I opened my Christmas present early on accident (actually, I couldn’t wait and made the conscious decision to open up my present from Brooks early, it wasn’t even close to an accident).
The beautiful new PureFlow 3s. Those are going to look real good on my feet.
Today I was just hanging out with mis madre and she said out of nowhere… Brooke is now a toddler. The below two examples prove her point to be true even though I refuse to believe it.
1. She can now open doors.
2. She wants the whole banana and doesn’t need me to cut it into little pieces for her anymore. Next thing you know it and she’ll be in Kindergarten.
My quinoa creation is going to be around for the next 10 meals because I made way too much and I refuse to waste food.
Dinner was put together in 10 seconds.
My sister and her family came over for brownies and ice cream after dinner. We showed that brownie pan who is boss.
Yesterday’s tradition has kind of been an all month tradition but we will count it as yesterday’s… Brooke and I have been reading from A Christ Centered Christmas every night and I am really enjoying it.
A reader sent this picture of her amazing find. I will hunt these down and fill my own stocking with them.
And then I started something very therapeutic last night. Lots of deleting old posts:) It felt real good.
While going through old posts I found this picture of me and Brooke and it made me really happy. I miss San Francisco and in January my sis and I are going to be there for a mini girls weekend together. I can’t wait to show her my favorite spots.
What is on your Christmas list this year?
What book have you been reading lately?
Favorite Christmas candy?
Elizabeth @ My Neon Running Shoes
Brooke was so tiny! Crazy how fast they grow. Keep up the therapeutic deleting!!! My favorite Christmas candy is by far the cadbury mini eggs. They only make them at Easter and Christmas so I make sure to stock up!
SWEDISH FISH CANDY CANES?! I don’t like regular candy canes but now I think I’m going to make sure those are the ones my mom buys for the tree. I actually have nothing on my Christmas list. It makes it difficult when people ask what I want, but I usually just buy something if I want it. Next year when I’m not a college student anymore I’ll probably have a list a mile long since i”ll have to pay for everything myself ;)
I found the candy canes at Target and they are yummy! I knew Janae would appreciate them!
Emma @ Culturecopia
Deleting old posts must feel great. I am reading The Wolf of Wall Street right now. It’s a crazy book but I’m really enjoying it, and ultimately there is a good message to be read: excess of anything is never beneficial. I think they are making a movie out of it too.
Abby @ Change of Pace
Brooke is a toddler now! Probably scary how quickly she’s growing up!
I have a bosu ball and new base layers on my wish list!
I think it’s good to delete posts that are no longer relevant or appropriate to your blog. There are some posts from college that I don’t feel necessary to be there anymore. I’ve been reflecting on college the last few days though randomly. It’s funny because I remember following your blog way back in 2011, random but hasn’t blogging changed so much since then?
Also random but have you seen/heard about the bacon candy canes?
Leslie @ My Life Begins at 30?
Bacon candy canes?!?! That sounds amazing. Where did you find them?
Kristina @ Fast and Foodiest
I’ve been reading Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch- I am loving it so far. I haven’t had a ton of time to read- but man, she’s got me hooked. I’m glad I have it on my kindle- I seriously have only had .2 secs to read in the last few days!
Gift I really really really hope I get- a new zip-up running jacket! I’ve trashed my old ones and it is tiiiime.
As a newer follower- I just love love love the pics of Brooke! She is such a peach!
Christmas list….mmm…I always have a hard time asking for things. I’m better at taking care of everyone else. Mom syndrome. I would say since I’m a newbie runner (started in July), I would love any running attire. So I don’t have to always wear the same things over and over. :)
Haven’t read a book book in a while. My mom did just give me “Silent Night” and I started it.
Christmas Candy? Anything chocolate/caramel or peanut butter. Yummm
I love the San Fran pic!! What a view and it looks like where you at is a great place to hang out, relax, read, run, etc…
Wendy @ New Moms Talk
I don’t have much on my Christmas list, but one small take-care-of-my-skin item. It almost seems silly to share, but a loofah.
