Life Happenings…

(shoes, tank, shorts)

Six miles @ 8:28 average with Andrew!

I really wanted to love the Ultraboosts (yesterday was my first time trying them), but for some reason, they put a hard plastic piece on the upper where the top lace goes through… That piece dug into my foot… has anyone else had a problem with these? I loved the rest of the shoes, but I’ll be returning them because the plastic was painful!

He was waiting by the window for her to come home from soccer.

We went to Sam’s Club to pick up their box of frozen pizza crusts (ask for them at the food court!), and I tried their $1 soft pretzels. One hundred pennies have never brought more joy into my life.

I have a thing for the bruschetta at TJ’s… I could drink this stuff.

Beck and Skye reminded me that I need to run on the grass barefoot again. It just feels so good.

Please join along in my new series of I am desperate to keep some plants alive for the first time in my life.

The girls chose their own mini plants with a pot and rocks while we were at Sun River Nursery.

This has been each of our kid’s favorite books at this age… We read it twice before naptime and twice before bed, and when that cow jumps over the moon, he giggles every time.
I just started this book, and it’s great so far.

Emma Bates is showing us how to recover after a marathon… I’ll use this guide for the next one.

We loved the Michael J Fox documentary on Apple TV. We laughed, we cried and felt so inspired. He is amazing.

Can you keep plants alive?

Any running shoes that did not work for you? Were you able to return them easily?

Do you ever run barefoot?

Have a specific speed day or does it change often?

When I was very little, maybe 5, I was barefoot and stepped on a small nail or something that went through my foot and I’ve never been the same! You will never catch me barefoot.

Good luck with the plants! My daughter wanted a rose bush so we bought a knockout one and put it in a pot on our patio. I kept finding the root ball exposed a bit and told my 5yo to leave the plant alone so it would stay healthy. Then one day I looked out our bathroom window, which faces the patio, in time to see our lab knocking dirt out. A day later he just pulled the whole thing out and left it on the patio ha! I’m not meant to have plants I guess.

Oh my goodness, that must have hurt so bad! I’ll be watching our for snails. YOUR LAB… oh nooooo! I could see Beretta doing that too haha. Maybe a different season of life for plants hahaha?! Hope your Wednesday is off to a great start!

I want to have plants and grow my own veggies but I couldn’t even keep a cactus alive 😳
I’d love to run or walk in grass barefoot but I worry about animal poop!!
I recently had a pair of shoes that hurt my feet and returning them was super easy!

Hahaha right?! Doesn’t it sound magical to have all of the fresh veggies in the backyard just waiting to be eaten? I have given up on veggies too. Very valid point about the animal poop. Yeah, I changed my mind about running barefoot now ha. So glad it was easy to return the shoes. Hope your day is a beautiful one!

I am a huge fan of Ultraboosts for a lot of things but running isn’t one of them. I think they lack the support I want (which is why I love Hokas) but Ultraboosts are awesome for workouts, walking, and running around town.

I can totally see that… great for everything else BUT running. Valid point on the lack of support too, I felt more of the ground than I was used to but thought maybe that would help strengthen my feet and lower legs? But actually, I just want support ha. Hope your day is off to a great start, Nicole!

Running barefoot is a no for me. I am too paranoid to step on something.
What a bummer about your shoes!
Good luck on the plants! I need to attempt a garden again this year. I do best with herbs yet always need to try my hand at vegetables that will flop!

You guys are making me paranoid now too so I’ll skip running barefoot ha. Thank you and good luck to you. Having fresh veggies in a garden just sounds magical but I’m not sure I will ever experience that haha. Hope your day is a great one, Molly!

I had the exact same experience with my Ultraboosts (even while walking in them). Thankfully, I received them as part of a giveaway, so I didn’t spend the money to purchase them, but it’s disappointing – I had such high hopes!

So so glad you didn’t spend money on them. Why would they put plastic right there?! So painful! I hope you win another giveaway soon!

