HungryRunnerGirl Statue.

I know you probably aren’t going to believe me and I wouldn’t either but for the first time in my life I have a stomachache from eating too much sugar.  I didn’t even think it was possible due to the amount of tolerance to sugary foods that I have built up over the last 25 years of my life but it happened.

I requested pizza for dinner (what else are Friday nights for?) and so my mom popped some frozen ones into the oven.  This was round one of 3 for pizza, the beauty of thin crust pizza means that you can eat more slices= more toppings.

As I was finishing up I remembered that I am a really good snickerdoodle maker and thought that I would enrich my family’s life with some cookies.

The outsides are crisp and the insides are extra soft.  The dough is really good too.  Maybe the raw eggs contributed to my stomachache.

Snicker Doodles:

1 C shortening

1 1/2 C sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 C flour

2 tsp soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 Tblsp sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

Cream shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs.  Sift flour, soda and salt.  Mix together until smooth.  In small bowl combine 2 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.  Roll dough into balls and dip in sugar mixture.  Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

After cookies we created one of those JibJab movies and had to watch it 65 times in a row.  I wish I was kidding.

You thought we were done with sugar after the Snickerdoodles, nope.  Gingerbread houses.  If you weren’t a reader last December you have to check out our REAL/HOMEMADE Gingerbread Houses from last year that we spent 6 hours on.  They are hardcore.

This year, we went simple but I did make mine to be me on my treadmill, I call it the HRG Statue.  I hope my stride isn’t that long though…..

The little ones were a little more traditional and made little houses.

And all of the leftover candy will make great fuel for my run.  These glycogen stores of mine will not be empty for days after last night.

I like making other people’s favorites, so pb blossems for my dad and gingersnaps for my mom.

My mom has all our old childhood ornaments, so today my sister and I decorate this small tree on their porch with all our kiddy ornaments. It is a trip down memory lane for sure, my mom usually ends up with a couple of tears.

Merry Christmas eve…..and although it pains you to even consider it, pass on the sugar, a tummy ache is not worth it……you have to be in full competitive form for whatever game you all are playing tonight. Enjoy your day!!
