As you know, things are changing big time around here these days!  It has just been me and the Brookers for years and now we are doubling in size.

I feel ridiculously lucky to have found Andrew (well, Nolan found him for me) and that we get to start building a life together.

With many running adventures together too.

Picture from us together on the bus at 4:30 a.m. on the way to a race:

I think over the decades together ahead of us whether it is a random Thursday night, a trip somewhere awesome or an early morning treadmill session… running will always be something that Andrew and I enjoy doing together.  I tell him all of the time that all I need for a date is a run together (followed by some sort of treat of course).  It is something we will always have that we can do anywhere and conversations during a run always seem to be that much more meaningful to me.

I’ve been thinking about some of the many benefits/funny things/consequences/randomness that comes along with marrying a runner and I wanted to share them:

*Couples that carb load together, stay together.  That’s a thing right?  Well, it will sure be nice to have someone that will want to carb load with me the night before a race or long run and to have someone to cheers with some chocolate milk afterwards.

*He is more than okay with my runner’s feet and understands miles trump pretty toes any day;)

*We can show each other our love by doing things like making a nice ice bath for our spouse after they have a hard run or schedule an appointment for the other to get scraped/graston/sports massage… you know, romantic things like that.

*We will both be more than okay going to bed early on weekend nights so we can wake up early to run:)

*Foam rolling while watching a running documentary together, just normal married people activities.

*He is 100% on board with a chunk of the budget going towards all things running—>  race registrations, running shoes, all of the tanks, blister-proof socks, garmins etc.

*We will probably plan our trips around races and cool running spots every now and then.

*If one of us is injured than the other will be able to empathize and we will most definitely understand all of the weird terms that only runners understand—>  PR, DNF, fartlek, tempo, BQ, plantar fasciitis and the list goes on and on.

and lastly:

*The running clothes laundry that I will be doing is about to double in size.

I laughed so hard at this because it is SOOOOO true:

To help us out with all of the many loads of running socks, sports bras, running shoes, tech t-shirts, compression socks, headbands (I wash my running headbands after every run because they get gross fast), spandex and tanks——>  Andrew and I made our first very important purchase together.  We bought an LG Front-Load Washer and Dryer and as you can tell I am really excited about it.

IMG 0630

Andrew is thrilled about it too because doing the laundry is his absolute least favorite chore.  He does not like it one bit.  I weirdly enjoy doing laundry/ironing/folding so I’ll be in charge of all of the laundry at our house and he will be in charge of the chores that I can’t stand doing (aka all of the yard work and bathrooms:).  It works out perfectly.

To add to my excitement, today I will be getting the LG SideKick delivered.  I’ll be waiting patiently by the front door for it to arrive (and today you get the chance to win one of these too)!

Screen Shot 2016 06 28 at 4 35 13 PM

The LG SideKick pedestal washer enhances your laundry routine big time and I’m so ready for that.  It goes directly below your LG front-load washer and it is an ADDITIONAL washing machine!  It is perfect for all of us workoutaholics because you can put your normal loads into the front-loader and then put your active wear and custom care pieces in the LG SideKick!  This can help us all to keep our expensive workout pieces/nice sports bras etc protected!

The LG SideKick and LG front-load washer can work together at the same time or independently—>  this means you can do one load of cold and one load of hot water at the same time.  Or one load of colors and one load of whites at the same time too:)  I also can’t wait to just use the LG SideKick by itself for my three pairs of running shorts that are my absolute favorites… I pretty much rotate through those three pairs and so I can put them in the LG SideKick for a quick wash in between my weekly laundry routine.  Washing won’t feel wasteful when I just need to do a small load or just a few pieces in the LG SideKick.  It also offers six different cycles like an active wear cycle!

I have a feeling that I will be spending a lot of time with my new toys… between the four of us now and any future kiddos—>  that is a lot of laundry to do (especially running clothes because I’m sure Knox and Brooke will want to be runners too;)

What a great idea! Imagine the uniforms you could clean in time for the next day without doing a whole load of laundry!

Reply

I would love this!! My husband and I are moving to a new place in about a month so this would be AWESOME!

Reply

Being a runner and a soon to be mama, this would be great!! It would help so much to be able to throw in a small load of dirty baby clothes or running clothes!