I don’t need much. We have a beautiful home on a gorgeous piece of land less than a mile from the beach. My hub and I work from home, so our daughter is our focus. We live in a town where she makes friends with everyone and chases deer, gulls, raccoons, etc.
The only other thing on my list might be time… Time for just me, as I’m a fiercely independent person and being around my family all day means I’m focusing on them in every moment.
Time to just drive to the beach and sit for 20 minutes or 30 even. Time to explore a new trail solo and to photograph it. Time to have pure stillness. or maybe.. Time to paint the living room without busy fingers exploring the paint. :-)
Wendy @ New Moms Talk
PS Christmas came early today!
I went into the kitchen to grab some breakfast this morning and saw that the pile of three-days-old dishes were done and put away by my husband last night!
Back story- We’ve been working on the yard for about 3 months, but this past Saturday-Tuesday we put some final touches of 5-10 hour days on some parts of it. I’d let the dishes go purposefully and told my hub I’d do them today.
When I saw those dishes done and realized that I didn’t have to do them, that he did them when I was sleeping blew me away and I nearly cried tears of joy and gratitude. Merry Christmas in a moment!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
Bluetooth headphones was on my Christmas list this year, but I couldn’t wait and bought them for myself last night!! Cannot wait to try them!
My favorite Christmas candy is fudge. Homemade, simple fudge.
Heather @ Run Eat Play
I just saw those Swedish Fish candy canes at the store yesterday!! But my kids wanted the WarHeads candy canes!
How cute is Brooke’s headband! I love it!!
My favorite Christmas candy is peppermint bark!
Megan @ Meg Go Run
Sweedish fish candy canes!? OKay I am totally going to look for these…
I got them at Target!
Sanaz @ runforcake
She’s a big girl now! I love the color of those shoes!!!
I need everything from lululemon for Christmas, another pair of Toms and a purse. I haven’t bought one in a while, I think a nice black purse is much needed.
Michelle @ 3cheaprunners
I think Christmas is a great excuse to enjoy a Lindor chocolate…or 2…or the box ;)
Run Charly Run
Those new Brooks PureFlow 3’s just shot straight up to the top of my list! Can’t wait to hear from you how they are!
It is crazy how fast they grow!! You are doing a great job adopting to your new surroundings and Brooker looks happy!
On my list is a Ninja! My food processor broke and I am so excited for it. I have been ripping through Susan Elizabeth Phillips books lately. I have one paper copy going and then I am listening to another one on my long runs!
Not a huge candy person, I will take baked goods any day though!
Kari @ Running Ricig
Those candy canes look amazing!! I need to find them too!
My christmas list is mostly stuff to furnish the baby’s room. I can’t actually think of anything I want for myself.
Danica @ It's Progression
My favorite Christmas treat is the big variety of cookies that we have at our big Christmas Eve dinner. I don’t really like candy (chocolate is a different story), and I much prefer the baked goods :)
Cori @ olivetorun
Target has the swedish fish candy canes… I bought them for my students… along with sour patch kids and war head ones too #1 Teacher Award? I think so!
I’ve been to CA twice but not to San Fran yet… It’s on my list!
Runner Girl Eats
Ugh she’s so big! And getting cuter every day :) all I want for Christmas is to hang with my fiancé and family. Quality time is better than anything under the tree!
mary @ minutes per mile
i just finished the book theif, and am moving onto a picture of dorian gray! both are good and different. deleting posts is therapeutic! go for it!!
Matt @ Runner Savvy
The Pure Flows 3’s are out? Time to order a pair!
Love Brooke’s hair band!
I agree , even though you don’t want to delete your past, that is a very therapeutic step!
I’m iff on holidays today- so if I don’t check in again- merry merry Christmas!
Obviously my mind is already on a break!
Brooke sure knows her momma ;) Love the gift, and don’t blame you for opening it early. I can’t get over how adorable Brooke is. I mean, she’s been cute her whole life, but this toddler age is beyond precious!
