Thursday Things + Place Some Bets.

3 days/26 miles on the treadmill so far this week and I am really looking forward to an outdoor run today.

The girls were both back to normal (Brooke woke up early to knit… she can’t stop!!) yesterday which made me very happy!

IMG 8263

It rained the entire day and it’s supposed to rain all day today too.  I will definitely show up to the starting line in 2ish weeks knowing I trained in every weather condition possible (minus heat) for this race.

IMG 8268

It was so good to see Knox again.  I’m very happy he will be with us this weekend to watch Andrew’s race.

IMG 8273

There was a lot of playing.

IMG 8277

And a much needed 30 minute reading/hot chocolate break when Skye went down for another nap (her first one was much shorter than normal). Brooke and Knox were playing.  I needed a recharge!

IMG 8282

Andrew finished up his last shift of his capstone!  This program has felt like it flew by but it’s been 2.5 years.

For dinner we had this Tomato Spinach Chicken Spaghetti!

DSC09333

I finished up the night by going to an activity for the youth in my area (I forgot if I mentioned this or not but I am now working with the 11-13 year old girls at my church).

I have a few random things to share with you today:

*I’ve been practicing some power hiking on my treadmill at home and setting the incline to 15% and going for 15 minutes like that after some of my runs.  I’m reminding myself that my reward for not running the ups during my ultra will be being able to run at the end because I won’t have killed myself off in the beginning.  I have never raced with this type of plan before (I’ve done trail half marathons but never stopped running during those) so if you want to place bets on whether or not I’m going to follow my plan to walk the ups, now is the time.

IMG 8247

*Very excited to try these during my long run today.  I’m just so thankful they finally make a bag with only the pink/red flavors.  In other news I think I officially exceeded the maximum amount of peanut butter sandwiches one should eat. I don’t think I ever want to eat one again.

IMG 8270

*Speaking of candy… If anyone finds the Tootsie Roll Eggs (Easter candy) I will Venmo you for them & shipping:). I’ve heard they are super good and I cannot find them anywhere.

*THIS recipe… so so good and easy.  It’s called Sheet Pan Fajitas and we loved it.

IMG 8230

You can eat them as fajitas or turn them into a 6 lb fajita salad like me:

IMG 8232

*Someone sent this to me… I guess the lingo is different with the direction I’ve taken my running.

IMG 8220

*Good thing we got in some cold runs together during our training because this is about Andrew’s race on Saturday:

IMG 8272

*Time to get going on my last long run of this training cycle!

*I have a feeling these cousins are going to be together all summer long… minus the coats and probably some shorts instead.

IMG 7917

*I cannot forget to braid my hair today because running in the rain without a braid = a rat’s nest in my hair afterwards.

Ever ran a race in the rain?  How did it go?

What did you have for dinner last night?

-Spaghetti and chicken.

I’ve run so many races in the torrential downpours and rain. I have a nice goretex jacket that is waterproof. It’s kept me dry for the most part. People don’t realize there is a difference between water proof and water resistant. Waterproof jackets are more but will keep the rain out. Water Resistant jackets will soak through within 30 minutes. Anyway, I loved the meme as well. I’m more of a laid back runner so I’ve also felt more like an ultra runner minus actually running ultras LOL.

You really have had so many crazy weather races… it follows you. Come run this ultra with me Hollie… that would be so so fun!

A message from your body: Please, please, PLEASE stick to walking the up-hills, Janae! :)
Seriously, though, even early on when it will feel so easy to run up those hills, I STRONGLY recommend walking (power-hiking) them. It’s going to feel very weird to go from walking to running, to walking again, so I’m glad you are practicing that. Power-hiking gives you a good opportunity to catch your breath and eat something, too.
Congratulations, Andrew! You must feel like an enormous weight has been lifted!

Reply

Writing this message on my arm for race day! That is so true about eating while power-hiking. Perfect.

He really does feel so much better… now just for the NCLEX and then he is home free (until he starts school again haha). Have a wonderful day Stacey!

Is Andrew racing at Antelope Island? How awesome! I camped there one night at the end of my backpacking trip last year, and was kicking myself because I didn’t get to run the trails. It’s such a beautiful place, I hope that he’ll enjoy running there!

Reply

HE IS!!! It really is so gorgeous there. Next time you are near, let’s meet up for Cafe Rio. Have a wonderful day Laura!

?Thanks – I’ll definitely keep you posted! Would love to return to Utah sometime soon!

