Tuesday Tangents + A BIG DAY

(shoes, shorts, top)

We showed up in the same shoes… you just can’t beat a $70 deal (just the red and purple are on sale) on amazing trail shoes that are so grippy. We all give them a 10/10.

Nine miles for the day @ 9:46 average. Most on the trails and 4 x 30-second hill sprints on the road.

Andrew decided that he was going to race me on these hill sprints. A small part of me thought I might come close to beating him… but I was nowhere near him by the end of each one.

He was having the time of his life. He was wearing flip-flops, laughing and filming while crushing me, ha.   I don’t think I will ever beat him in these.

Brooke’s dad took her to lululemon over the weekend, and she got her first pair of shorts there… she was SO happy.

Yesterday was huge for us. My PT arranged for JARED WARD to come to my cross-country team’s practice.

We had about 80 kids there listening to him and everyone left feeling inspired. I love this running community so much.

We finished off with soccer tryouts and allergies… my eyes are driving me CRAZY. Please tell me what works best!

Let’s move onto four tangents…

*Nothing makes me tear up faster than opening the dryer and a pen falling out… so many things have blue spots all over them now.

*I told the kids that talking positively to our plants will help them grow and stay alive, so they give these plants quite the pep talk every day.
*Beck and Skye have Crocs, so I joined them with some platform Crocs. They are so insanely comfortable.
*I came across an old picture of me running on my deck treadmill that was on the second level. I may hold the world record for miles run on a deck.

Have any tangents to tell me?

Pataday eye drops! Once a day. Also, showering at night (no pollens in my bed) and washing my hair more often helps a lot!

Thank you thank you thank you for the tips because I’m dying. The washing my hair more often thing is going to be hard but it will be worth it. Thanks Kerry, have a beautiful day!

For the allergies I like saje ..the have an essential oils blend for allergies that works well. Also I switch up different brands of antihistamines. And showering and changing when I get home seems to help!

Hope you are having a great Tuesday!

Jared Ward!! How cool!
Andrew was giving Michael Scott running the 5K before the Alfredo hitting vibes in your video. The close up shot, him so pleased with himself, the smile. Hahahah
Welcome to the finer things club, Brooke!

Bahaha you seriously make me laugh every single day. I cannot wait to tell him the vibes he was setting in that video, he will be so proud. Yep, things are about to get pricey haha… once you start, it is hard to go back. Have the best day, Molly!

Oofos slides are by far by favorite go-to non-running shoe. I have two pairs now and put them on the moment I get home from running. They also make standing on my tile floors in the kitchen more bearable. And now that it’s summer, they are acceptable to wear all day long!

Oofos slides are simply amazing. Amen to that! Enjoy happy feet all summer. Have the best day, KJ!

My allergies have been horrendous this year!! I switched to Xyzal and it’s been incredible. Xyzal is the name brand but I’ve been using Target’s generic brand without issue. The reason I love it so much is it’s one pill a day but they say you can take half a pill at night for severe allergies. Cutting them in half and doing that is what as saved me

Thank you for this, Maureen! I am so sorry that your allergies have been so bad this year. I’ll grab it at the store. I can’t handle this! Have a beautiful day!

I use Zatador eye drops for my eyes. you have to use them every 12 hours. They work well for me when I stay at my parents’ house or go to my sister’s -they all have multiple cats and I’m allergic. They work great!

I’ve done your PT exercises before my last two runs and my hamstring felt so much better. I was also able to go an hour driving yesterday before the pain in my leg acted up. I don’t know if any of it is related or a coincidence but I’m moving the PT exercises to part of my warm up permanently. My hamstring (actually my whole leg) has felt so much better since Saturday. Please tell your PT thank you from me for allowing you to share. I will test them out on my Tuesday “speed” workout in a little while.

Have a great Tuesday! Thank you for sharing your exercises!

My eyes were the more annoying part yesterday so I need those eye drops. Lee, this makes me so so happy. I go to him again soon for some more exercises and I’ll post those too. Let’s keep that hamstring pain free running up (I haven’t felt mine on a run in a very long time wahoo).

For the pen in dryer- hairspray works! I have too much experience. Put a towel on the inside, spray the hairspray and rub it with another towel. Might be too much work for cheap stuff but if it’s clothing you like then it’s worth the work.

Ashley! Thank you so much for this, one of my lulu pieces got hit so I’m doing this! Have a beautiful day!

You met Jared Ward?? So cool!! I met Bart Yasso at the NYC Marathon Expo- he was so nice. My dad was running the race and I was running around the city to support- Bart told me that is a great workout too haha.

I love this! Bart Yasso really is so nice and he was right, that is a really good workout 😂! Happy Tuesday, Mariah!

Uuugggg…. My eyes have been so itchy this spring. So, I am following along with all of the recommendations here.
So cool that Jared Ward came to the cross country practice. So awesome for the kids and so fun for you!
Tangent for the day… We had a random light rain come through during the night. And I had just put new patio cushions on my outdoor furniture… Uuugg. Oh well, they’ll dry.
Have a good day Janae

Good Luck to maybe Brooke if she’s the one that has soccer tryouts. They are so stressful for the kid and the parents too! They are coming up for my daughter next week!

Glad I’m not alone in this.. it was the most stressful hour of my life. Good luck to you and your daughter next week, let me know how it goes. Thanks Jo!

Alaway eye drops and astepro nasal spray – works miracles! Also, whatever pill allergy drug you take…try taking two (on bad days) and switch it up every few months. That’s at least what I’ve learned from allergy dr.’s offices (I tried the allergy shots for two years with no success!). Hope you get feeling better, Spring is alway the worst.

The platform crocs are actually kinda cute!

Tess! What would I do without you guys and all of the best advice. Thank you for sharing with me… here’s to feeling better! Hahah Andrew doesn’t like them but I’m obsessed! Have a beautiful day!

I’m ordering those shoes right now! Do they fit true to size?

And I have those same hydrangeas on my porch! But just to warn you, that variety of hydrangea (macrophylla) isn’t hardy in Utah and will probably only bloom for a month even with the best care. I just don’t want you to feel discouraged from gardening even if your plant doesn’t last long.

Reply

Bailey! Thank you SO much for those tips because I would have thought it was my fault! Do they bloom again the following year? You are going to love the shoes! I bought tts but could definitely go up a half size for a little more wiggle room. Let me know what you think of them!

There are sublingual allergy drops you can take each day to conquer your allergies for good. Also, there is a toothpaste they can make for you with your specific allergens that you use twice a day. Both may take up to 5 years, but you can be done with allergies for good.

I’m doing the drops and it would be $239/3 months without insurance — $80/3 months with.

Find a good allergist and get tested, then get allergy shots. It’s a longish process but worth it in the end!

No med recommendations but have a lot of luck with both Alfalfa and Nutriferon from Shaklee for allergies. I love all their products. If you need more info let me know ❤️

Arizona Birkenstocks! I couldn’t bear to be without them!

You may have already answered this….I’m sorry if you have, but where did you get the band to do your PT exercises? I watched the video you posted and thought these exercises would be very helpful!

antihistamines…. I think I’ve tried everyone ever made, tried allergy shots, prescriptions….every spring I hope for the best, but still a nose that doesn’t either stop running or stuffed up or both and scratching my eyes out….oddly enough, if I need something…generic brands sometimes, usually the least expensive, and a bottle of Coke, I have no idea why Coke works, but it does….
famous runner? ….not really, singer Chris de Burgh, does he count?

Rubbing alcohol, some q-tips and some patience works to get out the ink from the pens on your clothing. Good luck!
