Let’s Talk About Healthy Minds, Bodies & Souls + The Most Amazing Giveaway (worth $1,799)!!!

Good morning everyone!  I hope you woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on your day.  Today we are talking about something that is a part of life for EVERY SINGLE ONE of us—>  SLEEP!  I want to share with you about how important sleep is for our health and wellness!  This post is sponsored by Sleep Number® and they have an INCREDIBLE giveaway for you today (I’m talking incredible!!!) so don’t forget to enter at the end of this post!

—————————————————————————–

I think sleep is kind of a funny thing.  The other night I woke up to Andrew snapping his fingers while he was asleep.  I think he was having a dream about Beretta because he snaps his fingers at her when he wants her to do something.  I snore, always have and I don’t know how to stop.  I have a brother that used to sleep RUN occasionally from the ages of 5-9.  He would be sleep running through the house and my dad would have to catch him.  He even went out the front door one night during his sleep run.  When I was a little girl and didn’t fall asleep at the exact time that I wanted to for school the next day I would cry to my parents.  I was so stressed that I would not wake up on time for class and get a tardy (I was quite the punctual student;).  Each night our kids fall asleep holding on to a toy or crayon, sharing the bed with the dog or with 2 of their 4 limbs hanging off of the bed.  Some nights I can’t remember any of my dreams and other nights I wake up thinking that whatever happened in my dreams must have actually happened in real life (sorry, Andrew about being mad occasionally over what happened in my dreams).  Whenever Brooke wakes up and I ask her what she dreamed about, she replies “Mama” in her most sweet voice (because she knows exactly how to butter me up for the day;)  While sleep can be kind of strange and so unique for each of us, sleep is so important for every single one of us!

I think that a lot of times we focus our health efforts mainly on our nutrition and physical activity but we cannot forget the huge role that sleep plays on overall health & wellness!  I think sleep is something that we can all make improvements with including putting our to-do lists away when we should be resting our bodies from all of the running, playing and working all day long.

Here are a few common side effects for me when I am not sleeping well (aka after my divorce for a while or when I was having all of those gut issues or when I’ve been stressed out about family things):

*My mile splits aren’t what I want them to be, I have a harder time finishing workouts and goodness gracious race day does not go well if I have not been sleeping well.

*I make poor eating choices.  When I am tired, I reach for sugar all day long hoping that it will give me the energy I am missing from not sleeping well.

*I have lower motivation with work, with taking care of the house, with getting things DONE.

*It’s hard for me to focus on things.  I feel like my brain is everywhere except for where I want it to be in the moment.

*Overall, when I am not sleeping well or making sleep a priority I just feel like I’m not tapping into my potential as a wife/mom/runner/daughter/blogger/sister etc. and I don’t like that feeling at all.

Turns out that when I’m not sleeping well, SO many things in my life are effected negatively.

When I am sleeping well, it feels like life just goes so much more smoothly.  My overall perspective about life is better and I eat a lot better.  I notice progress in my running and I can focus on my work.  I’m a much better wife and mom (just ask Andrew and the kids;).  The positive things that come from sleeping well are definitely the best motivation to make sure that I take care of myself, my health and go to bed at a good time.  Time for us all to make sure that we are sleeping better!

DSC02825

I kind of tricked Andrew when we were dating.  I was all about staying up late with him and watching movies or talking until way too late.  And then a little bit into marriage, he realized that sleep means a lot to me.  I look forward to it, I want to be in my bed for as many hours as possible and anytime that I can get in bed early, I do.  Since I first met Andrew, he has gotten a lot better at getting in bed at a good time and making more time for sleeping BUT our old mattress was killing his back.  We were using my old one and I would wake up in the mornings some days with him sleeping on the floor because the mattress hurt his back so bad.  For a few years I was single and all I had to worry about was how the mattress worked for me (and for Brooke when she would climb into my bed each morning).  We got married and all of the sudden I needed a mattress that was perfect for TWO people!  Between Andrew’s back killing him and the fact that I’m always game for finding more ways to have a better night’s sleep, we were so excited to try Sleep Number!

