Why, hello my dearest friends…..

biWorkout:

Taught spin

8 mile run didn’t happen this morning and I will talk more about that more tomorrow but a 3-mile hill repeat @ marathon goal race pace (this hill mimics heartbreak hills elevation and length exactly) did happen and burned so good.  Seriously, there is nothing like the feeling of breathing so heavy and your lunch about to come back up at the end of each hill.

——————————————————————

The day flew by.  We went to the running store (because I love to hang out there and the bro-in-law got VIBRAMS) and I even showered, then it was time for my blogger date.

On twitter I asked whether I should go for a chcolatey mixture of yogurt or a fruity combo with gummy bears.  There was mixed reviews so I went with both and 1/4 lb of sprinkles because sprinkles brighten anyone’s day. I loved every. single. bite.

IMG_3892.JPG

Be jealous you don’t live in Utah because we clearly have some cool cats.

IMG_3894.JPG

It is crazy how we didn’t know each other in real life but we were able to talk for 2 hours straight and we could have talked forever my mom was all impatient and worried I was half way to Mexico because I was meeting people from the internet and didn’t hear her call me 4 times while we were there.

Check out these woman’s blogs because they are hardcore and super hot. Rachelle,Julia, Cindy, Jenand Ashley.

The darling Jenbrought me fresh eggs from her chickens and homemade applesauce, spaghetti sauce and Jam.  She is my hero.  I think getting food for presents is my favorite thing ever.

Seriously, I am going to plan a reunion six months in advance so that we can all hang out together and be best friends because we are all a little crazy about exercise and delicious food and we all understand each other.  I promise it will be the best week of your life.  Start saving your pennies for airfare and I will provide everything else, k?

Welp, off for more food….family is in town and they want to hit up a pizza buffet, at least there is an amazing salad bar that will proceed the 8 pieces of pizza that I have.

*****Check out the amazing MommysGoingForARun’s GIVEAWAY and wish her luck on her 3rd marathon in 3 months….marathon maniac:)

I am super jealous I wasn't at the ice cream date. sigh. Maybe next time? I will start driving now, it should only take a few weeks from Kentucky. I ran outside today! Wheee. It was 45 in Kentucky. xoxo

I have met bloggers before – it's so much fun! I hope I can go to a conference this summer so I can meet sooo many more!!!

Today I kind of just hung out!

I haven't met any bloggers in real life yet. :( Well, unless you count a few hockey friends who also happen to have blogs. (One of whom had his hockey blog noticed by NBC, and now he works for them writing the Pro Hockey Talk blog. So cool for him!!)
Today was kind of lazy. We wandered around a few stores just to get out and do something, and then I spent the afternoon playing with a recipe while the fiance watched hockey stuff. Glad you had fun on the meet-up! It sounded like a blast!
PS-I just found you on Twitter! :)

Janae, you are too adorable! I wish I lived in Utah! Hang out with the funnest girl ever + eat amazing fro-yo . . . how can you go wrong?!

Sounds like an awesome hill workout. I sometimes/rarely do them intentionally on the treadmill, but my long runs are always on hilly routes and I sprint the hills. Definitely feel the burn! Are you going to do anything specific for the downhills of Boston, or does your hill workout incorporate that? I have heard that can be the hardest part of the course! You will conquer that though for sure.

Reply

Just so you know, I am already planning to impose on any and all blogger shenanigans during the Boston Marathon weekend. We WILL meet!

Also, thanks again for the treadmill love! I set a personal record of 17 miles on it this morning and thoughts of your treadmill runs kept me going. It felt amazing!

Today, I went to the gym and worked out for TWO HOURS, which is a huge record for me. Then I went to "Horne's" restaurant with a friend, and a friend of a friend, and had a milkshake. I haven't had a milkshake in two years. It was the most delicious milkshake I have ever tasted. I shall never be the same again.

Please come to Raleigh. I have a couch :) Bring Billy and we can play minute to win it. But you have to act super impressed when I run 3 miles..yes, I said 3 miles.

When my now 6-year-old was still in my belly, I started writing to a bunch of ladies online who had similar due dates. We soon formed a group and called ourselves The Opals because the kids were all born in early October. I've met two of the ladies in real life. Great, great ladies who became great, great friends.

As for today, I got up early to go help out with my school's spelling bee. I was the "Spelling Master" and got to read all the words out loud for the kids to spell. Talk about a lot of pressure! The kids can spell better than me, that's for sure.

I used to hate hill training (cause it is all about speed, and I was always slow compared to the sprinters), but now it is my FAVORITE because I know it is doing amazing things for me :D

Haven't met any bloggers yet, but I'm considering traveling to Boston to cheer you all on and doing a half ironman in Sept. that a TON of bloggers are doing!

