I have LOVED all of your comments today on this morning’s post! Andrew has read them all too:) THANK YOU from both of us. We are stoked and can’t wait to keep sharing with you guys!
Now, I’ve got a lot of tangents to discuss with you right now!
1. I’ve been back to using the Launch 3s again just for fun and still loving them. Treadmill run at home (I have both kiddos today which makes my heart happy) so the treadmill is even more so my best friend.
2. Every time she jumps on the tramp:
3. These socks of hers are worn as much as possible, even with her jelly sandals (PLEASE tell me that you had a pair of these as a kid).
4. We took lunch over to my sister’s house and leave it to her to cut up fresh mango to top our salads.
5. My dad and Andrew peel their grapefruit? I have never done that before… I always eat it with a spoon. Anyone else?
6. My sister LOVED these when she was a teenager and because I always copied everything she loved to eat… I do now too. I just forget they exist but I don’t think a lot of people love them.
7. 3.7 = the age that you feel the need to jump off of anything and everything.
8. Tomorrow is GLOBAL RUNNING DAY AHHHHH!!! How are you celebrating? LOVING all of these stories about running from around the globe!
–
9. Chicken and rice and The Office made for a great 10 pm dinner last night.
10. Yes, yes there should be.
11. Andrew’s sis-in-law sent over her perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe… they were crazy good. I thought I would share them with you in case you are on the hunt for some good cookies!
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks butter (I like the salted kind) melted
Mix.
2 eggs
Mix.
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp water mixed with one tsp baking soda.
3 cups flour (I usually mix one cup at a time)
3/4 bag of chocolate chips (I like ghirardelli best)
Bake at 350 for exactly ten minutes. Take them out and let them finish cooking on the pan. I like the dough chilled for at least an hour but they are still good when you don’t.
12. This dog looks like Andrew’s dog and it makes me happy.

How will you be celebrating Global Running Day tomorrow?
Chocolate licorice? Yay or nay. Black licorice? Yay or nay.
What is your Tuesday Tangent?!

Linda @ The Fitty
Have you tried cutting cubes into mangoes? I just suggest this because it looks appealing on a salad and you’re not using a cutting board!
Sarah @ SarahRuns26
How can you NOT celebrate Global Running Day!?
No to licorice in general. It’s one candy I don’t have a problem saying no to! And Good ‘n Plenty. Yuck!
That’s what my hair looks like when I jump on the trampoline with the kids too! Yesterday we put the sprinkler under the trampoline and basically had a big water party. It was awesome. It would have been more awesome if I’d planned on getting soaked and had other clothes to wear the rest of the day. Oops.
I peel my grapefruit, but I also peel off the membrane off each piece. I eat it with a spoon sometimes too, so I can see both ways!
Hollie
I’ve never been a twizzler fan. It just tastes like air to me LOL. I might need to try the chocolate flavor though and see if my decision has changed.
I’m taking a running break but I might run a mile or something tomorrow. We are hosting a huge event for work so I think I’ll get my running fill for the day.
Glad everything is going well Janae.
Rachel @ Vet Tech Runner
I will be celebrating tomorrow by running hills with my dog!
Chocolate licorice: Ehh maybe. Black licorice: NAY
I LOVE the cherry licorice that peels though and the watermelon flavor is decent too. Overall not a HUGE licorice fan
Nicole
ooo thanks for the cookie recipe!
Carmen
My birthday is August 20th!! Congrats to you and Andrew! So happy for all of you!! Where do I get a bib like that?
The Hungry Runner Girl
HEY!!! That is a pretty awesome day for a birthday:) THANKS CARMEN!! Brooks sent them to me and I could send you one but it will take a few days to get to you… send me your address if you would like!
Carmen
That’s nice of you! I just found the Brooks Facebook page where I can download a similar one so I’ll just go ahead and do that. I have a friend who loves to run and hasn’t been able lately. She just finished her last chemo treatment and I want to dedicate those miles to her. Thanks for offering though! ?
The Hungry Runner Girl
Oh I didn’t know they were on there… good to know! Thanks Carmen and that is amazing that you are dedicating those miles to her. Have a beautiful run and I hope she is back to running and health as soon as possible.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff
I am working from home tomorrow morning while the dog is at the groomer so I plan on a run during that window. Global running day will get a few miles contribution from me :)
Tuesday tangent is I hate when senior employees have no respect of their team. Just reply to the meeting invite. Yes or no. It’s that simple. Sigh :(
Meredith @ the cookie chrunicles
I love that there are so many ways to make chocolate chip cookies! And I actually like black licorice. Most people don’t!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Chocolate twizlers :O
Angela
Congratulations!! Andrew’s dog is the cutest, what’s his name? (That’s the most important question to me! lol)
The Hungry Runner Girl
HAHAH that is a very important question! Her name is Beretta!! Hope you are having a beautiful day Angela!
Sara
I am so happy for you and Brooke!!! She’s got an extra reason to jump around with joy this week ;) so glad you mentioned Running Day tomorrow…now I definitely can’t skip my run!!
Jenny
Jelly shoes! They made your feet stink and gave you blisters but I loved them anyway.
Laura
No on black licorice!! Or anything tasting like black licorice!
I always peel my grapefruit too, I eat it like an orange.
Have to run tomorrow, it’s the law. ?
