A little bit of this and a little bit of that:

Where to even begin?! Thank goodness I take pictures of everything we do because I’ve already forgotten what we’ve been up to;) I am running on fumes, good fumes, but a heavy dose of exhaustion mixed in, too. I’m sure many of you feel the same! So, if this post bounces around all over the place, remember the fumes part.
*Skye wanted Panda Express for her birthday lunch, which I was happy about because it is right next to my current favorite Utah restaurant, Aubergine. This mango salmon bowl might look strange, but it tasted heavenly.

*”This is a chill beanie.” -Beck Baron. <– he must have siblings who are teenagers

*She is so excited to get on the lift that she wears her helmet and goggles in the car to make it easier to jump out of the car and start. When I was growing up and skiing, no one in my area wore helmets. Was that the case for anyone else?

*Beck and I love to ski, but we also love to go in and grab a hot chocolate after 2-3 hours.

*I know I have shared this soup a million times, but the homemade noodles are so good (and so is the mashed potatoes in the base).

*Her wish came true, and we made it to a Utah Mammoth hockey game. These games are intense, and so are the ticket prices (hence, the nosebleed seats;).

*It’s the season that I carry my heating pad around the house and plug it into the nearest outlet. I think my body is having a harder time acclimating this year… HOW DID I RUN IN A SPORTS BRA DURING THE WINTER A FEW YEARS AGO??

*Just the friendship my sister and I always dreamed that our kids would have… My sister and I used to draw out house plans where we would live next door to each other with an underground tunnel connecting our homes so our kids could run back and forth to each other. We didn’t quite get that wish, but .621 miles away is pretty darn close.

*A beautiful run with friends!

*I was planning on joining in on the speed work portion of it, but then decided not to… I think I will get back into workouts in January. Anyone else feeling this way?

*Still having a green smoothie every day… .5 lb of spinach/chard/kale, frozen berries, 1/4 cup chia seeds, frozen banana, some ice and it looks horrible but tastes so good and it makes me feel so good. It also gets in half of my daily fiber goal, boom.

*You know if Beck takes a nap, we must have been going hard.

*We took in Skye’s favorite chocolate chip cookies to her class, and they truly are a 10/10.

Tell me about the last delicious thing that you ate.
What was the most dangerous thing you did growing up?
-Probably skiing without a helmet.
What sport is most exciting to watch in person for you?
Anyone else deciding to wait until January to get back into speed workouts?

It wasn’t dangerous, but my niece could not believe when my brother and I told her that we used to play in the woods behind our house and be gone for hours. She said, “How did Mimi or Pop know where y’all were that whole time?” and we were like, “Uh…they didn’t.” Her mind was blown! 😉 Last delicious thing I ate was grilled cheese and tomato soup. I’m glad Skye got her wish! Happy Wednesday, Janae!

Hahah I’ve had the same experience! I’d drop my backpack off and be gone for hours. Those were the days! Now I’m craving some GC and TS. No better combo in the world. Thank you friend, you too!
I went to an holiday dinner with a coworker last night at this amazing Thai restaurant. They had this coconut cream shaved ice dessert topped with a strawberry compote. That was absolutely the best thing I have had in a very long time.
I was so risk adverse as a child, Im not sure I ever did anything dangerous.
Ice hockey and volleyball are really fun to watch in person and as far as workouts go….Ive been taking my speed workouts to the treadmill bc it has been well below freezing out here for days..Risk adverse again..so worried about ice Id prefer to just do them indoors.
Have a great day…maybe slightly less busy today:-)

