I bet you can guess how far I went yesterday on my run… I’m so predictable. I like routine. I fall into habits way too easily.
I really and truly thought it had to be 85 degrees during my run yesterday but nope, 73. I feel like a wuss when I think back to summer running at my brother’s house in Arizona. When I left his house at 5 a.m. to run it would already be in the 90s. I’ll just sit here and clap for all of you warriors out there running through true heat and humidity;)
Due to my stalling for 48 minutes (YES, for 48 minutes I found random things to do to keep me from leaving for my run;) the kids were awake and hiding from me when I walked in the door. They must have been hiding because they knew I was going to have them clean their rooms when I got home.
Knox is beyond obsessed with the army and yesterday when he met a few men in the army he went right up to one of them and gave him a big hug. They gave the kids some free gear and Knox said it was the best day of his life.
My dinner last night included large amounts of carbohydrates of course. If I kept track of macros, I’m sure I would have been at about 90% carbs yesterday but that’s okay:) I think the baby really needed all of the carbs for growing yesterday. I also had some milk, eggs, cheese, spinach and turkey sausage so there were a few more nutrients consumed.
We went out for family night last night! This is something that we do each week and it is something I did with my family growing up too! You can read more about ideas for family night here! The night includes prayer, scripture, songs, a lesson and something fun (usually involving treats in our family;).
For our family night treat Brooke chose a cupcake, Knox chose a blue sucker (as seen above;)…
And I chose a bag of rolls and jam (Andrew joined me with this choice). All of these stores are right next to each other which made it easy for all of us to get what we wanted. Lion House rolls are another must if you are ever in Utah.
Time for some of my FRIDAY FAVORITES!!!
*Now that it is August, I can officially say that This Is Us is on NEXT MONTH. This is by far my all-time favorite show. Andrew is concerned with how it is going to effect me with my current pregnant emotions because last season I cried every episode and truly felt like these characters were a part of my life. I get a little bit too invested.
*THRED WALLETS. I’ve had one of these for years and years now and I love them. Basically it is a small wallet for all of your cards that connects to your keys. They are super small and help me to never lose my cards anymore. I’ll use them forever because I hate carrying a purse around (although I’m probably going to need a diaper bag soon ha) and this way I have everything I need with my keys!
*Knox’s cuddles. If you are sitting still somewhere, before you know it he will be right next to you cuddled up. I love it.
*Dave’s Killer Bread (pictured with my lunch yesterday and I added garlic butter after the picture). For some WEIRD reason we switched up the bread we bought and now just went back to Dave’s Killer bread (we get it at Costco) and I am NEVER switching again. It is the best. By far.
*Rich Love by OneRepublic is my current favorite running song.
*We now have a treadmill in a way more open area of our house. Before it was in a room tucked away that got really hot and now it is underneath a ceiling fan with way more air around (and it’s easier to see the kids too). It makes the world of difference. It’s also by my desk so while I work, Andrew can finish up his 10,000 steps for the day! He has been on track with his goal of 10k steps a day for quite some time now. I currently get all of my steps in the morning and then I’m done for the day;)
*This week’s favorite podcasts—> How I Built This, Man Bun Run (I get to talk to him today and make a podcast wahoo), I’ll Have Another w/Lindsey Hein, Happier with Gretchen Rubin, Goal Digger the podcast, About Progress w/ Monica Packer, and Run Eat Repeat (Monica is hilarious and she just started a podcast).
*Brooke is bringing back anklets (or maybe those are in, I don’t know these things) and she wanted me to share her current favorite anklet design.
*Blitz ball… we play this at Andrew’s parent’s house all of the time and it is a blast.
*I learned how to play this game on Wednesday with the youth in my area and it is WAY fun (and all you need is dice, a pen and a piece of paper)… I got a little too into the game ha! The instructions are HERE. I would try to explain how to play on the blog but the instructions I linked too are way better. Seriously try it, we had so much fun!
*A few people asked about my sneakers from the other day… they are HERE at Nordstrom Rack!
*I just preordered some goodr running sunglasses and I can’t wait for them to get here. I’ve heard great things about them and as you know, I HATE running in the sunlight without sunglasses. Excited for some fun variety soon and they are cheap!

Jennifer about her daughter MEGHAN, “My daughter Meghan is amazing! She is just shy of 13 yrs old and has already found her love for running. It doesn’t matter the weather, the distance, or the place she has come to love running. She has some very big goals for 2017 and she is constantly working towards them. She does have some big hurdles to pass because she is small for her age. Despite being almost 13 yrs old, she is only the size of an 8 yr old, but she runs for herself. She may not be the fastest but she can run forever. She recently reached a big milestone for this year. She has run 500 miles since the beginning of 2017. She is on pace to reach 1000 by the end of the year PLUS she is training for her 1st half-marathon in October.”
Elizabeth!!! “I wanted to share that on July 23rd, I ran my first marathon! I ran the San Francisco Marathon, finishing in 4:17. My mom went to San Francisco with me and she ran the first official half marathon and she did it in 2:22! I am so stinking proud of her and of myself too.” You can check out Elizabeth’s amazing blog HERE!
Do you have a favorite bread that you buy? For my own selfish reasons… do you have a favorite jam recipe? It’s my latest craving so just go ahead and help me out on this one;)
What would you say is your absolute favorite show ever?! Anyone else obsessed with This Is Us and want to do a weekly Skype call so we can feel like we are all watching it together this season?
What are your Friday plans?!?
Do you wear sunglasses when you run? What kind?
