Running Comebacks and You Look SO Tired.

Coming off of the holiday 3-day weekend means that my students are always extra excited to come to school after 3 days of sleeping in and playing video games.  The best part was that they kept on telling me, “Mrs. Jacobs…you look SO SO tired.”  Don’t you love it when people say that:)  Luckily I was feeling a lot better Tuesday and after work I took it to the treadmill so that I could easily jump off if I wasn’t feeling so hot.

IMG 0124

Billy is a lucky man to come home to the above image of a sweaty (somewhat stinky), inside out t-shirt wearing wife.   Gotta love carpet that continues half-way up the wall.

Why was I wearing headphones on my own treadmill?  Because my BIL (who is staying with us for a little while) was in the next room and I didn’t want him to hear me watching The Bachelor because that is embarrassing.  I am more than willing to admit it to the internet that I like all of this weird girl drama but I don’t want my family to know:)  Oh wait, they read this too.

PS that white fan is the answer to my prayers.

———————————–

Billy cooked up some grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.  We are kind of in a ‘use cheese for every meal’ mood because we just bought a HUGE bag of shredded mozzarella cheese from Costco.  I think we should have maybe bought some fruit while we were at costco too, that bowl of fruit is quite pathetic.

IMG 0125

We separate the cheese into little baggies and freeze them.  At the rate we are going at this time around, there is no point to this method because the 6 lb bag will be gone my next Monday.

———————————–

I know this was so a million months ago but I received this finisher certificate from the NY marathon yesterday.  I am still a little proud of myself for getting there and overcoming a trillion injuries.  It was almost a year ago when the pain in my legs started and today I am back to running about 6 days a week with zero pain.

IMG 0132

If you are injured right now take the time to fully recover and you will be back in no time! HERE is a great article from runnersworld.com about making a comeback to running.  The article is written by BYU’s head cross-country coach.

———————————–

Anyone going to be running NYCM 2012?

-I really want to, better start saving now:)

Bachelor lovers:  who is your guess of being in the top 3 at the end?  Are you a Ben fan?

-I forget their names but I think the model girl, the girl that got the first impression rose and the blonde one that climbed the bridge.  Thank goodness the blogger girl is gone.  Ben is really nice but not my favorite.

What fruit do you have at home right now?

-2 pears, an apple and some frozen berries:)

Has this been a great week of running, a medium week or a not so hot week of running for you?

-The cold is making it kind of a medium week of running.  It is crazy how being sick makes you so much more thankful for when you are healthy!

I’m slightly obsessed with watching bad reality TV (it’s a bad habit but one I love).
I agree with you, the bridge girl will be here at the end and also the one that he said was the best kisser…other than that, I think he’ll figure out the model is slightly psycho!

It’s been a great running week for me! I’m lowering my avg running speed!

Reply

I forgot about the kisser girl! WAHOO for a great running week, that makes me so happy for you!

Frozen berries are always a good idea to keep on hand! I gotta say- my home is well stocked with fruit..oranges, melon, apples, pears, watermelon, bananas, strawberries, grapes–> you gotta love living with the parents :)! This week has been a not-so-great running week but that’s out of choice rather than slack…my leg is still not feeling very hot so I’m letting it rest and embrace the weights instead!

Q1: I heard prices for the NYC Marathon went up and that they’re now 200-300! Don’t know if that is true, but dang that is a lot! I ran it in 2010, no planning on it this year. Will prob be running an ultra in Canada in October and then run CIM in December. You should consider that race–great, fast, net-downhill run. Loved it! I have a recap of it online on my blog.
Q2: a big bag of apples
Q3: I haven’t had a chance to watch the last Bachelor episode yet! Def glad that crazy blogger is gone
Q4: BAD running week. Overdid it last week, now the hip hurts and haven’t ran in several days : (

Reply

Holy cow that is expensive! I really want to do CIM too! I can’t wait to read your recap. Bummer about the bad running week…I hope it gets better for you. Take care of that hip of yours!

Reply

After reading your recap, now I really have to do it. Congrats on the 3:25, that is so so awesome!

Reply

Sunday I ran 3 miles in 28 degrees..brr..tonight i’ll do the same. I entered the lottery for 2012, but we’ll see if I get in. It will be my second try.