Great sleep starts with your mattress.  We went to the Sleep Number store and had an awesome experience there!  We brought the kids and my mom.  The team members there were so friendly and helpful! They helped us to really personalize what we needed and what would be the best solution for Andrew’s back problems along with our desire for two very different mattresses.  I prefer a softer mattress and Andrew prefers a more firm mattress.  I think that this has to be my favorite part about our Sleep Number mattress, it is a win-win situation for the two of us.  Neither of us has to settle on one type of mattress, we both get what we love!

DSC02851

It is so easy to adjust each side of our Sleep Number mattress.  You can use the bed remote or your phone to get to the exact Sleep Number® setting that is perfect for you (I am at a 35 and Andrew is usually around 60 or more and you can choose anywhere from 5-100)!   I am SO comfortable on my side at 35… it feels like I get to have my mattress exactly where my body is it’s happiest.

DSC02865

We are learning A LOT about our sleep with our Sleep Number mattress.  Through the SleepIQ™ technology I get to see exactly how well I sleep each night.  The information that is gathered from the mattress is shown on an app on my phone and it tells me when the best hours of sleep are for me, how many breaths per minute I take, when I am restless and restful and even my average heart rate while I am asleep.  Having all of this information and seeing where I can improve has provided a way for me to challenge myself to get a better night of sleep each night.  Also, Sleep Number mattresses actually adjust to better fit to your own personal needs which I am excited to see how that continues to help me to sleep better!

DSC02889

Andrew has been loving adjusting his side of the bed to meet his needs and to make his back happier.  Hallelujah for no more floor sleeping, right Andrew?

DSC03018

Overall, we are loving our Sleep Number mattress and we are really happy to have such a great solution for the two of us.  Now we each get a good night of sleep while sleeping on the same mattress.. it is wonderful:)

DSC02896

Sleep is so important for everyone but remember, as runners we really have to make sure we are getting enough sleep each night if we want to continue to train hard and recover well!  “It’s during the third and fourth stages of a typical sleep cycle when a body heals itself.  That’s when the human growth hormone (HGH) is released from the pituitary gland.  Although it’s gotten notoriety as a performance-enhancing drug, in its natural form it plays a key role in building and repairing muscle tissue and bones, as well as acting as a catalyst for the body to use fat as fuel.  Without the right amount of HGH in the blood, recovery from workouts is hindered, prolonging the time it takes the body to build a strong aerobic engine.” (source)  Don’t let your lack of sleep get in the way of recovering from your workouts!

My fiancé and I both have trouble sleeping! He has chronic back pain that seems to be made worse by all the different beds we try (within the past year we have tried three different mattresses). I have very disrupted sleep, waking up several times a night (often twice to go to the bathroom), as well as neck and shoulder pain. It would be amazing to get a new bed that helps both of us sleep through the night!! I am glad this one is working out for you and Andrew!!

Polaris Fashion Place is probably closest to me! I do okay sleeping, although I often wake up with a stiff neck (could be pillows), but my husband has a terrible time sleeping. I often wake up to find him not in bed because he’s either in a different bed in our apartment or on the couch! But when he is tossing and turning in bed – it definitely affects me! I would love to find out if a sleep number mattress could help us.

Ah I’m so jealous, my husband and I have been looking for a new mattress as well as bedding. I haven’t been sleeping that well lately (could be related to his deployment I guess) but it’s funny we’ve just been looking for new mattresses. There are two super close to me but I would probably go to Marlton so I don’t have to haul a mattress through a mall. Could you imagine that sight?! LOL

Buckhead – Lenox store

We’d love to find a mattress that can tailor to our different sleeping styles. My husband is a side sleeper and me a belly sleeper!

Reply

The closest store to us isn’t in Mayfaire Town Center here in Wilmington, NC. My husband and I definitely like different firmness in mattresses making it difficult for us to find a bed that we like. He also has lots of back pain making it difficult for him to sleep at times. I think the sleep number would be a great solution to this issue!

Charlottesville Fashion Square!

I occasionally have back problems if I sleep funny.

Wow incredible giveaway! Our mattress has been leaning towards the middle ha I’d love a new one. Closest store is South Hills Village- Pittsburgh.

Reply

My store is in Destiny USA. Our local mall. My sleep issues are that I am waking up with hip pain. I know that I need a new mattress since mine is 19years old! I bought it the day I brought my oldest home from the hospital.

