Brooke was little confused as to why we were waking HER up on Saturday morning instead of her waking us up. I just had to share with you her awesome morning hair. It is actually impossible to not smile when I see this hair no matter how early it is in the morning.
After the race yesterday I am very proud of myself because I really took a good amount of time to stretch, foam roll and do everything possible to prevent me from being crazy sore and it WORKED. The only thing that is sore is my upper back…. for some reason trails/hills make it sore?!? I must hold it tighter or something?
You know what is the best when you are tired? When a friend invites you over for dinner and you walk in and see this just hanging out on their table.
We had bbq chicken sandwiches, brussels, potatoes and a salad. It was perfect.
After dinner and dessert we literally hung out at the table for 3 hours. We were going to play a game or something but there was simply too many important issues to discuss.
I brought over some blondies (I learned my mistake, brownies are and always will be better than blondies) and ice cream.
Don’t act like you don’t plan out your Sunday morning breakfasts weeks in advance too. I can’t decide if I love banana and chocolate chip pancakes more or waffles with strawberries more…. I guess next Sunday I will just have to do a side by side comparison.
Would you rather have waffles with strawberries (and whipped cream) or banana chocolate chip pancakes? What did you have for your Sunday morning breakfast?
Blondies or brownies?
Does your back ever get sore from running? Where do you get the most sore usually after a hard run?
Do you have crazy hair in the morning?
-Yes… I passed it down to Brooke.
That picture of brooke is so adorable! That smile! Those eyes! What a gorgeous little lady!
That food looks, as usual, stunningly delicious.
Heather @ Run Eat Play
Brooke is such a pretty baby!
I’d rather have waffles. And brownies for the win!
Brooks hair is so crazy and soo cute :-) also I don’t know what a Blondie is?
Miss Brooke is such a beauty!
Im thinking the waffles with strawberries and whipped cream would be my first choice but they both sound yummy!
I actually have back issues and i notice sometimes my back hurts after a run but sometimes it doesnt. I dont really know what i do differently to cause it to hurt though..hmmm….
Brownies ALL THE WAY!!!! YUM!
I do have crazy morning hair but I dont look nearly as cute as Brookie! Those big beautiful eyes are killing me!!! LOVE THEM!
Glad youre not too sore today!!! Enjoy your Sunday!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
That sounds like a pretty perfect evening. What a great dinner! And Brooke just seems to get more and more beautiful! I always choose pancakes over waffles, waffles are just to dry for my taste, and I’m not sure, I haven’t had a blondie in a long time. They sound good in my head right now…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr cutest hair ever! And I love how smiley she is :D When it comes to choosing between pancakes and waffles, I’d usually go for waffles, but seeing as the pancakes have chocolate in them, I’m going to have to side with those. And the same applies to the brownie vs. blondie debate – chocolate trumps all.
Bri @ Back to Bliss
I would go with the banana chocolate chip pancakes… I’m not a strawberry person. This morning we went to my favorite diner for breakfast & I had a ham & cheese omlette – my favorite!
BROWNIES!! I love them so much – I will have them instead of cake at my wedding! I agree that both of your breakfasts sound delicious – can’t wait to hear the results of the side by side :)
Those pancakes look delicious! And Brooke is so cute…she looks like curly there :)
Just when I thought the pic of Brooke doing ab exercises was my fav pic ever…..
Oh my goodness! That picture of Brooke is stunning. I don’t know how it is possible for her to get more adorable with each post. I keep thinking it has to plateau sometime, but it hasn’t!
I am now even more impressed that you are not sore after your race. You are going to go sub 1:30 at the retreat next month! Usually my IT band and piriformis get the most sore.
Brownies all the way. But I wouldn’t say no to any form of sugar…it is becoming quite the problem, actually.
Doesn’t food always taste better when you don’t have to make it? Ok. not always. But that table sure is a nice thing to see after a day of racing, I am sure.
I usually make banana pancakes when I make brinner. I eat 2. One with strawberries and whipped cream and one with peanut butter and maple syrup because I could never choose between the two. Seriously. Every. Time.
I sometimes don’t even brush my hair before I go somewhere the next morning. My hair looks the same. It is quite nice. Have a great Sunday, Janae!
