The first time that ESPN has ever been on at our apartment:
Brooker and I started our Sunday off right by watching the New York City Marathon! It reminded me about how badly I want to do this marathon again. 2015?
Wilson Kipsang took first with a 2:10:59 for the men and Mary Keitany took first for the women with a 2:25:07. The women’s finish was intense… 2nd place came in just three seconds after Mary.
Meb came in 4th and I loved these two things about him:
1. So basically he is flying as he runs.
2. His stride is longer than his height… he is 5’5”. This also contributes to my belief that he pretty much flies as he runs.
I baked/cooked more yesterday than I did the entire year I lived at my parents’ house.
Amanda and I (and a few other peeps) made a meal for 100+ people for after church. Prego definitely helped us out but we added some fun spices and things to make it a little more interesting.
Before church Brooke and I baked pretty much the whole kitchen. Pumpkin and chocolate chip bread, cornbread (without eggs because my dad is allergic to them) and….
MY FIRST EVER PIE CRUST. I have had this on my to do list (I know, pretty intense to do list that I have) for some time now and I finally gave it a try.
My baking partner loves transferring flour from one container to another as I bake. She is always pretty proud of herself for ‘helping mama’ in the kitchen.
I used THIS recipe for the crust and THIS one for the delicious insides of the pie. My dad kept telling me that I need to sell this pie in a restaurant:) He knows just how to make me feel good.
And because it was a rainy and cold day…
My mom made her taco soup and we all lived happily ever after.

You’re one ahead of me with that pie crust – woot! Maybe someday I’ll be brave enough to try… ;)
Leigha @ The Yooper Girl
I want to do NYCM too!! But seriously.. a stride longer than his height? That is insane! I’ve been craving taco soup and now I’m craving it even more. Must make that soon! I’ve been strength training these past 2 weeks and I already notice such a difference. Now I just need to keep it up!
Kaella (Kaella On The Run)
I want to run NYC as my first marathon next year!!! Let’s do it!
One of my goals this month is 50 miles of running and PR my 10k on the 15th :)
Kristina @ Blog About Running
Getting to watch the race on TV was so cool. The women’s finish was so exciting to watch. The men’s finish seemed like it was going to be really close there for a second too but *of course* Kipsang had another gear he could go too!
It seemed like before he made his final kick he said, “oh is that all you’ve got? Okay, check this out!” :D Or at least that is what I would have been thinking if I was him! haha
Tina Muir
YES! I watched NYC, and was so inspired. Especially by Kara Goucher. I know how that feels (well, coming back from an injury with all eyes on you….not the mother part :P), and it is so hard when you know people are watching you, waiting to see if you blow it out the water, or bomb. She struggled, but she never gave up, and gave it her all. I was amazed they ran that fast with that wind, but if you ran smart, this was the race for you. All about tactics, and the ones who hid from the wind most the way, were the ones who succeeded. I could go on about NYC all day, and it is on my list to do someday….but first, LONDON!
Love your pie, that looks amazing for a first attempt!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
That’s pretty awesome for a first pie crust! Had a good friend in my town running yesterday and it looked like a tough time. My goal for November is to run my marathon and PR!
Liv @ Healthy Liv
I love apple pie but pie crusts have always seemed intimidating? I’ll give it a try :) Your dad is so sweet!
Sarah @ KS Runner
The NYC marathon was windy! Oh my goodness it was windy! It was a day I’d normally opt to run in the treadmill but so glad to say I’ve done it and that I finished!
I’m taking a short break from running so my body can recover so strength training is on my list of things to focus on in November. And because I’m terrible with keeping up with strength training!
I am allergic to nuts and my niece had a nut and egg allergy. Food allergies are no fun.
I’m in love with Brooke’s outfit. SO CUTE! Do they make that in adult sizes?
Have a great Monday!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
Me! I have a November birthday & it was yesterday. I love Brooke’s sweatshirt. Does that come in my size? Perfect for winter in AZ!
Erica { EricaDHouse.com }
November goals: Get married, run a marathon the next day, move to a new state, stay sane in the process.