Reply

The store at Overland Park – 95th/Quivira. I have never invested in a quality mattress. For my first two years of teaching I didn’t have money to purchase a bed/mattress so I spent 2 years sleeping on an inflatable mattress on the floor! Then someone was so kind and donated a mattress to me. I haven’t been sleeping the greatest and have had some aches when I wake up. Maybe a new mattress is needed!

Reply

Sleep Number Fargo! My husband and I HATE our current mattress. We each sleep in a “well” we created over the years and wake up with back aches EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. With mattresses being so expensive, it’s not like we can go out and keep trying mattresses until we find one we like. A sleep number bed would be AMAZING for us!

Reply

The closest store to me is at Fashion Centre at Pentagon City and I think I’m going to go try these out just to see! I’ve been waking up a lot in the middle of the night, mostly because sleeping next to someone else means we both get up as soon as someone turns! This sounds like an awesome solution.

We are definitely overdue for a new mattress- would love to not wake up sore :)

I’m a very light sleeper. I have to sleep with earplugs in every night or I wake up if my husband is even breathing loudly :)

I am game for ANYTHING that would get me a better night’s sleep. Feeling tired all the time is no fun.

The mattress struggle is real! We’ve gone through several mattress trials and have yet to find one that works for us both. They feel great in the store, but once you get them home they never work. I love that a Sleep Number bed can change with your individual needs!

Hi! My closest store is the Westroads Center Store in Omaha, NE. As of recently, I have been having lower back pain which leaves me stiff and sore in the morning…and this is not good because I have my first ultramarathon this weekend! eek!

My closest store is in Meridian, ID. Just outside of Boise. We have a very old mattress that has been in need of replacing for years now. Sags in the middle and feels like a brick.

My closest store is at the Dayton Mall-Dayton, OH. Often I wake up not feeling fully rested or with a stiff back. I would love to win a sleep number.

Cherry Hill Mall! I think my biggest sleep problem at the moment is that our bed isn’t big enough. He sleeps on top of me claiming he wants to cuddle, but really he just wants to sleep spread eagle…I am not down for that! We are sleeping in a double until we move into our new house and I’d love to be able to upgrade!

My husband and I have different body styles and as a result our current mattress is horrible for him. He also wakes up with a painful back :'(. A sleepnumber mattress would be such a gift to him!

Reply

The Erie Store! My biggest issue is getting pushed out of bed by little people. I sometimes sleep in awkward positions because of said little ones that causes neck and back pain.

Reply

Houston Kirby – TX is closest. I find that my bed is too soft and has permanently dipped where I sleep. This is especially problematic because I have RA and general aches and pains, and would prefer something harder for more support. I make it work (sleep in the middle where it doesn’t dip and kick my husband out to the guest room), but it’s not ideal. Thanks for hosting this!

Reply

Closest store is Spartanburg, SC. I have narcolepsy so getting the proper amount of sleep at night is extremely important as well as going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, including weekends. Would love to win a Sleep Number bed!

Reply

Bangor Mall in Bangor, ME!
My husband likes a firm mattress and I prefer soft. We’ve also been getting up at night more recently with our son-teething is no joke!- so it would be great if the little sleep we got was the best it could be ;) Husband is marathon training and I’m training for my first half in the fall.

Reply

My closest store is the Natick Mall, Natick, MA. I was in a pretty bad car accident about 8 years ago and since then my upper back and neck have never been right. I woke up (just this morning actually) after not sleeping well and realized that it is just time for a new mattress. I hear great things about the sleep number and would LOVE one!

Reply

We are close to the Great Lakes Mall location and actually spent a long time in that store trying out mattresses, but the price was a bit high! I have occasional insomnia and I think a new mattress would help!

WARRINGTON – SHOPS AT VALLEY SQUARE is our closest store. My husband and I are still sleeping on a hand-me-down mattress from my mother-in-law. It’s from the 90’s…now that I think about it! Yikes!

Hey Janae!
The nearest store to me is Johnson City, Tennessee… not far at all! I didn’t know Sleep Number had a store that close!
My husband and I have been using my old mattress for a long time, but we have discussed trying to save up some money for a new one. He is a police officer and sleep is SO important for him. Our mattress has been causing him to wake up with lower back pain that lasts all day/night (depending on his shift). His heavy belt and gear only adds to the problem! We have been discussing the need for a new mattress, he actually mentioned it yesterday evening as he was getting ready for work! We will definitely have to check out the Sleep Number!!