Brooke is simply adorable-I can’t say it enough times. If you ever get tired of her…..lol!! I want the waffles AND the pancakes please, I had boring oatmeal. Brownies always trumps blondies (chocolate ALWAYS wins). My left shin really hurts after runs-well really all the time now. I went to a Trigger Point class this morning-we’ll see if it works.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries
That is SUCH an adorable photo of Brooke! Can she seriously get any cuter?! It almost looks like she has a little hint of red to her hair in that picture? I just had banana chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast yesterday and they couldn’t be beat. I’d pick that combo over waffles and strawberries any day. And yes to brownies over blondies! Now I want a warm fudgy brownie…
Pancakes definitely win, and I usually prefer blondes too… Probably because I have them so rarely.
My hip flexors are always by far the worst after a long run… and worse than usual today I think because it was cold and a slow run.
Brooke is too cute all the time, but that morning pic is priceless. I just look greasy in the am; we need her beauty tips!
Mila @ Simple Harmonic Motion
Banana anything anytime. Although you know what you should try? Banana peanut butter waffles! My friend made it in the dining hall (by mixing banana slices and PB into the pre-made waffle batter) before finding out it was illegal in case any other students had allergies oops
Also my right shoulder goes wanky on long runs? Help?
Blonde brownies are delicious…i wonder if they are like blondies.
I actually love waffles, but hate pancakes. I understand that they are essentially the same, but I think it’s the texture or something. So I’d rather have waffles with fruit and whipped cream. Santa brought me a waffle maker for Christmas :) For my Sunday breakfast, I had oatmeal with two tablespoons of peanut butter and three sliced strawberries. YUM! And yes, I get wild hair in the morning. I have a pixie cut and insanely thick hair, so my hair gets wild. I workout in the morning, so if I can’t tame it with my fingers or water, I usually just let it be because when I get sweaty it’ll tame down. Is that gross?
Brooke @ Running In Heels
Brooke is gorgeous!! That is such a great picture!!
Brooke is sooo cute! And those pancakes look delicious.
Amy @ Writing While Running
How do you get Brooke’s hair like that; I need to get me some of that ;)
Brownies, for sure! But with vanilla ice cream. And maybe some hot fudge.
Elizabeth @ My Neon Running Shoes
OMG Brooke’s hair is priceless! I wish mine looked that good in the morning ;-) I’d rather have banana chocolate chip pancakes and brownies hands down! Although blondies with chocolate chips and toffee are pretty amazing too! Usually my hamstrings and calves are the most sore!
Chocolate chip pancakes are the best, and so is Brooke’s hair! I wish mine looked that cute, it just looks like a jumbled mess all the time :-)
Those Brussels sprouts looked pretty good. Is there a good way to cook them that makes them taste good?
haaaha look at her! I just love seeing her grow older now too, so cute!
Apart from sore legs, I feel it in my abs after a long, hard run!?
Danica @ It's Progression
My hips and my back are the two places I get sore from running! The hips are obvious, but yeah, I think my back gets sore when I do more hills–so that would explain it! A sore back is harder to deal with than hips though, in my opinion..hope yours feels better soon!
Stephanie @ Steph's Miles
You and Billy created the most animated baby ever! The bread for the sandwiches looks soo good!
Great job on your race rockstar! I love Brooke’s hair – wow! I don’t think I’ve ever had a blondie but it looks delicious! I had a protein smoothie for breakfast – I’m dying for real food. I had a gum graft done and can’t eat anything!! Your posted dinner is making me hungry!
I would much rather have the waffle with strawberries. Im one of those weird people that doesn’t like pancakes. Or melted chocolate. I put my chocolate chip cookies in the fridge until the chocolate is cooled and hardened.
Andrea @ mainerunnergirl
My back is always sore after hills! I think I have bad form… Banana and chocolate chips mmmm! There’s a café here that has banana foster waffles and they Carmelize the bananas in brown sugar- So good!!
Why not make both. A layer of brownie on the bottom and blondies on the top. YUM.
My calves get really tight.
Not crazy. Flat.
The Kidless Kronicles
That might be the cutest picture of little B to date!
Pancakes all the way! :) Especially with chocolate chips in them! YUM!!