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
Of course I’m running on Global Running Day! And eating a donut on National Donut day a couple days later.
I’m not a licorice fan at all. Never even as a child!
Loribeth
Most twizzlers=yes……chocolate ones=no. Tomorrow I am running in prep for my half on Saturday!
Caroline
Hahaha! The trampoline hair! Love it! And amazing photo skills, BTW!
Jelly sandals were the best! I remember jumping into the pool with them on!
Yes to chocolate licorice!!! There is a bag ‘lost” in my house right now…one night I was totally craving it and my husband got it for me. But I didn’t end up eating it. And since that night, the bag has been completely missing!! We haven’t a clue where it could be. Might have to start a search for it now…
Cait
Ok first of all congratulations…amazing.Wish you guys a lifetime of happiness.
I love red twizzlers, black licorice…I would try the chocolate.not sure but I pretty much love all gummy/chewy candy, except for taffy, which is just so wrong.
Um I am old so we had jelly sandals in Jr high they were very hip, with parachute pants and other 80s nightmares.
Choc chip cookie recipe looks amaze.I just made some last night but as soon as we get done eating them I’ll be making these!
Corrinne
Congratulations to you and Andrew and the kiddos too (human and furry)! Are those chocolate chip cookies chewy or crunchy?
The Hungry Runner Girl
Thank you Corrine!! These ones are super chewy… seriously amazing!!! Try them and let me know!
Kaytlin
Global running day will be spent running by myself that morning then running with the man later that day. If he one-steps me again…ohhhh….
Black licorice is amazing to me.
Tangent for the day: Almost graduated with dead legs from a 15 miler yesterday which means I am a walking zombie but at least my eyebrows look halfway decent yay!
Amanda B @ Cupcakes & Miles
Chocolate licorice?! What?! I didn’t know such a thing existed. I’m going to have to investigate this! And black licorice… Yuck!
I cannot wait for Global Running Day! It falls on the same day as our weekly fun run, so it’s going to be a blast!
Emma @myfullfatlife
I am excited for global running day! I need to get running earlier as we are in the middle of heat wave this week in CA.
Natalie
Definitely NO to the licorice, but I can’t wait to make those cookies for people!
Tuesday Tangent: I really need this guy to either ask me out or stop playing with my heart. It’s so frustrating!!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
I have never seen chocolate licorice. Where have I been?!?
Kristina Running
I think Brooke is smart to wear socks with her jelly sandals. I definitely remember wearing them as a kid and I remember they always gave me blisters! I wish I had been as smart of Brooke and thought to wear socks with them!
Hmm I don’t know about this Andrew guy, or this guy you call your dad tbh. Who peels a grapefruit? It’s a suspicious act! :D :D
Angie @ Run Which Way
Yep. I had jelly shoes.
I will run tomorrow but not sure what the plan is yet.
Not a fan of chocolate or black licorice but I love red vines.
My tangent: why oh why do people insist on throwing cigarette butts out their car window??? Such a peeve of mine and I yelled out my window at two people for doing it today. Lol.
Jaime
In the pic of Brooke’s jelly shoe I totally noticed the bobby pin on the ground. I have 3 daughters, plus me, and there are always bobby pins on the floor! Haha! :)
Bron
First, congratulations on your engagement! So lovely and exciting! And second, have you googled donut wedding cakes yet? They look soooo good….! And that’s one part of the planning done! Ha :-)
Crystal
I totally peel my grapefruits also! I find it way easier to peel all of the bitter membrane off ;)
Taylor
I always cut my grapefruit up… I feel like I get more of it that way and it doesn’t spray me in the eyes! I definitely had jellies when I was little. Love the picture of Brooke on the trampoline!!! that is the best!
Nina
Did you know that Global Running Day and National Donut Day fall on the same day? Interesting
I’m volunteering at the Open Run to celebrate National Running Day. My foot hurts so no running at the moment. I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t have done Zumba either.
I liked chocolate licorice when I was a kid but I don’t any more. :)
I also peel my grapefruit. I eat with a spoon when I throw it under the broiler to make grapefruit brulee.
Rachelle
I’ve been on vacation and wow! a lot can happen in a week. Congratulations!
I wish I was running today on Global Running Day. I’m still dealing with a hip strain. One month ago today I ran a painful 13.1 and I’m still not back. Today for Global Running Day I am going to order some new Brooks because I know that very soon I will be able to use them!
Natalie
My mom loved those chocolate licorice so every time I see them, I think of her.
Christina Witczak
Just freaked when I saw the picture of the ship in the back ground of the photo where Brooke is jumping off the couch. I swear that same picture was in my house when I was growing up. Too funny.
Congratulations to the cutest couple ever. Thanks for giving hope to a single mom who prays every day for Prince Charming. Maybe he will be at the next race. :)
Lisa @ exercise eat repeat
It is so lovely to see you so happy. Brings joy to my heart.
Today I will be running with friends and enjoying every step.
Rachel S
I just read you proposal story and squeed out loud, my coworkers probably think I am nuts. So excited for you!
Emma
I wish I could celebrate Global Running Day with a lovely countryside run but I’m injured, but I will wish everyone else a lovely run
Dottie (@crazyfitmommy)
Lol I totally peel my grapefruit too — you get soooo much more than when you use a spoon, and it’s actually much easier once you get used to it :P