Molly Rose
My november goal is to increase strength training & decrease cardio! WAH! I’ll see how this goes, but I know my body needs it.
Does Brooke’s sweater in the puddle-jumpin pic come in big people sizes. I want dat.
Ashley @ Kickashmom
I have no food allergies thank goodness! I don’t think I could handle that
Amanda @ Slimplify Life
Meb is in the air for approximately 75% of the race. Mind. Blown.
Jenn
I thought that was fascinating!
Sarah Elizabeth
November 4th birthday! Love your fun running facts, and Brooke is adorable =)

Staci @ Hoosier Running Mom
November goal: Start strength training and cross training more.
I love little people helpers! They are the best ever!
Julie
I ran the NYC Marathon yesterday! It was my first marathon ever, and probably my last- I really enjoyed it, but wow, was that a challenge!!!!! The wind was unreal but the crowd support and the cheering made it all worth it! I’m just excited to finally call myself a marathoner- all thanks to reading your blog and making it sound like so much fun! :)
Runwright
CONGRATULATIONS, Julie! It was tough race conditions but you did it! Yeah, you!
Annie
Janae! Prepare for my Bragfest!!!
My son ran a P.R. in that awful wind!! 2:43:30 and was 58th for American Men!
Only his second marathon. It was so emotional for me to watch and see his strength. I have done 19 marathons, but it is SO much more rewarding to see him finish so well.
Have a happy Monday…
Annie
The Hungry Runner Girl
ANNIE! That is seriously incredible. WOW. I heard the wind was crazy and what an amazing time especially for his second marathon. Also, 19 marathons… that is so awesome!
Annie
Thanks, Janae! Keep up the happy blog! :)
Hayley C
I ran the NYC marathon yesterday!! It was my first marathon and one of the best days of my life. The crowds are absolutely amazing and its such a good course! Obviously the wind was a huge factor and it was pretty chilly- but the crowds definitely kept you going. I BQ’ed and ran 3:29 which I was super pumped about so overall an awesome day!
The Hungry Runner Girl
HAYLEY!!! Oh my goodness, that is incredible! BQ on your 1st marathon with all of the wind… you rocked it!!!
Hayley C
Thank you!!!!
Hollie
Watching NYCM was so incredible. It makes me want to go back sometime dogs in too. It will probably be when I’m still in NJ for less of a commute!
Anyways that pie crust is really awesome Janae! You win at life!
Erica
November goals: Keep an eye on eating intuitively. I feel like my chocolate/sweets consumption is more for comfort or energy.
I did not run, but a shout out to my best guy friend from college, ran the NYC marathon in 3:06.
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog
Haha, his stride is INSANE. I dont even think my stride is half the size of me! His form is just gorgeous.
One of my November goals is to get a fruit or veggie in at every single meal, that way I’m feeling really good and well fueled for my last few weeks of marathon training.
I have a few running buddies that ran yesterday, and they all said it was a tough tough windy race, props to everyone who completed it!
Christa @ Living Unbalanced
Oh man, I love pie…
One of my goals for November is to start a gratitude journal…and to build core strength :)
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Way to go on your pie! I just bought a pie book. I really want to learn more and bake some yummy treats.
I love how happy Brooke looks in those puddles! :D
Jessica
My birthday is Nov 27th which is also Thanksgiving this year.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff
I have the same goal as you! Must strength train!
I spectated the NYC marathon. Saw 7 of my friends at mile 22.5. It was an epic day. And I will be running it for the 3rd time next year!!!
How cute is your kitchen helper?!
Georgina
Me! I’m 22 on the 22nd :) Goal for November is to get back to running at least twice a week…have had time off for IT band & knee problems but am in PT and should be back at it soon!
Becky @ Olives n Wine
Meb is pretty amazing! And that pie – I would definitely buy it if it were in a restaurant near me :)
Flower
I’ve got food allergies, sensitivities and intolerance issues. I choose to ignore the ones that impede my chocolate addiction, but only occasionally. ;)
Kristen
OMG- Brooke’s hoodie dress!! Can you please share where you got that? My Girlie would LOVE one!!