Blaire @ Just Been Running
Hold on…can we talk about Brooke’s headband for one second!? Literally the cutest thing in the World! It has been so amazing watching her transform throughout your blog…I’ve been reading since you just found out you were pregnant and it’s just amazing to see her grow up (through the computer :))!
I am reading Lord of the Rings right now…dorky I know, but I love it :)!
My favorite candy is Hot Tamales, Sugar Babies, Reeses, anything dark chocolate, and I really love the Hershey’s Candy Cane kisses…so good!
I am reading a bunch of different books! I start one then start another and go back to an old one and just keep that pattern; however, Brain Training for Runners is top on my list! Love it so far!
OMG! Brook’s headband… I can’t even. She really is THE absolute cutest child I’ve ever seen!!! Have a great Thursday Janae! :)
My favorite candy for ALL seasons is sour patch kids :)
I’ve got a new garmin on my Christmas list this year!!
Kristina @ Blog About Running
I am reading Mindy Kaling’s book! I love The Mindy Project and didn’t even realize she had a book until I saw it on your blog. Thank you for bringing this book into my life :)
I love that book too! She is soooo funny!
Nicole @Pink Elephant on Parade
I love the chocolate oranges because not only are they tasty but there’s something very satisfying about whacking it on the table really hard.
I can’t wait for the weekend–I get to do festive, holiday things like bake and watch Christmas movies. I miss doing the regular holiday activities with my mom…
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Brooke is just TOO MUCH in that adorable headband! I love it.
I have been reading no books lately other than the Bible… Probably should fix that. I mean, the Bible is great and all, but I should probably start trying to read more. :/
Favorite Christmas candy would be Reese’s Trees…obviously. ;)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I seriously can’t believe how much Brooke has grown. I mean, I know that’s what kids do, but I still remember her when she was all tiny with crazy spiky hair. Either way, she’s still absolutely adorable :)
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun
No books right now just finished my last one but am looking for new ones! Ideas??
I have a lot of running items on my list and a Keurig! Coffee and running two of my very favorite things!
I just finished Me Before You and loved it! Brooke is growing so fast!
Some Navajo leggings, that I bluntly guided the boyfriend into buying ;). I’m reading The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks!! Love this book, I’m going to be very sad when I finish it. I love that last picture of you and Brooke, she always seems to be smiling :) Favorite candy, candy canes, but they have to be the old fashioned peppermint ones! I like to buy them after Christmas when they are $.25 :)
Kristy @ Kristy's Health Revolution
Brooke in that headband is going to make my head explode from cute overload!
Lindsay @ Typically Late
OH my gosh, that picture of Brooke with the banana and her headband on…. too much! She is so big!
So many great things in this post, must find Swedish fish candy canes & a headband like Brooke’s for my granddaughter, so cute!!! My favorite is the fact you are doing therapeutic deleting… :)
I can’t wait to hear how you like the new shoes! I just bought the Pure Flows a week or two ago and love them already. Also, Swedish Fish candy canes sound pretty epic!
Brooke’s headband!!!!! She’s my hair inspiration today. :)
Deleting things can be so… Cathartic. I spent a day a few years ago after a traumatic trust breaking incident, just me, iPhoto, and the delete key. The relief was almost immediate and I have no regrets.
You guys are always in my thoughts.:)
What’s on my Christmas list… lots of kitchen gadgets.
I’m reading Does this Church Make me Look Fat. I’m just getting into it the first part of the book, but it isn’t bad too far.
Brooke’s headband is adorable.
Kelly in Canada
I saw those candy canes at Target!! My favourite Christmas candy is Purdy’s chocolate! It’s a Canadian store and SO yummy! Their specialty is the hedgehog, which is hazelnut chocolate. :)
I’m not a poster, but I read daily. I just had to comment on the deleting old posts. When my ex and I broke up after 12 years, I went through old pictures on my computer (had copies on a backup hard drive, so they actually still exist) and cropped him out of every one. It felt fantastic and I felt so free. It was a great turning point in my healing process. I hope you felt the same way.
Favorite Christmas Candy: old fashioned vanilla creme drops. My Grandad always had them for us and they remind me of him.
