Tuesday Tangents!

 (top, shorts, shoes)

9.18 miles @ 9:11 pace with Jenn. In my opinion, keeping up with her on the dirt counts as a speed workout.

I always make her stop for a break at the top of the ‘three bears’ segment.

1,286 feet of climbing, and I’m proud to say I have not encountered any (live) snakes this summer (knock on wood). I’ve come across a tarantula this summer, but that is it.

The rest of the day was just a normal one. Summer has gone by way too fast.

Let’s get right into some tangents!

*My kids could live off of this from Trader Joe’s… luckily, it’s easy to add some veggies and protein into it too:

*Multitasking PT exercises while I do the girls’ hair.

*It’s incredible how Skye’s “injuries” increase exponentially when I buy the Bluey bandaids.

*Well, now I’m tempted to go for the ‘Desert Double’ medal.

*The last time I did back-to-back races like that was in 2013 with Summer Sanders in Pennsylvania. This was fun.

*My friend eating an Uncrustable at mile 18 of his 30-mile training run for his 100 miler in October. I barely made it to mile 18 on Saturday and kept thinking about how he had another 12 after I finished, which helped me not quit.

*We love Connor Mantz over here in Utah, so when I saw this, it broke my heart… He could have won!

Have any tangents for me today?

Have you come across any snakes on your runs this summer?

Is anyone else training for an ultra these days? Which ones?

TJ’s find you are currently loving?

I saw this hack on Instagram a while back saying that kids love to have character bandaids but they obviously cost more. So this parent just buys regular bandaids and then lets their kiddos put character stickers on them. I thought it was so smart! I wonder if Skye would still have a lot of injuries if you tried that.

THAT IS BRILLIANT. I am totally going to try this. Thanks Maureen and I’ll let you know if it helps. Happy Tuesday!

I love those noodles from TJs too! They taste just like the momofuku ones but way cheaper! I’m also loving the fruit frenzy bars- they are raspberry, lemon, and strawberry. So refreshing for summer.

I will grab the fruit frenzy bars next, thank you Mariah! I’m so excited. Have a beautiful day!

Ahhhh I ran the beach to beacon this weekend! That’s a good 10k to add to your list, Janae! Soooo beautiful.

CONGRATS KATIE!! Okay, I have to put that on my list. I bet it was gorgeous. Happy recovering, friend.

Truly the best treat on the planet… especially when you put them in the fridge. Off to grab more. Hope you have a beautiful day, Danielle!

Hi Janae! I’m at the coast now! It’s so much fun to run on the beach where the sand is wet and packed! I feel so free because I can run wherever I want there isn’t a small path to follow!
We got a frozen chicken curry from trader Joe’s recently and it was way too spicy for me! I couldn’t eat it and it’s not like I don’t eat spicy food. Luckily my husband loved it.
Have a great day!

Oh I am so happy you are getting in some fun beach runs. I want to join you. I have seen that curry there and I was wondering, I think Andrew would love it too but probably too spice for the rest. Thanks Amy, you too!

Supposedly, a distance neighbor of mine announced his pet python got loose. Um, I have been on python watch during my runs now. Would pepper spray work on snakes? Also-why?? Why does anyone have that for a pet??
This weekend was road cycling world champs. The course was 166 miles which took most just over 6 hours. My brain cannot fathom such a thing. …and Tadej won bronze!!
And if St George were offering a DESSERT medal, I would be more inclined to double up.

HIS PET PYTHON IS LOOSE?! This is an emergency. Please drive far away for your runs until it is found. 166 miles… I cannot comprehend either. Go Tadej! Hahaha I’ll add an extra S to your medal:). Happy Tuesday, Molly!

What a finish! It’s fun watch a race end like that. I have heard that race is really good.
So… We’re going to meet and visit a puppy this morning. We’ve decided we’re ready. The one we’re meeting is a little girl, black lab/boxer mix, 3 mos old. We are already talking about names, so if your kids have any suggestions, we’ll take them.
I need to make a Trader Joe’s list of all the things you like! Also, Callie (Peloton) has amazing Trader Joe’s recs too.
Time to puppy proof the house, yay
Have a great day Janae

Hi Janae! This is a total long shot, but I’ll be traveling from California to run the Bear 100 at the end of September. The course runs from Logan, UT to Fish Haven, ID. If you know anyone that would be interested in pacing me in the area (or if you would be interested), I am looking for some nice people to push me through the hard parts (believe pacers are allowed the last 1/3rd of the race). Again, total long shot, but thought I’d try, since I don’t know anyone remotely near the area! Thanks!

OH MY GOODNESS!! This is so so exciting. I will totally ask around. If I didn’t have St. George the next weekend, I would totally do it. I will ask though, a pacer will be crucial for you. You are incredible. Keep me updated with your training, Paula!

Thanks so much, Janae! It should be fun (aaaaand character building)! I promise I’m not a grumpy snappy runner when I’m tired, if that’s important info for folks in your circle 😅. And good luck with St. George!

weird thing, we don’t have a lot of snakes up here (garter snakes mostly) …I don’t have a desire to do ultras, a lot of friends do them, I usually just sign up for relay races through the rockies and then just support…..for me 26.2 is enough..unless it’s an ironman, then it’s just a really long day…