Reply

I hope you get in!! Way to get out in the cold, that is AWESOME!

Reply

Start saving your $$!! Do NYCM!!! I will probably do it. It’s only like 2 hrs from me and I think it’s the last year they are doing guaranteed entry for time, or they are making the times A LOT harder next year. Feel like I should do it while I can. Seems so far away…

Reply

That’s funny about the carpet;-) Love your fan. I am toast if I don’t get the TM’s at the gym w/a fan built in.

You did awesome at NY marathon! I loved reading your and SR race report. Your rocked it–I would carry that certificate everywhere with me for at least a week;-)

I thought this was a light running week, until I realized I was off 1 week in my marathon training. I have no idea how that happened, I spent 3 days planning it out. so now instead of being on week 3 (easy) I am on week 4 (a bit longer than I thought).

Reply

A not so hot week so far for running, but better for yoga – I meander between the two. If I had a treadmill at home I think I’d do better! My main excuse for not running is usually my boyfriend worked late & I’m not into running alone in the dark :-/
In the fruit bowl are limes, avocados and bananas!

Reply

I am glad it is a great yoga week for you:) YES…don’t run alone in the dark please!!! I want an avocado!

Reply

Aaaaaand running running! Girll look atchu! I always look tired. I think. except when I’ve had enough coffee that I’m basically the caffeinated squirrel from that disney movie. Off Season I think? Wheeee best movie ever!

Reply

Dooooo iiittt!! And by it, I mean NYCM in 2012. I qualified last year (and don’t have a prayer of meeting the new qualifying standards any time soon) so I am doing it in 2012. So exciting!

It’s a cutback week at our house, so less running…but more sleep! It’s amazing how 35mi/week feels like so little after running 50mpw before. Thank goodness for relativity!

Reply

Glad you are feeling better! No fun being sick!

I have bananas, apples, oranges, strawberries, blueberries and some moldy grapes at my house right now. I am one of they lucky pregnant ladies that has had a lot of fruit cravings rather than cravings for ice cream and chocolate. You should have seen my face when I saw strawberries for 2.88 (instead of 4.00) and blueberries for 2.00 (instead of 3.00) the other day.

Reply

Love the carpet up the wall. That is so strange.

We have apples and bananas in the house right now. Sadly, clementine season is over.

It’s been a pretty good week of running for me. I’m actually running faster in the mornings and enjoying it. I think it’s the sense of urgency that I might be late to work if I don’t run fast that’s helping.

Reply

I always read Reality Steve’s spoilers before each season of the Bachelor/Bachelorette (I know, I know, but I’m actually MORE interested in watching after I know what’s going to happen haha!) so I know who he picks and I am not happy, I will say that. I really don’t like Ben. I think he was kind of funny when he was a contestant but as the lead he is not doing it for me…at ALL.

Reply

AGREED, I liked him better when he was on Ashley’s season. Now I am tempted to look up the results!

Reply

I can’t believe you’ve run the NYC! I’m cooler simply by association! When’s your next race?

Reply

Next month! I am signed up for two halves wahoo!!!

Reply

I love your treadmill set up! I would love to have that in my house one day (even the carpet wall ;) )

My week of running has started pretty well after a very ho-hum week. I am finally enjoying my runs again and ready to start training for my half marathon.

Fruits are apples and big bags of frozen mangoes! yum.

Reply

When people tell me I look tired, I just tell them it’s from all the workouts I do! Just kidding. This is a good run week, as my boyfriend and I ran our first 5k together and had a blast doing it. Since I haven’t run since the continents were forming, it felt great to be back in the saddle.

Reply

I only have bananas (for the boys) because I hate fruit! :-(

Grilled cheese for lunch sounds like a great idea…

Reply

That finisher’s certificate is so cool! I hope to run NYC this year, I entered the lottery, so I’m crossing my fingers… but I’m doing the 9+1 for guaranteed entry so I can definitely run it in 2013.

I am with you on the headphones on the treadmill, whenever I run on the treadmill at the gym I get paranoid that other people are judging me for watching the Vampire Diaries while running.

This has been a great running week so far! I did speed work on Monday and a nice easy 4 miles on the treadmill last night.

