There is just something so great about Saturday morning running
A) I get to sleep in a little bit and leave at a time that isn’t ‘way too early o’clock’ like I normally do.
B) Saturdays are always the most fun day of the week for us so I have fun things to look forward to during my run.
C) There are always way more runners outside.
D) I LOVE finishing my week off strong and going in to my rest day (Sunday) knowing I gave my best.
8.29 miles with an average pace of 7:08—> Started off with two warm-up miles at about a 7:45 pace third mile a 7:14 and then 6:5X’s pace for the last 5 mile.
I always get excited for their get togethers because they know how important a good meal is. The grilled veggies and chicken burger were amazing. Brooke ate all of my grapes though….she has taken over one of my favorite foods.
I was forced to try and love all three.
And then we took the paddle boats out. Brooke was obsessed with steering and actually did a really good job at it.
Brooke licks her lips whenever she is happy about what we are doing.
Paddle boating is no joke. They need a paddle boat simulator machine at the gym because I was breaking a sweat on that thing. My quadriceps are feeling the burn from the boating, not from the running.
After some more mingling with cool lawyers and talking about patents we drove to San Francisco to meet up with JAMES .
First stop was Mission for The Fizzary.
They had every single soda ever invented.
Once you picked out your soda you put your bottle in that barrel which makes it cold within 2 minutes. You also get a free taffy with your soda (I had a root beer soda and a maple bacon taffy ((not very good but I had to at least try it)).
And as we were saying goodbye to our friend Brooke waved. For the first time. My heart melted.
What was the best thing about your Saturday?
Favorite running day of the week?
Ever been paddle boating?
Favorite type of soda (now or in the past)?
Elizabeth @ my neon running shoes
I love weekends when there are more runners outside too! And I thought that said you ran 29 miles at 7:08 pace. I was like WOW!!! Best part of our Saturday was having friends over for dinner. I really like grape and strawberry sodas. Cherry coke is up there too :-)
Amy @ Writing While Running
Brooke on the paddle boat is just adorable (how often do you hear that?)! And a soda store is my dream, although just plain soda water is great for me. Looks like you guys had an amazing day.
Wendy @ New Moms Talk
My Saturday was beautiful watching my hub finish the Echo Tri in Coalville. The race officials and volunteers were superb, and The Corner Bakery was at the finish! Plus, I met a bunch of wonderful people which made for passing a delightful way to pass the time.
I used to love paddle boating at Kennywood. It was always a special treat. Perhaps one day we’ll take Susanna back there.
Brooke is the most adorable toddler ever. She is growing up so fast-and already driving-lol!! Looks like a fun day-I love being on the water on a gorgeous day! And by the way your hair looks great, I love the way you are fixing it! Enjoy your rest day!
Paddleboating is so hard. Especially since you have to be perfectly in sync with the other person. Tough life. I miss running long distances but for now I’ll just live vicariously through you and your awesome runs!
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
Saturday morning long runs when I can do a long run with my boyfriend are the best. He pushed me and motivates me which is what I really need now that our mileage is getting to 16 miles plus for out long runs.
Yesterday I got my first responders certification SO if you are going to pass out after a race or any time…. Make sure it’s by me.
Andrea R. @ Morning Runner Girl
Chicken burger looks/sounds amazing!
Paddleboating is no joke!! I always wear out fast and just end up floating around!
I love when there are so many other runners/walkers/bikers out in the early hours!!
Growing up, I loved orange soda. I used to have a Diet Coke obsession, but I don’t drink soda anymore.
Yesterday, I ran around exploring the trails at Coyote Hills, and then a bunch of church friends and I celebrated my brother’s birthday at Hot Pot City.
Nicole @ Work in Sweats Mama
I love fountain Coke. One of my favorite indulgences! Lately, Friday lunch time trail running with my husband has been my fav run of week
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I’ve never been paddleboating! It does look like fun. I think the best thing about my Saturday was being able to take time to just relax.
Sounds like a fun and full Saturday! How nice!!
I get my long runs in on Sunday mornings with an awesome group… Your post has me wondering if I’m missing out by not running Saturday mornings… May have to give it a try!! :)
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
Looks like you had a wonderful Saturday!! And just how does Billy not like Chipotle???
