Triple Tangent Tuesday

Even though it seems like my last 9 posts have all been random tangents, today is the official Triple Tangent Tuesday post where I share the weird things that are on my brain today.

——————————————————–

I am pretty excited about one of my new cell phone ring tones.

Screen Shot 2011 11 29 at 9 23 05 AM

That would be an ICE CREAM TRUCK ring tone!!! I put it as my Mom’s, Billy’s and my sister’s (the only people that actually call me) ring tone so that every time they call I get to hear the sound of an ice cream man coming and it instantly puts me in a happy mood.

————————————————————-

Why am I extremely extremely (I did write extremely twice on purpose) excited for Thursday?

Photo copy

So that I can start eating my Advent Calendar from TJ’s.  Let’s be honest, once it is opened there will be no way that I will be able to have any self-restraint and eat just one a day.  Maybe if they were king size candy bars I could just eat one a day but a little piece of chocolate wrapped in tin foil= 24 pieces= 1 Janae serving size.

PS  Billy, you have got to stop eating straight from the pb jar and leaving finger swipe marks on the side;)  (Whenever I use a smile face wink after a sentence it means I am kidding).

PPS  Those floors were placed in 1908, do not judge, I am not that messy…they are permanently that color.  That orange extension cord is what gives life to my treadmill, it will stay there until the day we move.

——————————————————-

I wore this shirt today to school.  Even though I am not really tapering that much for the Las Vegas Half-Marathon, I decided to sleep in this morning instead of going to the gym and there are currently -8 endorphins roaming through my veins.  Stay away.

What is your cell phone ring tone right now?

Do you have an advent calendar?  Did you have one as a kid?

Anyone else tapering right now….how does it make you FEEEEEEL?

Share a tangent or three with me!!!

Ok..I am in Ohio right down the street from TJ’s. What do i buy? I went yesterday and got some amazing peanut butter with flaxseed. Also-some cookies (like oreos) with peppermint in the middle. What am I missing out on that I should go back and buy?

Reply

I love ALL of their salad dressings, their honey wheat pretzels, all of their pb is good. I have never tried their frozen meals but they always look good. Their lb. plus bars are amazing and so are their s’more bites. They also have an amazing black bean salsa! Let me know what you get…ps I am very jealous right about now!

Reply

Buyyy the veggie burgers, baby cinnamon frozen buns, and icrowaveable frozen macaroni and cheese (their brand), opt out if the smores ice cream sandwiches and the apple pie—not a fan.

Reply

I love candy cane Jojos! But I super love their dark chocolate almonds! DIVINE. Also, on my faves: Tuscan white bean hummus, Fiberful strips, Falafel, and Chiken tikka masala.

Reply

You should put up a tour of your house or some rooms if it’s not too personal! I’m pretty curious about it! And what does Billy do right now? Is he still finishing his undergraduate degree? Thanks for always being so consistent in blogging, I love reading yours and even when I’m going through a hard time I like to check in!

Reply

That is a great idea…..nothing is too personal for me ha! It is so old but has a lot of charm:) Billy is studying Electrical Engineering and will graduate in April and then law school in the fall. Thanks for your sweet words and I am so sorry you are going through a hard time. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Reply

Can’t wait to start my advent calender! Chocolatee :D

Reply

ENJOY!!! Chocolate should be a daily thing all year long:)

Reply

I loved advent calendars…so fun! A tangent about me is that I recieved 3 dozen or so cookies from my mother in law yesterday in the mail – all the way from Canada – yum!

xoxo from Trinidad

Reply

YUM!! That was so sweet of your MIL…ENJOY!!!

Reply

Advent calendars are great! Enjoy it! :) Your blog always brings a smile to my face. I agree with Christine’s suggestion above – would love to see a virtual tour of your house. I love seeing how people decorate their own spaces.

Reply

I think I am going to have to do it:) I haven’t decorated is the only problem….ha! Hope you are having a great day!