Reply

I would love the sidekick because in the hot Alabama weather, after a nice long run you literally look like you just finished swimming from all the sweat. And since its just me, I wont need to wait for a huge laundry pile to run a load.

Reply

How did you know my washer just recently went on the fritz and I’ve been having to go do laundry at the mat or my bfs mom’s. Triple finger cross.

I work in a hospital so laundry is 50/50 scrubs and running clothes.

Reply

I hate doing laundry and this would make laundry time so much easier!

Reply

I’d love it because of all the baby clothes!! I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old, so no clothes stay clean!

Reply

I would love this! Now that my husband and I live together (got married last fall), the laundry has doubled!!

Reply

This would be such a wonderful thing to win! I’m getting married in August too so my laundry loads will double:)

Reply

I have a 6 month old and the amount of laundry we do for such a tiny person is crazy! Would love a nice, efficient machine!

Reply

Cool idea of having a separate spot for running clothes, I would love a new washer!!

Reply

excited about this giveaway.

Reply

Ummm this washing machine looks so amazing! My boyfriend and I both do CrossFit… aka we have a TON of workout clothes in the wash too. It’d be so nice to have that separate side kick! :)

Reply

Would love this washer! I’ve got a baby on the way, so I’m seeing plenty of laundry in my future!

Reply

Oh man! Now I NEED this washer! I didn’t even know such an amazing thing exists!

Reply

I would LOVE this washer! Our washer came with the house when we bought it & doesn’t work half of the time. I actually love doing laundry (when the washer works) – I think it’s relaxing! Thank you for the opportunity to try to win!

Reply

I dont mind doing the laundry so much as I dislike folding and putting away the clothes. Now THAT is a chore . Hubs is an avid cyclist so between my running gear and his cycling gear, we have more than our fair share of workout clothes being washed.

Reply

This is great! I love making a chore I hate a little easier!

Reply

I have too much laundry and I need help.

Reply

Oh man I might even enjoy laundry if I had one!! 90% of my clothes are workout clothes…my husbands on then other hand are all dress clothes haha!

Reply

I despise sorting socks. I end up folding most of the laundry in the household but besides my own socks I just don’t bother because my wife and kids have (and wear) so many. I really want to restrict their socks. I think it would be good if they were all color coded. Each person gets socks of only one color or color variation. That would make life so much easier. I’ve suggested just doing the loads by person (todays washers are so efficient that sorting by color or temp is almost unnecessary), but it never takes. I’ve also told my wife to leave the tech clothes to me, because I keep losing expensive socks, or worse just one sock!

My oldest has a few chores but she doesn’t always pull her weight!

Reply

What an awesome giveaway, Janae, and what a fantastic way to protect running clothes!!

Reply

This would help my family out big time! Lots of laundry!

Reply

The SideKick looks amazing!

Reply

?whoa I didn’t even know this awesome LG feature existed. Super Cool feature!! I also own an LG front loader and dryer so this would be a great accessorie to add. This giveaway would be a blessinig to win coming from the cutest running couple. Congrats on all your happiness!!

Reply

I would use the LG Sidekick because we are moving into our first house and we don’t have a washer/dryer yet! I’ve actually already been eyeing the Sidekick, but it’s a little out of our price range. So free would be perfect ;)

Reply

I would love it for all of my gym clothes!

Reply

What an exciting give away! I need this!!

Reply

This will be perfect for the loads of laundry after marathon training! :)

Reply

I love the idea of only doing a small load of running cloth!!! Great give away ?

Reply

I have five kids. The end. :-)

Reply

two kids and my husband and I both are marathoners makes for about 5 loads a day!! Now if only I could find a fairy to put all the clothes away!

Reply

I would love this! Between two toddler and my workout clothes…we have a lot of laundry!

Reply

This is the best giveaway ever!!! I’m moving into a new house and need to purchase a washer and dryer… I’m excited about getting a front loader bc we’ve never had one!

Reply

I would love this. I am moving soon and this would come in so handy to have.

Reply

I have so much laundry and it’s just two of us – I swear my tech clothes basket is double the size of the whites and darks every week!

Reply

We handle chores at my house with my 3 year old being in charge of stuff he can handle. Putting dirty clothes in the laundry basket, “making” his bed, putting his shoes and stuff away, etc. He also helps set the table, “load” the dishwasher, and “wipes” the table down. The reason I’m using quotations should be clear to anyone who has had a toddler! ;)

Reply

This is very cool! We just recently bought an LG set, but I’d love the pedestal for small loads!