P.S. I love that you store your luggage next to the treadmill, it looks like you are about to go on a run-cation… :)

Reply

Ha…it helps me to dream about future vacation! AHHHH I hope that you get in this year! BAHAHA Glad to know I am not the only one paranoid about what I am going to watch. WAHOO for a great running week for you!

Reply

I like the sweet southern girl he went on his first one on one with!!! She’s drama free! And my running week has not been so great, my legs have been super sore plus I think I was traumatized by how horribly nauseous I felt after my 9 mile run on Sunday

Reply

Im not running in NYC but I am running in Edinburgh for the half I think :)

Im sad the bachelor isnt in the UK. It looks fun. On the plus side GG just started back but on the negs it sucked butt.

I have apples, bananas and loads of veggies.

This week has been crazy mediocre, some good runs and im gettin healthy back on but not quite there yet!

Reply

I really want to run NYCM 2013 :) So we will see if everything works out!
We have bananas, apples, 3 pears, blackberries and strawberries – hit up Costco on Saturday ;)
I ran 6km Sunday and will do 8km tonight on the tmill at the gym, it is -45 Celsius outside with the wind – and I only wish this was an exaggeration!

Reply

I’m not signing up for NYCM but I am going to sign up for Chicago!! It will be my first marathon after 3 half-marathons…I’m excited! And I think the final 3 will be the blonde bridge climber from NC, Kacie B, and first impression rose girl. I think model may get sent home next week!! That is my prediction.

Reply

Dear Hubby and I do the same thing with our bulk cheese – mini bags in the freezer! I wish all bulk items were that easy to break down and store until needed – veggies, fruit, and those extra inches around the waist!

Reply

That carpet is quite odd!
Since I have not EVER marathoned NY is OUT for me- maybe someday when I get faster, fitter, cooler, etc, etc..
I am not a big reality TV watcher but recently got hooked on Dance Mom’s – it is AWFUL but GREAT.
My running has been fine. I’m recovering/tapering/I call it rapering. Yep.
Continue to feel better- finish up that fruit it will probably help!

Reply

No NYC for me this year! They hiked the price a little to much for my comfort! I think i’m going to run the Memphis Marathon though! I love that all the proceeds benefit St Judes!

Reply

Oh I always have such a hard time coming back from a three day weekend or long break from work!

And I also secretly like the bachelor too haha. My roommate and I watch it together, it’s so ridiculous. Embarrassing, but entertaining!

Reply

I am contemplating entering the lottery but the $255 enty fee is pretty steep for me. I really want to but I may wait until next year! I can start a “send Cate to the NYCM” fund!

Reply

I quit watching The Bachelor 20 minutes into the second episode, which is shocking because I always say I’m not going to watch and then get sucked in, and this time I didn’t say that and am just not feeling this season. I don’t think Ben really cares.

Medium running week for me. :)

Reply

I am all registered for NYC Marathaon 2012! I can’t wait!!!

Reply

Loved the last section in this post-I’m so happy you’re healthy again! It’s been about a year since my injury as well, unfortunately despite my best efforts I’m still not really running. I have hope though!

Reply

I’m thinking about NYC! I qualify this year, but the standards change for 2013 (3:00 marathon!) so I should probably run it now!

Reply

I’m running NYC 2012!!! AND I better be seeing you there!!
I love bad TV…
Ben is okay… He seems normal, which is good. I haven’t watched this week’s yet… Tonight is the night! I can’t wait!

Reply

haha…dont you love it when people tell you look sooo tired? thanks for letting me know that i look beautiful today! im sure people were thinking that when i walked into the gym this morning..i def could barely keep my eyes open. gorgeous.

i dont think im gonna do NYC this year since they changed the rules of the lottery and i really have my heart set on running chicago this year..and since i’m not a rockstar like you and this is my first marathon..kind of guess i cant run one in October and then another in November. its on my bucket list eventually!!

i have bananas and pears at home right now! and probably some really old frozen strawberries in the freezer.

its been a medium week of running…definitely not the strongest i’ve felt, but i’m hoping next week will be better.