Reply

I’ve been hearing so many positive things about the Sleep Number mattress! I really want one. I have lots of back pain when I wake up. We know we need a new mattress, but are holding off until we buy a house. The nearest store to me is Sleep Number Granger!

Reply

The Green Bay store is closest to us! We got a different “name brand” mattress just over five years ago and have had nothing but problems with it. Because of how the material conforms to your body I have never been able to sleep on my stomach. Zero support = major back pain when I wake up.

Reply

Mall in Columbia, Maryland. Kinda embarrassed to say that our mattress is 15 years old………..but who wants to spend money on a mattress? There is NO support left!

Reply

Troy, MI!

My husband and I have been using a mattress that my aunt no longer needed…I think it might be 20 years old. A new mattress would be a life changer for us!

My main sleep issues are related to kids who wake up in the night!! Lately we’ve been noticing our mattress drooping, too, so probably getting to be time for a new one!

Reply

The closest store to me is Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax VA. My current mattress has a well from where my boyfriend and I each sleep, with a nice ridge in the middle. It’d be great to have a bed that we could each adjust to our liking…I like firm mattresses and he wants soft as can be.

Reply

Lancaster, PA
I would love to win one, our current mattress gets way to hot, and my husband has been having back issues.

Mid Rivers Mall Store – St. Peters, MO
We have an old saggy mattress that no longer gives us the back support we need.

Reply

The closest store to me is Fashion Centre at Pentagon City in Arlington, VA! I would love to win this mattress for a few reasons – one being that I have persistent lower back pain and a good mattress is extremely important in quelling those issues. A few years ago I splurged and bought myself a nice mattress to help my back, but I bought it’s a “full” size, not queen. This brings me to another reason I would love to win – my current mattress is too small! My boyfriend and I will be living together in a few month and we NEED a bigger bed. Neither of us can afford to buy one right now, but sleeping in a full-size bed makes for a worse night’s sleep for both of us. Winning this mattress would be such a blessing!

Bellevue square, WA store is closest. Our current mattress is way too soft and it feels like there is no support. It’s also 10 years old & all the support is gone. I would love to have a new mattress!

My husband can sleep just about anywhere (which is great because he is a nurse practitioner and works variable hours; he has to sleep during the day if he works an overnight). I’m a nurse and years of moving patients has led to some back issues for me. We’ve talked about getting a better mattress, but the cost always leads us to say “we can make this one last just a bit longer”. Winning a new mattress would be incredible for us!

Nashville, TN – Belle Meade!
After suffering from chronic insomnia for the past 3 years and seeing multiple psychiatrists and neurologists with no avail, I’ve been looking at every option to improve my sleep. Not getting sleep affects the body in so many ways that it has changed me as a person over the years. I’m currently weaning off sleep medication in hopes to promote more natural sleep with better sleep hygiene and by eating well and exercising more. This bed would be a dream!

West Des Moines- Mills Civic Parkway

My sleep issues stem from my husband rolling around and trying to get comfortable. A sleep number would work great for us.

Reply

Delafield store in WI. Right down the road! We need a new mattress so very badly. My husband has a bad back and if I sleep on my side my whole body will go numb!

Reply

The closest store to me is Opry Mills-TN. The only sleep issue I have (I’m usually pretty good at it ;)) is that my neck gets sore. I’m a stomach sleeper and my neck just doesn’t like that very much. I’ve had to go to physical therapy and a chiropractor for as long as I can remember! I wonder if a new mattress would do the trick… :)

Reply

I ADORE SLEEP

Sadly because I have Crohn’s disease and chronic pain I don’t get nearly enough. Its rare for me to stay asleep longer than an hour to an hour and a half at a time. I am in bed for 8-9 hours but up constantly.

My store is Sleep Number Canton and I would love to win because I know the damage being done to my body by not getting enough sleep / enough deep sleep. In addition we manufacture serotonin while asleep which helps to manage pain so it would be great to “make more”!

Sadly a new mattress won’t help with my sleep problem… unless it can make my kids not wake up 2-3-4 times a night. They’ll outgrow this soon, right?! Gah. I’m tired.

