Tuesday Tangents: + My heart tells me to.

I finished my run, and then Andrew was off to work. 10 miles with Jess at 8:18 pace. Isn’t it amazing how we get the gift of coming home from a run feeling SO much better than when we left? I left feeling like a zombie and like I could sleep another 10 hours for the first few miles yesterday and then came home feeling ready to take on the world.

Beck and I hit up Chic-fil-A because it had been at least 2 weeks since our last fill there.

My kids are 10x more excited about after school snacking if it involves a cupcake tin.

Curly told me the other day she was craving our favorite chicken noodle soup on top of mashed potatoes, which made me crave it and need it for dinner last night…

Now let’s get ready for some tangents:
*This is pretty exciting news for our area. I can stalk even more pro runners out on their runs around here…

*”My heart tells me it’s time to wake up” -Beck Truman every morning when he gets into bed with me.

*Andrew asked me if I want to run my age in miles on my bday this year like I did when I turned 33… ummm no. I don’t even want to drive my age in miles this year;).

I’m tired just looking at my watch pic from that year.

*The girls and I have been practicing writing with our other hands… Andrew and I are both lefties and still confused about how none of our kids are, too.

*This is the chocolate aisle of the market near where we will be staying in Marseille, France. Brooke’s grandparents are working hard to find the best one, and we will benefit greatly from their findings next month.

*Most of our hens have hit henopause, and with the price of eggs, we are definitely going to be getting some baby chicks this spring. Anybody else?

*I accidentally opened one of my birthday presents, forgetting that Andrew told me not to open any presents. I’m savoring every page. The amount of fondue and raclette I’m going to be eating here…

Any lefties reading? If you have kids, are any of them lefthanded?
Have you ever run or biked your age on your birthday?
-That ship has sailed for me now that I will be in my final year of my 30s… Maybe kms someday??
Tell me a tangent if you have one.
I don’t really bring up too much pop culture here, but deep down, I LOVE IT. I have been very invested in the Justin Baldoni vs Blake Lively case. Thoughts? And thoughts on Taylor Swift being booed at the Super Bowl? Do we think that was connected or not?

Both right handed and have one lefty (other two are righty’s)!

No way! It’s so interesting to me how this works?! Hope you are all having a beautiful morning, Michelle!
For some reason the term henopause made me laugh this morning. I had never heard it before! Can’t wait to see the new chicks when you get them.

Hahaha right?! I first read it on the internet when I was doing research on our hens and died laughing too. Thank you, we are already getting so excited. Hope you have a beautiful day, Amy!
Since I turned 40, I do a combo/bike of my age. This past year, I ran 17 and biked 25. It’s so fun! One year, my oldest and youngest ran some miles with me. Another year my son biked 10 of the miles with me. I usually break up the run and/or bike depending on my level of fitness and what we have going on for the day.
Haha, I wish the me that returns after a run was the same me at 7-9 p.m. when I am trying to get all the things done and yet relax at the same time.
Oh, that is adorable–my heart tells me it’s time to get up:-)
Have a great Tuesday, Janae!

Okay, now that I can get on board with.. maybe I’ll try that! And to have your kids join you for the miles = even better. Yep, that person does not recognize night me. Thank you for making me feel less alone. Thanks Becky, you too!
My husband is a lefty, I am a righty, four children, no lefties. Hmmm

So interesting! I wonder if you guys will have any grandchildren that are lefties?! Hope your morning is a beautiful one, Nancy!
It’s definitely time to switch to kilometers! Ha
Diljeet! I am here for her taking over the world! I remember first hearing of her on I’ll Have Another podcast and fell in love immediately. She is just so amazing!!
The actors drama: can they do it behind closed doors at this point? It’s not my business and it’s embarrassing for both of them. And I don’t think the entire crowd was booing based on her friendship with Blake. I think she said it best with people throw rocks at things that shine.
Meanwhile Tadej dropped a reel of himself riding cobblestones yesterday. Cycling world is going wild wondering if he will ride Paris-Roubaix. Much more exciting than the football world (opinion of 1 in the USA).
I know that exact episode, it was so good. And closed doors would take away me being able to follow the drama haha. Andrew can’t give me all of the drama that my brain requires so I’m grateful for this;). I’m kidding, kind of. But beautiful line about throwing rocks at things that shine. That is actual facts. NOW THAT is exciting… I just watched the reel. HOW does he do that?! I can barely walk on cobblestones.
Nope I adore pro cycling too and love Paris-Roubaix! Tadej is so funny and he’s a beast but I’m a Visma gal at heart (❤️ Wout!)
I’m loving the pro cycling convo here! Also big Wout fan!!!
Yay! I like having people in the minority with me. I definitely like WVA and Sepp! Can’t get behind their main GC guy. ???? hehe
I’m a lefty and my son is, too! My dad was as well 🙂

Look at that passing down of lefties! Why didn’t ours?!? Have a beautiful day, Tricia.
Happy Tuesday! Oh I watched the Superbowl but missed that lol. Now I will have to go read up about it. No tangents except I went snowshoeing with friends and its been so long since I have been to the mountains that my quads still hurt 2 days later lol. Have a great day Janae!

