Seville! The nerves are kicking in…

Good morning! I hope your morning is off to a great start. We are in Seville and couldn’t be more in love with it already.

I started the morning off with a 5-mile run next to the river. I have one more 3-mile run today and then the next time I’ll run will be for the race.

The kids are all sleeping in later than ever here so by the time we left, we were all starving.

Brooke found an acai bowl…

And I started my 3-day carb load. I tried tracking it but it is pretty impossible over here so I’m just trying my best to get in as much as I can… Here’s to all of the juice and croissants for the next few days.

This city is truly the perfect size. It feels incredibly safe and it is super walkable to get from one place to the next. The colors of buildings, the architecture, the food, the orange trees, the culture… we don’t want to leave.

I found my dream apartment.

We went to the Plaza de Espana.

And then we roamed the gardens for a while.

Skye’s teacher told her that her homework is to come back with a book of pictures to show the class and she is taking this homework assignment quite seriously.

I’m half-asleep at this point so I’ll keep it short and end with this beautiful bowl of pasta. Good thing the Euro feels like pretend money to me because I’d probably be freaking out over the cost of how much food we are buying each day… it’s all just too good to stop.

Actually, I will end with this photo–>. The nerves are kicking in.

Pre-race nerves? Do you get them or not so much?

Do you run the day before a race or no?

Any fun weekend plans?

Seville looks amazing!! Enjoy!

I don’t usually run the day before a race. Yes to pre-race nerves. Yesterday my workout was a 30 min tempo at half marathon pace and that made me nervous! How will I run that pace for 13 miles in 3 weeks?!

I’m loving all of these pictures! It’s so beautiful there!! I’m excited for your race! I just did my first travel for a half last weekend but it was just a 4 hour drive near the beach. I definitely had pre race jitters! I don’t run the day before a race and if it’s a half, I carb load 3 days before. Good luck!!

WOW! It looks so magical. The race will be just a tour of the city. Soak it all in and run with the biggest smile plastered on your face!!

Yes, absolutely, to pre-race nerves. But I heard on a podcast from a pro, that pre-race nerveseans you care.
Spain is so pretty! The architecture is amazing. Keep enjoying every minute, especially the marathon.
Have a great day Janae

Seville is truly one of my favorite towns, ever! I loved my time there.

Best of luck with the race. If nothing else, it will be a great way to see all the sights and the rest of the trip will be true rest and relaxation.

Reading your blog is costing me a lot of money. Yesterday I said to my husband, “Let’s go to Europe this year.” You are selling me on dialing in on Spain, too.
Great choice on the apartment!
I’ll be working this weekend while dreaming of Europe!

It looks like you all are having an amazing time!!

I definitely get pre-race nerves. For my last marathon, I was all nerves the week leading up to the race. I didn’t run the day before the race this last time and that felt really good so I will probably stick with that.

This weekend is running, taking down Christmas lights, and a date with the hubs.

Have so much fun running the race!!

Enjoy every step, enjoy every bite! This is an amazing trip, your race is going to be fabulous :)

Always jitters, and usually a short-short slow run the day before to help calm them. Dang, does that food look good.

I’ve heard amazing things about Seville so I’m living vicariously through you on this trip!

I just made my first smoothie that you’ve been drinking. The flavor isn’t terrible but I definitely need to add more fruit because it definitely tastes like greens right now.

Wow, what a gorgeous city. I’ve never been outside of the US before but would love to travel to Europe some day. I bet that run along the water was amazing.
I’ve only ever done 2 races before (a marathon and a half marathon) and I was quite nervous on both occasions. I’m also an anxious person by nature, so I couldn’t imagine not being nervous pre-race.
I’m excited for you getting to do such an awesome race in a beautiful city and I’m sure you will feel so amazing and proud of yourself. You have worked hard for this and you are so good at stepping up and doing hard things.