Closest store to me is Sleep Number Sioux Falls. OH how I need one of these. Husband snores something horrible which in turn causes me to have insomnia. Besides being horribly iron deficient all mixed together with a mattress I feel is too soft makes for a horrible combination for sleep. :)

I live in Canada and not eligible, but my mattress is so done! I don’t even know how old it is…the floral print on it is very out of date. I have a 3/4 inch piece of plywood between the mattress and box spring to help it not to sag and an Ikea mattress topper on top to help soften it up so my hips don’t ache. Now that’s sad!

Hi! Awesome giveaway!! The closest store for me is the SHOPS AT FALLEN TIMBERS-Maumee, Ohio. I recently got engaged and could definitely use something other than my old twin bed for when we get married!!

Reply

Sleep Number Franklin (Cool Springs Galleria) is closest to me.
Lately I’ve been having hip pain when I sleep/first wake up and my Fitbit says I get less than 5 hours of sleep every night, even if I’ve been in bed for hours longer than that. I think it’s to do with our crummy mattress (and getting older)! My husband sleeps in what we call ‘the ditch’ because it’s so sunken in… and lately the ditch is creeping over to my side. We just got a cheapie mattress when we first got married and were pretty broke, so I’d love to win to get a better night’s sleep (without pain!) and enjoy our first ‘grown up’ mattress!

I sleep pretty good. I only have one sleep issue and that’s the hubby’s sleep issue. Who hates our bed…or hates me. I’m still trying to figure that one out. But there’s a sleep number store in IF, Idaho. Just for us. :)

Over the last few years I wake up more and more throughout the night, and sadly this has become my new baseline! It makes me wonder if my mattress is the culprit. The closest store is Streets of Westchester in West Chester, OH.

I have several back, hip and ankle issues that make sleeping uncomfortable and painful so I need a firm mattress but my husband prefers a soft mattress so most of the time he sleeps in our guest bedroom to get a good night’s sleep. We have tried several different mattresses and though a firm mattress helps I still cannot sleep on my back, only on my left side to not be in pain and it is almost too firm as I wake up with sore shoulders from sleeping on a rock. Even though I go to bed at a decent time and know how important sleep is I’m tired a lot from restless sleep. My husband and I would love to be able to sleep in the same bed and get a good night’s rest so we can keep up with our daughter!

Love your blog! Have been reading for years but never commented. :)

My closest Sleep Number store is at the Mall of America! I’d love to win because my significant other and I have veryyyyy different views on how a mattress should feel. We’ve actually even said “We should just get a sleep number!”

Reply

My closest store is Paducah. I would love to win a sleep number. Ours is sagging on my husband’s side.

The closest store is not too far from me- Layton, UT. I’m pregnant with baby number five and am living in a small rental with my family while we wait for our house to be built. A great night’s sleep would be magical at this point!:)

Burnsville Center Store (MN) is the closest store to me! My husband and I are currently sleeping on a mattress that is 10 years old and very saggy. We desperately need a new one, but other things keep taking priority in the budget! Sleep Number would be perfect because I prefer a firmer mattress and my husband prefers soft.

Montgomery mall in Bethesda, MD is my closest store. My husband has lower back problems, so I’d love to upgrade to a mattress that works better for him!

Reply

LAYTON HILLS MALL is the closest sleep number store to us. I have chronic back pain that leaves me feeling cranky in the morning (am I right Andrew??) A new bed would be awesome! Plus, we recently took in 3 little foster siblings and I need my sleep to get through each day! Thanks Janae, you’re amazing!

Our mattress is almost 10 years old and definitely needs to be replaced. I dread mattress shopping, though, because my husband and I both want different things! This would be perfect. :)

Sleep Number Delafield, WI

I cannot get comfortable on our mattress. I, like Andrew, end up on the floor. If I do stay in the bed, it is always a toss up as to what end he’ll find my head at. I don’t toss side to side, but end to end. Sleeping with me must be a treat!

