LOW BATTERY = YIPEE!!!!

UTAH RUNNER’S/BLOGGERS/AWESOME PEOPLE/ICE-CREAM LOVERS:   We are going to go to Yogurtland tomorrow (11/30) at 1 pm.  Please come so that I can meet you and we can become bf’s.

————————————————————–

You know those times that you are all dressed and ready to go on your run and you turn on your Garmin and it says LOW BATTERY and then you say dang it in your head (or out loud) and get frustrated that once again you forgot to plug it in?  Usually that is the case for me but today when it flashed low battery at me I got really excited and took it off and ran out the door.   After yesterday’s lameo run I just wanted to go out and run to run without any silly numbers staring at me.

Yes, I have in fact worn the same exact jacket every day I have been here.  The trail I run on by my parent’s house is awesome because they built underground tunnels to go through instead of having to cross busy roads.

Today’s repeat choice was this song.  (Don’t act like you don’t find a song that is perfect for you that day and listen to it on repeat for your entire run)  I ran for 60 minutes and I really have no idea how far or how fast I was going, it was just what I needed.

IMG 6364

Remember how when I lived in Utah I used to go to Jason’s Deli with Ashley and Megan at least twice a week?  We reunited in our restaurant for lunch today.

IMG 6365

I really think that salad bars are in my top 10 favorite things in the world.  When Billy and I have a house someday (I am guessing in like 15 years) then I am installing a full service salad bar complete with every vegetable, fruit and topping that you could ever imagine.    I really like hummus but I forget about it easily.

IMG 6366

Megan made my cone for me because I have a hard time holding Brooke and making an Ice cream cone at the same time (I have tried it many times and my cone always ends up lopsided).  Some restaurants give you mints when you are finished with your meal but Jason’s knows what’s up and gives you ice cream when you are all done with your meal.

IMG 6372

Brooke likes them a whole lot and recognized their voices from when she was in my belly.   She is even using her hand to show you where she used to live for 40 weeks.

Do you run most often on trails, roads, sidewalks, treadmills or grass?

Last song that you listened to on repeat?

Hummus lover?  Favorite flavor of hummus?

Did you have a slow, fast or medium run today?

I wish I lived in Utah!

I run on gravel roads 99% of the time…and I’ll be heading out in about 20 minutes for my run.

Reply

I hope you have an amazing run today:)

I’m a sidewalk runner for sure. And a dash-across-the-street-before-the-car-goes runner. The closest I ever came to being hit was by an ambulance. Ironic. haha. I love city/suburb running. I’m beginning to enjoy non-time centric running more and more. I think that it might be safer with the snow and ice coming though — get in longer (slightly) slower runs outdoors with no Garmin or not looking and then speed work on the indoor track with the team come January. 12 weeks until my first marathon!! So stoked! :D
That ice cream cone is amazing. Bet it was half as tall as Brooke!! ;)

Reply

I am a sidewalk runner most of the time, but I love to find a good trail some days, too. I was being lazy this morning and couldn’t get myself out of bed for a run, but I will do 6 miles tonight- nothing too crazy- half marathon on Saturday! yippe.

Reply

Not necessarily on repeat, but I’ve had two worship songs banging around in my head for the last week or so: Bless the Lord, oh my soul and Everyone needs compassion. I keep singing or humming them at random times and places…

Reply

I’ve been listening to Mumford and Sons, “White Blank Page” on repeat for weeks in my car. That song changes my life every time.

Reply

Hummus lover…..hands down best flavor is Trader Joe’s white bean hummus. It is super creamy. You won’t be disappointed!

Reply

Thank you for letting me know about that kind… I have to get it asap!

Reply

I totally and completely agree with Traci. Best. Hummus. EVVVVER.

Reply

I prefer to run outside. I was really lazy today (ok, and the past few weeks) and slept in. :)

Reply

Mmm that ice cream cone looks so delicious! I wish I could go for a run without my Garmin, I have become totally dependent on it.
I can’t seem to get enough of Maroon 5’s One More Night, I think I have listened to it about 10,000 times.

Reply

i usually don’t like hummus, only about twice a year do my taste buds like it lol

i run on roads and treadmills, dirt hurts my ankles, dang gymanstics.

ran slow lol very rarely do i run fast, mainly only if i’m racing

i usually don’t even get time to really listen to my ipod lol now that i’ve wrote that, i realize how sad it is

Reply

awww jealous of this meet-up.

running without a garmin and all those numbers can be WONDERFUL sometimes. It’s good mentally I think!

