WHY IN THE WORLD?! + Team Slumber Party.

It’s race day!  The race starts at 6 today so it is probably over by the time you are reading this:). It has been so hot here lately that a lot of people have not had power.  I am very grateful that the race will be early to avoid the heat because it does cool down here at night and it will be nice and cool at 6.

Ended up doing three miles then stopped and walked the rest of the way home  (@ 8:53 pace).

During my run I was thinking about how it takes just as much effort to visualize an amazing race with a strong finish as it does to picture a bad race happening.  Why in the world do we even spend an ounce of our energy thinking a race is going to go poorly or that we won’t hit our goals when it is just as easy to think about us hitting our goals. —> Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right- Henry Ford.

I spent time yesterday picturing me crossing the finish line strong and controlled… not going to waste any energy worrying/thinking about finishing any other way.

I’m not going to skip the struggle today by slowing down.

I spent a lot of time working on my legs while playing pretend with Brooke.  The legs are officially ready to go now.

We hit up the splash pad of course…

And continued our search for the best ice cream in the area.

Bruester’s gives kids under 40 inches free ice cream so they win in her eyes.

My ice cream was good but not very creamy so I’ll continue searching (if you live in Utah, Brooker’s is my current #1).

Fast forward to evening time and I went up to Salt Lake for the race expo and to sleep up there with my running friends.

I was very excited to meet Sarah Sellers at the expo!

Next up we went to grab some sandwiches.

Meanwhile Brooke, Andrew and Skye had a Panda Express picnic:)

I am sure you did great on your race!!!

The mindset thing really stuck with me…. I am trying to lose baby weight and it has been really helpful to (in my mind) pump myself up for stronger arms, eating healthy meals, more energy and a slimmer waist line. I feel like I used to focus way too much time on failing, eating bad things on a “cheat day” <- so much wasted energy. For the first time in years, I am actually killing my new "diet". I have not felt this great in a long time!

Also, Jersey Mikes is so good but ughhh I feel like their sandwiches are over priced! I think I prefer which wich better….

That’s so crazy to find a race on a Wednesday morning? Is there a lot of people that do that or take off work or travel for it?
Good luck!!!

Hey Leianna! There were a ton of people there today. Most Utahns have work off today because of the state holiday so that is why so many were able to be there for it. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much!

I hope you had a great race — can’t wait to hear all about it! That picture of Skye in front of the ice cream cone poster is so adorable. It really embodies the grubby self-determination of being a toddler. haha!

Good luck today! We are celebrating today with a neighborhood bike parade and then everyone gets out the pools, slip n slides, sprinklers and have a water day. I love our neighborhood! I also made my first key lime pie to bring.

We are getting ready to head out to Disney World for vacation!!! I CANNOT WAIT! I will get to celebrate my 40th birthday out there as well. Plus it will be my son’s first time on an airplane (he is 13 but we have always done road trips). So happy!!!! Plus Texas is having a “cold front” and it was 69 degrees this morning. After having crazy hot temps and humidity (like always) the last 3 weeks this is soooooo nice. Wish I could’ve run this morning instead of having to go to work!!!! Hugs to you.

We are flying to Atlanta tomorrow to celebrate my in-law’s 60th wedding anniversary! All they wanted was to spend time with their kids and grandkids so we’re all meeting up.

60th wedding anniversary?! That is huge and sounds like the best way to celebrate. Thanks so much Kathy!

We’re in Hawaii for our 10th anniversary trip we’re hoping to hike today without melting too much. You’ve probably tried it but we love Rockwell in downtown Provo, so delicious! I have been wanting to try Brookers, it sounds super good!

AHHHH HAVE THE BEST TIME EVER! Happy anniversary. Rockwell is SO incredibly good… I vote that Brooker’s is even better so please let me know what you think once you try it!

Hey, Janae! Sorry if you’ve mentioned it before — but can you share what shirt you’re wearing in that top photo? I am all for a good black workout top and it looks like a great fit!