Reply

My ringtone is the Super Mario Brothers 3 – Water level music right now. I’m actively seeking a new one, as I’ve had it for a while.

I’ve never done the advent calendar with candy, my mom just had one that hung on the wall and you just opened the little doors.

I have a 5k on Saturday, so my “tapering” will start on Thursday or Friday… 1 mile jog instead of 3-5mi!

Every time I sit at this computer, my cat jumps on my lap. She’s keeping me warm right now! Tomorrow I am running with mom, only if it’s not raining. I love running in the rain, but she had knee surgery, so she’s still being careful about potentially slippery surfaces. Tomorrow is also beer-league volleyball, final game of the season. Playoffs next week. PLAYOFFS?!

Reply

I think their should be a 24 hour a day countdown advent calender from here until Christmas…it just makes more sense!

Tangent: I am currently counting down the minutes until I get to change into my gym clothes because i’m wearing leggings that are too tight today and I’m losing circulation in my legs. fun!

Reply

I actually quite like tapering. I normally feel pretty good doing it. :)

I also really like advent calenders. I’m pretty obsessed with them!

Reply

Another tanget: I spelled ‘their’ wrong above. **there.
And yes, that is a pet peeve of mine!

Reply

I love your zip up you’re wearing in the advent calendar picture! Where is it from?

Reply

Yes please do a virtual tour! I have and had an advent calendar growing up. Random tangent…growing up our stockings were filled to the rim with our favorite types of candy. We do the same thing with our kids except we filled them with our choices of candy until they reach 2 yrs bc they don’t really eat candy at that age. Also, I love Valentines day & Easter because of all the chocolate and candy.

Reply

I bought those exact advent calendars this past week inVegas, that and their vanilla granola, black bean salsa and peppermint joe joes :)

Reply

I am so jealous that you have that shirt!! I saw it in the Runner’s World Christmas Wish List today and I immediately began to covet! (It and pretty much everything else on that list. Except maybe the banana and gorilla suits… Could probably do without those! ;)

My advent calendar this year is the non-edible, virtual kind – the Jacquie Lawson Christmas Village snowglobe that you download onto your computer desktop. The interactive fun factor (mostly) makes up for the lack of chocolate, IMO! :)

Reply

Oh I love advent calendars! The ones with the chocolates used to be rare when I was little..or we didn’t know where to look, but we always found one. Now my mom still sends me one :)

Reply

Tangent: yesterday I was in 80 degree weather in Florida, and today I had to drive through a blizzard in Ohio. Yuck.

Tangent: I bought an UnderArmor Cold Gear shirt to wear running when it’s cold, but I’m too big of a wuss to actually start running in the cold! Help me get motivated!!

Reply

So funny, I just bought a TJs advent calendar the other day! I bought the purple one with all the animals sledding and doing wintery things on it though.

No tangents today really… Im too preoccupied (as you can tell with me being on the internet) with studying for my two midterms tomorrow. No workout for me today… noooooo!

Reply

My ring tone is just a lame ringing sound :) My daughter says it sounds like an old fashion phone :) I need to mess with my phone and actually change it to something not “old fashion” but I just havent made it a priority! We never had advent calendars growing up but my kids do. Each one of them have a chocolate one and my son has a Star wars Lego one and my daughter is just getting a small little something everyday till the 24th (pencils, lip smackers, pixie sticks etc…)

No real tangents today but my inlaws gave me money for my birthday and I am going to the running store for some Brooks Pure Project running shoes on Thursday and I CAN’T wait! :)

Reply

sorry about the previous post. I need smiley rehab.

Reply

I LOVE all the smiley faces, you know I do:) A LEGO calendar…that is SO SO COOL!! Have a blast getting your new SHOES!!!

Reply

advent calendar!! ahh i miss those. i think i’ll need to make a trip over to Target and buy one.