Reply

I really want to run the NYC Marathon this year and applied for the lottery. I applied last year too though and am not expecting to get in. How did you get in last year? We try to always have a ton of fruit on hand. Right now our fruit basket is full of apples, lemons and bananas. I’ve watched most of the seasons of the Bachelor, but am sitting this one out. I understand how addicting it is though. I have a cold and twisted my ankle last week so this hasn’t been a great running week. I took a couple days off and have just ran 4 miles the last 2 days. I’m running a 1/2 marathon on the 29th and want to make sure I am healthy for it.

Reply

Everytime I want to make a comeback I start feeling pain in my old tendon tear again… so frustrating!

Reply

Heck no. No full marathons for me. Not a fan of the Bachelor.
We have some apples and oranges hanging around.
This has been NOT a great week. Took an extra day off (Monday) and had my personal trainer yesterday. So I actually haven’t run at all yet this week. Need to get off my butt and get going.

New York, New York! I want to run it so badly, but it is really darn expensive. I need to find a relative who lives there to make the trip a smidge cheaper. We have oranges, apples, tons of frozen fruit varieties, and tomatoes. I love to hate The Bachelor, meaning I watch it religiously but pretend I’m not into it when my husband walks in the room.

Reply

Medium week here. My heart is in it, but my legs don’t feel zippy.

Fruit on hand: apples, oranges, grapefruit, cantalope, bananas, grapes.

Headphones help the run feel more like an escape…….and I definitely use them on the TM when that is the type of run I am seeking.

Wednesday already…….nice!

Aaaah, I just started watching the bachelor for the first time, ever. It’s so awful it’s awesome. It drives me crazy the way these girls (and the dude) keep saying they are falling in love. I can’t stand the model but I think she will make it to top 3, and either the horse girl, the blonde phd (i’m biased, i’m a phd student so I’m totally rooting for the smart chick), or the girl who got the first one-on-one date, but she’s now acting a bit insecure (who wouldn’t in this bizarre situation, anyways?). Although I do hope the dude will think it was catty the way the model said something snarky to the new girl as she left.
i’m working through some injuries right now – thank you for giving me hope that i’ll get through and be running without pain again!

Reply

That blogger girl is psycho hahah! I saw her blog and I wonder if she’s going to ever update it after how she made of fool of herself.

I’m running NY this year!!! I couldn’t be more excited!! I was supposed to run the Rome Marathon but due to stress fractures, I can’t. Boo and boo. BUT the good news is that I’ll get to run NYC!!!! AHHHH!!!!

I’m not sure who will be at the end. I think probably the model, Casey B, and perhaps the blonde bridge girl? SO SO glad that he sent that crazy Shautel home!

As for fruit, I just bought a bunch of oranges last night. YUM!! I hope they are delicious!

Hope you get back to feeling 100% soon!!

Reply

ERIN!! YOU ARE!!! Okay, you missed the Rome marathon!??! That breaks my heart. You are so going to love NYC and I hope I am there so we can play! Okay the Shantel thing made me so mad. Enjoy your oranges!

Those photos by your treadmill look pretty motivational. Who are they of, if you don’t mind me asking?

Also, I think that Courtney will last longer than anyone wants her to, because that always seems to be how these shows work. She is totally psycho!

Reply

I thought the same thing!! What a cool idea.. I am totally cutting out some pics from my Runners World magazine and sticking them in front of my bike trainer :)

Reply

YES!! It really is so inspirational! They are photos from the 2009 Boston marathon with Kara Goucher, Salina Kosgei and Dire Tune! Here is a link to the close up of the pictures: Have a great day. PS that is a really great idea to put it in front of your bike trainer.

The Bachelor isnt’ THAT bad.. Haha I have to hide my Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movies because people think that’s weird. Whatever, their movies are the best :)

I’m having a great running week this week, despite horrible weather here! I ran 21.1km on Sunday and it was so cold my gatorade actually froze in my fuelbelt! I am looking forward to warmer weather though :)

Reply

I always have to use headphones on the treadmill because I cant hear my laptop if I don’t. :) The Bachelor is crazy, I love it, haha. That model girl needs to go home! I am tapering, so less running and more stretching and sleeping!

Reply

Great week of running … mild temps and “routine” is back with school and no holiday/party interference, so I can hit my workouts.

Fruit in the house … froz blueberries, banans, pears, green and red apple, orange, and clementine.

Reply

I love when people tell me I look so tired. It makes me feel so fresh looking and beautiful….not.