INDIANAPOLIS-KEYSTONE is the closet for me. I’ve heard from several people that you’re supposed to replace your mattress every 7 or so years. While I have no idea if that’s true, it probably wouldn’t hurt to explore it. I cannot tell you how old my mattress is, which probably isn’t helping some shoulder pain that I’ve been experiencing. It dips into the middle (pillow top – I’m not sure if this is normal), so we both roll into the middle or sleep on a slant. I’ll be moving in a few months and will likely need a new mattress due to the size of the bedrooms and having a new Sleep Number would be absolutely amazing!

My carpal tunnel has been making sleep really tough for me. But hopefully my upcoming surgery will fix it. <3

Reply

Tigard- Bridgeport village!! My fiancé and I will be moving in together after we get married this summer, and we have the exact same issue you and Andrew do! He likes a super firm bed, and I prefer one I can sink into and get lost in. A mattress that would make both of us happy would be amazing!

The University Parkway store in Orem is the closest to me. I would love to win this because ever since I was pregnant with my little boy, I would wake up in the middle of the night with major pain in my hips and lower back. Even though he’s a year old now, I still wake up throughout the night with major back and hip pain.

Reply

B ayshore Mall in Milwaukee is the closest store for me. I am a stomach sleeper, so having a mattress that makes my back feel better would be fantastic!

We definitely want a new mattress in the next year or 2 – ours is only 7 years old so it distresses me that it is already failing us. When the time comes I think we will look at Sleep Number, but when I start looking I do get quite stressed out by the price!

Lack of sleep has been very detrimental to my health. When my husband and I started dating, almost 15 years ago, I definitely stayed up way later than I should have and my weight completely suffered because of it and unfortunately hasn’t rebounded yet. But after a year I told him I just had to sleep more. I don’t know how he does it. Even now he stays up until 11 or 12 and wakes up at 5:30. I keep telling him he needs at least 7 hours of sleep. He can’t even fathom going to bed at 10:30. I am finally making me a priority and 10:00 every night, even on the weekends.

Biggest sleep issue is my husband snores! I always try to hurry and go to sleep first!
I would adore a new mattress ours is almost 10 years old and we’re beginning the search for a new one.

#1 Problem-my husband tosses and turns ALL night, causing me to be restless
#2 Problem-I am a side sleeper, and there are nights that I will wake up because my hips are numb. Our mattress is at the 8 year mark, and probably due to be retired.

I like my current mattress but having a new one would be awesome… I am about to start a new phase of training that looks to be super tough and so a great mattress would be perfect!

The closest store to me is the NEW LONDON-WATERFORD COMMONS-CT location. The biggest problem for me right now is that I am starting to be able to feel the springs in my current mattress. My wife and I also do not seem to like the same things in a bed so I think this would be a good solution for us as a couple.

I would love a sleep number because our current mattress is way too soft for my liking, which makes my back and shoulders hurt.

Amazing giveaway!! Our closest Sleep Number store is in Seaside, CA. My husband and I would love to win! We sleep on a hand-me-down mattress that we’ve had for almost a decade, and its age is starting to show. We have a newborn who is up hourly (!) to nurse these days, and maybe I’d be less sleep deprived with a comfortable mattress? Ha. We also have a two year old and a four year old, and when we’re all cozied up in bed together, it’s a tight squeeze! My husband was just wishing we had a bigger mattress the other day, so amazing giveaway timing! And exciting for whoever wins! Sleep is under appreciated! :)

Oh man, sleep is my FAVORITE!!!! And I do not get enough of it which makes no sense because I go to bed at a decent time (I have to be at work by 5am Mon-Fri). Plain and simply our mattress sucks. As I was reading your post I was thinking No Way! My husband will sleep on the floor because of his back too! (And he will often wake up grouchy because of this!) So yes, this giveaway excites me!
Good luck everyone!

I’m in a pretty decent sleep cycle right now, but last year during marathon training (when I probably wasn’t eating enough), I really suffered from insomnia, and into the spring when I was probably over-training and still not eating enough (unintentionally–I just didn’t realize how to fuel my body with the increased training). I’m at a better place now with sleep. It’s scary though because sleepless nights/insomnia are the WORST things.

I’m not sure how in depth you can go with it or what resources you might have, but I’d love to see a post/posts on nutrition/fueling the body and how those needs change/how to adjust from going from just “working out” to stay fit to “working out” to run a marathon. :) I’m in a better place now, but I’m still not sure I’m quite “there”! It’s hard! I already have a massage lady, a coach, a chiro, an acupuncturist now, a PT, do I need a nutritionist, too?! lol I’m definitely not an elite athlete, but there’s so much to consider with training!