Reply

I’m so glad you said that about salad bars because I often think the same thing :). They are definitely in my top ten favorite things ever and I always say that my dream house is going to have a fully stocked salad bar at all times.

I have been listening to Nicki Minaj ‘Va Va Voom’ on repeat everytime I run lately.

Reply

There is a 1.1 mile loop around the reservoir by my house that I used to run. Now that we run in the dark before work, we run on the sidewalks around campus by us. I prefer trails, because they are so beautiful and just feel more free and natural to run on – like the inner animal got out and is just tearing it up :)

I think after my marathon this Spring (if I make it lol) I want to switch to trail running and work up to ultra-running. Big dreams for someone who just did their first half marathon 2 months ago and has their second next week haha. Dream big or wake up, right?!

Reply

Ahaha, funny you should ask, I once ran 19 miles listening ONLY to Kelly clarkson’s song “stronger” and felt like a total weirdo. I couldn’t help it, it was too good!

Reply

I HAVE RUN ON REPEAT to that song too! Not weird at all:) Best song ever!

Reply

YAY, Kelly! :D

Reply

I usually run on a sidewalk to get to a trail/sidewalk. I guess it’s a trail but a lot of it’s paved (chicago lakefront). When I’m at home in KC I run on roads since the neighborhood streets aren’t busy!

Reply

I miss that trail so much! Its so nice to not have to worry about cars (speaking of which, a car almost hit me today when they were going to fast and ran up on the sidewalk!!)

I LOVE hummus with a passion deep within my soul. Cilantro-jalapeno=favorite. Specifically from Pita Jungle. Or from Costco. Sadly, TJ’s isn’t spicy enough. As you can tell I take my hummus seriously.

Reply

that song by coldplay is my #1 running song!! :D

Reply

I would love to vacation in Utah and go for a run! :)

Reply

I’m a treadmill runner for sure. At least right now!

I wish I could come tomorrow but I have to work. GAHHH! Stupid working for a living. ;) Have fun! xo

Reply

I love this post. I love just running for fun and not worrying about garmins or whatnot. Such a great feeling! It’s dumping snow in upstate NY so treadmill for me. I’ve been listening to the entire Nicki Minaj CD on repeat for the last week LOL

Reply

Always feels so good to be freed from numbers… glad to hear that you had such a good run :D And I loooove that Coldplay song. I went through a phase of listening to it on repeat for a couple of weeks, but now I’ve moved on to She Wolf by David Guetta.

Reply

Runs with no numbers are most definitely needed! I am glad to see you smiling on your run. And if I had that jacket, I would be wearing it every day too!

I am impressed with Megan’s ice cream cone making skills. It must be her name ;)

I would so 85% of my runs are on roads or treadmills. I am supser lame like that.

I just got back from Coscto..where they were handing out free samples of hummus. I love hummus. My children, however, do not. So I told them to get a sample anyways so I could eat theirs as well. Definitely one of the perks of having children. lol.

No run today. Turbo kick and weights for me. But on Monday I ran 5 miles and switched between She’s So Mean and Everybody Talks the whole time. The songs aren’t even new..but I was diggin them that day for some reason.

I will be there tomorrow! See you then :)

Reply

Last song to listen to on repeat – Kelly Clarkson’s “People Like Us.” SO GREAT!

Reply

I love those runs when you just run, without having to check your pace all of the time :-)
I’m a sidewalk runner most of the time. I didn’t run today (lazy!). I did a workout at home instead.
Ooh, I love all hummus, but I think roasted red pepper is my favourite.

Reply

Looks like you’re having a blast back home! I love salad bars, but the husband’s not a fan so I only go with friends…jeez, who knew marriage was full of so much compromise?! :-)

Reply

I usually get mad when my Garmin runs out of batteries, or is dead before I head out for my run (which is pretty much every time, darn it) but I also never wear it so when I do it’s for a special reason. I love salad bars as much as you do I think, and they are very smart for having ice cream to make up for the healthiness of the meal :) I am SO jealous of you and your yogurtland blogging besties runner date! I want to go so badly! Too bad I’m approximately 2000 miles away and won’t be able to make it in time…

Reply

I most of the time hit the treadmill as it is the most convenient with 3 little guys running around the house and hubs gets home after dark. This is also my first year running and I don’t have any cold weather gear.

