11 things from our Friday… PS we are in Arizona now!

1.  Friday started with my last run before the race.  4 miles @ an 8:00 pace on the treadmill.  Goodness, I’ve been on the treadmill way too much lately.  BUT this actually might pay off for the race because it will feel so nice to be outside again in the sunshine after so much time on the treadmill and I will cruise.

2.  I have a very good feeling that these are my lucky shoes and that we are going to have a real bonding experience together tomorrow.

3.  Sandwiches are really the way to both of our hearts.

IMG 2427

4.  Just trying to see how many times we can see Santa before the 25th.

IMG 2431

5.  I have trained her well in the proper frosting to cookie ratio—> she added even more of the good stuff after I took this picture.

IMG 2435

6.  My mom prefers to be at the airport 4 hours early;) so we had a lot of time to just hang out.

7.  Brooke got in some strides while I put my feet up.

8.  And then we were off for our 1 hour and 21 minute flight of watching 101 Dalmatians.

IMG 2537

9.  Brooke told me she was packing her bag for the trip… she included her wallet, necklaces, her hair straightener and a panda.  Not bad.

10.  We go on the super cheap flight (you have to pay extra to bring a bag/for a sip of water/to throw something away;) and so I made sure to bring our own peanuts for the plane.

11.  And now Brooke is in heaven with her cousins.

One day to go!  Seriously, thank you guys for all of your good lucks and pep talks… it means the world to me!!

Hi Janae!!! Welcome to Arizona! I think the weather looks in your favor :) I was trying to look up the race course to see if it was possible for me to go cheer you on at the finish line, and it looks difficult to get to the finish like with parking and everything! Booo! I might still try to make it, but if i don’t, good luck and I know you will rock it! :) <3

Last-minute inspiration for you: I work with my local chapter of Girls on the Run, and this morning was their end-of-season 5k. One girl was on crutches and insisted on doing the race anyway. Girlfriend came through the finish line crutching at a speedwalking pace! I was so blown away. You can do anything you decide to do!

Sending fast feet vibes to you, but you’ve got this!!!! You’re going to NAIL it! ?

If it were up to me, I’d ONLY eat frosting. Cookies are just the vessel that gets them to my mouth.

The skies of the backdrop in the photo right before you boarded the airplane is STUNNING.

I woke up this morning and thought of you during my entire run because I thought today was the day! I’m super bummed it’s tomorrow, but I know you’re going to kill it either way! Sending lots of prayers. <3

Reply

Good luck Janae!! I will be thinking of you and saying a few prayers. We all love you no matter what your time is (which I know will be something that starts with a 2 :).

Also I ran by a donut shop on my morning run today (which I only realized because of the wonderful smell) and thought of you!

Reply

Best of luck tomorrow, and go ahead and count people as you pass them because it’s not rude at all, i do it all the time with the exception that i might count 1 if im lucky. Can’t wait to hear all about your sub 3.

What Brooks shoes are those? I love them!!

Reply

Whoohoooo!!! You will do great! I hope my hometown treats you well :)

I got in an 8.5 mile run – I had hoped it would be 9 miles, but with a cold starting, I didn’t feel that great and didn’t push it.

I just wanted to say thanks for being an inspiration! Thanks to you, I’m starting to train for my first marathon (race in late February or March)! I’m still nervous about it, since I’ve only completed one half-marathon before, and I never thought I could do it until I found your blog and starting reading posts and comments. So thank you again!!! We are all rooting for you! :)

Reply

Good luck tomorrow! Got in 6 miles on the treadmill today.

I am so excited the day is here for you! All your hard work will pay off whether you PR or not. Crossing the finish line is where it’s at! Brooke, your mom and your brother’s family will be waiting for you!

I love my new Garmin 220 especially when it tells me I’ve set a new record. 14mi super hilly miles. My friends hate when I map courses b/c they inevitable include hills.

I had a great last long run today before my race next weekend, and then I moved. Now for the seemingly never-ending unpacking…

Janae, even though I’m sure you are in bed by now, resting up for an amazing performance tomorrow, I just wanted to send you one last vote of confidence all the way from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. After reading your blog for so long, one thing I know is that with so many people rooting for you, no matter what time you get, you know you are loved! Rock that race, girl!! We are ALL ( including “virtual friends” like myself) rooting for you. Not because you are an amazing runner but more because you are an amazing person. God Speed :)

My Saturday plans included a run with friends this morning followed by a holiday party/gift exchange. Tuscon is beautiful and I am sure that you will crush that race!
