Friday Favorites + I Did It.

I did it. I’ve had a goal since the beginning of my Pelotoning days to break 600 in a 45-minute class, and I finally did it. I can’t believe how much stronger I feel running when I include biking often. Every recipe is different for every runner, but I am positive the Peloton is part of my perfect recipe.

I went for a four-mile run after the bike ride and had a few thoughts about maybe doing a triathlon…

Quick flashback to 2007 when I did a few short ones with my aunt.

The first thing Beck said when he woke up yesterday was, ‘I want to go to cross-country today.’ He doesn’t understand that our season is over, but I’m sure glad he already loves running (or being surrounded by 50 kids;).

We got to see my mom.

And you guessed it, more soccer. Brooke had two soccer tryouts yesterday.

We got home at 8 pm, and I could have slept for 12 hours.
The night happily ended with this.

I’m keeping today’s Friday Favorites pretty simple…

*Another Mother’s Day gift that was exactly what I needed. THIS PILLOW. Andrew knows I take my sleep very seriously, and this is the best pillow I have ever tried (54k ratings agree, ha). You can add or remove foam and adjust it to fit what you love and how you sleep ideally. I’m a fan. I love sleep.

*These black bean and sweet potato burritos are so good, and I’ve been putting the leftover burritos in the air fryer, and it is pure heaven.

*I could wear these t-shirts every day. I wear a size 6, and they are so so soft on the skin.

Have a long run or race this weekend?

Where is your favorite place to get t-shirts?

Who has a Peloton goal?

What is/would be the most challenging part of a triathlon for you?

I love triathlons and I can’t believe I am saying it…but I do! The hardest part for me when I started was swimming…I took lessons when I was 40! That first open water swim if the season is scary but after it all you feel so unstoppable!! I am signed up for a few this season already including my second half ironman. I say you should do it!!!!

I love that you started taking lessons to get into swimming… I was thinking I wanted to take lessons to see if that would help me like swimming. You are inspiring. I will need you to mentor me through that first open-water swim. HALF IRONMAN… you are amazing. Keep me updated on your training!

What a great photo of your mom!
No triathlon for me. Swimming keeps me from even contemplating signing up!
My long run is a half marathon this weekend! I have no time goals, only effort goals and keeping a positive head space!
Great work on Peloton!
Hope Brooke is hanging in there well with all the soccer!

Right?! I thought she looked so cute so I had to snap the photo. That’s the thing… swimming. I need to take lessons or something to see if I like it once I learn how to do it properly. HALF MARATHON. Love those goals and can’t wait to hear about it. Thank you and she is so tired and so ready for a day off today haha. Hope you have a beautiful day, Molly!

That pillow really is the best. I am a physical therapist and recommend it often:) All of my friends and family have it too because of my recommendation!!

NO WAY! Oh this is so cool to hear. I seriously could not believe the difference. Thank you for telling us all, have the best day. PS your friends and family and patients are so lucky to have you.

Chris would be s.u.p.e.r impressed with your biking stats. Wow!!
Everytime I see HRG-mom, I just feel calmer.
Happy weekend to all.

Chris and Andrew need to go bike together! Same same… I love her so much. Thank you, Erica! Have a beautiful weekend!

Wow, 225W average for your workout is awesome! I’m working on upping my FTP right now – I’ve lost a lot of aerobic fitness the past few years since I’ve been concentrating more on lifting than cycling. I use a Stages Smart Trainer and Zwift instead of Peloton.

Reply

I need to understand the numbers better ha… I just made up that goal not knowing a lot but so happy I did it:). You are crushing it with your lifting and I’ve heard great things about Zwift! Happy Friday, John!

Why are there so many tryouts?! You would think Brooke was joining an Olympic team ;-). Just kidding, if she’s anything like my kids she probably loves second of it.

I like to get funny teeshirts from tee-public but I haven’t really found a good, soft cotton white tee. James Pearse has good ones but 45 bucks is just WAY too much to pay. I tried the amazon one you’ve mentioned but I have a short torso and I’m a little larger on top so it doesn’t work for me (cute on you though!)