My biggest sleep issue is that our mattress is over ten years old and I can feel each and every spring in my back. We have been putting off mattress shopping for over a year now and it is really really time. Winning a sleep number would mean that I can have my firm side and my husband can have his soft side. It would be the perfect solution to our mattress problems!

I’m confused. Didn’t you acquire a Leesa mattress a year ago or so? Was it bad? I’m looking for a new mattress and am considering options.

Our mattress is almost 10 years old and starting to look sad – like you know exactly who sleeps where!! Lately I’ve been having some back problems too and I’m sure a new mattress would make a world of difference! Plus, as a new mom going back to sleep after getting up in the middle night can be tough. It would be awesome to see how much sleep we are actually getting and seeing how we can adjust things to bet better rest!

Orem, UT. I sleep on a broken mattress that’s more than 25 years old. Several springs have even come out. I bought a sleep number mattress years ago when I was married. Never was able to sleep on it as quickly she determined we couldn’t be in the same room sleeping. I definitely need a new mattress and would love it to be a sleep number finally.

My biggest problem is low back pain when I sleep. I didn’t have trouble when my husband was on third shift and I was by myself, but once he switched jobs and worked days, the back problem started. I slept on a sleep number at a hotel once and it was wonderful! Oh, and I love that you sometimes are mad at Andrew for what he did in your dreams! I do that to my husband, too.

Our closest store is in Cambridge, MA- our current one is 15 years old and causes both my fiance and I back problems….we have been looking to upgrade for our big move out to CO and wedding at the end of the summer!

Oh how we could use this! My husband has had back problems on and off and I think our mattresses definitely contribute. I have become a lighter, worse sleeper since we brought our baby home (now one). Our closest one (after our cross country move TOMORROW) would be Denver West.

My partner and I got duped into buying the WORST mattress from a very charming, but not-so-knowledgeable sales lady. We were blissfully happy (and busy) moving into our apartment together that we didn’t even notice how bad our bed was until about six months into our lease. Now, it is our nighttime ritual to do back stretches before bed, so we don’t wake up in pain — nothing like a little late-night calisthenics to really get you ready for sleep! :(

Reply

Clackamas, Happy Valley, OR! It takes me forever to fall asleep. I love sleep, and my favorite Saturday activity is sleeping-in! My parents have had a Soeep Number bed for years, and they love it! They have just said that having one really makes you miss your own bed while on a trip!

Moving into a new apartment with an old mattress meant picking up and carrying all of the old grunge & dirt from one place to another. Moving is stressful, and on top of that training, working, and dealing with some life curveballs recently has meant lots of lost sleep and some nasty muscle knots. A new mattress would be a blessing!

Reply

The Greenville, SC store is closest to me! I have a really bad back (had to have surgery a few years ago) and my mattress is now 9 years old. I’ve gotten married since then, and let’s just say my husband doesn’t love my old mattress! We would love a new one.

My husband and I would love to have a new mattress. Our mattress is VERY uncomfortable and my husband has back problems and we blame it on the mattress. We constantly wake each other up when we roll over during the night. Winning this mattress would be LIFE CHANGING!!! : )

Okay, so this is awesome. I am totally with you – sleep is so important and when I don’t get enough of it or don’t sleep well, my whole next day is just off. The closest store to me is in Sterling Heights, MI.

I would love to win this, because I’ve been having issues with headaches for as long as I can remember. Like headaches so bad that they go down into my neck/upper back and sometimes cause me to not be able to go into work. I actually went to the chiropractor a few times last year in hopes that they could help me (but had to stop going because it was so expensive), and she said she thinks the majority of my headaches are caused from sleeping “wrong.” I never really knew you could sleep wrong, but apparently I sleep on my stomach and with one arm under my head, which I learned is really bad for me. She also said that I probably sleep in compromising positions because my bed is not at the right soft/hardness level for me. So the fact that this bed can be adjusted and you can see your sleep stats through an app is SO cool and interesting to me. I really think it could help out with my headaches, too!

Thank you so much for the opportunity!
