DATE night… the best Friday night.

Swings are to Brooke as Swedish Fish are to Janae.  I make that same face when I open a fresh new bag of them.

The girls weren’t so happy when we made them get off the swings and go for a walk.

IMG 8520

Our night somehow evolved from doing laundry at home and eating whatever food was in our freezer into going out for a date.   I am happy about that.

We had heard amazing things about Dia De Pesca and it lived up to our expectations.

DSC 0856

Free chips and salsa (for signing up for their app which means I will probably get texts from them every day from now on… worth it).

DSC 0851

Billy and I both have a hard time getting anything other than fish tacos if they are offered at a restaurant.  Two halibut tacos with rice and beans in the back.  Second best fish tacos I have ever had in my life.  First place was HERE!

DSC 0855

After dinner we went to another part of town to walk around and use the best gift certificates imaginable.  She did not want to leave the palm tree.

DSC 0863

Coldstone.  I got the sweet cream with fudge, caramel, brownie and cookie dough.   I am pretty sure this ice cream alone gave me three cavities.

DSC 0866

We were still too full from dinner so we took them home and put them in the freezer and watched HGTV until we were hungry again…. mine was amazing.  It isn’t okay to go to Coldstone and not get one of their chocolate dipped waffle cones.

I don’t like fish tacos at all. Actually, I’ve never had a fish taco because I don’t like fish all that much. We went to dinner at Melthouse Bistro on Friday so we will call that our last date night. Melthouse is devoted to grilled cheese sandwiches. Yum!

Oh my gosh, Brooke is just the cutest! Enjoy your run this morning:-)
We went to Duluth and spent the night for our last date–it was marvelous. Our last date night ‘out’ was over a year ago….we were loooong overdue.

Haha the Swedish fish analogy. That’s how I feel. Your Coldstone creation is what I get every time. Birthday cake or something, right?
HAVE A GREAT RUN TODAY!! I hope it gives you the same face as the Swedish fish do ;)

Reply

I love coldstones cake batter with cookie dough! We went all the time in college. Your combo looks pretty amazing too :-) have a great run today!!!

Reply

I am not a coldstone girl… I keep it fresh with my froyo love.
Hope your run goes well!!

Reply

I love coldstone! Hubby and I usually split the churro thing they have I have no clue what it is called. I don’t like any kind of seafood so I have never had a fish taco, but I love any other kind of taco!

Reply

Just so happy someone else is up at 0500 minus us crazy 911 dispatchers! She’s just precious.

Reply

I love coldstone! The nearest one is an hour away, though, so I don’t usually get it. I’m a simple girl with vanilla and cookie dough mix in. Delicious! I didn’t have any dessert last night, because we went out to dinner! :) Your date night looks fabulous! Have a great run today!

Reply

I’m all about cold stone cake batter. Birthday remix is my absolute fav :) And I’m like you and Billy, if fish tacos are on the menu I’m ordering them.

Reply

Omg I have not been to Coldstone since my freshman year of college! (like 8 years ago???) that looks so good! And I’m pretty sure I’d make that face on a swing too! (or opening a bag of Swedish fish).

Reply

I’ve never been to cold stone ….we only have dairy queen here….fish tacos are amazing ….last date night was a month in Italy last august so we are long overdue.

Reply

Mmmmmm your dinner & dessert look delicious! So jealous! :)

Reply

Who doesn’t love to swing? But I’m pretty sure I don’t look that adorable when I do :)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Brooke “pout” before-she is just too cute! I’ve never had a fish taco, Cold Stone, or Swedish fish-what is wrong with me??? I’m on day 6 of a 7 day sugar detox and I didn’t even groan at that picture of ice cream! #proud #success #stillwantdarkchocolate

I went on a date with Mr. B last night! We went to one of our usual places, just a local bar/grille. They had fish tacos on the menu, but I couldn’t resist the chicken avocado melt. Those chips and salsa look delicious!!!

Reply

My husband and I just got back from vacation, which was practically a week-long date night :) We were in Florida and I had fish tacos once when we were there–they were made with mahi mahi and were amazing!

