregnant but being pregnant with my first I’m embracing this time when I can nap. Third trimester tiredness definitely hitting.
I work out at a gym but my dream would be to have a garage gym. I do enjoy the gym environment. I tried to work out at home when gyms were closed during Covid and while I was able to do some workouts, it just wasn’t for me at that time. I missed the squat rack and doing deadlifts. I know a garage gym would definitely be easier as we grow our family. I would still need a gym membership though because I swim too.
Highlight of my weekend was finding out I passed the glucose test woohoo.