Last song on repeat? My middle son (3.5) is OBSESSED with music and will listen to the same ‘Favorite’ song on repeat for months at a time. Our last one has been ‘Some Nights’ by F.U.N.

I like Roasted Red Pepper hummus – YUM!

Reply

I don’t run nearly as often as I should but when I do, I am ALWAYS a slow runner. I am constantly in awe of people who run faster than 9 minute miles because for me, that is bookin’ it!!!

Hummus: I like the classic flavor!

Reply

Is it sad that I still listen to “Call Me Maybe” on repeat while I run? And this has been the case for almost 9 months?

Reply

Today was the best. Seriously! I have missed your sweet lil’ face SO much, and I could just stare at Brooke all day long. I love you to pieces sweet girl! Thanks for all your sweet and encouraging words today! I’m so glad I’m going to get to see you again before you go! xoxoxo

Reply

Sidewalks and roads, depending on each. And canals!
Last song on repeat? Usher’s Scream.
Garlic flavored hummus.
No run today. CrossFit. And now my legs don’t work right.

The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

I run mostly on the road. During the summer, I like to hit the trails (nicer weather and generally more shade).
I love hummus!

Reply

Yay! I’m gonna try and make it tomorrow. Is it the yogurt land in Orem on university?
No run today sadly, but I’m planning on a nice run tomorrow morning on my good ol treadmill:)

Reply

Yes!!!!! Please please please come!

Reply

I wish I lived in Utah right now too!

I usually run on the sidewalks/roads. Now that it is getting colder I will be making friends with the treadmill again. I will continue to take advantage of any chance I get to run outside though!

I have never done a run with a song on repeat. I like to mix it up. I have too many songs that I really like to run to.

Hummus? I have never actually tried it. I can’t wait to see what people like and maybe I will make an attempt to find it and try it. I need suggestions.

My run today was a slow-medium run. I didn’t really push it because I have a 5 mile race coming up on Saturday.

Reply

Paradise is one that I listen to over and over while running as well! The last song I listened to on repeat was Pink’s “Try” earlier this week. No more running for me for another few days, since I’m having trouble w/ runners knee again. I had a crazy tough spin class today, though!

I love hummus and always have Trader Joe’s White Bean/Basil flavor in the fridge…Even my kids love it! TJ’s Three Layer Hummus is great, too :)

Reply

I loooove when the “low battery” screen appears. FUN RUN! :) Also… I drove past a Jason’s Deli near me in FL but didn’t think anything of it (we don’t have them in NY). But based on the looks of your monster salad, I think I need to go!

Reply

I didn’t really have a song of repeat lately, but all of TSwift’s CD has been playing non-stop over here. I finally moved on to other music last week. Even I was sick of it by then! lol

Reply

Do you run most often on trails, roads, sidewalks, treadmills or grass? trails preferably since I live in Virginia and we have a wide range of options including trails up and down mountains

Last song that you listened to on repeat? While running… “Get Through This” by Art of Dying…; Christmas related: Celtic Woman- “Christmas Pipes” and in general “Good for Me” by Above & Beyond

Hummus lover? Favorite flavor of hummus? I LOVE Hummus… I make an incredible sweet potato hummus and one of my husband’s co-workers is my “hummus pen pal” and he sends me whatever new recipe concoction he’s made recently… Ah-mazing!

Did you have a slow, fast or medium run today? medium… it was 23 degrees out so our 5 miles were pretty cold!

Reply

For some reason I keep listening to Half of My Heart by John Mayer. I love that song! I have yet to try hummus, but I really want to.

Reply

My running playlists usually have a few songs that are on there multiple times. It’s not quite repeat, but I get to listen to them more. That’s probably why I get sick of songs so fast… Right now I’m loving Take a Walk by Passion Pit.

Reply

I’ve never been a big fan of Taylor Swift but lately I’m loving her song “I Knew You Were Trouble.”
While running lately the song “Too Close” by Alex Pare has been on serious repeat!

Reply

I try to run on it all! For a while there I got in a little bit of something (but a treadmill) each week. Now I for sure hit up the track 1-2 times, road 4-5 times and some trails too!

Reply

I’ve been listening to I Will Wait by Mumford and Sons on repeat lately! So good!

Reply

I love garlicky hummus, the more garlic the better. I have been running on the treadmill a lot lately. I usually run the same thing for weeks then get bored and change course.