Christmas list = running stuff, I’m pretty boring ;)
I’m currently reading the Orchardist, but I haven’t quite gotten into it yet.
My fav Christmas candy is probably dark chocolate covered cherries. Yum.
Brooke is so tiny! I love San Fran as well, minus the parking. Blech.
Elizabeth @ Positive Change
I am sure that deleting was hard but it is going to be so much better for you!
I just wish for my family to be happy and healthy this season!
I am reading a Nicholas Sparks book right now: The Wedding
Candy Canes all the way
Linda @ running4two
Hmm, I want a tablet, new running clothes, and I’ve been eyeing that awesome purse that you have. I hope Santa had a good financial year. ;-)
I haven’t been reading much lately….besides kid’s books. :)
Favorite Christmas Candy: red and green peanut M&Ms. They taste even better in Christmas colors.
Katie @ Bevo Loves an Aggie
Brooke definitely is a toddler! Her little headwrap is so cute, but it makes her look so grown up!
I don’t have much on my Xmas list…mainly boring, adult stuff!
I just read “Reconstructing Amelia” and it was good! A teen read. :)
I love the Cadburry Christmas candies!
Currently reading Jen Lancaster’s IF YOU WERE HERE. It’s making me laugh out loud!
I know deleting past posts was difficult for you, but it’s also really good!!! Congrats for doing that! Why is Brooke growing up so fast. :( I love your new shoes. I am getting a new pair of boots for Xmas…ok lets be honest…I GOT a new pair of boots for Xmas and have already worn them!
Leah @ Running with the Hayneses
Yeah, this year my husband and I bought Christmas presents for ourselves on Black Friday and didn’t even bother saving them for Christmas. Oh well. :)
My favorite Christmas candy is the Junior Mint Peppermint Crunch or the Candy Cane Tootsie Pops.
I respect you for deleting the old posts. I’m sure that was hard but you are amazing!!!
Just have to say Brooke’s headband is the absolute cutest thing ever! And she looks so much like your mom. Beautiful!
I was just thinking yesterday and how much older Brooke looks! It’s sad to see them leave the baby stage, but every stage gets better and better:)
I have been reading Allegiant..for the past month! I have been so busy and haven’t had a chance to read it. Going to finish it before 2014 comes:)
My favorite Christmas candy is my late grandma’s english toffee. It is so amazingly yummy!
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs
Brooke is definitely looking grown up these days — especially in comparison to that last photo!
Off to hunt down those candy canes…. :)
Ahh!! I want those Pure Flow 3’s! I am waiting to get new shoes until they are released…
Awwwww, Brooke looks JUST like you with her headband on!
I would love to say they grow up so fast…but MAN sometimes it feels like they are around forever. ;) My teenage son talked for 4 hours last night. I am not kidding. It’s not as cute at sixteen. LOL Although he is pretty freakin’ adorable so I guess I can’t complain.
Enjoy the cathartic experience of deleting blog posts. I encourage you…
And thanks again for the Brookeness.
I had a Ghirardelli peppermint bark chocolate bar last night and it was just amazing. I just finished The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult, and it was so good, I couldn’t put it down! I have a problem where I think of tons of stuff I want for Christmas. Except when someone asks me. Then my mind goes blank.
Casey @ stayingonpace
Currently reading: orange is the new black
Awesome! Glad you’re coming out to SF in January :)
I currently live in SF (for school) and enjoy every moment of it. I’m sure you’ll have a whole lot of fun (and if it’s not too windy or cloudy, you girls should totally run around from Crissy Field and over the Goldgen Gate Bridge! Such a nice view from the other side c:)
I am reading The Hunger Games – saw the movie randomly and really liked it!
those chocolate oranges you crack up are my favorite!
Currently reading through book 5 of game of thrones.
When babies start crawling or walking everyone always says to watch out! Nope. That stuff wasn’t too bad. Opening doors, now that’s when trouble happens! (At least for me).
Love your daily traditions. You are such a fun and thoughtful mom! Your trip with your sister will be so much fun. I am excited for you!!