Well, now I must find this dessert. I think we had something similar in St. George and all died of joy. Glad you had such a great dinner. Good call on hitting the treadmill for your speed. Thank you friend, I need to schedule in an hour alone in a dark room haha. Have a beautiful and safe day, Valene:)
We were just talking about growing up skiing and not wearing helmets. I am so glad my kids grew up wearing helmets skiing/snowboarding.
I like watching hockey because it is so fast paced but I also like watching college women’s basketball. I think my daughter and her boyfriend were at the same game. We have a 10 game season package to the Mammoth. Our son and his wife get discounted tickets because of this package.
Happy Wednesday
Not a helmet to be seen! You were ahead of the game in having your kids wear helmets! SO faced pace. Next time, I hope we are a bit closer to see the puck a little better haha. But truly so fun. How FUN! Oh I wish I would have ran into them. I need to check into that package. Thanks friend, you too!
Totally yes for me on the hard workouts. I’m really loving just going out for a nice little run or weighted vest walk, without worrying about pushing myself to hard right now. I’m finding that that’s helping me enjoy the holiday season a bit more.
We love going to hockey games, and football games! We’re flying out to Denver on Sunday just for the Bronco game.
And nope, no helmets while skiing when I was younger. Ha ha, we survived.
Have a great day Janae
Your December is nuts, way to get out for the runs and the weighted vest walks. Okay, FUN. I hope you have the best time at the Bronco game (I won’t tell Brooke, she will be too jealous). Not a helmet on the mountain… we are all so lucky. Thanks friend, you too!
I had a pretty delish Italian dinner Sunday night. There was a map of Rome hanging to my right as I ate, too. I took it as a sign that I am on the right path to go there next year!
I’m going to start roaming the house with a heating pad. Thanks for the hot tip!
January sounds like a good time to resume speed work! Or just whenever there isn’t ice on the ground.
That is the hugest sign. You must. You are very welcome for the heating pad hack. Valid point… maybe April? Have a fabulous Wednesday, Molly!
Oh I am so jealous of how close you live to your sister!
I might just have to give that greens smoothie a try. I also feel like I am running on fumes these days and my body is soaking up every nutrient I give it–along with the all the cookies, haha. The best thing we have baked lately is from Sallys Baking Addiction her pb chocolate half moons, use 1/2 chocolate chips and 1/2 butterscotch chips and if you want to be lazy like me you can skip the chocolate dip part, they are still delicious. Also, Fit Foodie Finds, juicy thanksgiving meatballs are a must and don’t skip the raspberry sauce!
Hockey for sure is the best live sport! When I was dating the lawyer last year, he has season tickets that are 2 rows up from the glass–my sister said I should consider staying with him for that fact alone, haha.
No speed here, it’s hard enough to get traction in the snow. I’m lucky if I am 30 seconds slower than my average pace, haha.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, Janae!

So so so very close! I wish you did too, Becky! Try the green smoothie, it makes it so easy to just get it all jam packed in one place. I will be making those cookies, and the meatballs… thank you! Hahaha I’m pretty sure if Skye would have been in your place in the future, she wouldn’t have ended things. Truly so impressed you are getting out there. You are actual goals. Thanks and you too, Becky!
The only sport I like to watch in person is hockey.
Btw, do you watch Eva zu Beck on Youtube? She has a series called Super Skilled with National Geographic. The latest episode is about training with elite runners in Kenya. It’s super interesting!

Bless your heart, I’ll start it now! Thank YOU!
I didn’t wear a helmet skiing as a child nor did I wear goggles. I would occasionally wear sunglasses if it was sunny. In fact, I skied in jeans in the spring and my mom would spray them with Scotch Guard. In the summer, my parents allowed me to swim in the open ocean unsupervised. I once saw a dolphin in the crest of a wave I dove under. Let’s just say that safety has come a long way. I was frolicking in nature with large wild animals NBD to my parents apparently.

What amazing memories you have… and the dolphin! What a dream! But yes, safety has come a long ways… I cannot imagine doing that today!
Definitely skiing without a helmet! Second the comment below though, being out alone in the woods and my parents not knowing where we were but encouraged us to go out and play! growing up in Sweden in the 90s was definitely different than today. Currently live in South Australia and can’t even imagine when I would let my almost 6 year old go anywhere without an adult! Last delicious thing I ate was probably the Xmas baking we did yesterday! It’s already gone despite it being two weeks until Christmas ????????

SWEDEN! Oh, I am dying to visit Sweden and Australia. They are both on my bucket list. Things have sure changed, I can’t imagine any of my kids doing that now either. Keep enjoying all of the baking!

welcome!