Reply

Gah Utah is so beautiful! I miss seeing all the pics of you and Megan even though they make me jealous of y’all hanging out and having an awesome time together! :)

Reply

I saw coldplay live this year – FLOOR seats :) my hubs got them for me for our 1st year anniversary. I basically listen to them over and over for almost all of my long runs :) I love it! very uplifting – good choice

Reply

I’m glad you had a great run! That salad looks so good!

Reply

Mostly trails for me, though I’ve been running on paths and sidewalk a lot more lately to get my legs used to the pounding before CIM. Last song I listened to on repeat was Train’s Drive By and Rhythm of Love by Plain White Ts… happy songs :)

Reply

Brooke’s very advanced. She recognizes our voices and knows she was in her Momma’s belly. ;)

so glad we got to hang out (and super happy I got to snuggle with Brooke!)

Reply

Salad bar followed by free ice cream…Jason’s is the JAM!

Reply

Yes! Edge of glory by lady gaga. It will always remind me of my first half marathon bc when I was struggling near the end I would tap “repeat” over and over until I crossed the finish. It helped me power thru!

I have tried over and over to acquire a taste for hummus but I just can’t stand it.
I am a sidewalk runner.

Reply

So sad to miss this. I start my teaching early on Fridays at noon. I’ll just have to keep enjoying that cute little Brooke through all of your darling photos. I’m glad you’ve had such an awesome stay here with your family. I bet it will be hard to leave them again. :(

Reply

I had to smile when reading this post as my current repeat running song is paradise by coldplay :)

Reply

I run on the treadmill the majority of the time because that’s the only chance I get. Ugh. Song- Party Rock. He he. Have fun at yogurt!!! :) I think we should get salad when you’re here!

Reply

oh, coldplay is top 5 running bands for me. i like princess of china the best though because DUH it has rihanna in it. she’s my girl.

Reply

I love hummus, but I rarely eat it. I really don’t know why.

Now that I work from home and barely drive anywhere, I don’t really listen to music much. I usually just listen to podcasts when I run. They keep me occupied.

Most of my runs are on back roads around my house.

Reply

I’d love to be out running today, but I broke my toe a couple of weeks ago and am still babying it. I will get out to do a cross-country ski, though (my boots are nice and stiff), which will be *almost* as good!

Reply

I have a tendency to do that with a series of songs. Though for a while I just ran to Fighter by Christina Aguilera. Now I find myself alternating between Feel So Close by Calvin Harris and My Body by Young the Giant.

Reply

I love running without the Garmin. As long as there’s juice left on my iphone for music I’m ok.

I love hummus and started making my own at home in the last 2 years and never want to eat any hummus from the supermarkets anymore. It’s so easy to make and takes only 5 minutes. I will pots my favourite harissa flavoured hummus recipe to share soon!

Reply

I am s sidewalk/road runner. We recently moved to a part of the country where there are no Jason’s Deli, Trader Joe’s or Costco and I am so jealous of you :)!

My 2 repeat songs lately are I’m On A Roll by Stefano and Lucky Strike by Maroon 5. I did just hear Born to Run by 7 Lions and this might be a new favorite.

Reply

Sorry this is a few days’ late. I wanted to ask a question about the trails/routes you run on. Do you go where there are loads of runners? I kind of get a LOT bored with where i run but (during the week) it’s the only places I know where there’ll be other people. Do you ever get freaked out and turn back? p.s. Brooke is getting even cuter :)

Reply

During my last marathon, I had Titanium (Sia) on repeat – LOVE that song! I’ve also run on repeat to Britney Spears’ I Wanna Go for 17 miles after my iPod died at mile one, and it kind of ruined it for me. Katy Perry’s Part of Me is good for motivation, too, namely the chorus.

Reply

I am super sad that A) I just saw this post and your invite B) I live in Logan and not closer to Orem and C) that I had work on Friday so I couldn’t have come anyway. I would have loved to meet you! My mom first introduced me to your blog and I think you’re just great. I really do look up to you. Thanks for all your posts! With your great love of Cafe Rio and ice cream, I have no doubt we’d be bfs :)

Reply

I’ve been meaning to tell you…

You MUST download this remix of Paradise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQA5gQQNkIo

So I know it is sorta creepy to comment on old posts, but I am catching up after traveling. I love that song!! In fact, I listened to it at the begining and at the very end of my first half marathon. It still brings back all the emotions of that day. You should check out radioactive by Imagine Dragons. That is my current song on repeat :)