I get most sore in my joints (hips and knees) and also my back (upper and lower). I get sore right across my shoulder blades and my lower back is always sore after a long run.
she is looking more and more like curly
I literally just squealed with delight when I just saw that picture of Brooke, so darn cute!!!
Fluffy chocolate Chip pancakes no syrup, just lots of chocolate please :)
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun
Your daughter is beyond precious!! I cannot get over that hair and I think in every picture I have ever seen of Brooke she is always smiling and happy! What a wonderful baby!
Mmmm waffles :-)
I get crazy bed head
I don’t like brownies very much kinda crazy I know.
That pic or Brooke is adorable
I get IT band issues if I’m not careful.
Psh, I can’t even believe that’s a question. Obviously,
whenever chocolate is an option, it is the ONLY
Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad
I love Brooke’s wild hair! Mine can go one of two ways. My hair either looks better than it does during the day or it is all over the place. Quite a difference.
Ummm YUM! I’m always really sore after trail runs too. It must mean I’m rotating my body around too much. Or I’m working my core more. I like that answer better. I had pancakes for dinner Friday night and then breakfast saturday morning and today. Pancake queen over here haha but I’m a fan of the plain variety. Strawberries on the side :)
Banana chocolate chip!!!!!!!!!! Brownies!!!!!!! (Are we sensing a trend here?)
I raced Sunday morning, then we joined some friends for brunch. I had smoked salmon-egg-cream cheese bagel, with some delicious crunch friend potato thingies on the side. This was all fabulous. And our friend said we’d go to a delicious dessert place after lunch. Perfection. Only…the delicious dessert place was closed… *sad face* Still, good food & good friends = WIN.
Sometimes, trail running makes me sore in odd places – you do work a lot harder to stabilize the rest of your body when the terrain is uneven. Congrats on your speedy race, and spend some time rolling your back today! ;-)
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats
I don’t understand why you should chose between the two. I say have both :) My IT band is usually the spot that is most sore after a good run.
mmm now i want this meal all over again after seeing your professional picture of it!
I have always said waffles are the best but lately I’ve been eating pancakes nearly every weekend (sat or sun) with my boyfriend and I’m loving them! So I say pancakes sound better!
Way to go on the race!
Love Brooke’s hair! and those big eyes! She is a doll baby! :)
Yum what a great looking food day!
I love blondes and brownies, just depends on my mood that day haha
Kait - @runkaitrun
my hair always makes me look like a crazy person when i first wake up in the morning. especiallly when i sleep on it wet!
breakfast is my fav, any kind of pancake is the key to my heart, no doubt.
Jenn @ Run It My Way
That picture of Brooke is gorgeous, she’s such a pretty baby! I love her big blue eyes :)
I have the solution to your banana choc chip pancake vs strawberry waffles dilemma… Homemade pancakes + fresh strawberries :) That’s what I made for breakfast this morning and it was divine!
A Blondie if it’s from applebees! If not then a regular brownie!
Natalie @ Twenty-Something Talk
My weird soreness place is my arms, I guess I pump them like crazy when I get going. And of course my hamstrings.
Brownies>Blondies. No question!
I eat so many pancakes that a waffle really sounds good right now! With strawberries for sure!!! Brooke looks so happy for being woken up early!! My little girl would be very upset with me!!
Not sure what a blondie is but love brownies!!
I can’t get over how sweet she is. Frame that one:)
Brooke is looking just like Curly!
fab hair brooke!wild, like mine!
Waffles with strawberries!!
I don’t like brownies (or chocolate in general) and I’m not sure what a blondie is.
My lower back is always sore after a long run over 1.5 hours.
I am in the crazy morning hair club too :)
I had scrambled egg white and feta on a tortilla. I just love Brooke. My whole family thinks she is adorable!
Brooke’s hair… oh my… she’s just beautiful! Look at those curls! :)
I’m going to have to go with strawberry waffles because I’m allergic to bananas :(
Maybe if they were just chocolate chip pancakes? Oooh… then top those with strawberries and whipped cream!
Oh those big blue eyes!! You guys have such a cute, sweet, happy baby.
Oh and you have to go to Crapevine on University Ave.!! Mike had their Sweedish pancakes with a berry sauce that was amazing.
LOVE that pic of Brooke!!!
Brooke makes bed hair look awesome ha :)!
