I didn’t want to run today….

So I didn’t.  I woke up with zero desire to run and Billy has a pretty bad cold right now and my BIL had work.  Usually I can get myself to go if I don’t really feel like it when I have a running buddy but I had zero so I went to the gym instead and stair climbed and elipticaled and biked and weight lifted.  It was just what I needed.

As soon as I got home my sis was there to pick me up for the ultimate girls date.

She was taking her little girls to watch BYU gymnastics and I tagged along.  HOLY COW, that was the most entertaining thing ever to go watch, I will be there much more often now.

Thank goodness I spent so many hours of my life watching, “Make It or Break It” so that I could truly understand the scoring and different names for moves.  It looks as though she is going to fall on her head but she nailed it perfect!

There was also a dance group that performed that was absolutely incredible.  These performances made me come home and get on the internet to sign up for tumbling and dance lessons.

She got a picture with the dancers and

IMG 9145

there was free donuts afterwards.  Does it get any better than that?

IMG 9146

Yep, they got the whole teams signatures and the athletes were all the sweetest things in the world.

IMG 9147

You know my sis and I can’t have a date without our beloved Pizza Factory.

IMG 9148

More vegetables than I ate all week.

Heaven especially when dipped into ranch.

What did you have for lunch today?

When you don’t feel like running whatsoever do you still run?  Do you take a rest day or do a different form of exercise.  Let me know I am not alone in those days where the thought of running just sounds not fun at all.  How often does this happen to you?

-Probably once every other week.

What are your Saturday night plans?

-Shopping for Super Bowl food, a nap and probably a movie!

I had a bagel and peanut butter for lunch, it was kind of sad.

That gymnastics competition looks awesome. Also, I love Make it or Break it.

This morning I really didn’t want to run, but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t, especially since it was a run with my running group. So I finally rolled out of bed and went.

My plans tonight are going out to dinner with Mike and my parents for my birthday celebration :).

I was supposed to just run 3 miles today, and then I was going to do some weights. But I really didn’t want to. So I didn’t. And now i’m going to get drinks with my brother and sister-in-law to celebrate my brother’s promotion! Family time > one day of running.

I wish I could go watch gymnastics with you! That’s totally one of the very best events at the Olympics. Shawn Johnson is my future BFF…. If only I was only 17. Did they take make it or break it off the air? And have you watched switched at birth?!

if i’m not feeling a run, it really just depends as to whether i take a rest day or do some other sort of activity… if i know it’s just me being lazy, i’ll force myself to do it because i rarely ever regret it once i get going. if it’s because i’m sore and tired, i’ll either take a rest day or do some other sort of workout that doesn’t involve running. depends on how tired/sore i am!

ahhh the pizza factory… i really need to go there soon! those bread things are heavenly. we plan on going to cafe rio tonight (HOLLA!), barnes & noble, and then renting a movie. :)

I wasn’t feeling it either, but I forced myself to try–and then slipped on some ice and made my knee feel weird :) It’ll be fine, but I took it as a sign and came home and called it a day!

Right! I went to my friends gymnastic meet for the first time last year and I was just like holy cow. Those girls are crazy!

I haven’t really felt any desire to do anything workout related but have forced myself to go most of the time. I broke my arm so I do what I can but it does not compare to running ha!

PS: Vegetables are best found in pumpkin form and then in pancakes. That’s how I look at it anyways…

I try to run at least 3 days a week but I would say I don’t feel like it at least once per week. If I have aches and pains I will rest or do yoga, but other times I try to get out the and tell myself I will just do a few miles and then I can stop ( but usually once I get going I don’t stop early.)

Lunch today was leftover Chinese restaurant food. It wasn’t very good, I think I am sensitive to the MSG because I get headaches after eating it. =(

Dang, those breadsticks are impressive!!

I have been grazing all day for lunch. Lots of snacks. I’m going to a party tonight so dinner will also be in the form of grazing on yummy appetizers.

I definitely have days I don’t want to run. Sometimes I just give it a mile or two and see how I feel after that. I’d say it happens every month? Maybe once every few weeks?

I’ve seriously been unmotivated to run lately. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but it’s been a bunch of times. I make myself run since I have a race coming up but I think I’m going to take a break from it afterwards and hope that my mojo comes back to me! I had a protein smoothie since I got back from my run at like 3 pm. I bulked it up to make it a meal and it was delicious :) I used to loveeee make it or break it! Gymnastics is so fun to watch.

You are not alone!!!

Big old salad with french/ranch combo. I mostly wanted salad just for that dressing combo. I’m weird.

Saturday plans: mall, making a new recipe for dinner, and cuddling up in the den with a huge blanket and a good book.

I was at a Baby Shower Tea Party for lunch, and inevitably consumed waaaaay too much — but at least it was in the delicious forms of brie, croissants, and amazing sweets! Yum!