October was basically one giant sweets and wine fest. My November goal is to get back to 1 or 2 little treats a day.
Southern gal
november 16th!
Watched the marathon too and then did my long run man that wind sucked big time !
My first race Sunday 9 November. Argh
Jennifer
I have another marathon at the end of the month, so I’m busy training for that!
I also intend to continue with strength training!
Sam @ The Running Graduate
In November I want to follow my training plan as closely as possible, strength train 2x/week and PR in the 5k!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan
The NYC marathon finish was so stressful! The elites are amazing!
One of my goals for November is to run at least 80 miles. I am also trying to do cross training/strength training 2x a week, because I’m terrible about cross training.
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
I have weird food allergies as in, Oral Allergy Syndrome. Raw fruits and vegetables can irritate my mouth, tough, throat and get me all itchy but if they are cooked, I am fine. Some nuts correlate to this allergy so over time I have learned to avoid walnuts and almonds. I don’t have a severe reaction so I don’t have to live tree nut free or fear these nuts, however, I try to avoid them when I can.
Karin
My November goal is no treats until Thanksgiving. I really need to reset my sweet tooth! I also want to focus more on strength/cross training. We will see how it goes.
I am going to do a 5k on thanksgiving day and I really want to improve my time. I’ve been working on long distance for awhile so I’m excited to step back and improve my speed on shorter distances.
I am allergic to almonds. But luckily not to any other nuts.
Pie crust is my nemesis. I can never ever ever get it right. It always falls apart Yours looks amazing.
Linda @ TheFitty
Not sure how you managed to cook for that many people…I would’ve just bulk bought from bulk barn!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
I loved watching the marathon!! SO inspiring!
My goal for November is to be smart during my taper and run a PR in my marathon on Nov. 23rd!!
Bree
My birthday is 11/30 and I’m doing the Spacecoast Half to celebrate
Hmmm I think my goal is to erg row more this month to offset running
And make taco soup because your mom’s looked pretty awesome!
I also think you should start a group for the 2015 NYC I think it would
be pretty awesome to have a group that looks up to you and your
do this race together…just sayin….
Rachel
-My numero uno goal for November is to get this stupid ankle better and start running again! I also need to get my nutrition under control so I’m ready to start marathon training
-I didn’t run yesterday, but I sympathy carb-loaded like crazy :) I also loved that it was on TV, just wish they would have kept it on longer so I could see the “normal” people like me.
Gracie
I’m sure your dad already has lots of ways to get around the egg allergy, but FYI a great baking substitute is 1 TBS soy flour plus 1 TBS water per egg. I used to use this when I sold baked goods at a health food store and was mindful of allergies.
cheryl
I had a great time watching the marathon–they are all so inspiring. I liked that Sports Science segment too.
We have a lot of allergies in our household, tree nuts, chocolate (my daughter) and red dye, and gluten. Luckily, they are on not an anaphylactic response, so the products can be in the house…
Try and find candy with those!!!!
Anna
Try the Surf Sweets brand! My kiddos with TONS of food allergies can eat them
FunFitGirl
mmm I baked yesterday too! I made chocolate chip, pumpkin oatmeal cookies. DELICIOUS!
For November my goals are to run 3 or 4 times a week and go to a FIT class 2 or 3 times a week. I want to build up my strength as well so that by the end of December I’ll be ready for marathon training!
Abby Sparrow
My birthday is November 10th – one week from today! I get to celebrate with my dearest cross country friends as we do a tough workout to prepare for Nike Southeast Regionals! I definitely want to strength train more this month since I’ve lost a lot of the muscle I gained over the summer.
Rachel
November goal is my very first half marathon on the 15th!
Would love to have the cornbread recipe since my dad and I are allergic to eggs!
Catie B.
My birthday is on Thursday! I’m turning 28!! woot woot!
I volunteered at the marathon! It was such a great experience! I ran it last year so it was cool to be on the other side helping the runners! :)
Claire @ Keeping Up With Claire
Could Brooke BE any cuter?! The answer is no. Looks like a great weekend!
