The whole sleeping thing didn’t really happen Friday, Brooke had a fever. What child is still smiling with a fever? She was extremely cuddly though. Cuddling with Brooke > than me sleeping.
She did feel well enough for our daily tradition of discussing important things while we eat apples and almond butter together
I usually take Fridays off completely but during Brooke’s nap I just needed to get out and do something, I was having cabin fever… Elliptical and 20 minutes of strength training did the trick.
I solved two problems yesterday by eating my soup directly out of the pan:
1. I am lazy and didn’t want to do an extra dish.
2. We don’t have a bowl big enough to fit all of the soup and this way I didn’t have to get up to get seconds.
This was the TJ’s minestrone soup and I always add spinach to the soup while it is cooking.
I’ve really been into this whole ‘make bread every day’ thing lately.
Please tell me that you get really excited when you notice that you have two ripe bananas because you know that means it is time to make those babies into banana bread. Recipe HERE.
The recipe doesn’t tell you to add chocolate chips on top but I strongly encourage/recommend/think it is necessary to do so.
Friday night has just become pizza night for me. I swear it makes my long run the next day feel really good. It is my secret weapon.
Thai Chicken and Bacon Chicken Ranch… Both incredible.
Time to knock out 20ish miles! No tempo, no speed, just easy miles with the girls followed by sitting in the river for an ice bath. Sounds like a perfectly normal way to spend a Saturday morning to me.
Have an amazing Saturday!! Eat something extra delicious today.

Oh man, that pizza looks delicious. My husband and I used to celebrate Pizza Sundays but haven’t in a while. We might need to reinstate that soon! And apple and almond butter is the best snack in the world.
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
I hope Brooke gets to feeling better very soon! My daughter was sick last night too, but she didn’t look near that happy. ;) Good luck on those 20 miles!

My son was always super snuggling and sweet when he was Brooke’s age and sick. In fact, I always knew when he was coming down with something because he would suddenly slow down and be so sweet and pleasant rather than making me chase him all over the place…boys. lol
Michelle Kim
Have a great 20ish miles with the girls! Love doing nice and easy long runs with running friends. It really makes the miles go by much faster!
tess
there’s a gluten free pizza place in Denver and I think I have to make it my priority. All these pizza posts are killing me.
Also…I’m missing my little grandson. But I do appreciate the smiles of Brooke to tide me over. The first one is priceless. I hope she’s feeling better.
Elizabeth {Positively Healthy}
Pizza is my secret weapon as well!! I love it for my Sunday morning long run! I hope Brooke feels better!!

I will do my best to find something delicious. It’s a struggle, but someone has to do it!
Lauren
I’m surprised you got the Thai pizza because anything with the word “Thai” might make your stomach turn. Lol!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! for spreading awareness on how DELICIOUS and NECESSARY chocolate chips are when you are making banana bread! I mix them straight into the recipe every time and people always say I’m “crazy” or “those flavors don’t mix”. What doesn’t mix with chocolate?! Come on people! So glad to FINALLY see someone (other than my daughter!) agrees with me! :)
Loribeth
20 miles is tough, no matter who you are………….good job!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
I love when I have ripe bananas to bake with! I hope Brooke is feeling better. Have a great 20 miler!
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust
Banana bread is SO good! I am a really picky banana eater, so as soon as they become even a little brown or soft I won’t eat them unless they are mixed in with something else (smoothie, bread, etc.). Have a great run and give Brooke lots of get-well hugs!
Sarah
I don’t really eat bananas unless they are in bread form! I also add chocolate chips to my zucchini bread. Delicious!
Doni
I hope the Brookers feels better very soon! In the meantime, enjoy the extra cuddles!
I will be taking my mom on the Napa wine train, so I’m expecting very good eating today!
Have a great 20 miler!
Maura
That pizza looks amazing! Have a great weekend and happy mothers day!
Kristina @ Blog About Running
Eating pizza the night before a long run is so bad for me… but eating Chinese food is good fuel haha. I love chicken and broccoli with brown rice!
Hope you had a great 20 this morning!
Jen@milesandblessings
Hope Brooke feels better! I was able to do 13 miles today nearly pain free and rain free :)…It was a great morning…now onto making Mother’s Day gifts for church tomorrow!!!!

Sometimes I eat soup straight from the pan too- win win :) I love adding a bit of bulk with spinach!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan
Sick babies are so sad! The sick time cuddling is pretty nice though.
We had a picnic at my work today, I ate an unhealthy number of cookies. But they were delicious! :)

Way to go on your 20+ miles today! That’s amazing! I ran 5 this morning, and that was tough for me ha! And that pizza by the way, looks Uh-mazing!!!!

Oh man, how rough was 20 miles on no sleep?!? Hope Brooke feels better today!
I had an amazing Saturday morning – I ran three miles and only walked ONCE! Seems pathetic compared to your miles/pace, but I’m just so happy to be running often enough again to actually run my whole run!! Have a great Saturday!!
Karen
I feel you on the bananas! Except I hate baking, so I freeze them to make banana bread later…currently have 5 batches of old bananas in my freezer.
Christina
Feel better baby girl. Have an awesome Mommys day! Yay for running mamas!!
Amy @ Life to the Full
Banana bread is my favorite! Chocolate chips on top sounds amazing. My family and I had Panera after the half marathon today. The Thai chicken flatbread sandwich was delicious!
Happy early Mother’s Day!

You are quite the baker of recent, impressed and inspired.
Saturday we made yummy nachos to nibble at while we started an intense game of Monopoly. Followed by by chorizo, bacon , lentil and veg soup with a crusty baguette from the oven. Was fantastic fun with the whole family.
Nicole
PS. a big Happy Mothers Day to you!!
Heading to bed now after enjoying a great one here in Australia!!

I used to LOVE bananas but lately the thought of them kind turns my stomach…not sure what happened but need to fix it ASAP!
Kay
I bought that TJ’s soup recently thanks to your recommendation here, I’m excited to try it!
Amy Wallin
I love love love the idea of Pizza for a pre-race carbo load. I will definitely be trying that this week, and thank you for reminding me that banana bread is amazing and I should definitely use my ripe bananas for that instead of my usual smoothies! :)