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats
I’ve never been paddle boating but it looks like fun! I’m not a soda fan but when I do want one its pretty much always a root beer or coke in a glass bottle (I swear it tastes better in a glass bottle!)
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
The best thing about my Saturday was my cousins baby shower! I can’t wait to meet baby Jackson and the candy bar topped off a great afternoon! My favorite Runday is also Saturday. I love putting in a hard effort to start the weekend on a high note :) I love Brooks jelly’s… looks like she’s keeping them on these days! I agree with Karen that root beer in a bottle tastes the best! Think I might have to get some on my grocery trip today! Happy Weekend!
Jen @ milesandblessings
Your sat run was AWESOME! 5 miles under 7 is some serious running :)
Paddle boating is a serious workout, but so is kayaking!!! We took our kids kayaking on vacation….I was beat!
I really don’t know what my favorite run day is…when I am done it is my hard days but before I start my run it is my easy days :). I feel so proud of myself though when I get done with a hard workout.
I tend to do my long runs on Friday so Saturday I did 11 miles in the step mill. Felt good to do some cross training. Best part of the day though was hanging out with my son, husband and parents… Long walks and yummy coffee! Growing up we weren’t really allow soda except for special occasions in which I’d take anything I could get my hands on lol. Now my fav is Fresca.
Adriana @Laced Up With Lipstick
That sounds like a fun Saturday! My little one always takes my grapes too! I can’t imagine a 6 level Nordstrom, I’d be in heaven.
Alyssa @ See This Girl Run
Yay Brooke!!! That’s so cute!
I do love Saturdays too because I don’t feel quite as rushed because I don’t have to be getting to work or anything.
Never been paddle boating but I think it looks way fun.
Angie @ Pint of Goals
You guys had quite the fun-filled day! It’s so great how much stuff you do with Brooke :) My husband and I have a four week old and we hope to be “active” with her also (and have so far…as muh as you can be with a newborn).
My Saturday was very relaxing – we’re up at my cottage. We spent the day sitting on the deck looking at the lake, took a walk, and ate good food. I also took a nap.
Have a nice Sumday!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
The best thing about my Saturday was… nothing really. I worked and then my ankle hurt so no run for me. But usually I head to the gym on Saturdays about an hour before they close and usually have the place pretty much to myself. Love that!
My favorite running day of the week is any day that I can get one of my girls to trail run with me!
I haven’t been paddle boating in years! I wonder if the lake next to us offers that?… Will have to look into it!
Andrea @ The Fit Scoop
The best part of my Saturday was having friends over for dinner and a board game night. We played Settlers of Catan – a little nerdy but SO fun. My favorite soda that seems to be no longer available is Diet Cherry 7-Up. I agree with Angie @ Pint of Goals – it is great how much you guys do with Brooke. I hope to do that with my little girl too when she gets here!
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun
What a beautiful Saturday it looks like you had with your family! <3 I used to paddle boat when I was little with my family. Such good memories!
My Saturday was awesome!
1. My baby girls’s 6 month bday
2. 10 mile run with friends
3. Spa day!
I love running on Saturday mornings too. It means I can use Sunday as my one day of the week to sleep in…well as long as Annabelle will let me :-).
I’m always so hungry after reading your blog…time for brunch!
Danica @ It's Progression
I don’t like soda (“pop” here : ) anymore but once in a great while I’ll happily have a root beer.
Usually Saturday is my favorite running day too but due to a crazy schedule yesterday, I’m doing my long run today! about 10 miles to meet my husband at the Farmer’s Market :)
Emily @ Running for Boston
Saturday is also my favorite running day and yesterday’s run was my favorite part of the day. My run was along the Chicago Lakefront, it was early, not too hot, and breezy at just the right places. I ran with a girl who is my perfect running buddy – in pace, tempo, everything. It was a glorious way to start the day!
My favorite type of soda….vanilla – if done right with REAL vanilla not the fake flavoring and root beer (of course with ice cream)!