Jillian
How cool was it in that Meb special that he spends 75% of the race airborne?!
Brynn
Me!! November 21st!
Miriam
I just have to say that my 2 year old has the same boots as Brooke. I love them, so cute with leggings.
Emma @ Life's A Runner
Pumpkin chocolate bread and apple pie…I legitimately may die of jealousy. YUM!! Meb is unbelievable, of course. I wonder what an average stride is compared to his?
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Way to go on the pie Girlfriend! The lattice crust is quite impressive. Mmm, I love pie! Sounds like you guys had a fun, baking-filled day!
Hmmm, main goal for November: accomplish a few things I’ve been wanting to do around our house. This includes a couple DIY projects, hanging some stuff on the walls, and getting started on landscaping our backyard.
Marissa @ Run Riss Run
Woohoo! We are having taco soup this week too and I’m super excited about it!
Goals for November are to continue to strength train 4-5 x’s a week and 1 long(ish) run on the weekend.
Sue
My birthday is in November. It was Saturday, November 1. Luckily I don’t have any food allergies. One of my goals for November is to exercise more. I’ve been pretty lazy!!!! Your apple pie looks amazing.
Tricia @ A Couple of Dashes
I’m allergic to dairy and almonds which is not fun at all because it’s really hard to cut out dairy. I just try to do my best because it’s nearly impossible to eliminate it entirely. Thankfully I’m not deathly allergic!
My goal for November is strength training three times a week which should prove ibteresting. I used to do it regularly but then got out of the routine so now I’m really feeling it. I’m so sore from it now so I know I’ve been slacking too long and really need to keep it up going forward.
Gena
That’s a lot of baking/cooking – way to go! November is my daughter’s fourth birthday – can’t believe it. My biggest goal in November is to complete all my training runs for my upcoming half marathon on Dec. 6th!
Stephanie
My birthday is the 11th of this month! Yah!!! :) I love reading, and looking at all the fun things that happen in your life! You pretty much inspire me. My goal for this month is to possibly PR at the Turkey Trout…running 10 miles altogether! Also training for the Holiday Half in Dec. Working on my speed… I love baking, your pie looks so yummy!!
Amy @ They May be Light
Brooke could not be cuter!
I am impressed with your baking prowess! Great job!
My goal for November – be ready for all my Christmas performances! I love if!
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
What a pretty pie! You did a great job on the crust! :)
My November goal is to run sub-1:50 in my half-marathon on Sunday. After that, I want to run 3 days a week with my husband (plus 2-3 runs on my own). He’s been running for a few months now and us running together is a huge motivator for him!
Natalie
Congrats on the pie crust! I love to bake but pie crust always looks so intimidating. Do you have the recipe for the pumpkin chocolate chip bread?? That’s so amazing and sweet you guys cooked for over 100 folks.
I am a November b-day – the 19th. My goals for November are to just get back into the swing of my regular running routine, including upping miles and speed (slowly coming back from a short running “break”). I’m also always trying to get better with my sugar intake each month. I think I’m addicted to dessert but always making small changes.
Mindy Kohler
November birthday here! My birthday is on the 9th.
Goal for November…cross-train/run more consistently. I have been horribly lazy the last few months and it is starting to catch up, my jeans are all getting a little too tight. :)
Jenn @ Run It My Way
I have a birthday this month! :) It’s coming up in 3 days and I’ve been counting it down for about 6 weeks now haha. I do love birthdays!
I love love love Brooke’s little hoodie tunic! Where did you get it? And does it come in my size?! I think I’d wear it every day, looks so cozy!
Brittany
My birthday is the 18th of November!!! so soon!
And my goal is to finally HEAL my hip flexor strain!! I haven’t run in about two months and it would be the greatest birthday gift — I basically missed the BEST two months of weather in Texas and now it’s getting cold lol
Your pie looks delicious!