That chicken fajita sheet pan looks amazing! I’m so glad you share these with us :)
My second Marine Corps Marathon was rainy, but it went more-or-less according to plan. At least I didn’t bonk, like I did (underfueled) in my first the previous year.
I had rotisserie chicken last night–it was a quick impulse buy while I was picking up birthday cheesecake for my daughter.
My Thursday will be filled with a sort of chaotic day in the office, making sure our website announcements and new content post on time and correctly. And a meeting that I need to go cram for, so I’m semi-prepared.
Power through that rainy run!

Make them… they are so delicious. Way to go on fueling great during your second Marine Corps (I want to do that one so much). OH I have a deep love for rotisserie chicken. I hope today goes smoothly… good luck! Thanks Corey.

I remember thinking when Andrew started his program how long it seemed and now it feels like you wrote a blog about it just yesterday! I am sure it wasn’t easy for any of you, but “the hard is what makes it great”!

Reply

I’m going to remember that quote during my race, thank you Michelle. YES, it seriously has gone by so fast. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Reply

Haha, I wore that same jacket from Roolee yesterday. Those tootsie roll eggs are at my Target, so I can pick some up today after work and send you some! :)

Some of my best races have been run in the rain, actually. You’ve braved so many different weather conditions, and you ARE SO READY for this race!! I’m so excited for you! And I’m really glad that you’re getting an outdoor run today instead of having to brave the treadmill again. Enjoy, my friend!!

Reply

We were twins!! You are seriously the best! Thanks Natalie and I hope you have a really great day. Excited for your upcoming changes!

Congratulations on finishing your program, Andrew! Good luck in your race as well. I hope you can kind of relax during it with the relief of completing your hard studies!

Brilliant… and then I don’t even need to go to the store! Have a great Thursday Megan!

I have a similar sheet pan recipe–except it uses shrimp instead of chicken. I might have to make your chicken fajita sheet pan recipe for next week, though, because chicken definitely holds up better for a few days in the fridge than shrimp! But fajitas–tex mex is one of my love languages. I could have those sheet pan fajitas (with ANY protein) over riced cauliflower and tons of lime juice and cilantro and be SO SO HAPPY for days and days.

I can’t believe your last long run is already here. That’s amazing! Do you have any rewards you want to set for yourself for after your ultra? Yeah, as adults we can always find a way to get That One Thing We’ve Wanted, but when it becomes a reward for a really big effort and there’s a memory and a story attached to it, then it somehow becomes more special. Whether it’s a girls weekend away somewhere (like someplace with EXCELLENT spa services…), or a fancy fancy date night out at some five-star restaurant with Andrew that will require you to go to Nordstrom and get a special and beautiful dress, or a theragun (or some other gear-related thing that you’ll have for A LONG TIME and that’s normally out of budget) or WHATEVER–setting rewards for the effort and that you can turn to and look at when you’re having a hard time in the process of reaching another goal can be awesome. :)

Today–what am I doing? I work at the running store. I teach one of my scheduled RPM classes tonight (and since tomorrow is International Women’s Day I have an all female playlist that I think is going to get people’s hearts pumping and spirits soaring by the end of class), and then tonight I am going to pack my stuff because TOm and I are going away for the weekend! Part of his birthday gift back in October was an airbnb in Asheville–and this coming weekend is our weekend away. I get us a weekend away somewhere as part of his birthday gift pretty much every year. It’s a great way for me to make sure that we still have some ADVENTURE outside of our own back yard mixed into the flow of things since our work schedules are so…intense.

Tonight, when I am home and showered and bleary-eyed, I have to apply for a tenure-track teaching job that I saw advertised yesterday that is one version of my dream job–and in a town (Louisville) that I got to know a bit in the fall AND THAT I FELL IN LOVE WITH because I went to give a poetry reading and teach a workshop. It seems ridiculous to even mention “there’s a job I am applying for” because it’s oddly automatic by now–I send an application (and it’s kickass by the way–my credentials are great and I have no problem owning that *ish and tooting my own horn here), so do *literal* hundreds of others, I don’t get an interview, and I move on. But something inside me has that “this job listing sparks joy” feeling the way only a small handful of listings have and tend to do. On paper, I think I want this job. In reality, I want to be offered an interview so I can see if I *really* want this job. But it’s at Spalding and it’s in Louisville and so far I like everything about it. I am applying tonight. Applications are open until the start of April. I can use prayers and well wishes and whatever. The academic job market is really rough, and right now I will take all the help–every single kind of help that’s legal and ethical and aligned with how I want to exist in this world–that’s available to me.