I have nothing on my list this year which is VERY unusual for me. Favorite Christmas candy is anything with dark chocolate and peppermint. ..which is a lot this time of year…and I love it :)
Love that SF pic, I remember when you first posted it. And can I just say how adorable is Brooke in those headbands!!
Favorite Xmas candy….anything with peppermint and chocolate or those ghirardelli pumpkin spiced caramel chocolates….mmmm.
My Xmas wish list is pretty much all running related: garmin 220, new shoes, road id bracelet. Lol
Oh my gosh, I cannot believe you didn’t mention how cute Brook is in that headband. Further proof she is getting farther away from being a baby. I read “A Christ Centered Christmas” last year and we are doing it this year. Love it! Last–I’m a frequent reader but never a commenter. I work with Amy and Amy on the She Runs races and met you last feb. in St George. Just thought I would say hello. Hello!
You can get those Swedish Fish Candy Canes at Target. I know because I may or may not have purchased 10 boxes. ;)
Those Pure Flow 3’s are SWEEEEEEEEEEEET! I must have them.
Brooke was such a teeny baby! So I’m not sure what’s on my Christmas list this year – I got engaged this year and I”m still living in the clouds. I feel like nothing I get can truly top the gift of getting to marry my honey. Lately I’ve been reading Dean Karnazes’ book, Run, and I’m really enjoying it. My favorite Christmas candy would probably have to be a York Peppermint Patty, which I know isn’t technically Christmas, but it’s minty so it kinda counts, right?
Favorite Christmas candy- those peppermint hershey kisses. Im not w huge fan of candy canes but if they are added to something else I dont mind them.
I’m reading A Little Princess right now. I read alot of “kids” books because I homeschool and I’m always previewing books for my curriculum and also kids books are pretty safe when it comes to some of the garbage out there.
I have that same Christ centered Christmas book too. :)
When I look at Brooke and all the things she already does at just her age I sometimes thinks she’s 2, almost 3 but then I remember that she is just 16 months old! She is a toddler and a mature little lady already. Just think of all the running you guys can do in a few years ;) lets hope she loves running too.
Deleting old posts..Will you be deleting all of the old ones or just a few?
Sometimes I want to delete my old neglected blog but then there are a few gems on there that I dont want to forget.
I hope you have a great day today.
Leslie @ My Life Begins at 30?
Brooke is definitely a toddler. She looks so grown up in that headband. It’s adorable!! Also, Swedish Fish candy canes seem like a brilliant idea. All candy should come in candy cane form! I don’t really have a favorite Christmas candy. I prefer the cookies and other baked goods. I just really like that Christmas is a great time to enjoy all of it with friends and family.
My Christmas List is pretty simple this year. I don’t need or particularly want anything this year. I just want to spend time with my family.
I’m between books right now. I just finished up Gone Girl. Interesting read. Not my favorite, but well written.
Lauren @Will Run for Boston
My Christmas list is all running related! New shoes for road races, compression socks, and running clothes!
My Christmas Wish List = new running gear
I just finished Go Giver and it is fantastic!
I love peppermint chocolate bark.
SWEDISH FISH CANDY CANES along with SOUR PATCH KIDS CANDY CANES!!! can be found at Target! (One of the top 5 greatest inventions of all time)
1. Brooke in that little headband = OMG
2. The new pure line!? Lucky girl!
3. San Francisco can’t wait I have you back. We’ve been havin awesome “winter” weather, so hopefully it keeps going strong for when you guys get here! What do you have planned for the weekend? Hiking in Marin? Cable car ride? Stuffing your face with ghiradelli hot chocolate? :)
About the post-deleting… maybe hide instead of delete altogether? From first-hand experience, I suspect that down the road once you’ve totally recovered, you’ll wish you still had some of that evidence/history available for yourself and for Brooke. Even the most miserable things that happen are part of your history, and make you who you are now. Without knowing exactly what happened, that history gave you Brooke and made you happy for a long time. It seems like a shame to just erase it, even if it was followed by a really painful chapter. Just my 2 cents. I know the deleting probably feels fantastic.