Shawna
my bro turned 30 on Nov 1, so that was fun to celebrate this past weekend (after i ran, of course. running THEN carrot cake and mimosas). nice job on the pie crusts! Nov goals: foam roll and stretch more, continue 2-3x a week strength training, and see the boyfriend as much as possible. long enough distance that this is a goal to work toward. :)
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona
I remember baking with my mom when I was little. I had a lot of fun, but I’m sure it was a lot of work to clean up afterwards.
Irina
I spectated the NYC Marathon yesterday! It was cold and soooo windy, those runners are seriously champions for battling out the elements.
I don’t really have any goals for this month, but I might try to add in some strength/core training too.
Rebecca Jo
That’s what I put on FB – it was the only time I asked my husband what channel espn2 was on :)
Look at that flour all around those baby feet :)… or not so much baby anymore – growing up so fast!
Good job on the crust – I’m afraid to attempt that.
Runwright
I watched the marathon. Meb is my all-time fav. That he spends most of his races airborne (somewhere around 78% of the time), is quite impressive. And the stride. And the fact that he is still running this well at 39! And that he just WON BOSTON a few months ago. Any of those is quite an accomplishment. Combined, I think makes him a superstar. I always feel so inspired when I watch him run.
Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse
Way to go girl! That pie looks amazing! My mommas birthday is the last day in November, and I love spoiling her. I don’t have diagnosed allergies but I have a really hard time digesting most fruits and dairy has to be limited. As for my goals this month… basically just exercise more! This last month has not been good for me :(
Cassy @ Wine & Dine to the Finish Line
November baby right here! My birthday is actually TODAY! So, naturally I’m reading blogs in bed with a latte…not a bad way to start the day. Although I will say I am less than enthused about turning 25. I tried really hard to stay 24 though and it just wasn’t working. Go figure.
Julie @ A Better Life with Burgers
Goal for November: Keep up a consistent workout schedule even with the cooler weather (well, for California…it’s like 60 here today) and shorter days. I’m finally making progress after baby (5 mos pp), and my husband is working out with me, so we gotta keep it up!
Happy Monday!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Cute pictures! My goal: yoga once a week!!
Caroline @ The Little Things
The finish for the women’s race yesterday was OUT OF CONTROL, and I absolutely loved watching it!! My current goal is to rest and recover well! I ran an awesome half marathon on Saturday and PR’d! http://www.thelittlethingsblog.com/indianapolis-monumental-half-marathon-race-recap-2014/
Amy @ Life to the Full
Great job on your baking AND your first pie crust! I still have yet to make a pie crust… they intimidate me. Yours looked great! I’m going to try that recipe that you used. I really want to make a pumpkin pie…
November goals: Start increasing my mileage slightly as I near the 2nd trimester and am feeling better! Plus, strength train at least once a week and one cross-fit day.
Katie Did What
Making a pie is on my to do list, too! I’ve never made one :) Yours looks SO GOOD!!! And Brooke helping mama is the cutest thing ever.
xo
Kelly
My Birthday is Thursday. :)
November goals: Survive my half marathon in 2 weeks which runs over a HUGE bridge TWICE. (Part of the Texas Bridge Series). And get my road bike cleaned off. I’m thinking century ride training…
The Hungry Runner Girl
Happy birthday on Thursday Kelly! I hope you have the best day and you will rock your half marathon!
MartinaNYC
Ran NYCM and got a 22min PR ;) I was on my way for a nice BQ but the wind killed me and so I missed it by 5min in the end. Still extremely pleased with my race!
The Hungry Runner Girl
HUGE CONGRATS ON YOUR 22 MINUTE PR!! That is incredible that you did that in the wind. WOW!
Jasmine @ A cupcake for my thoughts
Yay for making your own pie crust!! The first time I made my own, I was so proud of myself, but doesn’t it just taste so delicious?! I always try to make pastry dough homemade now!! I’m not allergic to anything but I’m quite picky since there are quite a few things that make me sick like red meat and eggs (except for in cakes etc!).
My goal for November is to stick with my 10k training, I just signed up for a 10k on February 1st and I know it will be challenging in the cold but I’m taking it once month at a time :)
Kelli
Mmmm now I need to make pumpkin bread and apple pie.