Reply

I flew to Minnesota to meet a blogger in real life and stay at her house! Then went to the Prior Fat Girl blogger get together! It was pretty epic and awesome. It's like we knew each other forever!

Giiiirl I ate lots of cookies and lots of pizza:) Slash I love hill training, it burns and I love it. You have to come to the East Coast so we can have an East Coast bloggy meet up!! And eat lots of desserts and pizza.

I've met one blogger… AM from GFTW. She is super nice! I have met other internet friends, though, mostly from a parenting forum and even flew 2 of them out to CA for a visit. Tons of fun :)

I LOVE hill training! Must be the rower in me ;-) Hill repeats, stair running, stadiums… LOVE! Cannot wait to start again. It's been way too long!

Today I just hung out w/ my kids and made chocolate pudding (homemade) when they went swimming w/ dad. Even though it was raining.

Reply

today was spent near the toilet due to food poisoning from Little Ceasars! The hubby had it too. what a worthless day and the temp outside was near 70 degrees!!!

Reply

Keep up the hill training Janae. It will prepare you for Boston big time and also works as a speed work out. Glad your feeling better!

Haha I know exactly what you mean… running so hard you are about to lose your lunch. I always try to hardcore sprint my last half mile and I get that way every time.

SO sad I don't live in Utah because I want to come eat ice cream with you. Seriously I will save my pennies so I can fly to your epic blogger meet up. We should probably meet soon though because I talk about you to people like you are my real life BFF. :)

I've never done a complete previous stranger meet up, although I might next weekend. I feel like I would be real nervous that I wouldn't be as cool in real life as I am online, haha!

AND you look GORGEOUS in the group photo. I love your boots! Where from?

hate when i cant get the workout i planned in. but it happens. also very jealous i have always wanted to try vibrams, but am scared to spend the money and end up not liking them… if anyone has any advice on barefoot running shoes let me know!!!

So wish I could have come!!! My parents were in town. Would have been much better then watching BYU lose!! Stink. Looks like you had a blast. I want to know how to go to those little meetings and get free trips!! That's awesome you got that. The weather was beautiful so I headed out for a run, and it felt great!

Reply

I was actually doing lots of hills on Friday night and thinking about you! How do you do hill training on the treadmill?
How will you train for Heartbreak Hill?

I do more hills now than before, it's great because when you do a flat run, you are so speedy!

I am totally jealous I don't live in Utah! I wish I could have come and hung out with all the cool cats and ate ice cream.

Well, I do love where I live, you and Billy should come visit Wellington.

Reply

ahh so cute wished i lived in Utah to meet you and other lovely bloggers.

Hill training sounds like painful fun. And I like to do things that make your booty beautiful. I'll have to give a try.

So I thought today was going to be lazy, but then I ran, ate crepes with some friends, baked cookies for sick manfriend, played a super fun 2 hours of Ultimate Frisbee in my new pink tempo shorts, and now i'm off to bake and deliver cookies fresh out of the oven and watch a movie :)

Hope you have a lovely Saturday night

– I have met 7 bloggers so far, alot more I email with and a couple I talk on the phone with. At Cedar Point 140.6, it looks like about 20 bloggers are doing that race, I will meet alot more there.

– I HATE HILLS, but I do them, sighhhhhhhh

– Swim 2600, ran 4 miles, lifted shoulders and arms, I am tired

Ahhh. :( I'm so bummed I wasn't able to make it! I ran my 5K today, and afterwards my Mom and sis wanted to hang. By the time we were finished my baby was DONE. She was a little trooper, but by the time 4 o'clock rolled around she had, had it. And here's an interesting tid-bit. I went to high school with Rachelle. :) I think we should do this like next week…again, so I can come and meet you for realsies!

I haven't met any bloggers…yet. I would love to one day! None of my real life friends understand the blog world…haha!
I did hills today on my trail run…LOVE them.

Reply

I hope we can be bloggie friends, too! I just need to learn how to do all of this stuff and make my page look purrrrd-ay.

Plus, my life is pretty dull, so I don't know how this is going to work out. Probably will be me just biotching about everything. Haha!

-I neeeeever met anyone I met on the internet except college people who added me via facebook and I've seen on campus and such. I don't really have a blog yet, so I changed the question a bit ;)

-I used to do some hill workouts but I'm trying to run for distance for the half marathon, so mostly I'm doing just 1% incline on everything. My "easy" paced runs usually have more hills… I feel it balances everything out.

-Todddaayyyy I ran, did some laundry (ew), got some skin cancer to make me look tan, ate about half a bag of broccoli, went grocery shopping, and now i'm just hanging out by myself because I'm a grandma.

Reply

I bet hill workouts are crazy fun. (sarcastic) :) I should probably do them, though!