We just started teaching my 7 year old to do his laundry, I did my own laundry as a kid and I remember being baffled by friends in college who didn’t know how to do it on their own!

Reply

Saw this at the store and loved it-what a great idea!!

Reply

I am a fitness Instructor at Barre3….I totally get needing a small load to be washed. I get nice a sweaty during class and refuse to let sweaty, expensive workout gear sit until I have a big enough load so I wash a lot! Having a Sidekick will cut down on water use and keep my work out gear clean!! WooWoo! Congratulations on finding the perfect guy for you!!! And Andrew finding the perfect gal for him.

Reply

This is such a great idea. I’m already doing endless amounts of laundry for my husband and I, and with our first little one on the way, it’s about to increase a whole lot!

Reply

My husband and I have been going to the laundry mat for 4 years! This would be incredible!

Reply

We just bought our first house and are on the hunt for a washer/dryer!

Reply

Ah! I’m about to get married and we could really use this!!

Reply

We just bough our first house in the start of June and I finished my 2nd marathon (Grandma’s marathon in Duluth, MN!). I read your blog EVERY day. Your inspiration for running and donuts has made me push through an injury with my last marathon. We’re looking for a super user friendly washer and dryer!

Reply

The laundry struggle is so real! Especially on work days! It’s work clothes, workout clothes, lounging clothes, and maybe going out or bedclothes!

Reply

Being a runner as well, this would be perfect. Also, this would be peefect for my husbands dirty work clothes after working on his car!

Reply

I bought a new LG washer and dryer earlier this year, and regret that I didn’t buy pedestals for them. I’m constantly washing workout clothes.

Reply

I could totally use this for those in between washes of workout clothes!

Reply

This is brilliant! I hate having to do a whole load for a few pieces of athletic wear. Ugh.

Reply

I would love to have this washer because I can wash my sports bras and delicates as well as do a regular load of laundry!

Reply

That is awesome! Our washing machine makes such a loud screeching sound that we try not to run it when company is over because it always alarms them!

Reply

Our washing machine and dryer are hand me downs from my in laws so they are almost 20 years old a new set would be amazing!

Reply

The amount of workout clothes laundry I do between my husband and I is INSANE! This is awesome .. thanks so much!!

Reply

I am I and you are you, please allow me my point of view
because I enjoy your thinking too!

Reply

Anything that would make doing laundry easier would be great!!

Reply

I am a somewhat silent reader, but I’ll give this a shot! I am a single mom with three busy, beautiful little girls. With everything going on in our lives, we generate a lot of laundry (including work attire, exercise clothes, children’s clothes, and things like swim suits for the summer)! I’ve heard great things about LG!

Reply

I can’t even tell you how nice it would be to have that Sidekick! There are so many times I’ve just finished all the laundry and one of my kids spills, or pees or something and I think if I could just wash this one thing…I would be caught up!
As far as chores go, I like vacuuming and dusting (I love the smell of lemon pledge!) and I don’t mind doing laundry and folding, I just hate putting it away. And I hate bathrooms.

Reply

I would love to have this! We moved to an acreage last October and left our new front load washer and dryer at our old house for the new owners. When we moved we inherited a old washer and dryer that stayed with the house. Yes It gets the job done but oh how I miss my front load?

Reply

Reasons I would love an LG Sidekick: I have a dog and a husband. Between the fur on blankets, clothes and bed sheets, sweaty clothes and “dirt rags” I do enough laundry to clothe an army! Anything to make laundry time easier is a win for me!

Since I am the only runner in my house, probably only 35-40% of our laundry is running clothes.

I cook and clean and my husband does the yard work!

Reply

What is there not to love about a new LG sidekick! I’ve got loads of kids and loads of laundry!

Reply

I was just married and we’re in desperate need of a washer!

Reply

Not only are my guy and I both runners, but we also mountain bike, Nordic ski, kayak, etc.. And have a dog! Talk about laundry. Would love to win this!!

Reply

This is such a great idea. Love it for small loads in between the regular laundry.
We have an LG front loader but did not know that the Sidekick was available!

Reply

I was just saying I need a new washer/dryer! This one sounds great!