Reply

TODAY is the DAY!! Thinking of you, and hoping for a wonderful run!! :)
We NEED to live closer. I really want to go to the park with you & B! G is jealous just looking at the pictures ;)

Looks like you guys had fun on your date night.

Last night for dessert I had Skor ice cream. It was pretty tasty.

Reply

Mmm Coldstone is sooooo tasty!! What a great gift that was! The fish tacos look good too. I haven’t every tried one…they aren’t as common here in the Midwest. Here, it’s all about BEEF. LOL

Reply

I had Coldstone once, when I was on a Spring Break trip to California in college. That was before I developed my nut allergies. Now I can’t have it, because they can’t make any combos nut-free. Sad.

My last date was to the Point Defiance zoo near Seattle with my boyfriend. I saw walruses for the first time in my life and made friends with a curious puffin. It was fun!

Reply

I always get the birthday cake remix at coldstone. I go there every time thinking I’ll get something different but low and behild, I get the same thing. Mmm.

Reply

Must….go….to…..Coldstone! I love their Cake Batter with rainbow sprinkles and caramel!

Reply

Fish Tacos are my favourite. My best ever ones were in this back street place in Cabo – if ever you go, I’ll send you walking directions because i don’t know the name. But they were spectacular!

Reply

I always get the peanut butter and chocolate and cold stone, with brownies thrown in. Our last date night we went to The Skillet here in Seattle and I had the most amazing roasted brussel sprouts that now haunt my dreams

Reply

Of course I have been to Coldstone! It is sooo good! I always get vanilla or something close to vanilla with oreos. Just thinking about it makes me want some :)

I am also a huge fish taco fan! I keep trying to make my fiance try it!

Reply

Yuummm! Love Cold Stone! Their sweet cream is very good, as is I believe their birthday cake and their strawberry. I went through a phase where I only got strawberry with Reese’s cups. I don’t care about mixing, I just get what I want :)
I did have a bite of my roommate’s frozen yogurt shake with M&Ms in it. It was pretty good!

Reply

That’s almost the exact thing I get at Coldstone! And I agree, a dipped waffle bowl is definitely a must ;) Good luck on your run today!!!

Reply

YUM! I love Coldstone! I usually get the mint chocolate chip specialty ice cream. AMAZING!!!

Reply

oh man those tacos look amazing!! I can never get good fish tacos where I live sadly. Did you like the sinless sweet cream from coldstone? I occasionally go to coldstone, and the last time I got the sinless one and really wanted to like it but the taste was off to me. Yours looks amazing though with that cone!

Reply

Today is your run day, yayyy! I hope your IT band is okay. Fingers crossed!

Coldstone is amazing, I like to get bubblegum ice cream with gummy bears, chocolate chips, and the sprinkle waffle cone/bowl that you have. Basically I’m 28 going on 5 years old.. lol.

Reply

Yum! I can’t get enough of fish tacos lately either. I am very jealous of all the amazing Mexican places you go too.

I bought tiramisu cake last night, but was also too full from dinner. Maybe Ill eat it for breakfast?!? :)

Reply

Ooh, you’re making me wish I lived in Cali so I could get some of the awesome Mexican food that’s omnipresent there. Yum! I had a little bit of a date night last night–my fiance came with me to pick up my packet for the Shamrock Shuffle and we had dinner in downtown Chicago. Nothing fancy, but we got some good views of the skyline.

Reply

1. I’ve never had a fish taco before… but it sounds delicious!
2. I would never want to leave the swings or that palm tree either!! :)
3. Coldstone ice cream…. yum yum yum!! I’m a cheapskate so I always get the smallest cheapest one, but I get the cake batter with graham crackers…. so good :)
4. I hope your run today goes well! :) Can’t wait to hear about it!

My husband and my aunt are running as we speak on the AR 50 miler foot race! She lives near you in the Bay Area! Have you ever thought about running 50 miles? :)

Reply

It’s been so long since I’ve been there, I think almost 4 years. I got vanilla with something in it lol I’m shocked I don’t remember!
We had froyo before out dinner :) It was amazing as always!
Not a fish taco fan, I wish I was though!!!
Togos, then did some shoppimg, then got some Froyo :) Perfect for us!

Reply

Fun date night! I love Coldstone. I always get cake batter ice cream with cake and brownie pieces mixed in. It is delicious.