Lora @ Crazy Running Girl
Whaaat… those candy canes look amazing!! I am going to have to check today to see if Target has them!
ari @ whatarisaid
Oooh ooh, Brooke can come be in my kindergarten class! Lol!
Christmas list – some new Lululemon clothes (or at least a gift card), and some little things like pjs, a popcorn popper, etc. Book: reading the Legend series. It’s kinda fun but I had to put it down during the week or I won’t go to sleep, it’s a real pageturner!
Annie @ lovelaughrun
Brookers sure knows her mama! She is SO cute, holding that banana with her little toddler hands!
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
Swedish Fish candy canes?! Looks just up your alley! ;) Brooke grew up, holy cow! I didn’t even notice until you compare the picture of her now to the picture from San Fran!
I can’t believe how tiny brooke is in that pic! You are both gorgeous!
Toddlers are so much fun! Tanner and Baylee were into EVERYTHING at that stage.. I seriously felt like I ran a marathon everyday!
Everything on my list is actually to expensive for me to even get. .haha! But victoria secret lipgloss is always a christmas stocking must!
Props to you for taking the step of deleting :) A few years ago, I had the rug completely pulled out from under me after finding out some horrible things that had been happening behind my back with my boyfriend of 5 years. I was embarrassed, heartbroken, frustrated, sad, angry – the list goes on. Eventually – I went on a cleanse – pictures were deleted, emails gone – clothing that he gave me or reminded me of him was given away – along with whatever else didn’t feel “right” to have anymore. It was the BEST thing I could have done. And while my closet is still kind of bare after my rampage of giving most of my things away, I wouldn’t change what I did. It was a key part to my recovery process!
Have an awesome Christmas with your family. You sure deserve it :)
Natalie @ Free Range Human
I love Brooke’s little headband! She is looking like quite a little girl instead of a baby. Enjoy this new phase :)
That pic is adorable!
I love reeces and especially when they are in interesting shapes for holidays (Christmas trees, pumpkins, etc.)
Abbey @ thesonomalife
Deleting old posts sounds very therapeutic! Nice!
SF will be great in January. I know you’ll have some great things planned for you and your sis!
And (shameless plug) you can always take a trip to Sonoma!
karla @ finding my fit
That has to be therapeudic–keep it up, Janae!
Your neices are so beautiful-it runs in the family =)
Favorite Christmas candy is a tie between Dove Peppermint Bark and Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Peppermint squares. I also love those peppermint nougats from Brach.
I love, love, love that headband on Brooke! She is just so adorable.
My son is 18 months now and it’s so weird thinking he’s not a baby anymore. I will really miss the days when I can pick him up and carry him around. He’s so independent now and while I love it, I miss being his everything.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
omg swedish fish candy canes?!!? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any like that!
I threw away so many of my journals from when I was a teenager because I was embarrassed of them at the time. Looking back now, I kind of regret it. Even with old posts, I think I’d rather hide them instead of delete entirely, but that’s just me. You should do whatever you think is best. :)
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties
I asked for super practical things this year- stuff like gloves and a daily planner! I need to find an audio book to read (listen to?) in the car next week when I drive back to my parents house. Maybe I’ll look through these comments and use one of the suggestions :)
Oh my lord looking at that old picture of you guys she is SO MUCH BIGGER!
I always think everything happens for a reason…..and the reason for your recent past sure is BROOKE!! Oh, the joy that girl can bring!!! (Especially when wearing headbands…ha!)
I would like to get a Fitbit this year….
1. Anything running… hopefully santa gets me my compression pants. I had my fill of shoes this year (huh?! did I just say that?!)
2. My Best Race by Chris Cooper. Suggested by SkinnyRunner. Yeah, awesome book. I read a chapter a night. Love the story about Jenny Simpson (and it’s so new I could watch the youtube video!)
3. I guess this is a midwest thing (I’m from hawaii), it’s called Gooey Butter Cake =).
Debbie @ Deb Runs
I asked for another Brooks jacket for Christmas. I hope Santa brings it to me! :-)
Green and red peanut M&M’s are my favorite!