We’ve been a member of the Road Runner Sports VIP program for years. So, 90 days for shoe returns. It helps tremendously if you have an actual store nearby to return to instead of doing it by mail. If you buy enough running stuff the rewards cash you get cancels out the VIP fee.

I would love to have a large blooming garden, but I have had not much luck with plants either. I can grow weeds very well though.

90 days for shoe returns= awesome. I love that they do that. We are masters at the weeds too… All of our terraces are weeds right now haha. Hope your day is a great one, John!

I’ve always loved Michael J Fox, so I need to watch that documentary.
Bummer about your shoes! It is strange that they put a hard plastic thing right at the top. I have returned a few pairs of running shoes over the years for various reasons. If my feet aren’t happy in them, then they go back.
Speed days used to always be on Wednesdays. But now that I am at the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I like to do speed then. I find specific workouts are more fun on the treadmill with the Peloton app.
We aren’t Sam’s club members, so I wonder if Costco has pizza dough you can buy? I’ll have to ask.
Have a great Wednesday Janae

You will love the documentary, he is amazing. Right?! Runners do not want plastic anywhere haha. So glad you’ve been able to return them easily! They are so much $$$ so if they don’t work, it’s such a bummer. Absolutely to the Peloton app making those treadmill speed days so great. Oh my gosh, yes ask and let me know! Thanks Wendy, you too!

It’s been two years since we completely re-landscaped our property. Most of our plants are still alive and well but we definitely lost a few. Keeping plants alive IN the house is another story…

I buy my shoes from Road Runner Sports (VIP membership since the 90s) and they have a 90 day return policy. So worth it, especially when a shoe company changes a beloved model.

I never run barefoot – unless I’m going from the lounge chair to the pool on a hot summer day!

Look at you rocking your outdoor plants, that is impressive! 90 day return is amazing. I love that they do that. Hope you have the most beautiful day, Kathy!

Hi Janae! I planted some grapes and various berries years ago and now they have taken over the garden despite how much I cut them back every year. I found out later blackberries are invasive species here so I guess that’s why I can keep them alive despite my best efforts.
Sorry about the shoes that’s a bummer!
Have a good recovery month!

I finished that book the other day! It was good. Took me a few chapters to get used to no quotation marks around dialogue though.

The only outdoor plant I have is basil because fresh basil is a summer time staple to me. Otherwise I stick with pathos and snake plants indoors. So low maintenance!

I can only keep plants alive with a LOT of help from my mom and dad (both grew up on a farm). I know the basics, but somehow lack the ability to put it all together! 2 yrs ago I planted a full garden, and it ALL died except a few beet plants. My dad took the time to help me rip it all out & replant it, and the second time around went much better. I didn’t even try last year, but am trying again this year. GOOD LUCK to both of us on this growing plants thing! If even just half of my garden grows, I will be happy! My kids came along to the garden center too, and we ended up with a few extra items as well – hey, if they SAY they’ll eat the veggie seeds they found, we’ll try it. :)
I am barefoot as much as possible all summer long EXCEPT for running. I do like the minimalist shoes, but my idea of minimalist is more like Saucony Kinvaras – nothing too crazy. I am impressed by anyone who can do more than that!
That pretzel picture is making me want one – YUM!

I also loved that book (Normal People) and the Michael J Fox special, Still. I have never been good at keeping plants alive, but am on a streak right now with four potted plants that have lasted more than one year. I’m not sure what I’m doing different, or if I finally just got hardier varieties.

Oh my stars, are we both developing our Green Thumbs at the same time?! I am NOTORIOUS for allowing plants to kick the bucket. Like, I’ve killed cacti — I’m less nourishing than the desert. BuuuuuuuUUUUUT, I’ve recently decided to turn my back porch into a whole new space (it’s like decorating a new room in your home!). It’s awesome, and I love it, and it’s a whole new space I look forward to chilling in at my home. I even got Windy (my floofs) an outdoor bed so she can hang out with me.

Love that bruschetta spread! I’ve been putting it on quesadillas lately and it’s been a great, easy meal.