Crazy would be an understatement for the state my hair is in when I wake up! Sleeping on my curly hair is a lost cause the next day. I wouldn’t mind if it looked like Brooke’s when I woke up but if it could magically fall into place in .2 seconds, that would be fantastic. Let me know your secret to her cute little locks! For now, I’ll keep straightening it and ignoring the fact that it is actually curly.
Waffles, brownies, lower back, fab hair Brooke and I can actually bake bread!! Thanks for sharing the Braided Bread recipe. My mom cried when I sent her the picture. I don’t think she thought I would ever develop her bread baking skills, but I’m on my way thanks to you!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Ahhhhhhh that makes me so happy! It really is the best bread ever!
Chocolate chip banana pancakes sound AMAZING. I’d probably always choose that over fruity waffles. And brownies all the way! I don’t even know if I’ve had a blondie, but that’s besides the point..
tiffany @dynamics of happy
brooke looks SO STINKING CUTE in that picture!! her innocent smile and big blue gorgeous eyes!
also, yay! i’m so glad you took my suggestion and did a post on your fav TJ items, i will check those out next time!! :D
what about the disappointing products from TJ? i think a list of items to avoid would be equally as helpful!
Charlie (The Runner Beans)
haha I’ve planned next weekend’s breakfasts already- brioche french toast with berries and yogurt, and now there will be choc chip pancakes, thanks for the inspiration. Brooke’s hair is awesome, love her big blue eyes!! And congrats on your age group win yesterday!
Banana chocolate pancakes. And I am a terrible, unhealthy and busy research person so I had a pear. Bad, bad Scallywag.
BLONDIES. My dad makes these with white chocolate and raspberries and the raspberries are perfect for offsetting the sweetness.
I get the most sore on my quads… Which is turns out is largely down to my shoes so I just had to get new ones- feel free to check out the post on them if youre interested.
My hair looks like a lion in the morning, always reminds me of this cartoon: http://alexishereidrawlikenick.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/em_hair_l.jpg?w=208&h=300
Oh my gosh that baby is just so stinking cute!!! Love it! I get crazy bed head too…so does my toddler. One of the things we mommies get to pass down to our girlies ;)
Megan @ Our Own Parade
I love Brooke’s morning hair! My toddler manages to have ‘morning hair’ all day. It doesn’t matter how much water I pour on her head, it just sticks up all over. It’s super straight and baby fine.
I have some super crazy morning hair (ie – curly on one side and flat on the other or somethings a half-mullet/half-mohawk combination), but Brooke’s is pretty darn cute. :-)
Unfortunately….I do not like strawberries at all so banana chocolate chip pancakes would be my choice. Now if I would ever have the energy to make them.
Blondies would for sure be my choice!!!
I can sooooo identify with your back issues after running. My lower back is ALWAYS the first thing I notice post race. It usually subsides quickly but boy does it bite for about the first hour afterwards.
Um yeah…..I have crazy natural curls so my hair in the morning=disaster!
Best. pic. ever. of Brooke!!!!
Kayla @ kpLovingit
LOVE Brooke’s morning hair. Totally made me smile.
Waffles with cinnamon sugar topped with cool whip is the best sunday breakast ever. No one will be able to convince me otherwise. :)
Brownies hands down. Chocolate is the biggest factor for having a brownie type of dessert – without it, why bother? :)
Chocolate chip pancakes ALL THE WAY!! extra extra extra chocolate chips or it’s a bust
Brownies are a huge weakness for me. I can eat the entire dish in one sitting!
I really love pancakes so that’s normally my breakfast of choice with peanut butter and agave syrup…yum!
Kari @ Running Ricig
Oh man, Brooke’s eyes are so insanely blue! She’s so freaking cute!!
Brownies are WAY better than blondies, you’re totally right.
Nikki @ run+breathe+be
Waffles with strawberries! No whip cream though, I’m not into that. Next Sunday I really want to make french toast and drizzle some TJ’s crunchy cookie butter on top.
BROWNIES. Always brownies.
I feel my hard runs in my calves and I just generally get very tight in my mid-back.
Brooke and I might be morning hair twins…
She looks so much like curly in that first picture! So adorable it hurts!!
Brooke is such a sweetheart, she’s so adorable :) The food looks amazing!