I can’t get into the bachelor this season! Maybe it’s because I don’t find the bachelor all that handsome…

Reply

I have grapes, bananas, oranges, and frozen fruit at home right now! and my couch 2 5k program seems to be falling thru the cracks because im focused on my other training but i really need to try to work on my running still!

Reply

I like the luggage used as a prop for the fan. It’s about what our guest room looks like with lamps propped up by coolers. We keep it classy like that.

Reply

I hope I can run NYC this year!!! I applied so who knows :) Maybe I’ll finally meet you!!

It’s been a bad running week. Had my first run Sunday since October and it went well but my ankles are still really bothering me (especially right after I run). I’m taking this whole week COMPLETELY off from exercise. I’m trying to not even MOVE. Hopefully they fix themselves!!!

Have an amazing day :)

I am running NYCM 2012 and am completely overwhelmed about where to stay! Any hints? Where did you stay and did you like it?

you’re the CUTEST ever and I love that explain the backgrounding all ur pics ;)

I just had blueberries, blackberries and strawberries in my cereal. I also have bananas at home which I freeze for shakes :) I ate my last mango last night :(

Bad running week – did too many crazy strength workouts and my legs have felt like crying for the past few days – finally going to try a shake out run today!!!

BTW you get so many comments Idk how you find time to read them all, but the fact that you do and you often respond is extra cool :)

Reply

I have a bunch of frozen fruit, banana’s, apples, and so many oranges! :D

I ran on my friends TM in her basement on Monday and there was no fan.. after 3.5 miles I was flinging sweat left & right!

I’m sick too so it’s been an all right week across the board. Feel better!

Reply

NO FAN……BOOOO!!! I hope you get better asap!

Reply

NYCM is on the running bucket list for sure. Hoping for 2013. Love your certificate!! Frame it. :)
I’m only partially interested in the Bachelor this season. My favorite is the one who went on the first date where they watched the movies of their dads. Courtney is a meanie IMO. Ben is a nice guy– felt awful for him on the Bachelorette.
I have an apple, frozen berries, and fresh blackberries.

Thanks for the inury encouragement! Out with the achilles. :(

Reply

I am so sorry about your achilles….OUCH! 2013 for sure:) I forgot about Kacie B…your right, I vote for her too:)

Reply

Definitely not running the marathon but I am running the NYC half marathon in March in my effort to run half marathons in every state! This week has been a great week of running. After a pretty horrible training cycle, I had a really fun (though not PR setting) half marathon in AZ on Sunday and I had a great run yesterday, too!! I’ve had so many injuries including a femoral stress fracture so I know how awful that is – SO glad that you’re all healed and back to running so often and so strongly!!

Reply

WAHOO!!! Erin, that is awesome you are running the NYC 1/2 and I want to hear all about it. Congrats on your fun AZ half. Oh girl….the femoral stress fracture is not fun. Glad you are running healthy too!

Reply

Comebacks from injuries are the greatest! I think you are never more motivated than at that time.

I am having a fantastic week of running, thank you!

SO HAPPY you are having a great week of running! I love seeing YOUR comeback!

The only reality TV I watch is The Biggest Loser. I am glad you are feeling a bit better.

Fruit: Blueberries, oranges, apples, lemons and grapes… this is an impressive showing of fruit for me.

NYC marathon — Pleeeeeeeeeeease lottery. Pick me! Pick me! And I’ll see you there.

Reply

I hope you get it Jen! We would have the best time together!

Reply

AHG!!!!! Thanks for the encouragement – I ran a full this Spring with my worst time ever and have had multiple leg issues this year. YUCK. I’m hoping that 2012 will be INJURY FREE!!!!! Thanks for the article!

Reply

I am so sorry that you have been through so many injuries recently! 2012 IS YOUR YEAR…you’ve got this!

Reply

Not a good running week, but it has been a GOOD week all the same. Hoping to come back strong from injury soon. Ben is nice, but totally unattractive to me. The girls are NUTS but I hope Kacie B. wins. Lacking in the fruit and veggie department- frozen blueberries and frozen strawberries, an apple, applesauce and mandarin oranges. The last two only kind of count.

It makes me happy to see you running so smart and strong.