Truly SHOCKING! I think I would have burst into tears and run out of the stadium. Snowshoeing in the mountains… HOW FUN. I am so glad you did that and hope the soreness disappears soon. Thanks Kristine, you too!
Hi Janae,
I am also a leftie. I was the only leftie in my family growing up and now I have three kids no of whom are left handed.
I road 55 miles on my Peloton bike when I turned 55.
Have a great day!
Stacey
55 miles on the Peloton! You. Are. Incredible. You got three lefties?!? Wow! Have the best day, Stacey!
I’m a leftie! Both my parents are right handed and they got me! So weird how that works!
I think it’s so weird she got booed but I don’t think it was about Blake. I’m more into the Blake/Justin drama than I should be but overall think they are likely both difficult people ???? The podcast called The Popcast did a deep dive on their feud a few weeks ago!

Ohhhhhhh thank you for the popcast recommendation! And I’m pretty sure I am way too into this drama also but I can’t look away! Love hearing from other lefties that are confused haha. Have the best day, Julie!
I have four brothers and one is left handed. My parents and the rest of us, right. He has four kids and none of them are lefties. It really is weird when you think about it.
I love all things football. (I love that your girls do too!) I think the booing was totally Travis and the Chiefs related. The stadium was mostly Eagles fans, and I would bet they were the ones booing.
Tangent of the day, just added another phone line to our plan and I want to cry with how much we will be paying on monthly payments.
Hope you have a great day.My husband and I are both lefties and our son is too but our daughter is a righty!
I used to run my age on my birthday, now I just add the numbers together and run that ???? 39 = 12 miles
Happy birthday!
I’m planning a 40 KM run for my 40th birthday in June! Planning to make it a fun, low stress event and recruit friends and family to run sections of it with me!
That Beck quote absolutely melts my heart!! <3 awww. 4 year olds <3
I've been feeling so exhausted and then had low BP and dizziness and found out my cortisol is super high. I don't know why I'm sharing this other than the thought of running 33 miles definitely exhausts me too, haha (I'm 33). The 10 you ran today too…I'm so glad it gave you life and energy! I'm so far down the burnout rabbit hole right now that any exercise has flown out the window. But feeling hopeful! It's time to make big changes and shifts in my life:)There are seasons for everything, Alyssa. Exercise and the place it has in your life will likely return in a way that works best for you. Sorry to know you’re feeling extra burnt out. I’ll be thinking of you.
Happy Tuesday!
I was born lefty, but parents switched me when I was little is what I’ve been told so I do most things right. Both my kids are lefty’s tho which is super handy for ball gloves, golf clubs…
I am turning 42 but there will be no running that many miles yikes!
I am all in on the Justin Baldoni/Blake case. Get on Spotify and listen to all of Candace Owens eps on it. Not sure if that’s why Taylor got booed or if it is something else but can’t wait to see how it all ends (hahah pun intended)
Have a great day!100% left handed (with two left-handed parents and a left-handed sister) . . and my 3 kids all right-handed. (husband is too). So interesting!
Some people ski their age – match the number of total ski days to age that season and you’re good to go!
Lefty and my little dude is definitely a lefty himself! <3 My husband's family also has a ton of lefties himself tho.
You could always switch to running your age in kilometers or put a decimal point in the mileage.
I ran 27 miles on my 27th birthday on August 27! I cried at the end haha. Every year people ask if I’m going to do it again on my birthday and I tell them it was a one and done thing!
I did 30 miles for my 30th! It’s my fun fact at parties. I’ve never run an organized marathon, however.
On the Taylor Swift thing, I think it was the type of booing that opposing teams get when they are in the home teams stadium. Also, the Chiefs team got booed as they ran in, so I think it was just Eagles fans showing their love/hate for them. I boo every time I see someone in BYU gear 😉
And as the mom of a high school athlete that was booed by the entire Viewmont section of fans after my son beat their athlete at state, it is part of the fun of competitive sports. Whether it was cheers or boos, it all fueled the fire – the boos even more most of the time.
Haters are gonna hate, so you might as well just shake it off 😉For my 50th birthday I ran a 50k ultramarathon. I don’t feel the need to do that again ???????????? But I have the shirt to prove it ????????♀️
My husband and I are both left-handed, and all 11 kids are right-handed. It’s a mystery.
And my identical twin is a righty!
Both my kids are lefties. We both are not.
I am 40 this year so running 40 k is not possible right now .Two of my favourite ‘special’ chocolate flavours from the (belgian) grocery store are: Côte d’Or milk chocolate with caramelised almonds, and Lindt milk chocolate with Crème Brûlée filling. Côte d’Or milk chocolate with hazelnut (the yellow package with green letters) and Côte d’Or double lait are more classic chocolate which are household favourites as well! Côte d’Or used to be a Belgian brand, so there might be some bias there… Probably Brooke’s grandparents can find them in their grocery store as well, they should try them!
The TS booing was because she was an Eagles fan prior to dating Travis and the fans don’t like traitors. nothing more.
Taylor Swift was Eagles fan before joining Kelce’s Chiefs …
Before dating Kelce, Taylor Swift was a known Philadelphia Eagles fan. Growing up in Pennsylvania, she often showed her support for the Eagles, even singing about them in her 2020 song “Gold Rush
My sons dad and nana are lefties and the rest of the family including my boy are all righties.Côte d’Or milk chocolate with hazelnut (the yellow package with green letters) and Côte d’Or double lait are more classic chocolate which are household favourites as well! Côte d’Or used to be a Belgian brand, so there might be some bias there… Probably Brooke’s grandparents can find them in their grocery store as well, they should try them!
i love how running can completely transform your mood – that zombie to ready-to-take-on-the-world shift is the best feeling! thanks for sharing your fun tangents – and those kids with the cupcake tin are adorable ????. btw, have you tried cookie clicker 2? it’s such a fun way to pass the time after those long runs!

welcome!
