My personal assistant.

My older niece and nephew decided that they should still go to school while I am here visiting but Curly doesn’t have anywhere to be and has become my little personal assistant during the day.

She helps me get Brooke ready in the morning.

and she takes 100’s of pictures of Brooke for me each day.  I am thinking she might fit in my suitcase.

After I did my 8 minute abs video I tried out 8 minute arms (first time trying the arms one and it was pretty good but I have a hard time believing he just uses soup cans to get his ginormous muscles).  PS their workout outfits in this one are even cooler than the abs one.

Then my sister and I went on a very very easy run.  It was the best because we were able to just talk the entire time about everything.   I was actually really nervous going into today’s run that my IT Band would be a little tight after doing some faster miles yesterday but it felt great.  Turns out getting back into running conservatively is a good idea after an injury.

Too bad the scenery for our run was so awful;)

IMG 9110

We got home and my mom took me to lunch.  In my running clothes.  That is how much she loves me, she is not afraid to be seen in public with me when I look the way I do after a run.

If you are EVER in Utah.  I don’t care if you are 4 hours away from this restaurant, you have to drive to Guru’s in Provo.

I dream about these sweet potato fries.  I don’t even really like sweet potato fries but these are actually the best things you will ever eat.

IMG 9114

With a delicious chicken, apple, grape, bleu cheese and walnut salad.

IMG 9118

Since my mom and I don’t get to see each other very often we have to really go full out when we do and eat ice cream together as much as possible.

3 more months Brooke until you get to taste the amazingness of ice cream.

I was supposed to run a half tomorrow but my husband and I had scheduling miscommunication so instead I’m headed to the coast with a friend and there just happens to be a FULL marathon there…I think I’m going to sign up even though I’m not exactly ready for it :)!

Reply

Good Luck!

Reply

That is a sign from above. You are going to do awesome and your husband is going to be jealous :)
PS- Curly can so fit in your suitcase
PPSS- How does someone NOT like sweet potato fries?

Sweet potato fries are the bomb!

Totally random and not that fun… Now that joe hs switching jobs and has two weeks off we are deciding if we want to take a trip to Cancun or get new furniture. I kind I’d want new furniture and that’s how I know I’m getting old ha!

Reply

Elizabeth,

I’d vote for new furniture.

My one and only time in Cancun came at the end of a trip to Mexico with a group of middle schoolers (I was one of the teacher chaperones). While the beach was gorgeous and the kids were well behaved, I’d rather have something I could use on a regular basis.

Best to your hub on the new job.

Reply

I’d be all over the vacation…creating memories is what life is all about!

Reply

Ahhhhh!!!! Take the vacation! Your kid and future kids are still little and will ruin your furniture! Wait till they are old and then get good furniture…until then spend $ on fun!

Reply

I’m sure you look amazing after you workout! You probably wake up gorgeous like in the movies. Random fact: I have over 200 lip glosses.

I’m trying to pack for a month in Germany visiting one of my BFFs. I’ve barely worked out in two days and feel like a lazy slob. Grey’s Anatomy annoys the crap out of me…….yet I continue to watch it. The weather is gorgeous today, and I’m packing. I mean, packing for a good reason, but packing for a month is never quality entertainment. Girls’ night tonight — Roja Mexican Grille in downtown Omaha followed by The Great Gatsby.

Reply

A month in Germany! So jealous! Hope you get to spend some time in the Black Forest region. It’s fabulous! Check out the Friedrichsbad spa in Baden Baden if you have a chance. It’s an experience you’ll never forget. And try the flammkuchen. Delicious!

Does a baby need to be a year old before they can have ice cream? I didn’t know! Something random about my day? All day was spent in the library! Woohoo partayyyyy ;)

Reply

I would be the worst mother… I’d be sooooo tempted to let Brooke have a little lick of ice cream!

I’ve been blogging consistently for about three months and today was the first day that I told anyone on Facebook. I’m feeling super vulnerable because I’m not very confident in my blogging “skills.” I’ve just been thinking a lot about what my friends and family will think of my blog.

Also, all your Utah posts are getting me super excited for the Wasatch Back Ragnar!

Reply

I’ve been blogging for years, but just recently started a running blog, and I haven’t told anyone about it except my husband. I’m super nervous about sharing it with Facebook and my fam. I’ll probably wait a few months, too. I totally understand how you feel!