Reply

I can’t stand the model girl! She is so sweet to him and so awful to the other women. I like the blonde one that climbed the bridge. She is smart AND sweet and genuine. I hope she makes it but I feel like he is more attracted to the model and the one that rode in on the horse. How cool was that private little concert in City Hall? That was so neat.

I think Ben is kind of boring. He seems sweet though. That was mean, wasn’t it? :-/

Reply

Wow…Kate, I couldn’t agree more with you about the model girl and ben! The private concert made me extremely jealous!

Reply

How can you not say Kacie B! The brunette who wore the short shorts when they watched the home videos in the movie theater. I nearly cried myself when his dad came on!

Reply

I forgot about her. I change my answer completely…KACIE B!!

Reply

Come run the Marine Corps Marathon with me this year! You know you want to. :)

I have some grapes and bananas…I can’t keep too much fruit in the house because I always waste it so I just try to buy a little bit of what I like.

Smart idea to freeze the cheese!

Reply

That would be so much fun! I might just have to:) I am craving grapes big time right now!

Reply

I entered the NYC Marathon lottery! I realize my chances are something like 8% but please please please please PLEASE let me get in! :-)

Oh I hope you get in!!!! You will love it!

Reply

no to the marathon & no bachelor for me!

fruit at home: bananas, kiwis, grapefruit, pears, oranges & apples!

it has been a decent running week for me! 8 miles yesterday, not sure what’s in store for today yet!

Reply

The worst is when you have no makeup on and people say “you look really sick…” um, thanks. Hhaha it’s happened to me more than once.
I wiishhhh I could run NYC!!
Top 3 for Bachelor: the model, the southern brunette, and the blonde girl that came on a horse.
I have frozen berries too, apples, clementines, and one banana.
It’s been an alright week of running. I’ve been taking it to the treadmill but it has been super boring!

Reply

WHY DO PEOPLE SAY THAT…it drives me crazy! We agree on the top 3! LOVE IT!

Reply

my mother in law always tells me i look tired ???

That is not very nice. How did your swim go on Monday!?!?!

Congratulations on a great finishing time for NYC ING. I am actually signed up for 2012. Boy, did that burn a hole in my pocket. Really? $266? I mean, I know it’s a once-in-a-lifetime race, but that is just way too much to ask for a marathon. One good thing is that I won’t have to spend much on travel expenses since I’m in NJ. Though, they did raise the tolls from NJ to NYC. I wonder if I should book a flight…

Reply

WAHOOO!! Rachel, I am so happy you are running NYC this year. AHHH the price went way up, that is crazy! I personally think it is worth it though:) Hope to see you there!

Reply

I hate the whole “you look tired” comment because really it means “you look like crap” – not that I think you looked like crap (you always look beautiful) but you know what I meant!! :)

Reply

Cute running shoes!

Reply

Thanks, they are Mizuno Waveriders 15s!

Reply

My hubby loves that type of sight too! Haha ;)

FRUIT: clementines, oranges, apples, grapes!!

Good running week so far!

Reply

Already signed up to run NYC, I can’t wait! Definitely on my bucket list and I had to do it this year since I’m not fast enough to get guaranteed entry after they make the times harder. My week of running in non-existant because I did the PF Changs Marathon on Sunday and am making myself take a week of rest before running again since I am very injury-prone. I’m feeling great and so tempted to go do just a little run, but I know I should wait a few more days to be safe.

Reply

Good for you to take time off. How did your marathon go on Sunday! I am so happy you are running NYCM!!!!!!!

Reply

The marathon was great, I PRed by 6 minutes, but still working towards my BQ time. One of these days I’ll get there, I’m getting closer!

Reply

i wish i was running nycm!! sounds amazing (based on stalking your recap posts hahah..i sound creepy)

its been a great running week so far!!! i had great runs on sat & sun, took a little rest monday and yesterday, and am HOPING for a good run today!

Reply

You should totally frame that completion certificate- that is awesome! It will remind you of such a trying time in your life..and that you overcame it & are now ROCKING your runs :D
Oh & Ben..ugh, I don’t really like him. & when he kisses he always makes that smacking sound, like when they kiss- total pet peeve of mine…yuck! I think the girl that got the first impression rose will go far.