Reply

My little sister, who is 13 year old and reminds me strangely of you, started a count-down to her advent calender on her regular calender. I love her to pieces.

Reply

My ringtone is set to NO ME DIGAS QUE NO, by Enrique Iglesias. I love it. No one ever has it. But it REALLY SCARES me if I forget my phone is on. Lol. I totally want to do something for Advent. I wanted to do something crafty, but I haven’t gotten my act together!

Reply

I’ve never actually had an advent calendar! It’s not something my parents did with us when I was younger so it never became a “thing.” Although I may find my way to Trader Joe’s before the 1st…

Reply

I stuffed my face with Five Guys today, then had Starbucks latte, then ate some cake at work. I was feeling oh so happy with grease and sugar running through my veins!

Reply

I get an advent calendar for my hubby every year, but he gives me all the chocolate! :)

My ringtones: (Hunka) Burning Love by Elvis for my husband, a dog barking for everyone else. :)

Reply

I alwaysss have an Advent Calendar..Favorite part are the different shapes and its even better when you have company and you tell them they are lucky because you are awarding them the chocolate of the day and they just toss it in there mouth like its no big deal…Really they have no ideaaa its a novelty and you will be counting down the minutes until midnight when its “technically the next day” and you’re allowed to open a new window….is it just me or do the chocolates not taste like actual chocolate? I guess that makesss it special..if it had skittles or regular wouldn’t be as unique..but seriously the flavor is funky. I definitely don’t think you’d be the first to open all the windows..would not surprise me if someone baked cookies and replaced the chocolate chips with them or made their own ice cream flavor with thm I think I’ve definitely tried making Smores with them.

Reply

WOW….you are really nice to give your guests one of your calendar days…I don’t think I could do that! Agreed with the flavor! oooohhhh cookies, now you have me thinking:) Have a great night Brittany!

Reply

My ringtone is Telluride by Tim McGraw. Seriously, could I be any cooler/country?!!

Random tangent: I just got done chasing a little brown weiner dog through the parking lot of Home Depot next to my apartment. Her owner was too old to do it herself, so she was driving around like a crazy person trying to get the dog. Luckily, Tals and I are stealth like ninjas so we managed to snag the stray pooch before he harassed anymore HD shoppers :) I think that justifies lots of fro-yo tonight, yes?!

Reply

You are such a good person to help out that lady to get her dog….I just wish that you had it on tape! YES….YOU MUST get fro-yo tonight:) ENJOY!

Reply

No fro-yo….but mexican food!! Almost equally delicious! :)

Reply

Ha, see, for me, an ice cream truck ring would make me sad. Because whenever I realized it was my phone and NOT the ice cream truck, I would be mad at whoever called and tricked me.

Unless they were calling to tell me they were bringing me ice cream. Then it would be okay :)

Reply

Valid point…..that is why I was sad this afternoon after a phone call! Hope you are having an amazing day Laura!

Reply

You are hilarious–perhaps multiple advent calendars will solve the “one-a-day” problem…HA! (and if you do this, you are my hero)

Reply

You are brilliant….off to go buy some more:) Have a great day Lola!

Reply

Oh my gosh, I LOVE advent calendars. My grandma still sends one to each of the grandkids every year. It’s seriously the best part of every day in December :)

Reply

You make me laugh! How about this….I buy a kilo of PB every single week for my 15 year old.

His ringtone is the theme song from The Greatest American Hero, because he looks like him when he runs! Really. His pediatrician asked him if he had ever heard of the show because he looks like the main character. I almost peed myself laughing.

Thing 2 gets Video Killed The Radio Star because it just bugs him so much when we have 80’s music time!

Have fun in Las Vegas!

Reply

THAT IS AWESOME…..WOW, your 15 year old likes pb almost as much as me;) That is so cool that he looks like the main character!

Reply

Tapering always makes me realize that I want what I can’t have…….not tapering right now so I think that sounds freaking fantastic. However, whenever I am tapering I am like a caged animal…………………….thinking more about it, maybe that is my PG form of rebellion. If someone tells me not to run all I want to do is that.