I did the Oceanside 70.3 and I wouldn’t say any ONE part was hardest in terms of swimming, running biking (I was scared of the swimming but I’m pretty strong)… the worst part for me was all the going IN AND OUT next to the finish line… it really messed with my head. Like when you finished the bike people were coming in and FINISHING the whole race and then the run is like out and back twice so when you’re finishing the first 6 miles of the half, people are next to you FINISHING the race. In general marathons and races like that are so hard. Like the ones where the half cuts to the right and finishes (and you can see it) but you’re running a full and still have miles to go!

Still flirting with the idea of a fall marathon and playing with milage so I think I am going to try another long run in the 12-15 range. I go my hands on some Maurten this week so excited to try your rec (although going to the running store for it was DANGEROUS)…

YOU ARE TELLING ME… I’m like, they are ten! But she loves it so much and that makes me happy. I’m so bummed the amazon tops didn’t work for you, hopefully it was easy to return. You have done a half Ironman?! You are incredible. Oh my gosh, yes. I can’t imagine going into the next thing after crossing a finish line. I’m with you, the marathons where you run by the half finish is just cruel. Can’t wait to hear what you think of the Maurten. Have a great long run!

Congrats on the Peloton milestone! No races/long runs for me, but we are hoping to get our bikes out – finally!! – over the long weekend. PS-I tried your peanut butter toast with thin sliced apples on top this morning. So good! I’ll have to bookmark the black bean & sweet potato burritos to try sometime too.

Reply

Thanks Katie. Oh that makes me so happy that you tried the toast, now I need to have it later today. Let me know what you think of the burritos and enjoy the long weekend with biking!

Hi Janae! A triathlon sounds fun! I’ve always wanted to try an indoor one because the open water swim scares me. That or try a duathlon (run and bike).
It’s finally Friday!! Thank goodness long weekend is here!
Have an awesome day!

I think I would need to do an indoor one too first! Oh a duathlon would be amazing. Happy long weekend, I hope you and your husband have some fun plans!

I have a 5K race tomorrow! Can’t wait! Where do you buy your earrings? I’m getting mine double pierced this weekend! Have a great weekend!

YAY for getting double piercings, I love mine so much. Although, I keep thinking of new ones I want haha… it’s addicting. My favorite places are Madewell and Made by Mary. She puts together the cutest combos:

Biking and running works best for me. The combination of the spin bike a d running makes me feel great. It improves my fitness for sure. The bike is like physical therapy for my body. Your mom looks so good and young.

That is so interesting, I feel the same… PT for my body. Thanks Christine, I agree! Hope you are having a beautiful day!

No races this weekend, did the Brooklyn Half last weekend which was great (except for the rain).

Totally making that burrito recipe! Looks so good.

I’ve tried running after a bike ride and my legs felt like jelly. I am so impressed by triathletes…I don’t know how they do it.

Happy Long Weekend!

Congrats on the Brooklyn Half last weekend, I would love to do that race someday! Let me know what you think of the burritos. Seriously do not know how they do it. I keep asking Andrew how he did a marathon after biking 112 miles… I do not get it. Thanks Deirdre, you too!

I’m just coming off a knee sprain a few months back and took 5 weeks off running – I’m feeling much better – but all I could do during that time was indoor bike (not even a Peloton), and my fitness came back even better! I will forever swear (not really, but you know) by the bike to help with running fitness. Even though it’s way more boring than a treadmill, I now love it!

Also, I will cheer for you in a triathlon! Swimming is not a strength for me, but I admire those who do tri’s!

You are back! Way to be smart and take the time off to heel properly and so glad you were able to bike throughout your time away from running. It keeps us fit. Sammmmmmeeeee I really think I need swim lessons ha. Hope your day is a great one, Tess!

Hi! How did you get the Adidas shoes to stop making your feet bleed?

Reply

Yes, please do a triathlon so I can learn from you!! haha. I’ve always wanted to do one, it’s on the bucket list. Swimming is definitely the hardest for me.