My main goal for November is to run a 21 minute 5K!
Kate @RunTrueLove
I watched the marathon yesterday! It was probably the first time I voluntary watched ESPN as well.
It was heartbreaking watching Kara Goucher finish. I teared up when I saw her crying as she crossed the finish line. I feel like we’ve all been there with disappointing races. I just wanted to give her a big hug. It was so emotional!
My November goals are to get back to spin and yoga now that my race season has finished. :)
Aine @ Awkward Irish Girl Blogs
A lattice top for your first pie crust is so impressive, go you!
My goal for November is to follow Run Eat Repeat’s Pile on the Miles and basically just stay active despite the cold weather outside! Also putting away my laundry when it’s dry and not just when I need it. Lol.
April
Food allergies? ha.
3yr old has severe allergy to SOY and dairy.
I have a gluten sensitivity so we are a fun bunch to be around #sarcasm
Impressive lattice work!!
I’m also a #POTM2014 peep (RunEatRepeat) and use this as my challenge month to add to my distance.
Liz
Your poor dad. Can he eat dried eggs in baked goods (dried, scrambled eggs are way too gross to suggest)?
Your pie crust looks wonderful. Pie crust is a nemesis I have given up on every conquering.
My daughter hates peanuts, I’ve wondered if she’s allergic to them. The two of us make a great team; for Halloween she got lots of Snickers. :)
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust
I want to bake!!! Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of eating at least half of whatever I am making. This is a problem, for sure.
I can’t eat walnuts, pecans, or mushrooms. I’m okay with this… at least I can still eat chocolate. :)
One of my goals for November is to run a new trail or route each week. Time to switch things up!
Brenda @ Don't Lose the Trail
My November is going to be super busy, so my goal is just to stick to my training plan as much as I can manage so that I don’t die at my first ultra on December 13th!
Daisy- Fit Wanderlust Runner
I am finally going to start training for my upcoming half marathon in January! I am super excited to get back to running. I’ve been off for two weeks and it feels like six months!
Michelle
Wow, your first pie crust looks amazing! You nailed it! My husband and I had a pie making contest one summer. We ate a ridiculous amount of pie crust in our quest to perfect our recipes (you have to take these things seriously, right?). We eventually settled on the Cooks Illustrated pie crust recipe that has a secret weapon ingredient: vodka. You add a little vodka with the ice cold water and it makes the dough more moist and easy to roll out, then the vodka burns off in the baking so you’re left with light flaky dough.
The Hungry Runner Girl
That is awesome! I am totally going to have to try that recipe. Thank you so much Michelle and I wish I could have been your pie crust taster that summer:)
Amanda Olson
I have celiac disease so no gluten or dairy for me!! Check out yummy gluten and dairy free dessert recipe sonny website: http://www.runningyourbody.wordpress.com
katie @ RAR
Now you have me CRAVING taco soup- Sure did get cold in UT quite quick!
katie @ http://www.runningaragnar.com
Grace @chasinggracedaily.blogspot.com
I have no idea what my running goals for November are! I am having a post-marathon identity crisis. Help me! That said, I do know vaguely that I’d like to be better about focusing on full body stuff now that i have a little more time. How come I can go for a solo 22 mile training run but I can’t seem to lift weights once a week?
Although, even though I really don’t like cold weather in general, for running it’s great and on the east coast we just got our first real taste of fall—I can’t even imagine those running the NYC marathon, such insane weather.
Inez Groff
My goal for November is to run 5 times a week. I’ve been at a consistent 4 runs a week and since it’s finally getting cool in the south, it’s time to bump it up!
Stephanie
My husband ran nycm yesterday and came in 23rd for American men. And he’s 42! I am so proud of him. Such a tough race. I spectated the heck out of it though and ate like I raced it:)
The Hungry Runner Girl
HOLY COW!! That is incredible. Tell him congrats for me!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties
My birthday is the 9th- AHHH so soon! I love that you let brooke “help” you in the kitchen. I have great memories of baking with my mom! I’m sure I made a huge mess and made her entire cooking process much slower, so I definitely appreciate her doing that!