Giving your grapes to Brooke shows us how much you love her ;)
Amy @ Long Drive Journey
Favorite run day of the week – Saturday. I don’t really drink soda anymore but I really like the fancy Izze sodas that they sell at Starbucks. I get sparkling blackberry. I’ve never been paddle boarding but I want to!
Monday’s are my favorite running day! I do interval training that day and it has really helped push me. Yesterday we relaxed and unpacked after being on the toad for 20 plus hrs.
A family barbque with my boys! So fun
Amy @ Rum Mom Run
I would pick chipoltle over Panda Express any day.
Paddle boarding is a lot of work but so much fun!
Sounds like an awesome day!
Kelly in Canada
Favourite thing about yesterday: running some hills after only doing flats for a very long time and getting to snuggle my baby cousin who is just 4 months old!
Favourite running day: I love my Sunday runs, although I mostly just love having the opportunity to be out at all. I have a few people in my life right now who can hardly even walk, so it makes me realize how blessed we are to be able to run.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
We had a great Saturday too! We went out for donuts, spent some time outdoors doing yard work, went on a run/walk, and had friends over for a barbecue. Looks like your day was a beautiful one!
Corrine @ EatRunWine
Saturday was extra exciting because we met up with some family friends that came in from Texas! We went out to lunch at a really yummy sandwich place, and then hung out and drank some beer. We talked all day and then went out for dinner to this ok Mexican place- but we ended the night getting cheesecake from my favorite place ever!
Saturday is also my favorite running day of the week. My husband runs with me, and even though we sometimes run at different speeds, we always start and finish together. I like the time to talk without distractions. :)
The best thing about my Saturday was going shopping at Target and getting a lot of good impulse buys, of course! I used to love running on Sundays because it seems so peaceful in the mornings. I think it’s because a lot of people have the day off, traffic is less, and everyone you pass just seems to be in a better mood. I’ve only been pattleboating at Hershey Park a couple of times to feed the duckies! And my favorite soda is probably Cream or Sasperilla! I used to love grape/orange Fanta, though!
The best thing about my Saturday was spending time with my husband. He’s been working and really busy lately so I’ve been missing him.
My favorite day to run is Saturday. I love my long runs and I love seeing all the other runners out there as well.
I have been paddle boating, but not in a few years. I always have trouble steering so I Brooke’s help would be great next time I go. :)
My favorite soda is root beer. Yum!
Laura @ Live, Run Sparkle
that sounds like a great little Saturday! I would have got rootbeer too, or cream soda. Both are guilty pleasures that I only allow myself to have once in awhile. Paddle boating is tough on your leggers, I felt the same way last time I did it!
What a great day!!
Meaghan @ Tale of Two Teachers
Saturday we went to an outdoor concert in the park and it was awesome! The weather has been just amazing here since school let out and I’m loving it!!
Sunday is long run day with my best friend! Obviously the best running day for me :)
I use to paddle boat at my aunts cottage and it was so fun but my brother and I would almost always argue about who was pedaling faster haha. I made some convincing arguments I’m sure but looking back he was two years older and at least twice my size – he was probably doing most of the work!
Tahiti Treat was my absolute favorite soda! I can’t find it anywhere anymore!! Does anyone else remember it? It was like fizzy fruit punch and AMAZING!!!
Anne @ CandyCrazedrun.wordpress.com
I love Sunday Rundays!
My favorite thing in the whole wide world is an early am long run, coming home eating my post-long run breakfast of toast with pb, pumpkin, and banana while lying on the ground because I can’t moving reading the wedding section of the Sunday paper watching Dogs 101. Phew!
That looks like such a fun day! Brooke is so adorable. My daughter is 5 months so it is fun for me to know what to look forward to soon.
I had a question for you about your IT band when it was recently hurt. How much time did you take off of running? Did you take ibuprofen, stretch or ice when you were injured? Were you spinning during that time?
I’ve taken two weeks off now and not feeling much progress. Getting pretty down about it…
Thanks! Your blog is my new favorite! :)
char eats greens
I did an 8 miler last night and I felt awesome!!! I think I like your idea of running Saturday mornings though because Saturday night means people are ready to party and driving around town. I had 3 cars (I think they all knew each other) because they were honking at me for a while and it was pretty annoying!!! I think I’d feel safer in the morning!!