Reply

Did you know you can check realitytvspoilers.com (or something like that) and it says who wins the bachelor and they are almost always right! i would like this season much better if the model girl left because she is so mean to everyone, even though her parents gave her an awesome name! ;)

This is going to be an awesome running week because the new treadmill came yesterday and my hubs just set it up!! (The one you recommended to me! Nordictrack 900) As soon as my daughter takes a nap, I’m going to break it in and I’m so excited!!! She already climbed up on it and ran back and forth on it (it was off, of course) and was so excited, so I think she is going to be a runner, too! ;)

When I taught kindergarten, my students would draw my hair with a black stripe down the middle…which meant I needed my highlights retouched asap. When I was pregnant, they would tell me I was getting fat. Gotta love the honesty!

Reply

AHHHH I AM SO SO SO HAPPY THAT YOU GOT THE TREADMILL! That makes my day! Will you please let me know what you think of it! OHHHHH Kindergarteners…you never know what they will say or do:)

Reply

Hmm I think it will be Courtney (mean model chick), First Impression Horse Girl, and Kacie, the cute southern girl who baton twirls. ALSO, I really don’t like Ben. He is very blah and to be honest, he doesn’t seem to be crazy IN LOVE with any of the girls. Just not very mature in my opinion.

We just bought a TON of cuties from Target and apples and naners for smoothies :)

Week is good for running, in week 4 of half-marathon training for the NYC Half over St. Pat’s weekend and so so excited! But then I had to go and slip on some ice in front of work and my lower back is killing me now. GRR!

Reply

So far it’s been a great week of running! I ran my half PR on Sunday! I have very little fruit at home… and I’m pretty sure it’s gone bad and I should throw it away. Oops.

Currently we have bananas, oranges, a lonely pitiful lemon, blueberries, strawberries . In the freezer, I have bananas, mango chunks, and blueberries. There’s probably a bruised apple or banana in one of my gym bags though lol.

I’m not currently running, but this has been a great week of workouts! Zumba, cardio dance, shred, abs, bodyrock, personal training, etc. Tomorrow is my first eccentric fitness class and I am super excited!

I’m so glad you are back from your injuries! Oh – and being told you look tired could be worse – yesterday someone asked me when my due date was…. I’m 4’11” and about the size of a 12 year old all over, so I was a little shocked to say the least. Then I realized she had heard the pregnancy rumor (that I accidentally/sarcastically started) in NOVEMBER and had never heard the truth. LOL.

Oh, I hope that model girl gets booted…she seems so shifty.

I got injured late last week ….again. Stupid legs!

I have a game plan though! Seeing lots of smart people like physiotherapists and Podiatrists, getting new sneakers fitted for my crazy arches, foam rolling, strength training … whatever it takes. It’s Wednesday I haven’t run in 5 days and I am climbing the walls. Hi my name is Heidi and I’m addicted to running. haha

I’m going to read that article right now because I am making a come back and killing my half-marathon goal this year!!!! My legs just need to get on board!!

Oh Heidi! I am so so sorry that you got injured last week! I am so happy you are doing EVERYTHING to get back in the game, if you ever need to vent to anybody about how hard this can be…I am your woman! You are going to rock your goal this year!

I have heard about your blog a couple times from lifeofblyss.com but this is the first time I have ventured over. Thank you so much for posting that Running Comeback article.

I started running Jan 2010 and had to stop March 2011 due to constant illnesses. I just found out this past Aug that I have chronic sinus infections and am now able to manage it effectively and just started running again. I am strugging with the fact that I used to run 6 miles 2-3 times a week to barely being able to tackle 2.5 mi with hills. I think I might take some tips from that article to help get me back to where I want to be :)

LAURA! I am so happy that you stopped over on my blog! I am glad you liked the article! Oh my goodness….chronic sinus infections, that sounds so miserable. Yes, take the tips and you will build up that mileage, just do it slowly to avoid injury. Remember 2.5 miles is a lot more than most people do!

I really like the Southern girl (I forget her name but she’s an admin. assistant), I hope he picks her!!
I guess this week has been a good week for running but it’s just SO cold and windy out.

