One Last Time + Not Fast Enough + Tangents

(tank, long sleeve, shorts, shoes, sunglasses)
I’m going to get in some speed today and had easy miles with the gals yesterday.

I tried out the Saucony Women’s Ride for the first time yesterday. If I had to describe them thus far in three words, I would say they are cushy, light, and bouncy. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved them. They are beautiful.

Fun fact: coffee tables double as workout benches. Upper body day on the CGX app.

We got to spend some time with Andrew’s parents and the kids were thrilled to eat at the small table all together.

And then we made a stop at one of my favorite spots, Planted in Pages.

I love this little bookstore and can’t wait to dive into The Surrogate Mother and Whisper Sweet Nothings. If anyone wants to read and discuss these this month, let me know.

It was a very rainy afternoon and evening, which meant that Ang’s Tortellini Soup was a must.

Tangent time:
*Knox wanted to see if Andrew could swaddle and hold him one last time (he’s over 150 lbs at this point, so it wasn’t an easy task;).

*Beck also wanted to be swaddled again.

*My kids and their Lego brains make me so happy.

*I have not been able to listen to this book fast enough. SHOCKING. Thanks, Ali, for the recommendation!

*Does anyone else get sentimental about old running shoes that they used to wear? I see a pic with my old Mizuno Wave Riders, and I tear up. They were my #1 for a very long time. Do I try their 29th version that is out right now?

*Andrew’s gels for his bike race soon…

Oh my gosh! I am halfway through “Ask Not” because of Ali and I just can’t wrap my head around all of the awfulness. I am going to need to read a “fluff” book after to recover.

Fluff books here we come. I had to fast forward through a lot of Martha’s story in case you want to also, it was too heavy for me. But truly, I HAD NO IDEA about so many of these stories. I want to hug these women.
I am still sentimental about my green leopard-print Brooks Ghost shoes. I forgot what number they were- maybe the 14 or 15? Those were the first shoes I wore when I really got into running and had the running bug “stick.” I remember putting them on one day and thinking, “I actually feel like I’m a runner.” 🙂 Best Gu flavor is either Espresso Love or Caramel Macchiato! We have a local place called Beausoleil Books (French for Beautiful Sun); it’s such a fun place to visit. They also have a “whisper room” (aka bar) in the back, but we’re early birds, so I’ve never been in there. Happy Tuesday, Janae!

I fully understand your feelings towards your Ghosts, there is just something so sweet about the time when running became ours! I would DIE of joy to go to that bookstore. It sounds dreamy. Thanks Emily, you too!
The Saucony Ride is my perfect running shoe! I always just bought whatever fit that was on sale and didn’t understand having a perfect shoe until I bought those on sale once, and now there’s no going back to any other shoe.

I was seriously in shock yesterday that I’d never experienced the Ride until now. I am excited for so many more adventures together. Have the best day, Emily!
We’re lucky to have 4 really cute, local, independent bookstores in the area. I just hit one up on Sunday 🙂
I’ve had Ride’s in the rotation for like 20 years lol I hope you like them!

What a dream to have FOUR! I love supporting local bookstores so much. I couldn’t believe these were my first time with them, I’m in love already! Have a beautiful day, Mina!
That is a lot of birthday cake flavor. Not sure how I feel about that!
I kind of miss my old track days where we just went to the local thrift shop and bought a bunch of oversized tees and sweats to be honest. Not sure how I ran in that but boy did we enjoy those shopping trips.
We have an used book store in our area that I love bc you get books so cheap.
I’m not sure either judging by the fact I usually have flavorless Maurten and it’s still too much for me;). Ummmmm FUN! We are going thrifting on Thursday, and I’ll think of how you did that for your track days. I love that you have a great used bookstore, that would save me $$$$. Have the best day, Valene!
The Locked Door by Frieda McFadden is really good too!

I love love love love loved that one. Frieda is one of my favorites! Have the best day, Terri, and keep me updated with what you are reading.
I love that book store too. (And only from your pictures) I wish we had something like that around here.
I wore Mizuno’s for a while too. Funny.
I love that long sleeve you linked to. I need a couple of new long sleeves. We’re definitely in the running in shorts but need to start the run with long sleeves weather. Kind of my favorite.
Ok off to start a busy day.
Have a good one Janae
Come visit and I will take you! I think Mizuno had to have been the #1 running shoe back in the day. It’s a great long sleeve and an awesome price. That is the best running weather, enjoy. Good luck today, Wendy!
I need to add this podcast to my list!
I wore the same Mizunos but have no desire to return to them. Ha
My good reads list isn’t making much progress this year. I need my next book to be a page turner!I get to take my mom to the doctor today. I think she finds things wrong with her body so she can go to the doctor. Her doctor is moving to Bozeman MT soon, so I also think she wanted to see her one more time.
My husband is into building big Lego cars. He started this winter to help him stay off social media.
I like espresso and vanilla GU gels. I have learned for long distance events to mix chew and gels so I don’t get bored. My coach got me hooked on Precision Gels that have no flavor.
We have a cute bookstore in our little town but I am jealous of yours. I might have to go visit it the next time I am in Park City, which is in 2 weeks.
Have a great day. That tortellini soup looks wonderful — must try! Is it really tank top and shorts season where you are? I’m so jealous!!
I had a pair of bright orange Asics back in 2014(ish) that I absolutely loved. They made me feel so fast, and I wore those suckers into the ground.
I used to exclusively eat peanut butter gels because the consistency “makes sense” (if that makes sense haha). PB is gooey and so are gels… I have since branched out and even like some of the fruity flavors like orange and lemon. The unflavored Maurtens are still a big “no thanks” for me 🙂
Have a wonderful day, Janae!
Andrew’s gels is pretty much cake and coffee time!
I used to like GU mountain huckleberry. Nowadays I use Muir Energy cacao almond and cashew vanilla.
Cute swaddling!

That soup looks SO good!!
So funny you brought up the Mizuno Wave Riders, I actually have those in my cart right now and have been thinking about giving them a try (I’m trying to find a replacement for Brooks Ghosts because they slaughtered the 17’s, it’s tragic).
I love birthday cake Gu!! That and strawberry banana are my go-to!
I am weird and prefer the margarita and watermelon flavor gels/gummies. I need flavor as a dopamine spike when I am in the pain cave. Also, I need to try swaddling my kids again. They would love this haha!
Do you think the Ride will become your go-to for speed days too, or are you planning to keep them mainly for easy runs and recovery?

My Mizuno Wave Riders were my very first real running shoe! I quickly developed or started showing some pronation and switched over to the Wave Alchemy.
Then I discovered Wave Nirvana, and that’s the shoe I think of fondly, now discontinued.
Wave Inspires work fine for me, but Nirvana will always have a place in my heart.

The angle in “One Last Time + Not Fast Enough + Tangents – The Hungry Runner Girl” is practical: it names the bottleneck first, then the fix. That’s the order I want. https://trellis-2.net/ja