Reply

I just changed my ring tones to Despecible Me and Transformers. That in itself is a tangent.
We had an advent calendar once or twice when I was little but it wasn’t fair to let one kid eat the chocolate and not the other.
I am not tapering for anything. The opposite. I am base-building to closer to 30 miles a week for my new plan.
Tangents: I want to see Happy Feet 2 even though I haven’t seen the first one. Saturday would be my last chance to hit my 5k goal this year and I am choosing not to run. I could sit in front of our (gas) fireplace all day and night.

The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

I just changed my ringtone last night to I Dream of Jeanie. Love it! I also changed my new incoming email sound to a choo choo train.

I loved advent calendars as a kid. I don’t buy them now because I would eat all the candy in one day and my two kiddies might not like it. Now I just buy my own chocolate and candy and hide it around the house so I don’t have to share.

Reply

Now that is a brilliant idea….Why don’t I just go buy a few bags of candy!! I dream of jeanie…that is awesome! My mom and I used to always watch that show together! Have a great night and enjoy some chocolate!

Reply

Ahahah love you. “DONT TALK TO ME I left my happy chemicals at the gym!”

SEND ME AN ADVENT CALENDAR PWEAAASEE <3

Reply

I always had an advent calendar as a kid, but it was old fashioned with pictures, no chocolate. So I make up for that by getting my kids the major big chocolate ones each year. They think they’re so lucky cause they get chocolate before breakfast. Best time of the year!

Reply

is it possible to “be tapering” for maybe a month and a half solid? hahaha. i guess it wouldn’t be tapering so much as it would be sitting around like a potato. i went to the gym two days ago, though! so i’m anti-tapering… :p

we had a little advent calendar some years, but never one that included candy. it was usually little paper windows that opened to pictures. we had one calendar made of material, with a little mouse stuffed animal that you moved on each day. he was adorable.

Reply

Since I’m a newbie runner, what does tapering mean? Do you mean you’re tapering down your miles since you’ll be running this weeks half? Love the carpet and especially the extention chord. I don’t have an advent calendar, never have but always read about them on blogs and think I want one. Tell Billy to knock that crap off! :)

BTW, I won’t be going to Utah (up north anyway) until summer. I think we’ll rent a house there, so if we do yes, we’ll have to run or get yogurt together. Cheers.

Man in the mirror is one of my all time favorite songs to run to… is that strange?

I thought of you today after I posted my blog entry because I remembered that you taught driving school… and well if you read it you’ll realize why you wouldn’t have wanted me as your student!

My third tangent is I’m depressed there’s no fro-yo place nearby me anymore. I’m seriously lacking in my dessert satisfaction.

Reply

I am not tapering this week. I am recovering from my Marathon on Sunday!

Reply

So if we had an advent calendar my four kiddos would hate me, because the chocolate would be gone before they even started it, and I mean all of it:) NO self-control here……no tapering or should I say extreme tapering, considering I have to take a few weeks off of running, plantar fasciatis, yuck……here I come Mr. Bicycle!
~~Tangets: I think my feet smell, I just took off my shoes from wearing all day….my jeans fit today and I have lost another 2 pounds, even after Thanksgiving food! I really “dislike” all the TJ comments, we have none close to here, boo! I hope my hubbie snuggles with me tnite……..:)

Reply

Ummm your house looks just like mine with an orange extension cord in the middle of my room. Must be the old Utah houses ;) I’ll have to email you a pic b/c your picture made me laugh

Reply

YES EMAIL ME A PICTURE. That is so funny! We should go to froyo sometime!

Reply

I’m pretty sure if my ringtone were the ice cream truck, I’d always tell whoever it was calling that we needed to go get ice cream!

I love Advent calendars! I actually like to try and miss days so that then I can load up with a few pieces of chocolate at once.

