I think that all of this sunshine that we are experiencing is Mother Nature’s Birthday Month gift to me. PS my birthday is on Friday the 13th this year… hmmmmm.
Just lounging next to a pool (for 3 minutes) with the pool cover on because there should be a foot of snow instead of 55 degree weather.
Ash and I went to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Ashley was my very first friend that I met through blogging and it was meant to me. I started this blog because I was bored while taking some time away from running after a marathon and it has brought me some of my very best friends.
I was really into making interesting faces yesterday or something but… She still falls asleep in my arms and it will always be my favorite even if my left bicep will be sore for about a week after holding her for so long.
Brooke and I stopped by our happy place for some essentials. I’m telling ya, walking isn’t an option for Brookers.
And after dinner we got a cone of the good stuff. She has skilllllzzzzzzz.
And just in case you are needing a Quest Bar or two you can just head on over to Megan’s house because she has just a few right now…
I’m taking a rest day today. I love having somewhat fresh legs for the long run!
As I have let you know (many many times), the long run has been really tough for me. I have been loving speed work and all of my other runs but the long run lately has been more challenging than previous training cycles. I have been coming up with a mental list of things to do to make this week’s long run the best ever.
Turning my mental list into a blog list. Ready, go.
-I’m going to stop telling myself that long runs are hard for me lately. The way we think affects everything we do. Just replacing the thoughts of how hard the run is going to be with neutral thoughts about it will make a huge difference.
-Keep up with and pay attention to my fueling. I am usually with people on my long runs and I get too into the conversations and forget to start fueling early enough. Of course my long runs aren’t going to feel super great when I am not fueling for them properly.
-Cut the run into segments in my brain. We are doing 17 this weekend and breaking it down to 5, 5 and 7 makes it sound way easier than 17.
-Set up a reward for finishing. I mean, it has been way too long since my last apple fritter and a nap during Brooke’s nap also sounds like a great reward after getting up crazy early to run.
-I’m going to remember that the long run is all about time on my feet. My pace doesn’t need to be fast, I’ve done some great speed work this week so I should focus on just getting in some endurance work and forget about the time!
-I’ll spend today (the day before the long run) getting some foam rolling in, drinking loads of water (and no soda) and putting myself to bed early.com.
-I’ve gotta remember that running isn’t easy. It takes a whole lot of work and consistency to get to our goals! I’m just thankful to be out there running!
And just like that, the long run is going to go great.