I ran with my sister, went to a healthy living expo and then some shopping with Ryan. It was a great day!

Reply

So jealous/excited for your meeting! Would you be completely freaked out if I just went ahead and bought my ticket to Utah now? haha

Reply

You are the most thoughtful person! You totally made my day with your sweet post! I'm not gonna lie, I wished I lived in Utah to join all you lovelies!

I met bloggers Tall Mom, 5 Miles Past Empty, Training with Track Coach and His Adorable Wife and Impossible is Nothing in Portland–but I hadn't started my blog yet! It's so cool to connect.

Great job on your hill workout!! They are a must with Heartbreak Hill I hear!

Reply

Photo full of hotties!! I'm so glad you all had a good meet up. Seriously craving gummi bears now. Eating Teddy Grahams as consolation. I wonder if P-Town needs a Senior Vice Detectives….think Jason would go for it???? :)

Reply

The ice cream looks delicious! A blogger meet up sounds like fun, but I've never met other bloggers in real life. I feel like it would be like meeting a celebrity or something :)

I've only done hills once before, never real hill training though. It's pretty flat where I live, but I'll be in trouble if I ever do a race on hills!

Today I ran 6 miles, did some laundry and errands and made banana bread.

Reply

I would love to meet bloggers. Esp where fro yo is involved. And I like hill work, but do it very often.

Reply

I love meeting bloggers in real life! i'm more gutsy than you though, as i meet them for the first time at the airport when i'm going to stay the night at their house. uh huh.

and love love love hilly workouts! i love living in the mountains because it means all runs no matter what have hills and always a workout! the elevation helps too (4000+ ft!)

have a great sunday!

Reply

I am absolutely jeal about not being able to attend that little get together…seriously I am.

Today I trained clients from 7am-11am then did some errands before forcing myself to do my 7 mile run when all I wanted to do was nap! But then I rewarded myself with 2 bowls of ice cream…..

Reply

I loved my last blogger meet-up in OR for a half marathon :) Great ladies were there!

That's fantastic that you ladies got to get together & that Billy was concerned enough to keep checking on you. Good Hubby!

Very curious about your run today and would love to know what else you are doing running wise. Hope you are having a great weekend!!

Reply

I've never met with bloggers in real life since I am brand new to this whole blogging thing! But it looks like fun and I'd love it if someone brought me food presents! I actually love bringing people food presents…a.k.a. a reason to bake! I love your yogurt picture, that is what mine would look like too! No fruit in sight!

My best friend's sis lives in St George and I would totally plan a Utah trip next time! I would like to run the St George marathon one of these days! Have many Cali races planned for this year. Check out the Disneyland 1/2 marathon in September. It's sooo much fun! I LOVE YOUR BLOG!! You are my inspiration every day!

Awwwww… wish I could have been there!! Utah, frozen yogurt, and amazing inspiring women! Sounds so fun!!
Next time, im there!!
I got an email from an old friend a few days ago and she said I inspired her to get healthy again… made me feel like a million dollars!
So…I wanted to tell you that you are my inspiration…I never felt so excited about running and being healthy and happy until I read your blog! Is that creepy…well I hope not! I just love you and I dont even know you!! :)
Anyways, school today and homework.
Love to try the hills, sounds like lots of sweat!!

i totally forgot you all were meeting up today!! have another reunion asap (not in 6 months) so that i can come.

i hate hill training. its awful. but i have been working on my speed!!! I increased from a 10 minute mile to an 8:30 minute mile. and i'm hoping to increase it even more. Thanks for your inspiration and for being SO awesome. Whenever i'm tired or don't want to work out i think of you and how dedicated you are. haha i'm totally serious

Janae you never wrote me back to tell me if you could do a SLC meetup! And while we could do FroYo because I love it, I think we could also do Gelato because it's just beyond. And you would have to bring TB (the billy) with you because A) he'd love the gelato, and B) he wouldn't worry about J.A. (janae abduction) and C) he could take photos of the whole event and D) I would be there so you'd finally overcome that feeling that something was missing from your life.

Settebello's pizza has a gelato shop connected to it called CAPO that would blow you away. Come! We would have such a lovely time!!! And I'm happy to be your counterpart on this end for organizing it if you need help. And if no one else showed up, we'd still have a blast! :-)
Pretty Please?!?!

I just realized that D) had nothing to do with why Billy should come. Thought I should clarify. :-)

Noooo I've never met any bloggers in real life, but this WILL be rectified! Fancy a lil' trip to London anytime soon? ;)

I've always avoided hill training…I'm just not that hardcore! :P

Today I had a tempo run, and then ate obscene amounts of pizza and cookies. It was a good day! :D

Reply

Sadly enough, there aren't any bloggers to meet here in Brazil….maybe when I go to college?
Glad ya'll had a fun time!!!! =D
I went out with my family during the early afternoon and then we game home and watched some movies.