Yes, on the NYCM, if all goes as planned. Running for a charity, as my dad is the chair of the board of the Detroit branch. I’m having a kick ass week running, a long run of 14 and an hour of nice hills today. One of those weeks where you know your body can fool you and make you think you are injury-immune until Bamn! you’re hit.

Oh my goodness. I love the Bachelor in a scandalous, sneaky, secret kind of way. Haha. I’m an episode behind that I need to catch up on tonight, but I am happy he kicks the crazy lady to the curb. This season is going to be epic!
Yay for getting the NYC certificate. I registered for the lottery and I’m crossing my fingers to get in. One more thing I could scratch off my bucket list.

Current fruits in the house: pears, bananas, and frozen blueberries that I really should have eaten a while ago b/c now they have freezer burn!

I’m not a huge fan of Ben, either, but I still watch it. I think it will be Courtney (the model), Kacie that he took on the one-on-one in Sonoma, and the girl who rode in on the house and got the first impression rose (Lyndzie?).

I have fun watching the girls on the Bachelor too…so catty ;) I like your picks except model chick. I think the one he said is a good kisser may be in there?
We have bananas, apples, and clementines in the house right now. I prefer summer fruits myself. Esp. watermelon!!
My one run so far this week was not-so-hot in the cold. I’m hoping for a better run tomorrow to make it to medium.
I try not to run on TMs any more, but when I do a fan is a MUST.

Reading all of your stuff about the NYCM makes me want to run it SUPER DUPER BAD. Being a new-ish runner, though, I know I’ve got some work to do, but reading your blog helps keep me inspired. So, thank you! :)

I like Casey B! But she seems like she might crack under the jealousy of seeing Ben making out with all these other women. For some reason I like The Bachlorette better than The Bachelor…for some reason seeing a guy dating a million people at once does not appeal to me…

I wear headphones in my own house too. I usually run when my son is sleeping and I don’t want to risk the TV volume waking him up!

I don’t remember any of the girls’ names, but I must say I am a HUGE Ben F. Fan! :) I’m not embarassed of watching the Bachelor! Haha

I am trying with all of my might to get into NY for 2012!!!! YEEAAAHHH!!!!

I have a single piece of fruit at home right now, which is REALLY rare, just 1 lone apple that will go to work with me on Friday.

I am also out of town. I have more fruit in my car than I do at home, haha

Good job on the NYC Marathon! What a wonderful experience and you did amazing!:) I have a question for you… did you qualify for the marathon through the guaranteed time or did your lottery number get picked? I am wanting to run the marathon next year but my time is a bit short from the guaranteed time.

there is nothing more i want this year then to toe the line of the nyc mary, but sadly we are tightening the purse strings this year in order to save for a home and lavish running vacations that will only be fun for me and not my hubby are out of the question. but the chicago marthon registration opens in 13 days…you know you want to do it! do it! do it! do it! it’s so much cheaper then nyc, but i’m a bit biased about my adorable city. :)

that carpet is CLASSIC! I have had a cold this week too so its been a thumbs down week for running. But it’s true, I am soooo ready to feel good and get back out there and see what I can do next!!

I don’t care if you are ‘Schweaty’ and wearing inside out shorts, you are RUNNING! Weeeee! NYCM in ’12? Must improve speed, but can’t think of a better way to see the city!! :)

Happy cheesing!

Love the picture of you running :)

I did sign up for NYCM 2012 and praying , crossing my fingers, and praying a lot more that I get picked!!! My mom has ran it twice so hopefully this will be my year. You’ve gotta do it again…so I can meet you!

Hey! First things first, I love your blog! :) I know you get that all the time, but I still had to say it.

I’ve always wanted to run the ING NY Marathon! This year I finally put in for it. Couldn’t believe they charge $11 to just put in for the race, but oh well. Did you get in the first time your put in for it? They say that for first time entries the odds of getting in are pretty low…. I am still keeping my fingers crossed.

1. I really want to run another marathon, but it probably won’t be NY. I would love to do CIM! Maybe if I can save enough to get out to California.

2. Haven’t watched the Bachelor since season 1. :-P

3. Blueberries, bananas, apples, frozen stuff

4. I had a great run last Sunday! It was a 9-miler and the cold win slapped me in the face for about half of it. And my time was just under 10 minute miles with all that! That’s huge for me. :-)