But right now more than anything else I am just sitting here excited as punch for a road trip this weekend. And to teach my RPM class tonight, because it was fun to look at my RPM releases and at these tracks that are given to us every quarter (and that some instructor friends have given me back releases of…) and know that sometimes I can put together a “theme” ride the way that other spin format instructors are more often able to do.

OK–I hope the long run is WONDERFUL. Or, at least, that it leaves you feeling confident by the end of it.

Have you started thinking about your race day outfit?!?!?!?!? And about that REWARD–are you the reward-yourself type, or are you on the team of “I’m satisfied just looking at my medal”? Either way, in my book you’re TOTALLY THE BEE’S KNEES! <3 <3

Reply

Your comment jumped out at me- there’s been a lot of job applying around here lately and lots of job application praying going on. I’ll add yours to my list!

Reply

??? thank you!!!

I am going to try shrimp next! I really like the way you think… I honestly haven’t thought about that yet but the fancy date night is calling my name. Great idea Stephanie! I love that you give Tom the weekend away together… best idea! I hope you have the best time together. I am SO SO excited about this job… and of course your resume is unreal. PLEASE keep me updated on how this goes and sending my prayers now. This is really exciting!!!!

Reply

Fancy date night—and a reason to get a beautiful new dress (or pair of shoes to bring a different look and feel to a dress you feel beautiful in already) sounds like such a perfect reward!!! You run in the mountains so you need to bring in a little bit of city, right?!?

I hope so much that whoever reads my application gets that my credentials actually ARE unreal. I’ve been working a lot this year on not feeling like what I have to offer is not good enough (or like I could have done better) but soaking in the possibility that what I might consider what I offer—my version of a 6 or a 7 on a scale up to 10–really totally could be another person’s vision of a 10/10. In other words: learningto nt be such a dang perfectionist and learning to accept that there are other views and ideas that I am MORE THAN WORTH IT. On some days it’s not so easy.

But I do think I really want this job. And I do believe I would kick serious butt at this university. And Louisville is a really cool town. I love it there. And there’s an amazing taco shop (where I went for lunch after teaching my class) and a REALLY BEYOND THIS WORLD AWESOME donut shop (where I stopped before my class to get donuts for my class participants). I think Tom could find good work there, even if it might take a bit of time.

How funny it is to think about what makes a good job when you’re married vs when you’re single!!!!

Yes, if you see those tootsie rolls anywhere let me know! I looked for them all season last year!

Hearing how your race is going to be makes me wonder why we do this to ourselves haha. But you trained for it so you’ll be great!!

I am so glad the girls are better!!!! Stomach bugs are so difficult for the wee ones.

You can order the tootsie roll eggs on Amazon :)

I have run a few rainy marathons: Myrtle Beach 2009, Napa Valley 2009, Flying Monkey 2011. And countless shorter races in the rain (like Tom King 5K 2 weeks ago). I like to run in a rain vest, a running cap, and gortex running shoes, keeping in mind that if you hit a puddle or run for more than 6 miles your feet will get wet anyway. The most important thing for rainy races is to bring a set of dry cozy clothes (including a change of socks and shoes) for after = happiness.

Last night we had slow baked ribs, Mac and cheese, and a mixed veggies salad.

Today I am on kid duty (to school, from after care), have a tempo run, allergy shot, lots of phone calls for my campaign for city council, and a semi formal dinner tonight with the family at a local senior citizen center (to let them know I am running for city council).

My first couple of marathons were fueled with a gummy bear every mile. And I don’t even like gummies! They remind me of gu chomps now (which didn’t exist then).

Reply

Ummm do you have leftovers from last night that you can send me for today. That sounds delicious! You are rocking those races in the rain. That is so true about afterwards… I’ll remember that on race day if it is raining. You have a busy day and SO cool you are running for city council. Please keep me updated with how it is all going!

Reply

I love running in the rain! Although it is much more enjoyable when it’s warm out than when it’s cold. But I think it can be refreshing- and it makes you appreciate the days when your hair doesn’t get super knotted and there isn’t rain in your eyes the whole run haha.

Someone from my track group hosted a dinner after our workout yesterday and the spread was amazing! Grilled salmon/chicken/sausage, samosas, grilled asparagus, salad, fresh bread- and pies for dessert. So good!

Reply

That is so true… luckily it only drizzled today and it really was SO refreshing.

I need to join your track group!

Walking is one of the best parts of ultras in my opinion, because when you’re walking on trails that means you’re hiking, which is pretty great, too!

