A new running experience!

Well, this was a new experience.

In the morning I did 7 miles at an 8:34 pace on my normal treadmill and then after lunch I got to try an Alter G —> anti-gravity treadmill for a little bit.  I have wanted to try these treadmills out for a long time.  It was awesome and it felt different than I imagined it would.  I will go more in detail about what it felt like/how it works on Monday (with a video)!

It was Candice’s birthday yesterday and so of course we had to go to ‘our’ spot to celebrate.  I highly recommend bringing a candle and matches for bday froyo… the employees just think you are slightly weird when you do.

When we got back home my good friend from college was in town and came over.  Brooke had her first experience feeding a baby and she took it extremely seriously.

Dinner was a simple one.  I really am starting to turn slightly orange because I eat a sweet potato every day of my life.

PS Looks like I have to move my treat drawer somewhere else because someone is now tall enough to get into it.

After dinner we went to BYU’s Boom Shakalaka event to cheer on my brother-in-law and his dunk team.

He is pretty incredible.  They were doing all sorts of flips and crazy stunts.

Happiest birthday to my brother today!  Wish I was down in Arizona with you celebrating by watching Lost (our favorite show to watch together) and eating donuts (our favorite food to eat together).

I hope you have an awesome weekend filled with running and relaxing (the two most important Rs).

I am thankful we have an alter G at work. It seems like a lot of people have gotten an opportunity to use them lately! Which body weight percentage did you use? I honestly feel a bit conflicted when I use it because I could run for a while and my foot feels fine. I know the moment I would run on full body weight or outdoors for 45 minutes I would have another stress fracture! I’m glad to do something that mimics running though.

I just started physical therapy and they told me I would get to run on an anti-gravity treadmill…I can’t wait! Hmm the most exciting part of my weekend is probably just that I don’t have to go into work today!

The weather has been spectacular so lots of biking and walking and running and crunching the autumn leaves! Tomorrow is a girls’ get together. I already bought the wine :)

I am trying the alter G in a few weeks. They contacted me with my injury to see if I would be interested in using it for recovery. I’m excited to try it and hear what you thought about it. This weekend I’m excited for spin, shopping, acupuncture and rest!

I’ve always had sweet potatoes salty. You know? Like I have it with salt and sauteed vegetables but I’ve never ever had whipped cream or anything fancy on top like chocolate sauce! Very interesting concept and thank you for the idea.

Also, what was it like running antigravity? Do you feel lighter? are your feet on the ground?

Reply

It was awesome! You do feel lighter and your feet still touch the ground! My sweet potato was topped with chicken and BBQ sauce:) I don’t think even I could top it with chocolate haha! Have a great day!

A lot of people are posting about the alter g and I’m definitely curious! Looks very cool. My daughter will have her first dance company performance tomorrow at our town street fair so she is SUPER excited for that. Plus got my 20 miler done this morning so that means good mood for the rest of the weekend :)

Luckily for me, it’s just dinner and maybe a couple of drinks. Nothing crazy.:)

I am actually slightly orange too because I eat carrots every day of my life. The palms of my hands are tinted and my doctor just laughs when he sees it. Good thing it’s reversible! Haha!

I sooo want to try that treadmill!

This is going to sound weird but did your brother serve his mission in Lima, Perú? Elder Anderson? If he did, he served in my family ward and then he was my home teacher when I came to BYU!

Reply

Yes yes yes!!!! That’s him! This is incredible, such a small world!!!!!

I’m playing a concert tonight – which is always fun. I love performing, but the best parts of my weekend are usually just hanging out with my beautiful family!

That treadmill looks interesting! I’ll look forward to read your review. I am on vacation. This weekend in LA. It’s been great staying with friends, going to beach, trying new restaurants, and pretty much relaxing.

Reply

im interested to see your video review of the treadmill. I bet it feels crazy to use but it’s probably really good on your joints! I’m excited for some time to catch up on some books I’ve been reading and also got a day at the pumpkin patch tomorrow with a friend tomorrow!

Reply

Whhaaatt your brother in law looks ridiculously cool in that pic!