When I don’t feel like running, I don’t push it…you don’t wanna get burnt out! I do kinda what you did…I have an ADD gym session where I do a bunch of different cardio and weight exercises. Sometimes I just walk on the treadmill with weights. This is actually a GREAT workout for the whole body without the pounding. With good form, works your core and arms while going light on the legs.

btw, I LOVE watching gymnastics. Having grown up as a competitive figure skater, I feel like gymnastics is my sister sport. The strength, both physical and mental, of those gymnasts is just absolutely amazing.

Happens all the time to me, Janae….especially since Ive been making my “comeback”. I think I’m just frustrated about how slow I am now, so I dread it. The problem with me is when I don’t “feel like it”, I don’t do didley squat. No gym, no nothin. I just eat carrot cake and ice cream instead.
So proud of you for having an awesome sweat at the gym.

I usually have a couple of days a month when I intend to run but I just don’t feel like it. This usually coincides with Friday night tiredness after a busy week at work. Like you, I switch it up and do a gym workout, using whatever machines take my fancy. Oooh…..I’ll post your candy parcel on Monday! :-) xoxo

English muffin topped with egg whites and a side of pear.

I push through the run and feel 10x better at the end.

Saturday plans Subway Subs and Wendy’s Frostys..and reading my new mags that came in the mail! Perfection..

I had a giant salad for lunch! Random, but I added some goldfish to the salad, and that was an AMAZING addition. Try it!

I wish we had a pizza factory around here (Milwaukee, WI), because I love me a good salad bar with breadsticks!

Some days I don’t feel like running/working out at all, and some days just that happens. However, these days I’m rarely doing anything at all all day, so if I don’t feel like it in the morning I usually still end up doing something later in the day… albeit it I’m not productive at all the rest of the day… like yesterday. I just was not feeling anything all day, so I, shamed to admit, stayed in bed until about 2:30/3, then finally got up and did the elliptical for 80 minutes… but other than loading the dishwasher that was it. The really crappy thing right now is I’ve been WANTING to run but my knee refuses to comply.

Lunch for me today was applesauce, banana, and toasted oats with raisins/honey/cinnamon/ginger. Would have had greek yogurt instead of applesauce but I’m out =(

And Saturday night plans… uum… none…

I had a grilled cheese on sprouted rye bread with spinach and avocado and a side of brown rice. I am suppose to do a long run tomorrow, but yesterday was such a huge workout and my body is thrashed today, so I might need to rest tomorrow with running. Tonight is movie on the couch night-can’t wait!

Ok, so I had to laugh. I have had Make It or Break It on my Instant Que to watch for a couple months now. I wanted to have something watch while running this week and decided to start this series since I’ve never seen it before. I’m so glad I did. It makes my runs on the treadmill that much more enjoyable. Such a fun day to spend with your sister and nieces.
For lunch today I had a turkey burger on a whole wheat sandwich thin topped with spinach leaves, avocado, and feta cheese. I also had half a cup of cottage cheese with sliced strawberries. I think all of us have those moments about running. If I don’t do the shred or the eliptical, then I take a day off. I hate not giving my all in a workout. I take a rest day once a week. Right now we are watching college basketball.

We had peanut butter and jelly with grapes and strawberries. Then his Momma had a great idea of dipping the strawberries in chocolate sauce and whipped cream…

Lunch today was leftover chicken enchiladas that I made in the crock pot a couple days ago. I have a pretty bad cold and wasn’t feeling my cardio this morning (teaching zumba), but I went ahead and did it. I felt better right after, but not so hot tonight. Hopefully a good night’s sleep will help!

We prepped some food for tomorrow and for the work week, and we’ve been looking at various cities online to travel to in October for our FIVE year anniversary…should I come to Utah??? lol

That’s so fun! I took my girls to see the high school gymnastics team last night and had pizza before…they LOVED it. probably not as cool as BYU, but it was fun for them. I had a shake for lunch today. and I would say probably the same for me, every other week or so I just can’t get myself to run, but I will do something else for sure. We had friends of ours and their kids over for dinner tonight – good times!

Your family is too cute! This is my first time commenting but I couldn’t resist answering your what did you eat for lunch today question. Answer = a HUGE bowl of ice cream and toppings. Sometimes that is all you need to turn your day around, right :) ?

When I don’t feel like running, I usually go to the gym for spinning or another classes. Sometimes just being at the gym turns my mood around and I’ll feel like running again.

Saturday night = watching bad TV with my sister.

Have a great night!

I had that feeling yesterday! I had a HIIT run on schedule but nothing sounded worse when I woke up and switched it to hiit on the arc trainer. My butt was still kicked ;)! I saw The Descendants last night which was great – love George Clooney!

Did not want to run today, it was cold and cloudy, so the husband and I did rock paper scissors…..if I won we ran…I won, so we ran. I did feel better after I did…it was just trying to get out the door. haha

love college gymmastics. I love my utah red rocks gymnastics team. but we can be decent a cheer for other college gymnastics teams that are non sec teams.

