I gave my treadmill some loving this morning. It has been way too long since we spent quality time together. I haven’t ran since my 1/2 marathon because I honestly didn’t feel like it. I wanted to take fitness classes the last few days and mentally I just wasn’t into running.
I am glad I didn’t ‘force’ myself to run because when I waited until I was ready, I loved it. I had the ultimate runners high….kind of like when I don’t have ice cream for a few days and then I eat it and I fall in love all over again. I ran 7 miles and it really felt so great.
If you ever worry about losing your fitness from taking a few days off from running, don’t worry…it takes more than 2 weeks to lose any endurance/running fitness. If your body needs a break and mentally you just aren’t feeling it, take some time off and try something new for a few days!
Question for you: Whenever my students see my breakfast they all think my breakfasts look disgusting. All it is is cottage cheese and fruit mixed up in a bowl. One kid said looking at it gave him a stomach ache It hurts my soul that they think something so delicious looks so gross. What do you think? Does cottage cheese look disgusting to you?
Billy really loves it when I come home with multiple bags from the mall. Little did he know that the bag was full of stuff that I NEEDED (definitely not just a want). For the fitness classes that I have been taking I am really digging workout capris. Since we don’t have a washer and dryer, I run out of my 2 pairs fast, that only means one thing…..buy more. While I love my lululemon capris I am not a millionaire.
Old Navy, you made me happy. Posing took place in the bathroom before my class last night and taken quickly because someone was walking in right as I was standing in front of the mirror taking a picture of my leg. They didn’t give me a weird look at all.
These capris were $22 and I am loving them. The waist band is extremely comfortable and the material is super soft. You can find them online HERE in case you are looking for some winner capris and then we can all be twins. (For some reason they are $26 online and $22 at the store?) I also ran in them this morning and they were awesome to run in. I guess I just need to wait and see how they wash before I go buy 10 more pairs. No, Old Navy is not paying me or anything to say this…I am just really liking them.
Lunch today was beyond delicious. That is some beautiful blue jello, this is Utah after all.
Candied nuts should always belong in salads and so should that poppyseed dressing. I added cottage cheese after the picture because I am obsessed and hoping to overdose on the stuff.
Last but not least….
Spin playlist from Tuesday morning! For songs 4-9 we did rolling hills and it was killer. One song would be a HEAVY hill climb followed by a sprint downhill (tension of a flat road) and repeated 3 times. We were all just a little sweaty afterwards.

I ran on the treadmill last night! I did my first tempo run and I felt like I’d do better on the treadmill where I could better control my pace. I LOVE Old Navy sports bras – like the racer back ones. They hold the girls quite comfortably while running! My friends think a lot of the foods I eat on a daily basis are gross – I eat green pepper sticks raw, and I get faces from that. I also eat Greek yogurt and cottage cheese, and people gag at that, too. I just don’t get it!
I have not bought new running clothes in a while and I am definitely due for some. I can’t do cottage cheese or tomato juice. EVER! I wish I could do both because they are so full of nutrients, but I just cannot stomach either of them.

I have to agree, cottage cheese looks kind of gross! And I actually got a pair of running tights from Old Navy, but I don’t like them because they don’t really stay in place :/ maybe I just got the wrong size.
The last workout clothes I bought were some capris and tank tops at the Nike outlet a couple weekends ago. I will pretty much only run in capris (but they have to be tight around the leg and knee) or Lulu running skirts. I’m not as picky about my tops, but they have to be dryfit material. I ran 6 miles on the TM this morning and caught up on Grey’s Anatomy while I was doing it. I drink green smoothies a few times a week and,while they taste good, they do look pretty gross.
I eat many combos that people think are weird, like using a ton of dijon mustard and pico de gallo as my salad dressing. I used to eat salsa on my cottage cheese in high school and also added sunflower seeds. At the time I was not at all aware of calories or fat counts or anything like that, I just thought it tasted deeeeeee-licious.

Cute capris. The best thing about black ones is you can wear them to church under a dress, take off the dress after and be super comfy, and then workout in them the next a.m. I am all about multi-purposing clothes. I have a few workout pants from American Eagle that I love.

I have been into mixing cottage cheese with a little pumpkin and cinnamon lately. I get quite concerned when people see me eat it, because it looks pretty horrific, haha.
Here is what I am thinking, get your brilliant husband to figure out a way for you to show your spin class live over the Internet I have a spin bike but live 100 miles from the nearest classes, and videos are so boring. Let me know what he figures out just think we could still pay you and then you would be able to get lots of capris!!!!