I really like root beer. It got me through pregnancy!!
Why is Billy’s work so awesome?!? I don’t have a fav running day- anything but Tuesday- speedwork! I go paddleboating every year with my cousins. I end up doing all the work. I don’t drink pop anymore but I used to love rootbeer and orange!
Sat is my fav long run day too – don’t have to rush.
Today I did my first half post baby… my pelvis is pretty sore!
We used to have a paddle boat growing up, good times on the river! But they are SO slow!
Paddle boating looks SO fun!!! :) I want to go to that soda place now. Next time we’re in SF we’ll have to check it out! My fave soda is probably root beer, or cream soda. Ooh! Or Dr. Pepper. Hard to choose! I don’t drink much soda, like, ever, but when I do, it’s one of those! Brooke is adorable with her spoons in that photo :)
Saturday is my favorite run day too!!! I always try to do my long work out on Saturday and take Sunday as a rest day. I LOVE Sunday afternoon naps!! When I was out running and biking yesterday, I thought of my next blog post. I get lots of time when I run and think and make analogies between training and life. Here’s the most creative….
I love your great kid pictures! Are you a photographer too? : )
Best thing about my Saturday- spending time with family from OREGON! So sad they go home today :(
Favorite running day of the week is Saturday because I run with my running club.
I really want to try paddle boating!
Favorite soda is Wild Cherry Pepsi. Forever and always. I prefer regular Coke to Pepsi, but I like the Wild Cherry Pepsi because I think it’s sweeter/more cherry flavor than cherry Coke. And I will always take cherry over regular.
I rarely drink soda but when I do it is orange soda! SO GOOD.
Diet Mountain Dew still has my heart.
Best part of Saturday was the bike ride with the hubby.
Durning the school year Sat. Is the favorite day to run hands down, during the summer a weekday run can rival that though.
That Fizzery shop sounds incredible! Hope you had a lovely weekend!
I love Saturday runs too! I feel so accomplished because Saturday is my long run day and the end of my running week.
I’ve never been on a paddle boat but looks fun!
Those boats are NO JOKE!!! I took my older kids them over spring break for the first time. My pedaling partner was a total slacker and I ended up pooped!
Best part of my Saturday was taking my oldest 2 to WWZ and having teenagers sit in my lap and clutch my hands :)
Long runn saturdays :) And parties with friends
In Latin America they have a lot of fruit flavored sodas and I lovee Strawberry
you need to get Brooke some cars to play with! If she is good about not putting non food items in her mouth you can get her some hotwheels. V has over 2000 (I know, I know). Then if you have Ikea near you, they have super cute rugs for driving cars on. V has been playing with his cars for longer than he would walk. He sorts them by color, body shape, model, brand, etc.
I love paddle boating, but it is a workout. It’s like those 4 persons bikes at the beach where everyone has to cycle, but usually two of you end up doing most of the work.
Best thing about Saturday was an at home date night with the hubby and homemade vegan ice cream (delicious!) My favorite running day is usually Sat (not today) because I love the feeling of accomplishment after a long run. We paddle boated our way through Cancun, it was awesome. I am definitely glad it was a four person boat and we had two strong guys with us. Canoeing is much easier. My fav soda is a Diet Cherry Pepsi.
I love to run on Fridays because I feel like it gets me ready for a fun weekend ahead. Also, I’ve been paddle boating but the REAL fun is paddle boarding! I did it in Austin, TX and it was amazing! Exercising is honestly the best way to explore any city.
Kari @ Running Ricig
I love paddle boating. We have one at our cottage in Michigan.
The best thing about my Saturday is that we had friends in town visiting and went to the dinosaur museum together. It was a lot of fun.
I usually do my long runs on Sunday & then do nothing the rest of the day but float in the pool. Any day I can do that is my favorite run day! Best thing about Sat. is we bought the hubs a new truck. LOVE the new car smell. Hands down fave Coke (I’m from the south, everything is a Coke) is a Dr. Pepper!! HAHA!
What a fun day!! And I usually don’t like food courts but I do when it’s a big group and no one has to fight over what type of food we’re eating, haha!