I ate a salad with the most random things in it (PURPLE sweet potatoes, a clementine, two eggs, and poppyseed dressing). It was wonderfully colorful and weirdly delicious.

When I don’t feel like running, I’ll go on the elliptical at our house and watch something on Hulu. I also walk around the neighborhood with my dog.

Reply

I like the rock, paper, scissors idea. I usually just tell myself I’ll run a shorter distance. One mile will easily turn into my normally scheduled distance.

Saturday evening…work. But I’m off now and am planning my Disney World vacation!!

Simple lunch today! Eggs :)

I had a salad and a slice of pizza! :)

We are watching a movie right now…exciting Saturday!

Wish I could have been your running buddy! Dang!

The picture of those breadsticks made my mouth water. I haven’t been there for so long and I think I NEED one of those in my life very, very soon.

HUGE FAVOR- Will you look at this latest post on my blog and tell me what you think about the mileage? You’re the only runner I know (kind of personally) that came back from an injury and ran a marathon. You don’t have any sort of training schedule on your blog for me to stalk :). Anyway- if you could let me know what you think, I would love you forevaaaaaa.

I had a subway egg, ham, cheese, tomato and green pepper sandwich for lunch today! So yummy! This $5 any footlong deal for Feb can’t be beat!! Oh the Pizza Factory though… Those breadsticks are heaven when dipped in that Ranch! My FIL is the Lawyer for Costa Vida and Fat Cats so when we go bowling at Fat Cats up here we always get free breadsticks too!! Best deal ever! You must join us sometime!!

I did some super bowl shopping today as well!! Can’t wait! Mainly for the good food and commercials! Have a great night!!

Oh. That is a fun date!!!!!!! I haven’t been super excited about treadmill running lately so I’ve been mixing it with kettlebells and “gym tris.” Haha. Fun stuff!!

I always wished I was a gymnast. Just one of the many sports I was useless at as a kid. Looks like a fantastic time though – gymnastics is one of the few non track/field Olympic sports that I like to watch.

I’ve been getting those ‘meh’ days about running every morning unfortunately, and they ‘get’ me about once a week now which is really bad, because every single time I feel better after running without fail. And I know if I don’t run I always feel worse, and too unmotivated to sub in other activities…almost always I turn to food in those moments because I end up so depressed when I don’t run. My lack of motivation stems from dissatisfaction with my body and with my times, which get ever bigger and slower respectively. Running doesn’t seem to ‘work’ for me any more other than for trying to keep me sane: it used to make me leaner and fitter, but not so much now.

I didn’t want to run at all yesterday, but I knew my brother was running the Krispy Kreme Challenge later in the morning. I figured if he could run 5 miles and shove a dozen donuts down, I could run my long run!

There are definitely times I talk myself out of a run if I am not feeling it, but I try not to miss long runs (try)

Large plate of veggies for lunch..not the greatest recovery food…but better than those 12d
Donuts would have felt!

oh yeah, there are definitely days I don’t wanna run! whether or not I still do depends – I always look at my training log. Sometimes I don’t wanna go because I feel tired and I’ve had a heavy training week and not a lot of time off – when that happens, I don’t run (I take a rest day!), because its a sign of early-burnout. But if, say, its been a light training week, or I’ve had plenty of rest, or I’m not physically tired, then I know its just mental and I need to suck it up and go. Usually when that happens I make it an easy/relaxing run by leaving my watch at home and taking my iPod for music instead! But yeah, when you need a break, take it! I mean, running should never get to the point where its a chore. Listen when your body talks to you lol! And the gymnastics meet sounds SO fun!!! I would’ve just DIED as a little girl to get all their autographs lol!

I had no desire to workout yesterday either so took another rest day… 2 in 1 week, oh well :P Ryan and I had our usual weekend lunch date and I stuffed up on the salad bar and bread [major loveeee]!

Reply

Fro yo is for lunch yesterday! and that definitely has happened to me with running, i guess it depends on how worn out I am. If i’m just exhausted than I’ll take a rest day but if I want to switch it up I’ll take spin class, go on a long walk or do some pilates!

Reply

Gymnastics is so amazing to watch!

I love make it or break it, well basically any abc family show.

My sister in law is on the BYU gymnastics team! I sadly missed the meet on Saturday! It’s amazing huh? Looks like you had fun!

I had Pita Pit for lunch. Soooo good. I have a few days out of the month where I am unmotivated to do anything. I think it’s all hormonal. Having a running group helps tremendously. I’d probably skip so many runs if they didn’t keep me accountable.

Reply

Oh man Janae. As I spun away on my trainer dying of boredom, I cam across the Gymnastics meet on BYUTv was super excited. As a gymnast for 10 years, I just love when it comes on the t.v. I was thinking if I were in Provo I would be there in a second. So jealous you got to watch. I probably would have been at the autograph signing table up there with you nieces. Hope you enjoyed it.. so much better than football… what are these boys thinking??
Did you get to see the New Balance track meet on Saturday?