Reply

I have worked really hard to buy my first home alone, but need all new appliances. The place is a bit of a fixer upper, but I am so excited to take this big step forward!

Reply

It’d be great to wash my 3 workout pants like I like best!

Reply

Least favorite chore is definitely cleaning the bathrooms! I try to do it once a week so then its not too icky for me to handle, but its such a pain. I love laundry.

Reply

It’s so pretty!!! Plus I could use a new one. Mine is making noises & I fear it’s on its last leg.

Reply

My guy and I just bought our first house! This Sidekick would be such a perfect addition to our new place!

Reply

This is a great idea and would be so super helpful with uniforms and running gear!!

Reply

Oh my! I have 3 kiddos, plus one on the way. This would be AMAZING!!! Such a great giveaway :) :) :)

Reply

I use the Norwex microfiber cloths to do all of my cleaning and it would be lovely to be able to do a small load to clean them.

Reply

That looks awesome!

Reply

My daughter helps with almost all the chores. :-)

Reply

This would make my life so much easier. I feel like LG reached into my dreams to create this bad boy.

Reply

I would love one! With having a young child I am always having to wash a load because she needs to wear a certain color shirt or something for a theme day. Plus, I am a runner also and love the idea of the in btwn washes!

Reply

This is so perfect for those couple of white shirts I always have to do a whole load of laundry for!

Reply

I saw these at the store and was instantly in love! I am one of those people that wash my running clothes separate…even light/dark seperated!

Reply

The LG sidekick is awesome, we would love to have one! Baby #1 is on the way so I imagine my laundry duties are about to increase exponentially, it would be a huge help!

Reply

Im dying to get the sidekick!! My husband thinks Im nuts but I think it looks so cool haha!

Reply

This washer set would be perfect for our household. It’ll come in so handy with washing a load of smelly workout clothes or when we are doing a load and my daughter needs an item washed too.

Least favorite chores: unloading the dishwasher and cleaning the floors.

My daughter use to be all about helping around the house…but now a days she has to be asked. LOL Luckily she keeps her room very clean. :)
Having a workout buddy that enjoys doing a similar activity makes it very nice to stay motivated and consistent.

Reply

My washer just broke so this would be the most amazing gift ever.

Reply

My daughter has a lot of blowouts (tried every diaper ever, it’s just her lol), and it would be aweso,e to wash one outfit at a time without running a full cycle!

Reply

workout clothes are the bulk of my laundry and I hate putting laundry away!!

Reply

I am with Andrew on the hating laundry business! I just got married and my husband is the laundry doer in the house and I”m the bathroom cleaner! :)

Reply

Awesome giveaway!

Reply

I have three boys! Getting through laundry will be the death of me!

Reply

This would be a dream to win! With a new baby due next month this would really come in handy!! Plus I can’t wait to get back into my running gear and get out there!

Reply

What a great idea for a washer! Such convenience!

Reply

I comment to my husband everytime I fold laundry ‘where did it all go!?’ Well its all hanging to dry because its our running clothes. There’s a load going now because I need to pack “a few” running clothes for vacation.

Reply

I desperately need a new washer and dryer. I am embarassed to say how old mine or. This is a great incentive for me!!!

Reply

I have a two month old so my laundry time has increased dramatically….but we try not to miss a stroller run so the sidekick would be the most exciting and practical thing ever!!

Reply

I have wanted one of these sidekicks since i first heard about them.

Reply

This would be perfect for all my running clothes. Thanks for an awesome giveaway.

Reply

I would love this to help with all our cloth diaper loads!

Reply

I want to be able to wash my dedicates separate from my regular load of laundry. this way I can do it while using even less water and saving time.

Reply

I would love to have this! My washer and dryer are ancient and I expect them to crash anytime now. I am constantly doing laundry so my running clothes don’t stink up the hamper!

Reply

I would love to be able to get 2 loads done at once. This would make laundry fun!

Reply

We definitely need this! We just purchased our first house and have no appliances! As the clothes washer of the house, this would benefit me so much!

Reply

We have three kids, about to have our fourth, the sidekick would be glorious!

Reply

I love running with my husband! We just had our 8 year anniversary and started it with a run together! Some of our best dates are racing and hanging out after.

I don’t mind laundry one bit! And with 2 runners in the house, we totally have running laundry!