HOORAY ANDREW!!! He must feel so much relief. Also, I’ll be curious to know if you notice this fun (for you) thing: after my husband finished his MBA, for the first week or two (until grades were posted & things were finialized), every once in a while he would start to move like he’d forgotten something and then he’d relax. When I finally asked him what was up he said he kept feeling like he should be doing an assignment and he was afraid he was missing a deadline. Muscle memory…you can create it for ANYTHING. ?

BEST LUCK to Andrew on his race this weekend! Woohoo! Go have fun and get a little muddy (but no injuries, haha)!

Races in the rain…yep. I have not so great race juju. It rains A LOT whenever I show up to a race. And even if it’s dead of summer, it turns freakishly cold? Not a fan. I don’t mind running in warm rain—actually enjoy that, to be honest. But I will hard pass on cold. Maybe that’s why I actually like my treadmill so much? All of my early races were so cold and rainy? Wait…did I just have a psychological breakthrough? ?

Tried running with candy once (skittles). Did. Not. Go. Well. So much stomach pain. However, I am a HUGE fan of the honey sticks you can pick up at WinCo in Orem for about 15 cents each and they have just about every flavor under the sun (I really liked Coconut and Cinnamon). I like to just chew a little hole in the end and kind of suck on that for a bit as I run and then chase it with some water. Quick energy + happy tummy (for me, at least…I know everyone had different needs).

Your dinner looks yummy, as do those sheet pan fajitas! We had smoothies.

Happy Thursday, Janae! Stay dry out there!

Reply

I am totally going to pay attention to see if Andrew does that too! Hahah I am so glad that commenting today helped you understand yourself on a deeper level;) . We have a bunch of honey sticks, I’m going to try on that. Thank you so much Michelle. Thanks and luckily it wasn’t raining much. I hope you have a beautiful day!

I love running in the rain, but wearing a hat, having extra vaseline to prevent chafing, and immediately changing into something dry is now required! I have race 2 half marathons in the rain, and post race dry clothes are a game changer.

Reply

Hats are necessary… and so is the vaseline and change of clothes!! I hope you have a wonderful day Loribeth!

Never raced in rain . . . just cold!! Seeing all the spectators wearing puffy parkas makes you feel pretty tough. :-)

I had yogurt with a banana, granola, and chia seeds last night for dinner, followed by some popcorn . . . the single life, ha! Question for you (or anyone else reading)–when I run in the evening (around 5ish), I fall asleep normally but wake up at 3am, every time. Any tips or ideas??

YAY for your last long run this cycle! My Thursday is is busy at work, but good busy–ready for the weekend! Hoping to get a workout in tonight.

That is very interesting! I have never had the problem… anyone else?? When I work out in the evening I usually have a hard time falling asleep though! Have a great workout and the weekend is almost here!

I love candy while running! I either will do sour gummy life savers (green bag) or starbursts.

I’ve used the gummy life savers too, they are so good! have a great day Libbie!

I actually finished right behind you at Boston in 2015. Remember that day–wind, cold, downpours, sloshing shoes, sagging clothes? The weather gave me permission to just take it all in and celebrate the accomplishment of being a part of an iconic race. I enjoyed every minute of it, especially the scalding shower afterwards!

Reply

I wish we could have met there!! Oh that was rough weather ha… we must be strong:). I agree, it helped me to focus less on numbers and more on absorbing it all!

Reply

Good luck on your long run! I have eaten candy a few times on runs, I feel like it didn’t go well for me.

I have raced in the rain and found that capris (or tight shorts) are better than traditional shorts because chaffing!!! Also a hat with a bill is a must.

All the food looks yummy……now I am hungry.

Reply

I did my half Ironman in the rain. The swim was fine. The bike was cold and slippery. The chaffing on the run left me with bloody armpits. But I finished alive. My husband did Boston last year in the rain and got hypothermia. But he also didn’t really dress for the weather. Andrew will be fine but make sure he wears his tights despite the people opposed to men in tights.

We had pulled pork taco bowls last night, your spaghetti recipe looks good as does the sheet pan fajitas. Nothing exciting for today. Just work and more snow. But I nailed my tempo run this morning.

I am a big fan of Swedish fish on a run.

Reply

THANK YOU for always linking and sharing your yummy recipes b/c I am ALWAYS looking for new and easy recipes to make! I printed both of the ones you shared today–they look great! You have me intrigued with these Tootsie Roll eggs……………..I will be on the look-out! Easter candy is just SO good!