Planning on doing my speed workout on the treadmill today.
I bought some Nike Tempo Shorts and Compression Pants at Academy Sports and Outdoor. It’s big here in the south. I love both and I especially love that my Nike Tempo Shorts are hot pink! After lunch, I ran on my treadmill for about 30 minutes and did about 30 minutes on my Elliptical. I didn’t check the distance today, I just wanted to run for fun. There isn’t anything think is weird, outside of my brother who puts ketchup on his pizza.
It’s been “too long” since I’ve bought new running gear. I’ve had my eye on some shorts from Nike tho that look like they wouldn’t ride up on me. We shall see… after I lose some more weight then I’ll have an excuse to buy new clothes, RIGHT? :) Enjoyed reading your blog, keep up the great work!

I last bought Nike tights (of course I love them), Nike running shirts, and underarmor workout tshirts. I like them all, but the material in the under armor is a little rough, so don’t wipe your face with your sleeve too much!

I love my Old Navy tights. It took me a while to wearing tights. I think I have ugly calfs. But they are so comfortable and the price is right!! The waist fits perfectly and doesn’t feel like it is going to fall down after the second wear!

I cannot stomach when I see people eating a banana with brown/black spots. Too gross. I have also had hemp protein powder and it was SO gross.

My students ALWAYS freak out on my smoothies. 6th graders are quite drama queens and kings :) They call them my booger drinks because I always have spinach in them and they are green. They’re pretty charming kiddos ;)

My last running gear purchase was back in January and it was…the very capris you are wearing! I actually bought 2 because hey were on sale 50% off and I had a Groupon. Bam! But, alas, they cause some chaffing and the crotch area (TMI?). I have NEVER had chaffing before. But I still like the way they fit, so I just have to wear them on my ‘less sweaty’ days like when I do pump. Don’t get me wrong, I still sweat, but nothing makes me sweat like running.
I think cottage cheese looks gross, but it tastes oh so very good. Back when I used to work I would eat a big bowl of fruit mixed with granola and yogurt for lunch. People would always look at my disgusted and ask if that even tasted good. Ummm. Nope. Disgusting. That is why I eat all the time. Hello?!
No running today, but I did some HIIT on my treadmill yesterday. I, too, am not on board with the green drinks. I should probably try one before I say that though…

I love Old Navy leggings and capris, and they are great for running. However, I had a gift card to lululemon, and that is really dangerous. once they get you in, or me in, I end up spending way more than the gift card. Their stuff is just amazing. Love it. So that’s where I bought my last workout clothing, but don’t want to wear it because it’s so nice and I don’t want to sweat in it! I got one mile in on the treadmill today and then hopped on the stairmaster. I was not feeling it!

I’m glad to hear you don’t lose running endurance/fitness until after 2 weeks. I’ve had some foot issues and haven’t run since Sunday! I have a half in a month and I’m going to keep off my foot at least 2 more days since it still bothers me. I don’t want to make it worse, but I’m also worried that I haven’t run at all!

My boyfriend thinks cottage cheese and hummus are both disgusting (separately… I don’t eat them together haha, that would be gross). In general most people think the food I eat is “gross” because I eat a lot of veggies, like brussel sprouts, spinach, etc. My fellow college students haven’t discovered that there is life outside of pizza and cheeseburgers yet, I guess :P

I think it is weird that you put ketchup on a baked potato too. A co-worker and I had a conversation once about this. She told me that you can put ketchup on all types of potoatoes. So I looked and her and said, you put ketchup on your mashed potatoes? She shut up :)

I wish I enjoyed treadmill running! I have serious A.D.D. when I’m on the treadmill. I have been thinking of trying speedwork on the treadmill though, what do you think about doing that as opposed to on the track?
I jumped back into the runs this week after my half on Sunday because I just needed some free easy runs! It felt nice and I got to clear my head and get my thoughts together! Other than that though I have enjoyed adding back more cross training, I love Turbokick!!

I’m so glad you posted this! I have been totally not interested in fitness this week. I have no real reason why, I’m just not! I rode my bike on Monday and besides that I have done absolutely NOTHING.
Hopefully this means when I run next it will feel amazing.

I agree with you on the breaking from running – I just took 4 days off because I was starting to feel run down, and now my legs feel so fresh!
I run on my treadmill almost exclusively. With two little ones sometimes it is the only way I can get a run in. I just bought those Old navy capris last month and I love them. So far they are wearing well. Hopefully they last.