My least favorite chores are also bathroom…

Reply

So awesome! I’d love to win because my husband got me a separate hamper for my running clothes – if he found out they wouldn’t ever have to touch his stuff, he would be THRILLED! :-D

This is the coolest thing ever. I’d love to lessen my laundry load.

I would love one! Living in the Arizona heat, you get sweaty quick!

Reply

I would LOVE to win. Having two little girls who love to play outside would make this the perfect washer for our house!

Reply

I had no idea this was a thing! What a great idea!

Reply

I would use this so much!! Great idea.

Reply

upgraded technology and would make doing laundry easier

Reply

We just bought a brand new LG washer and dryer and I LOVE them!!! We didn’t get the sidekick due to the price, but I would love to add it!! Between workout clothes for us, a baby, and a toddler- we have tons of laundry and sometimes I just need to wash a few small things (toddlers are SO messy!!!). I would also love to wash my nicer shirts/delicates in the sidekick. I try to wait until I have a decent load before I wash them so the sidekick would be awesome for that!

Reply

How cool! I have 3 kids and my husband and I workout everyday = lots of laundry! The sidekick would be perfect for us! And I’m with you, I don’t mind doing laundry, but yard work, no thank you!

Reply

how cool! i have tons of sweat-soaked laundry and could definitely use a sidekick!

Reply

Hey… So happy for you.
Just a note on the washer in case no one has told you. Make sure to use HE Turbo laundry detergent. The suds collapse so much faster than the regular HE detergents. It can cut the time of washing a load dramatically . I was SO skeptical of the ads for that type of thing until I tried it. I’ll never go back. It really speeds up the process.

Reply

Our washer and dryer are so small and inefficient that I feel like i’m always doing laundry! I woudl love to win a new set!

Reply

I would love this! We just bought a house AND we are expecting twins so we’re about to have tons of laundry!

Omg. Dream come true!! My laundry is never ending!!!!

Reply

We are on well water so sometimes on heavy water usage days, I have to monitor the amount of laundry I wash. The sidekick would be a great way to wash the essentials!

Between my husband and I we have lots of workout clothes to wash. The LG sidekick would be so awesome to have!!!

Reply

Reply

I’d love to win a sidekick! I was just reading up on it the other day!

Reply

A Sidekick would be awesome for my favs that I feel like I wash several times a week :)

Reply

As a mother with kids in multiple sports I am constantly doing laundry a great washer has been on my list for some time now but has not been in the budget. We recently moved twice in one year from out of state to renting to finally buying our first home. Since we rented, we always used the washer and dryer that came with the rental. When we bought our home 2 months ago, the homeowner left us theirs but did I mention my grandmother had the same set when I was kid – sure brought back memories. Plus LG products look so awesome!

Reply

My husband and I both wear uniforms. The rest of the time we are in some sort of fitness apparel…running, spin class, dirt bikes. This would be a perfect addition to our LG washer/dryer. Save time so we can spend it together!

Reply

This would be perfect for having a little one around too. Their clothes are so small, it’s tough to make a full load so would be great to have a smaller load option.

Love seeing your joy during this exciting time with your fiancee – it shines through all the pics!

Reply

Yes! Yes! Yes! A million times yes I need one of those!

Reply

What a great way to wash small loads of things like running clothes and undergarments. I do not like to fold or put away laundry or clean bathrooms. I live with my 8 year old and she helps by putting her clothes and the dishes away.

Reply

This would change my life completely!! We’ve stuck with our old machines for the past ten years and I’d love to experience the front loaders! ☺️

Reply

I would love this to go with my LG front loader. It would be so nice to have the flexibility it offers!!

Reply

With two boys AND workout clothes from both me and my husband – a new machine would be SO wonderful!

Reply

Would love to use this to wash my scrubs!

Reply

The LG SideKick would be perfect for those small loads especially for my husband’s fire department clothes that I don’t want to mix with ours! I can see the LG SideKick coming in very handy in my house!

Reply

Kids + running = never ending loads of laundry.
I would love a sidekick

Reply

I think this is amazing and a unique concept from LG. Between 3 kids and a husband, I am constantly doing laundry. The Sidekick would make doing laundry a little easier, and faster.

This would be amazing! I’m pregnant with twins and I have a feeling I will be doing lots more laundry!