Dinner last night was baked sweet potatoes, cut open and fluffed up with bbq chicken on top and cheese–broil and then top with chives/cilantro/etc. They were so good.

Last spring I ran the St. Michael’s 1/2 in the rain. It really wasn’t a big deal until around mile 10-11 we HAD to cross through this pretty deep part of the road–like ankle deep. Your feet were SOAKED then, but it was so close to the end. I ran the first half of Key West 1/2 this year in rain, too—which was actually better than when it stopped around mile 6 and got sunny, warm and humid! So, I’ve learned that racing in rain really isn’t all that bad (unless it’s POURING rain; that might be a different story!).

Good luck finding those eggs!!!! :) You should e-mail the Tootsie Roll company :)

Target has the eggs. If you have the target card you can get free 2 day shipping.

AHHHH I looked at our target yesterday and they were gone. I’ll try ordering, thank you!

I always love running in the rain in the summer! But not in the winter, cold rain makes me so cold!! The braid is a MUST, my hair gets the same way if I run in the rain!

Last night for dinner we had vegetarian nachos! So yummy!

We just sold our house and bought another and we are moving in two weeks so tonight will be lots of packing (and the coming days will be more packing…)!

I was a big fan of M&M’s while running and fruit snacks!! :-)

I’ve seen tootsie roll eggs at the Dollar Tree and my Target has them as well. I’ll send you some if you can’t find them!

Honolulu Marathon 2014 – it rained the entire time! It was a warm rain, but soggy and sloppy. I felt a blister forming at about mile 15 and found an aid station about 1/2 mile later. I stopped and took my shoes and socks off and added Vaseline and bandaids. The blisters never got any bigger so it was definitely worth those extra minutes. It would have been really tough finishing with growing blisters.

Les was out of town so I had cereal for dinner last night.

We have a major, unplanned, home project going on here. A tub that wouldn’t drain has turned into an old pipe that is crumbling. We now have a 10 foot pipe that has to be replaced. Fortunately we caught it before we had water damage inside our walls and the work can be done from the outside.

Me and sugar while running is not a good combo. Candy after a run? Absolutely!

Umm…candy during an ultra yes. Aid stations have m & ms and gummies (I have subsisted off that for many races ha).

I think walking the uphills is super smart! If it takes more effort to run than walk, then I would say walk it. True story, during my first ultra, there was a hill, like a winding road that was a hill, runnable as it was the road leading to the trails. I was like why is everyone walking? It was early so I happily ran it. Well, not 30 minutes later people started passing me in droves, and ended up finishing ahem, some hours ahead. My lesson learned. A super fast trail running friend I know had this tactic. He started at the back of the pack or close. By the end of the race he was in the top 10 or higher.

Um yes, ran a race in the rain – I was wet and chafed a bit but that was because it was my first marathon and I was unprepared haha. As long as you bring vaseline, and have changes of clothes (shoes and socks)! you should be good to go.

Dinner last night…a smoothie and popcorn.

Have a great day Janae!

I’ve only done runs in misty rain – and they were surprisingly not bad, just remember a baseball cap, it helps keep the rain out of your eyes! and I’ve eaten swedish fish on a run – so good! Now I want some…

Last night we had fettuccine alfredo (but I use Rao’s sauce in a jar) with a side of broccoli and garlic bread – so simple!

Reply

I love that Brooke loves to knit. I just started last year and I love it too! It’s very addictive. You’ll have to show us her projects so that I can learn from her ;)

Reply

My very first half was in the rain… talk about horrible!!! It felt good at the end but boy was it a bad run lol

For dinner last night I actually had leftover Salsa Verde Chicken that you posted about not that long ago :)

I do have a question, I have been stuck inside on the treadmill as well for most of my long runs and my calfs are starting to get a bit tight/sore from it. Do you ever get that and if so what helps you? I have been wearing my compression socks and Oofos and foam rolling but it wont seem to go away. I’m waiting on my new treadmill to arrive which I’m hoping will help some too

Reply

I swear that walking the uphills made my 30 mile trail run full of joy instead of full of pain.

I ran the rainy St George marathon – all rain, every step, rivers squishing out of your shoes. My advice for Andrew…lube/anti-chafe of his choice EVERYWHERE that clothing might even slightly, barely touch. At that St George, the outside of my thighs had welts from the edge of my wet shorts sticking to my leg and rubbing up and down. If he is wearing a hydration pack, make sure to lube under his shirt where the pack straps will be and where the top and bottom edges the pack touch his back.