We had a date breakfast this morning and this local donut place I wanted to try. I had a Boston Cream Pie donut and a Chocolate Creme Pie donut. With chocolate milk. Talk about a sugar rush! ;)

Reply

I haven’t been to Coldstone’s for a long time. I’m sure I got mint chocolate ice cream, though. Is there any other kind? My friend makes the best fish tacos! When she made them for us , it was the first time I had ever tried them.

Please don’t be disappointed with me, but I didn’t have dessert last night. :-(

Reply

I don’t go to Coldstone very often because Fro-yo is usually my first choice.

Fish tacos are delicious but my FAVORITE go-to is SHRIMP tacos! Can’t pass them up.

My friday night dessert was a TJ’s ice cream sandwich.

Our last date night was at Saltgrass, but I’m hoping this week I can’ convince him to take me out for a delicious juicy burger!

Reply

I love fish tacos, but I really like pork too. It’s hard to choose. And shrimp. And…

Reply

I’m a frozen yogurt person over Coldstone, and since the hub is present at a conference this weekend in California- the little girl and I are going to check out Cherry Berry later today.

Oh, and the last mother-daughter date was yesterday to a thrift store. We had a challenge to complete, and it was wonderful!

Reply

Mmm I LOVE Coldstone! My favorite is sweet cream with cookie dough. Pretty simple, but amazes me every single time. And yes, their waffle bowls are the best! Glad you guys had a nice date night!

Reply

I ALWAYS get a chocolate sprinkle cone too!

Reply

I love, LOVE fish tacos. If they are on the menu, I will order them!

Reply

I have some sort of dessert most nights! Last night I ate at a friend’s and we had chocolate muffin cheesecake. So delicious!

Reply

I’ve never tried fish tacos! I’d probably like them since I love seafood! ;)

Reply

I always get some sort of mint chocolate chip ice cream anywhere I go, so that’s my usual at Coldstone! Although, the last time I went was my birthday and we definitely don’t go often enough! ;) I LOVE fish tacos, too, so now I need to get some of those asap!

xo

Reply

Yum! I love that fish taco place. I used to see it a lot and think it was so tacky with all the dinosaur deco (do they still have that?). Then when I worked in a doctor’s office somewhere behind there, I went there at least one every other month with my coworker.

Reply

Coldstone looks so good! My friends and I made banana bread last night and it (actually) turned out delicious!

Reply

I have to admit I can’t stomach ice cream anymore. The year before we got engaged I used it eat a MASSIVE bowl right before bed EVERY night. I have some adversion to it now. I know, I’m crazy. But give me a chocolate cookie any day! Hope the race went well! Ran my first half marathon ever today and actually wasn’t that far behind the hubs!

Reply

Ha the post-swing photo makes me laugh!!

I LOOVVEEE Coldstone. I haven’t been in ages, though! I always got the coffee ice cream mixed with Reeses PB Cups. Yum!!!!

Reply

I LOVE the apple pie a la mode at Coldstone!! I haven’t been to Coldstone in YEARS!!!

Reply

I loooove ice cream and I would go to Coldstone everyday if I could. I like to get the mud pie mojo or anything with Oreos :-).

Fish tacos…yes please!

Our last date night was at the Texas Roadhouse…best rolls ever.

Reply

I haven’t been to Coldstone in FOREVER! I usually get their mint brownie ice cream creation… yummy yummy yummy! I have dessert every day, and last night I had some ice cream. I went on a nice walk on my last date with the guy I was out with. Before that, I met someone downtown for drinks. Exciting.

Reply

I love Coldstone! I always get the cake batter with rainbow sprinkles in a waffle cone.

No dessert last night. I stopped to get candy on my way home from my trail run, and they weren’t accepting bills above $1 and $5, so I left empty-handed. :-O

We went to Outback Steakhouse for steak and lobster tails. Oh my, I think I know where we are headed for dinner. :-)

Reply

I’ve been to Coldstone a few times. I always end up getting vanilla or strawberry ice cream with gummy bears in it, and then I get mad that the gummy bears are too hard to eat. I need to be a little more creative with all of the choices they have!

I had some peeps :)

Fish tacos- not so much. Shrimp tacos- bring em on! Yum!