Reply

I wish I could have come! Alas, DC is kind of far away from Utah, sadface.

How did you get started with running? I am still learning how to run and have improved with my running distance and endurance, but I'm not a speedy person. I didn't know if there was a good story to be had behind your speedy running abilities!

Reply

A year and a half ago, I went all the way to England (I'm in Canada) for my first vacation in 18 years by myself! While here I met up with three bloggers I'd been in contact with for a few years and I even stayed at one of their houses for a week. They were amazing.

No hill training for me yet although I had tried it years ago – still waiting for the broken toe to heal :(

Reply

I just started my running blog and I have not met any bloggers yet.

I'm doing a lot of hill training lately and I love those self-serve frozen yogurt shops!

Reply

I have never met any bloggers in person. There have been a few at the races I have run but we never saw each other. Sounds like you girls had so much fun!! I do hills every once in a while – I have some intense hills around here.

Reply

Great hill workout! Hill work improves everything…endurance, speed, strength, etc.

I never went to a blogger meet up but would love to!

Reply

Bloggy meetups are the best. I have been fortunate enough to meet a bunch. I traveled a bunch last year and was hosted by other bloggers.

Other than G, my BFF and training partner, who is a blogger. I have met and am now friends in real life with Katye from Long Legs on the Loose, Erika from MCM Mama, Shelly from It's one step in front of the other, Courtney from Run Courtney Run, Mel aka Tall Mom on the Run, Zoe from Run Zoe Run, Jill from Running to Sanity, Kim from Just Trying is for little Girls, Stacie from Impossible is Nothing, Becka from 50 Half Marathons in 50 States. Amanda aka Miss Zippy, Jessica from One Happy Runner, Kerrie T from Mom vs. Marathon and Amanda from 5 Miles 2 Empty.

Wow. Looking at it. I'm kind of a blogging whore. I'm ok with that though.

Reply

yep!! Some of my best running budies were all local bloggies that I eventually met in real life! My first Blind Bloggy Running Date was with Mel-Tall Mom. I was nervous. My hubby called me too, to make sure I wasnt dead on the side of the trail. =) Then we met other local bloggers and ended up doing meetups before most local races, then we all started just running and racing together…Ahh….I miss WA.

Oh yea and TMB up there…met here when she came to WA for a race!! Pretty cool!! So maybe if I make it up to Boston to spectate I can say "What up YO!?"

P.s. I need that ice cream…

Reply

Every time I go out with bloggers, I have like ten missed calls from my husband.

Reply

I think it is funny I don't have my own blog, just follow yours, and still feel like we are blogger friends. Well at least to the point where I have to fill in my hubby about blogger meet up yesterday. I thought that was so awesome. I had to show him the pic and everything. He says you're hot.

Reply

I'm just a little jealous…so I'm only going to ask one question… have you tried chocolate covered gummy bears? I hope you have. Or else we may not be best friends anymore…

ps. I met Kath from Kath Eats Real Food at the end of last year. It was pretty awesome, but not as cool as when we will finally get to hang out. No lie.

Reply

Just finished 8 miles, but no hills, given I'm competing in Figure I have to keep the cardio at 65% max…boo.

I have never met any of my bloggy friends…expect of course the ones I knew before blogging! I think it would be GREAT to meet some! It would feel like we already knew eachother I bet!

Reply

That ice cream looks sooooo good! Mmmm. Because of you I have eaten ice cream 2x in the past week. okay, twice in the past 2 nights.

I haven't met any of my blogger friends but hopefully will someday!

I am not a fan of hills. Growing up in Illinois we didn't really have any so yeah, I just don't like them.

This morning I got up and went to see my nephew for an hour before hitting Whole Foods. Came home, put everything away and started laundry. Getting ready to make a casserole while laundry is going and then exercising later! Good times.

Reply

Looks like a great time!!! I have never done a blogger meetup, but maybe someday. I LOVE doing hills and in my boot camp class we do alot of hills. Something about a workout that kicks my butt and makes me want to barf that is soooo satisfying!!

Reply

That looks like such a fun meet up!! :)

I've actually met quite a few people from online blogging.. Around 10ish probably. I blog on Runner's World and met everyone through there. We've had get togethers for the KC marathon and I've done a group run with them before. Great group of people of all different backgrounds, it's really fun to have opportunity to meet them.

Reply

I am so jealous and wished I was there too! I will definitely make it to the next one. ;-)

I've met 3 bloggers so far and I had sooo much fun with all of them!! It's crazy how you've never met and they are like "how did ___ turn out" "did you hear back from ____"…they remember everything about your blog! It's fun!