I just finished the book Me Before You and I loved it. I highly recommend it.
I can’t resist candy canes! so yummy!
My daughter will start kindergarten in August, and I cannot believe it. I mean, she was a newborn 5 seconds ago! I know you hear it all the time, but don’t let these times slip by! Brooke is adorable, and so are you! Also, my mother bought me a pair of Brooks (my first ever!) for my Christmas present, but she will not let me have it until Sunday when we open our gifts. I cannot wait to go on a run in those puppies! Merry Christmas, Janae!
Brook’s headband is adorable!
I just finished the Secret Keeper, its a bit slow in the beginning, but it’s so good! Brook is adorable and I really want her head band lol
Christmas list: SPI Belt, money always helps, and a new job.
I’ve been reading “A Homemade Life”….a cute story that is based upon one woman’s recipe and life.
Christmas Candy? M&Ms. When I was two, my Mom told me that I would ask her how to spell “M&Ms” so I could put it on my list for Santa. Santa has brought me a bag of M&Ms ever since.
I love Brooke’s headband! It’s so stinkin’ cute.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for a Garmin 220 and an entry into my first half marathon in the spring. I just finished Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich and now I’m halfway through Wicked Business. FUNNY series.
I LOVE Swedish Fish. We found those candy canes at Target. We already worked through one package. I need to go get more.
Yay for deleting old posts. That’s great :). I love the last pic of u and Brooke. She’s so tiny!!
Very jealous of your new shoes. Blue is awesome.
Miss Brooke is a doll. Thanks for sharing her with us:)
Christmas List: Running clothes and the boyfriend gave me an early Christmas gift, Despicable Me 2!:D

Brittnee @ Nebraska Running Girl
Brooke in that headband eating the banana is too cute!!! She is such doll!
Brooke looks like a little ballerina on her tiptoes!
I understand why you deleted old posts, but I am kind of sad about it too. Only because I only recently discovered your blog and it was kind of fun to read the old entries
So proud of you!:)
Reeses bells taste so much better than regular Reeses!
How do I send such an awesome runner, brave mother and strong woman a private message? First comment from a long time reader, marathon runner, and mother of seven in Idaho!
I sure enjoy your daily musings.
Deleting posts sounds therapeutic. Good for you! Brooke looks a bit more like your nieces when she is wearing the headband. Too cute (all of them!).
It really goes so fast, that headband is so adorable, she looks like a mini me of you.
This is one of my favorite posts ever. You never, ever fail to demonstrate your strength and for that I would like to tell you how strong you are and that YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS… for real Janae…you are doing great.thank you for being such an incredible inspiration. You’re amazing..keep up the therapeutic good work. I just kinda sorta want to give you a big fat virtual hug so……
I saw the Swedish Fish candy canes at Target this week and thought “candy canes for runners.” I didn’t buy them, but the Pixy Stix candy canes are yummy.
Kara @ Kara in the Kitchen
Good for you, deleting posts! I bet it’s a good cleansing exercise. I need to find those candy canes!!!
I’m re-reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern which really is such an amazing, magical story and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get lots of lovely new books from Santa this year. :-) And San Francisco is my favourite place on earth even though I was only able to spend 5 days there. I’d dreamed of visiting my whole life, made it and it exceeded all my wildest dreams! Sigh…need to go back someday!
I’m reading the new Bridget Jones’ Dairy book…loving it!
My Christmas list consists of one thing…a race entry to the Rock N Roll DC marathon…you should run it too : )
That picture of Brooke with the banana is priceless!
My Christmas list is pretty short this year, but I just don’t have many things I “want”. An automatic car starter would be nice, though. :)
Katie Did What
I really want to read that book!! So important to keep in mind the true reason for the season! :)
Leigha @ Minougirl
Brooke’s headband!!! SO cute! I hate wasting food too so I will eat the same meal 6 meals in a row. I want a garmin for Christmas!
Well done for having the strength to delete old posts. You are so strong and a real inspiration. Hugs
Keep up the post deleting, whatever makes you feel better is great!