Reply

My phone currently has 2 different ring tones: Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy and If I Die Young by The Band Perry. On my old phone I had a different ring tone for just about everyone, my mom had “Momma I’m a Big Girl Now” from Hairspray and work had “Take This Job and Shove It” which I really need to put on there again. I kinda want to change my ringtone to Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO but I have the feeling I’d jump every time.

No advent calendar for me this year. Honestly, I’m counting down the days until the holidays are over.

And I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever have reason to taper again

A tangent. So I bought a printer on Friday because the one I have is a piece of crap and I finally decided to install it today. So, I go to install the CD and it tells me to plug in the USB, so I go searching for the USB and can’t find it. I look on the instructions and it says I may need to buy a USB for it. So I was really hacked off, I just went to town yesterday and probably won’t go again until… uh… a while. And I am in need of a printer. So I give up installing it, then remember that I could probably use the USB from my old printer… so we’ll see tomorrow.
Okay, really laaaame tangent, but my life is super, ultra, extremely boring at the moment.

Reply

BOOOOO….that is so weird that it didn’t come with a USB if it is required for the set up of the printer?!?! Love your ringtones:) Girl, you WILL be back…it takes time but you can do this. Hope you have an amazing day!

Reply

omg an ice cream truck ringtone?!? that’s freaking INSANE. best thing I’ve seen on the internet all day, in fact. And I am totally with you on the Advent calendar – my mom stopped buying the candy ones because I would sneak and eat them ahead of schedule and it would make my sister really upset when she opened an empty door hahaha.

Reply

I loved having an advent calendar as a kid. My sister and I would always argue over who would get to eat the chocolate! :) Now, I really want one!!!

Reply

I love, love your blog and follow it daily! I am also “tapering” for my first ever marathon this Sunday! The Dallas White Rock! I have always ran but was inspired partly by your blog to finally run the marathon. I am super ready…have done three 20 milers and hit average of 50 to 60 miles a week…but so nervous. I heard it will be raining, and cold:( I have also got a bad case of bronchitis…I hate the taper…it is making me crazy as I am such a rookie to the marathon. Any last words of advice for me?

Reply

JAMIE…your comment made my day. Thank you so so much!! AHHH YOUR FIRST MARATHON, you are going to rock it. Girl, you are more than ready for this…your training sounds AWESOME and with 3 20 milers under your belt you will ROCK THIS MARATHON! Wish I could come cheer you on!
-Get lots of sleep on Friday night and don’t worry if you don’t sleep well on Saturday night.
-Drink like it is your job.
-For me personally I cut out fiber the two days leading up to the marathon and stick to simple foods.
-Make an awesome playlist.
-Start out slower than you want to and FINISH STRONG.
-EAT and drink throughout the race….you don’t want to bonk because you are low on glycogen!
-enjoy your first marathon and I can’t wait to hear all about it. I will be thinking about you on Sunday!

Reply

My ringtone is vibrate. haha But my alarm is set to Oh Happiness by David Crowder Band – it is amazing and puts an instant smile on my face.

I always had advent calendars as a kid. I’ll have to check TJs for that grownup one.

I love that shirt. I’m tapering for Vegas now too. I am so happy to be tapering this time around – my body is trrred and I’m stressed with having to work and prep/pack for my trip this week. So I’m trying to focus more on sleep then workouts.

Reply

You should come to one of the blogger/reader/runner meet ups in VEGAS. I will be posting them either today or tomorrow morning. Would love to meet you! Grab a advent calendar…they are amazing!

Reply

I always had an advent calendar, but I’m so old that they didn’t used to have cool stuff (like chocolate) in them…you just opened a little door to see a cute picture. My kids get one…this year it is a cool wall-hanging that my mother-in-law made decades ago. They are super excited for Thursday!