I found awesome workout stuff at Gap a year or so ago and love love love their capris! I don’t know if they make them anymore, but I wear a pair daily. Will have to look into Old Navy’s line.
I was “supposed” to run today, but honestly didn’t feel like it. I try to run at least 3 days a week since I just started running last summer, but I feel so obligated sometimes. I worry if I don’t run 3 times a week, I wont ever get better. Instead I listened to Jillian Michaels’s podcast (free BTW!) and went for a long walk with my dog.
I can’t judge other people’s food by its looks, because I eat some weirdo combos. I am probably more likely to gross out people by my food than I get grossed out by others’ food.
I ran on the tread yesterday. Nice and slow recovery run in the wee hours of the morning.
I’m been having a lot of luck with workout clothes as Marshalls. I got a good winter long sleeve underamour there for 3obucks. I’ve been living in it for my weekend long runs. Recently I got two running skirts for 15 or 20 bucks each that i can’t wait to run in once the weather is warmer. Its ironic because its the only thing I buy there because their normal clothes never fit me.
I think I win gross breakfast award. I take hard-boiled eggs, slice them, remove the egg whites and put them on top of my English muffin with tomatoes and onions and possibly cream cheese spread. Luckily I have no kids to judge me =)
I ran today! Only 2.5 miles but fast(for me – not for you haha!) and it was great. Its made me happy all day:) I love that you post your spin playlists,thanks so much for the music suggestions! I like cottage cheese but only with fruit and a little extra sweetener! Janae, you should try a green smoothie! I pinky swear they taste normal.
I have some of Old Navy’s capris and they get some serious wear and wash but have still held up well! I don’t dry them though – so maybe that helps? My other affordable favorite is Champion’s C9 line at target, but I haven’t tried their capris yet (assuming they have them…).
Had a little treadmill love yesterday and more on tap for tomorrow. Nothing like saring at your only reflection for miles on end!

Sadly, healthy food isn’t always so pretty to look at.. You should see the looks I get when I’m eating my greek yogurt with honey, chopped bananas and chia seeds (which kind of look like little bugs haha) and I look even more awesome when the seeds are in my teeth.. which they always seem to do!

Can I just say what a blast it was to meet your beautiful sister?? I was just minding my own business in the produce aisle a couple days ago at Wal-Mart and saw this very familiar beautiful woman and sure enough it was your sister! I was bold and walked over and started chatting with her and the cute little kiddos. I introduced myself and told her I’ve just about met the whole family now except you. (kidding of course, but it is funny how I have run into two of your family members now at grocery stores in the last couple months) It was fun to meet the little miss Curly in person too. Your sister is even more beautiful in real life and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I can see why you two have such a good time together.
I need your advice…..IF (and that’s a big IF for now) IF I decide to one day run a full marathon which one would you recommend for a first timer? I’ve done a few 1/2’s and am even signed up for quite a few of them this Summer, but I think I eventually want to run a full, but I just don’t know which one? Thoughts?
AHHHH Okay, this is just not fair that you get to meet my family but NOT ME!! I want to see you at yogurt land and spend time with you. My sis was so excited that she met you and said you were the nicest little thing in the world. AHHH YES!!! You are going to rock your marathon. I say you should do Top of Utah in September. I bought CEP compression sleeves from Amazon last week, and just tonight I found an unbelievable steal on some Brooks Glycerin shoes at zbsports.com. I had sworn to myself that I wouldn’t buy any more running shoes until I retired at least one of my current pairs (I am rotating 3 pairs), but this deal was too good to pass up. So excited for them to arrive and take them for their inaugural spin!
i used to dip my wendy’s french fries in my frosty before eating them. some people didnt approve. it was awesome!!
now that i got the lulu job, i am going crazy and am restocking my whole wardrobe with lulu gear. i think i will be in danger of spending all the $$ i make on lulu clothes!!
Oh my GOSH I hadn’t realised just how necessary workout capris were until I started trying a bunch of new classes. I am (was, pre-injury) a runner through and through. All I ever needed was a pair of Nike Tempos and I was good. Have you tried Body Combat with running shorts on? Inappropriate doesn’t even begin to describe it… oh. the. shame.

My favorite workout gear comes from Oakley – they get the length in that I need.
The only time I get grossed out is by some combinations of food I’ve seen, usually if it includes floating lumps of cooked celery or something. So not that the food is necessarily gross, but that it just reminds me of a bad memory…