I’ve eaten jelly beans and gummy bears as race food.

Reply

My last marathon this past December was raining the whole time! It wasn’t pleasant. I was so cold. And now I have no desire to run in the rain again even for a few miles.
Good luck Andrew! Since he’s not running the 50 miler with you, is he crewing for you?
Also, what kind of dr is dr Bennett you talk about? I wish I lived there and could check him out too

Reply

The whole time… oh that is so hard (and especially when it is so cold)! Yes, he will be and it will be fun to see them all along the way. Toby will be also. He is a chiropractor. Fly in to Utah to see him and I’ll take you to Cafe Rio ha. Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Reply

Oh my gosh, Colleen Quigley posted an Instagram story of her ponytail after a longer run in the rain yesterday, and I got stressed out just looking at it!!! My hair is ALWAYS in a bun, but it’s also just past shoulder length so I guess it’s easier to manage!

Reply

Oh I can’t wait to look it up! It is very stressful haha. I’ll start copying you and doing a bun more! Have a wonderful day Bridget!

Surprisingly, I live near Seattle and usually run 5-6 5K’s a year May-October, and have never had it rain. There were a few times in October it rained a bit right before the race, but it stopped just before start time.

Congrats to Andrew – and just in time for baseball season! He should celebrate by signing up for mlb.tv so he can catch all the Angels games. It’s only like $120. Does he already do that? That is how I keep up with my Royals up here, although they’ve had a few “lean” years since the 2015 World Series victory.

Reply

Andrew has mlb.tv too and he is obsessed. I’ll tell Andrew to cheer for the Royals too now! You are the good luck charm to the Seattle races! Have a great rest of your day John and thanks!

Reply

Ha, good man that Andrew. The Royals already dim season just got worse with Salvador Perez out for the season; probably won’t be a whole lot to cheer for. And as Andrew knows well, us poor Mariner fans have suffered for years, lol. We still stick with our teams through thick and thin though.

Reply

Walking the hills will be the smartest thing you can do! For my first 50M, the first half was basically flat. I was instructed by my mentors to walk a minute every 15 minutes for the first few hours. This was torture, but in the second half, when it got more technical, I was passing people left and right and even sprinted the last half mile. You will be grateful you did it! Can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Reply

Thank you for telling me this Megan… you just gave me more motivation to do this. THANK YOU!!

That fajita on a salad looks AMAZING. I always associate you with amazing salads (though maybe more so back in the day than now… though you’re still salad queen!). It influenced me a lot. I know you struggled with fueling issues (and I don’t know if that was related), but the ridiculous salads were a blessing for me. I want to get back into that!

OH I am so glad:). My underfueling days were more with just eating roasted broccoli, oatmeal and candy every day;). Thanks for sharing and keep loving those salads… they are so good and so full of goodness!

I ran my first marathon in the rain! For the first 18 miles, anyway. I was dreading it beforehand but it went just fine, except for some serious chafing afterward.

Sooo my Thursday is full of filing insurance claims and looking for a rental car… I was in a car accident yesterday. I was completely stopped and a truck hit me from behind at about 40mph. My car is totaled but I’m thankful to be okay except for some neck pain. I went to the ER and got a CT scan and they said it looked good. But I’m sad to not be able to run for a bit now, and to have to cancel my plan to run a marathon in a couple weeks :( But I can still root for you on the 23rd! Stay safe!

Grant, I am so thankful you are okay! Please keep me updated with how you are doing. Skye and I had a similar situation last year and it is so incredibly sorry. Recover well and I am SO happy you are okay!

We recently went through something similar, i feel for you man. We had pretty good luck with the other party’s insurance (Geico) taking care of things. Hope things go smoothly for you and you’re feeling better soon.

I’ve only run a 5k in the rain, but it was still interesting! :) Hopefully your longer run today in the rain is more refreshing than painful though! Sometimes those interesting runs with crazy weather are just what we need to feel alive as runners! ;)

I had leftover tacos for dinner last night! They were SO good!

We have been busy today with getting ready to close on our new flip house this next week, so plenty of adulting going on in our world! Woo hoo!

I’ve packed skittles for my long run fuel and it was fabulous in every way! Just the perfect amount of sugar I needed to keep me going!

Haven’t run a race in the rain yet, but I’m just getting back into running.
I had a chicken Cesar Salad for dinner last night, with chocolate milk after my run.
My Thursday has been filled with Birthday Celebrating!!
Never eaten candy, but I’m just starting to run distances that I need fuel during for and so far I’ve been doing Huma gels.