This morning my hamstring was feeling tight so I cut my run short. After some stretching and TLC I’m hoping to finally get my run in tonight! ;)

Reply

Best part of my weekend is running the Hat Trick at Runner’s World Festival! Just finished the 5k and 10k – time to eat!

Reply

Very intrigued by that treadmill. The best thing about my weekend is going to be recovering from this dreadful cold I have had all week!

Reply

Girls night with the ladies from my gym tonight! I’m beyond excited! I’m also excited to make the most of this productive mindset I’ve been having the past few days. =)

You and your brother have good taste…..Lost was one of my favorite shows ever.

Favorite part about this weekend….I’m running the Nike Women’s Half in SF tomorrow, can’t wait! It will be my first and probably only time running this event…,it’s so dang expensive! So I plan to soak it all up. Have a great weekend!

Ahh! I’m so intrigued by the anti-gravity treadmill, can’t wait to hear about it!

Brooke’s boots! Too cute!

The best part (so far) has been my twelve mile run thismorning! The weather was gorgeous, so I was able to sleep in since I wasn’t racing against the heat. Now I’m looking forward to a fun girl’s dinner tonight and a lazy lazy Sunday tomorrow!

Reply

Best part so far – 18 mile run that felt so good, pace was really steady and no stomach issues. The Honolulu Marathon is 7 weeks from tomorrow and this was the confidence builder I needed!

We fly to Oahu tomorrow, so I get 2 weeks of heat/humidity training. It’s gonna hurt after running in 52 degrees with low humidity for the past week!

Reply

Oops! Just recounted – 8 weeks from tomorrow is the Honolulu Marathon!

Reply

Best part about my weekend is taking a weekend trip to London to visit family friends! Even though I only live an hour away, I love going to all the touristy things!! That treadmill looks like so much fun!!

Reply

I just finished my first half marathon 4 minutes faster than my goal!!! I am so pumped!

Reply

Ahhhhh huge congrats Laura!!!!! That is amazing!

Reply

That pic of your BIL is awesome! What a cool job! Also when did Brooke become a little girl?! She is so big and so beautiful! I”m excited to chill with my husband and our baby girl this weekend!

Reply

Awesome work on the alter G! What kind of treadmill are you using at home
janae? With dark mornings and evenings approaching I think that after 20 years avoiding treadmill training it’s time I buy one. Weekend plans are long run training tomorrow, playing with my baby today!

Reply

I think refueling is an important weekend R! :) While I eat delicious taco soup and think about where I want to eat tonight for dinner, hehe.

Reply

I have been eating sweet potatoes ALL THE TIME lately. Like at least one a day but usually 2.
I used an alter-G 3 years ago when I was starting to run again after hip surgery and I loved it! I could totally see how it is perfect for runners coming back from an injury or for runners who want to train harder with less risk of injury.

Reply

The first best part of my weekend is surviving the Runner’s World Five and Dime this morning. I felt I was channeling you because I brought Swedish Fish along on the 10k for fuel. :-)
The Second best part is tomorrow I am going to the NY sheep and wool festival which I have wanted to do for a while.

Reply

Way to go today!!!! That makes me so happy that you brought Swedish fish!

Reply

Getting my hair done! I always feel so pretty.

Also church.

Have a great weekend.,

Me! I ran alter G during my peroneal tendinitis bout. I think it’s way better than pool running IMHO.

Reply

I think the alter G treadmill looks really cool – I would love to try it out!

My weekend is mostly relaxing and making the most of my time with my mom while she is in town. Also getting our townhouse ready to put up for sale, which is less fun.

Reply

That sweet potato combo looks awesome!!

Reply

Why does Brooke somehow look like she’s like 5 in that picture with her reaching into the drawer!?! They grow up so fast ;)

Reply

My weekend is full of fueling and resting up today for my very first marathon tomorrow. I am such a huge mix of anxious, excited, nervous, and just wanting it to start already! Still have a few more hours to wait considering it doesn’t start until 8 am haha. Send me some speedy thoughts Janae!

Reply

Ahhhhh good luck Tara!!!! You are going to rock the marathon! Go celebrate your training!