Kate @ SoCal Runner Gal
I ran it! 3:29:23 and I’m so happy about it! The conditions were tough but as you know, the crowd support is just plain AMAZING.
The Hungry Runner Girl
GIRL!!!! I was thinking about you yesterday! HUGE CONGRATS and I don’t know how you did it in that weather!
Suzanne
Nov 24th I’ll be 53 and I have taken back up with running and feel the best I’ve felt in a number of years!
I have my very first half on Thanksgiving day! It will make my meal taste that much better!
Funny I’m sitting at the allergist office typing this message! Gotta get tested for grass and pollen allergies and food allergies! I think I’m allergic to some kind of grains and I know I’m allergic to grasses and pollens. After Every long run lately I get an allergy attack involving my left eye ear and sinus. So aggravating!
Sarah (TheRunningGreenGals)
I ran the NYC marathon yesterday and it was AMAZING! They described it as a 26.2 mile finish line – and I couldn’t agree more! Loved hearing “Sarah From St. Louis” a million times in NY accents (my mom made me a shirt that said that on it)! It was a day I will never forget! HOW FUN!
A couple months off – then start training for Boston! Keep posting your workouts – I love to hear what people do to train – and I know you are running Boston too!
Stephanie
Oops. He was not the 23rd American male. Math is hard but he finished with 2:35 and came in somewhere on the top 100 overall. I can’t imagine running it. The logistics were too much it seemed. But he’s from NY and he wanted his first marathon to be there.
Sharon
My birthday is the 17th but I don’t feel my age…. I think the running keeps me young!
Erika
I have a November birthday! November 12th. One of my goals for November is to run 3 times a week and other exercise the other 4 day. I’m not sure if I have food allergies, but there’s some foods that my stomach just doesn’t agree with. Not sure what they even are though and my GI doctor isn’t quite sure either unless I were to keep a food log.
Ashley
Turning the ripe old age of 27 on NOV 7! You totally should post that Pumpkin and choc. chip bread recipe! :)
Lori
Nope. No birthday this month. I do have a running goal though; 30 miles. I was getting in 50 for August and Sept (or was it July/August) and then I took a break. So, my goal is 30. I don’t have allergies per se, but I do have a wheat/gluten sensitivity- and it’s about that time that I go back off W/G…but the holidays are coming up, and how do you miss out on delicious treats!?!
Sue
You should try Trader Joe’s pumpkin cornbread mix. It’s so good!
The Hungry Runner Girl
That sounds like heaven!
eula thomas
I ran NYC yesterday as well! It was my first and the weather was not fun. My time was not great, but I will take it! 4:19:37:)
The Hungry Runner Girl
Huge congrats!! I can’t imagine running in that wind!!!
Kathee
I watched to race as soon as I got to work at 7:45. I was mocked. Then they showed the stats for Meb and I told them. SO impressive. Those elite runners do look like they fly. And how sad was Kara Gouchers interview. I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her amazing she was!
Elena
my mom and dad both have birthdays in November.
ironically my husband and I are both June and my sister and her husband both in July. Apparently we choose spouses based on birth month in our family :)
November goals – run 100 miles
PR in my half Marathon on 11/8!
Brooke = Adorable!

November birthday! :) Also, I watched the Marathon as well with my 2 year old daughter ! So much fun! It makes me want to take on a full marathon (I have only done 1/2s). What did you think about Kara’s interview? I was sad she was so sad, but she was so inspiring as well! I kept thinking while watching the race – HRG is not too far off these times – what are you waiting for?

My only food allergy is mustard which seems to baffle people. It’s a real bummer because I can never eat deviled eggs that anyone makes :(
A big goal for me in November is to hit 250 running miles. I’ve come suuupper close to being near 200 but this is quite an aggressive bump up. I’m definitely planning on playing it safe and evaluating it week-by-week. It’s a “goal” but not one that I am going to injure myself to reach.

I ran the NYC for the 2nd time in a row this year… I may not be the fastest runner, but I am proud to say I finished again even with all the crazy wind.