Tapering for Vegas, too. But my taper isn’t much different from how I do things when I’m not tapering :P

Here’s an AWESOME tangent… I won that $300 lululemon gym wardrobe makeover thingy! Thank you so much for mentioning it the other day :) Super excited!!!!!

Reply

DO WE GET TO MEET UP IN VEGAS…..please please say yes. You winning the lulu gift card absolutely MADE MY DAY! I can’t wait to see what you get!

Reply

Just bought advent calendars for all the kiddos. They’re so excited and can’t wait to eat their first chocolate. It was a tradition when my brother and I were little so, it’s neat to pass it on to my kids. :)

LOVE the shirt and your hair looks very cute!! :)

Love ya sweetie and I’m looking forward to seeing you in Vegas over the weekend! Sugar Factory here we come!! :) xo

Reply

I also can’t wait for Thursday. I got an advent calender from TJ’s too!

Reply

I also can’t wait for Thursday, I got an advent calender from TJ’s too!

Reply

Remember what it was like to get a note from the really popular boy in Junior High? I’m not sure if I ever really did, but getting a comment from you on my blog was so much better than that! Thanks!

Any week before a race is mandatory “taper” and allows for the “taper tantrum.” Use it to your advantage. You’re going to have so much fun in Vegas!

Reply

BAHAHAH You are hilarious….you will be getting more ‘notes’ from me:) TAPER TANTRUM=you are so right! Have an amazing day!

Reply

I am SO jealous you’re hooked up with an advent calendar…I am yet to buy one! Ah well I will just have to improvise with my chocolate stash and since we’re improvising, I might bump up the quota per day ;)! A tangent for me: I participated in a flashmob in the train station on Sunday–> hilarious!!

Reply

oh my gosh, i saw that shirt on runnersworld the other day and died laughing because I’m tapering for my first marathon right now (4 more days!!!)

Reply

AHHH I AM SO SO SO EXCITED FOR YOUR FIRST MARATHON!! You are absolutely going to ROCK IT!

Reply

i don’t think i’ve ever had an advent calendar, I think i’ll run out to TJ’s and buy one!

Reply

I love the imogen heap song! One of my favorites :)
I usually keep my phone on vibrate allll of the time. If it’s not, it’s just the iPhone ringtone that everyone in the world has!
I used to get advent calendars as a kid!! Maybe I should get one again :)
A tanget from me? I cannot study for finals! I’m such a procrastinator. I just want to be done and be on break and decorate for Christmas!! Have a great day Janae!

Reply

Love that shirt, I saw it somewhere yesterday. Tapering makes me cranky and I am dying to go out and just crush 10 miles. Hopefully I save it all up for Vegas!!!!!

Reply

I got my Advent calendar too! Aaaand maybe I already ate the chocolate for December 1. Whoops.

Reply

I need to buy an Advent calendar!!! I totally forgot! yikesss!

Reply

Ringtone is “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton…I am a sappy newlywed.

I have a 10k this weekend… not really tappering. I hate it though. Makes me feel like a slacker. I am always certain I am losing ground.

Tangent: I have an obsession with the Biggest Loser. Don’t mess with me on Tuesday evenings!! :)

Reply

I NEED an advent calendar! must go shopping.

I’m racing on Saturday, but it’s for fun, so I’m not tapering. I seriously hate the taper!

Reply

I NEED that shirt! No taper for me, until Jan. I have a love/hate relationship with tapering.

Reply

oh man, i used to drive an ice cream truck in high school. if i never hear that song again i would be okay with it. however, i never got sick of eat free ice cream all day. weird how that happens…

Reply

Ringtone (you may or may not know this depending upon if you have ever watched The Wonder Pets on Nick Jr.): “The phone is ringing” song from the show. My husband put it on my phone without me knowing and so when it rang I was so confused because the TV wasn’t on! Ha! I think it is an appropriate ringtone and it is cute. Oh yes, I do have a three year old daughter…

Reply

i love your lulu jacket!! what’s the name of it?