I went out to Red Lobster with my husband. Today we have a date to go see Jurassic Park 3D when he gets off from work!

Reply

I worked at Coldstone in high school! My boyfriend loved that my hair smelled like waffle cones after I got off work :)
Dessert last night was a mini-doughnut at Avila Beach’s Farmers Market and a most delicious sugar cookie from Madonna Inn. Oh and then hot chocolate when I accidentally locked my mom’s keys in her car!

Reply

I just finished my long run, and now I am craving Cold Stone & Swedish Fish!

Reply

We had the BEST dessert ever last night!!! Hot Haupia (coconut) Sundae with Minted Tropical Fruit Salsa. I’m not kidding when I say I have NEVER tasted anything like it. I wanted to lick the bowl and the plate! (If you ever come to Oahu, you must visit Angelo Pietro, Italian and Japanese food – http://www.angelopietro.com/index.html)

Got up and ran a half marathon today – I’m sure the sundae worked some magic!

Reply

Never been to Coldstone… it needs to happen! Dessert last night was cowpies. YUM!! Never had fish tacos either but that is happening sometime soon! Brooke is just so cute, omg.

Reply

It’s my life mission to find the best fish tacos. So far the best I’ve ever had (4 times in 1 vacation even…) were from Coconut’s Fish Cafe on Maui. http://coconutsfishcafe.com/

Reply

Can’t blame Brook–those trees are pretty cool. And I haven’t had Cold Stone in AGES. So. Delicious. I used to get either cake batter or just vanilla ice cream and throw in a bunch of chocolate or cookie-type toppings. OR, I’d choose one of their awesome combos. So many possibilities.

Reply

I would agree! A Coldstone visit isn’t a TRUE visit unless you have the chocolate and sprinkle cone with your ice cream. I just posted about this. But typically, I’m a plain jane and will just get one ice cream flavor with sprinkles in the waffle cone.

I swear we think way too much alike when it comes to food!

Reply

Mmm, Coldstone! I always get the Founder’s Favorite Creation. Sweet Cream ice cream with fudge, caramel, brownie and pecans. Heaven in a cup.

Last night for dessert I had Belfonte Birthday Cake Ice Cream. Love!

Date? What’s that?…

Reply

Mmmmm fresh chips & salsa! Yumm.

I like Coldstone, but it’s not my fave, actually. And I LOVE ice cream!

Reply

Coldstone is VERY good. I agree about their chocolate dipped waffle cones. Perfection.
Fish tacos at Criollo in downtown Flagstaff are sooo good!

Reply

ColdStone is pretty awesome. I usually get the cake batter ice cream with vanilla cake pieces and rainbow sprinkles mixed in. Yummm! I love me some ice cream, but I have been way more into froyo these days. I still do a similar combo, only it’s lower in fat!

Reply

Coldstone has the best ice cream ever! It’s so good, but SO bad for you! I can remember going there on a date and spending $14 on two small things of ice cream!
:) It was worth it though.

Reply

Clearly you need to head up to Palo Alto for Sancho’s fish tacos. There is NO better fish taco that I’ve ever had, anywhere, anytime, ever.

Reply

We went out for a date on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary, it was so much fun.

The last dessert I ate was a shared chocolate covered peanut butter bomb, with Mike for his birthday yesterday. SO delicious!

Reply

Yep, I have a Coldstone within walking dustance from where I work!! Too bad I’m not much of a sweets person – bleh! The rare occasions that I do go, I make sure to get oppings that involve chocolate and pb though!

You bet I’m a fish taco fan… I love my seafood! :)

Our last date was Friday night and we went to Unos! Yay for coupons & yummy salmon entrees!! Not too fancy but Unos has sentimental value for the hubby and I… he proposed to me nearby an Unos (at the spot where we had our first date).

I was in Key West last year for a wedding and had the best fish taco of my life at this square tacos place…Amigos. (I just had to google it. I remember the deliciousness not the name!) They make the tortillas fresh. Plus, you get legit Coca Cola in a glass bottle. You’re basically sitting outside because there aren’t walls to the building. It was heaven. Now I’m drooling.

Yum what a delicious-looking date night!