Reply

What’s your blog? I’d very much like to follow you. I love reading a whole variety of blogs.

Reply

No one I know knows about my blog either! It’s my personal little life… I don’t know if I want them to know!

geez – I didn’t realize the link on my name wasn’t working!! I think I fixed it, but, just in case, my blog is located at http://www.merrymarathoner.com

I hope you stop by Lindsey, I’d love to see your comments/suggestions!

Here is something really random….

Boss at lunch today stated he used to wear a Beret in late 70’s/early 80’s and at times worn this fashionable head piece while also wearing bell bottoms that were super wide.

My coworkers and I cracked up laughing for a good 3 minutes :)

Reply

I wish I were you running-wise today. That view is BREATHTAKING!

I am childless and therefore not entirely knowledgable on the subject but I am absolutely stunned that doctors would even keep the heavenly dish of ice cream away from babies (bah, who listens to doctors anyway – must have something to do with the sugar content?).

I am glad I am not a Brooke is Brooke and I am me for the simple fact that I put ice cream (Ben & Jerry’s Americone Dream) in my smoothie this morning as opposed to healthy yogurt and then I ate a 1/4 pint of ice cream this morning for my 2nd breakfast…yes, for my second breakfast. My choices were wise life choices, if I do say so myself! ;)

Now I need to go run like Usain Bolt for at least a couple of miles….

Reply

Other than people probably thinking I’m completely out of my mind with the above post and all the grammatical errors, I have one more thought…

Curly and Brooke are totally going to become BFF’s. My cousin, Kristine is 6 years older than me but she’s the one who helped take care of me on family vacations when I was little. We are as close as sisters today! Last year we even went on a trip of a lifetime together. We went to Italy and both came out alive much to the surprise of our parents!!

Reply

Random Reality- I was thrilled to be able to wash and hang dry clothes outside this morning! I missed that reality while we’ve been traveling (Seattle and St. George) during the past 2 weeks.

Baby clothes drying in the Wasatch Mountain air equals happiness to me.

Reply

I don’t have a clothes line outside, but your post reminds me that this winter I thought I needed to get one. Hopefully make it to the store soon.

Reply

Im Mexican and today is mothers day down there.. so I get to celebrate all weekend :) yay!

Reply

That view is incredible! I’m not looking into moving to Utah.

Reply

Hmm something random…I am so excited about getting to watch a track meet today instead of doing the mountain of laundry that is sitting at home! That is what Sunday is for!!

Reply

Earlier today I was remembering when you did that half marathon before you found out you were pregnant but you felt yucky and then it all made sense. Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago! I ran the SLC half then found out a week later that I’m pregnant again!

Reply

Ahhhhhhh no way!!!!! Huge congrats!!!! Keep me updated!!! So happy for you!

Reply

Something random. Hmm. I’m really craving a good thunderstorm. We haven’t had a really good rain yet, and everything is still so dusty, dull, and dead after winter – we need a lot of water to bring things back to life. And I kind of love sitting in the window and watching the lightning :)

Reply

I have 19 miles planned for tomorrow, and I’m a little worried I’m going to get really bored because I’m doing an out and back that I’ve done many times before. Will you come run with me so we can chat? I live in Alaska, we’ll probably see at least one moose (and maybe a black bear)!

Reply

I’m going to have Hibachi for dinner tonight!!

Lucky!

Today marks one week until I am done with all of my finals for the semester…I’ve got 4 exams over the next 7 days and I am VERY stressed out and need some great entertainment to keep me sane, so I hope you post lots of pictures of Brooke doing silly things because those are my favorite pictures on your blog and they always make me smile :)

My first half marathon is on May 25! I’m excited and nervous but mostly excited, especially about my super cute new bright-as-can-be running outfit.

A have a Twitter account too but find it pretty useless. :(

I have not been doing the abs every day, but at least 3 to 4 times a week and I agree. I am noticing a difference too.

I just made and ate kale chips and I put siracha on them and now my nose is running!

Hmmm, something random… I’m about to take my sports law final but rather than studying for it I’m reading blogs? Ha. Don’t worry, I’m taking it Pass/Fail. Here’s hoping I pass.

