Man, I have a lot of pictures for you.

When I first decided to go to Thailand a few months ago it was because I thought that it would be really healing for me to come here.

I was 100% right, I should really listen to myself more often.

Traveling is good for the soul.

Cotton candy is good for the soul too.

Totally normal to see this as you are driving along the road:

I can’t stop.

After we went to church on Sunday (ummm going to church in a different country is awesome!) we drove about an hour to explore Ayutthaya (the first capital of Thailand).  The city was destroyed in 1767 by the Burmese army and we visited the ruins of the temples.

We went down a ton of stairs to the bottom of one of the temples.  It was a tiny bit scary and it felt like an oven.

Wishing well.

So beautiful.

IMG 0385

The outdoor markets are one of my favorite things about Thailand so far.

IMG 0407

Mango sticky rice, will you marry me?

IMG 0406

I actually have no idea what was in the bottom of this and I am okay with that.

The meal I could live off of.

DDDDDOOOONNNNNUUUUUTTTTTSSSSS

And the sunset that made my heart melt.  No filter/no altering…. this is exactly what my eyeballs saw:

I hope your Monday is off to a great start!

beautiful sunset! Such a great way to heal….traveling is one of my favorite things as well. There’s something about having the ability/opportunity to travel that makes me feel so privileged and grateful at the same time. I cherish every minute I can explore some place new. Summers in the country or hikes out west…hopefully I’ll get some international travel in my life soon…have a super duper rest of trip. And who knew about the cotton candy?! Cool!

Wow everything looks amazing. Elephants are the coolest animals, cant beleive the are right there in the road. Those ruins looked really cool, but yeah the temple did look kind of creepy. Food looks delicious! What an amazing sunset, I’m sure the picture didnt do it justice but still incredible.

Wow, everything looks amazing! I have heard the outdoor markets are the best, especially the night time ones.

As you adjust to the temperatures, do you think you’ll find a time to go running outdoors? I know it must be so hot/muggy but it seems like such a beautiful place to run!

How beautiful. Love the elephants. I don’t think I could stay away from them.

I would be able to stay away from the elephants either. I could spend the whole day at the zoo just watching them, kids go crazy wanting to see other animals lol.

Thailand looks so beautiful I hope you’re having a wonderful time!

glad you listened to your heart, as well. i find travel to be incredibly therapeutic and cathartic. and religious ceremonies in other countries? even MORE cathartic, as you confront your own spirituality despite language barriers. hope you are experiencing a world of peace. [& adventure– go, girl!!!] xx

Those ruins are beautiful. I am definitely feeling the traveling itch lately. My ex never takes the children, so I would have to take them along. I am ok with that. Maybe Utah to visit my sister? You’re pictures of the mountains there are tempting me.

Reply

Tons of places to visit with the kids. We take our three everywhere, a bit hectic but great family memories and we always have a good time.

You have no idea how much I am coveting this trip. Everything looks amazing! The places, the sunset, the food, THE FOOD. I am seriously drooling. I think the drink was a boba tea. You make me miss Thailand! I loved it there – it’s so soothing (and busy) at the same time. I loved the street food too. Their fruit does taste like candy. I never really knew what I was eating, but that’s okay. I never got sick and liked virtually all the food.

Reply

Beautiful!! Thailand is on my bucket list. That and riding on an elephant. Maybe I could ride on an elephant in Thailand. Kill two birds with one stone.

I’m so glad you’re having a wonderful time. As for that drink with the big straw, it looks like bubble/boba tea. If they were balls at the bottom, then they were tapioca balls. My favorite flavor is taro. Give it a try if you get a chance. Milk tea heaven. I’m craving one now.

Reply

ahhhh I am so jealous, I want to be there right now!!! Haha thank you for taking us on this trip with you – virtually!!! You’re the best!! :D

Please avoid all elephant activity in Thailand, see here in these videos why;

There are many national parks across whole Thailand where elephants can be seen in wild, like in Khao Yai, Kaeng Krachan, Kui Buri national parks;

.. or try Elephant Nature Park, the only place where abondoned or sick elephants are truly taken care of and be safe;