My long run was supposed to be 13 miles today – I barely managed 3 and then just ran out of gas :-( Very upset because my first half marathon is only two weeks away. I’m going to give it another go on the treadmill tonight. Boo.

At work, my desk is big and heavy and one side is up against a wall with a small gap. Well, I accidentally dropped my VS lip gloss and it fell in that gap!!! AHHHH! I KNOW!! Luckily, I found a couple guys in our Maintenance Dept. that cared enough about my plight (“It’s my VERY FAVORITE lip gloss!!! Wah!!!) that thy came to help.

Yadda, yadda, yadda…

My lips are shiny again.

The end.

My 6 year old daughter is my personal assistant, and she also likes to consider herself her brother’s other mother. She’s two years older than him, but she wants to cut up his pancakes and get him dressed and boss him around. :) I tried to wait until she was a year old to give her ice cream, but my sneaky mom gave her a taste early and that’s a thing that cannot be undone!!!

Reply

My random thing for the day is that I just got braces. So I am very jealous of you eating delicious salads with yummy nuts because I can’t chew! Wah!!! When I come to SFO for the Nike Marathon in October, you have to take me to your favourite yogurt store!! :)

Reply

I found a make up kit today that I’ve had for awhile, but somehow forgot about. I got 4 new things of lip gloss and eye liner. I am happy about this!

Reply

Looks like a delicious meal, esp. the sweet potato fries!

Random: I am on a train to DC and all I want to eat is Swedish Fish. I have been craving them all the time lately and carry a bag wherever I go, should an urge come on. I am really wondering what they put in these things (besides sugar) to make them so addictive!

Reply

My day was spent taking my comprehensive exams to finish my Master’s degree. I’m exhausted and so happy to be done. Now I can get back to my normal life. I’m going on a run to celebrate first thing in the morning. Those sweet potato fries look to die for!

Reply

Why did you not tell me about those sweet potato fries when I was there?!! I need them.

Random? I had the day off from my regular job today so I subbed in a third grade class. Mercy. They wore me out.

Reply

I’m going running for the first time in 6 days tomorrow. It will be an easy run, however, since I’m still trying to allow enough time for post-half recovery. I started training too soon after my last race and I don’t want to make the same mistake.

Also, I might have delicious nachos for supper. Woot!

Reply

Learning a ton from these neat arlistec.

Hmmm…well, since you asked for random and I don’t normally post, just read (fanatically) I thought posting would be random of me! ;)

I fell asleep in a pink floyd concert once. I also like hot sauce and sour cream on my eggs. Ok, maybe that’s a bit too random. Running a 5K tomorrow morning!

Random: I got a super cool melon slicer from Sam’s Club..it’s like an apple corer but can cut a melon up to 15 lbs into wedges. Another random, I had a really rough night/day so the only place I went today was the grocery store. The rest of the day was spent sleeping and it felt amazing.

Reply

We’re taking a CHEESE class tonight! That’s random.

Random factoid for the day: I am going to sign up for the RNR San Jose race on Monday! My sister lives in Sacramento so we are going to meet up in San Jose and have a fun weekend. Might even get my mom to come along too! Kind of a logistical nightmare since my sis is in CA, I’m in UT, and my mom is in MT, but we’ll make it work.

Reply

Because of you, I am hooked on 8 minutes abs! I will definitely try the arms one!

Reply

That makes me so happy!

Reply

You got me hooked on the 8 minute abs- I’ve been doing it everyday for about two months now. I did the arms the other day too & couldn’t stop laughing at those HOT outfits ;) & I TOTALLY agree- there is NO way those exercises are going to get you those muscles featured in the video. Haha! I found it was a good warm up to a real arm workout though.
And GIRLLLL that 8 minute buns workout you mentioned before by the same guy- OWWWWWWWWW. Buns were on FIRE. Especially because of those pulses

Reply

I bought Easter candy at the store today. Large sized plastic eggs filled with two “fun sized” bags of plain M&M’s. How much did two fun sized bags cost? 5 cents. YUP! I picked up twenty eggs. Best dollar I spent all year. :D

Reply

If you want an AWESOME 8 minute arm video, goodle Tracy Anderson 8 minute arms. I do it every day and even after 2 weeks my arms still BURN so bad each time! Its pretty killer!

Mmm, everything you ate looks amazing!!
